We began our treatment of Christian love by focusing our gaze on the Incarnation. We discussed the Incarnate Word. Jesus of Nazareth, as the tremendous lover. We conclude by again directing our attention to Christ. He came to teach us about love. He revealed to us how much God loves us. He told us how much we are to love God — with our whole being. He taught us how God wants us to love one another so deeply. To the extent that we have understood what Jesus came to teach about love, to that extent we understand the essence of Christianity. To the extent we live what we understand, to that extent we are mature Christians. In the words of St. Paul: "In short there are three things that last: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love." (1 Co 13: 13)

                God is faithful.
                God is love.
                God is available.
                God is light.
                Jesus is other focused
                We are children of God
                Jesus came a baby
                Jesus took flesh
Jesus, the Son of God — took flesh

                All is gift
All God's gifts we are to be grateful for —
                God is to be praised
We are to go out to God — loving God —

John 15: 1-8

I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinedresser.
Every branch in me that bears no fruit
he cuts away,
and every branch that does bear fruit
    he prunes
to make it bear even more.
You are clean already,
by means of the word
that I have spoken to you.
Remain in me, as I in you.
As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself,
unless it remains part of the vine,
neither can you unless you remain in me.
I am the vine,
you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me, with me in him,
bears fruit in plenty;
for cut off from me you can do nothing.
Anyone who does not remain in me
is thrown away like a branch
—and withers;
these branches are collected
    and thrown on the fire
and are burnt.
If you remain in me
and my words remain in you,
you may ask for whatever you please
and you will get it.
It is to the glory of my Father
that you should bear much fruit
and be my disciples.

                We belong to God's family
                We are to bear fruit
                God has gathered us
                God has chosen us
God wants us to go out
God wants us to spread the Good News

Anyone who does something — hoard his money, talents
for a selfish end — will hurt his own pursuit
of happiness. If this is so
such a man's actions are for an evil end and this destroys unity.

Every person who is unjust to others becomes
a threat to peace and order of human
                    social living.

As more and more of the people are unjust the
                    stability of social life decreases.

Where there could have been trust and love —
a person that is not true in a community —
not loving, hatred puts a mark on the
                    whole community and works against
not only their own good, but the common
                    good of all

We never live in a vacuum —
Injustice by one hurts society —

We were meant to be harmonious
We were meant to be in union working in love with
                    others —
the greatest commandment tells us this

Matthew 22: 36-40

'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'

Love makes the world go round

A person that isolates and handles others with a
cold heart is not putting the Christic image
on the people in the world they meet.

Christ came and showed us His selfless love.
                Christ called 12 men
                Christ worked with these men
                They were not perfect —
Christ shows us the woundedness of Peter —

I am sure the Apostles had disagreements

They were happiest when they were focused on Jesus,
doing simply as He asked them —
but male pride must have entered in as these
men learned to work together —

Christ was there to oversee the men He called —
After His death the men show us heroic lives.
Pope Benedict XVI said despite the division in
the Church these 2000 years since Jesus
the Church survived and is as it is today.

What God wants is trust and love, but satan presses
on men filled with hate and suspicion to
act out their hatred on others where there
should have been trusted and love — unity —
bonding to build God's Kingdom on earth.

When people control seeking dominance for dominance
sake above authority — the law of justice is
replaced. Cunning, control is unjust in any
community. Injustice is injury that is put on another
person, this is not loving. It is sinful to hurt others, to
be unjust willingly. It is in the will of the person
to give into anger, to act out past unfinished business
on another — projecting on an innocent other the anger
and hate they have from the past.

God intends us to walk through this life
hand-in-hand — our heads in — not in anger —
helping each other in our work of building the
                Kingdom —

Wanting to get a job done involving others must be done
in prayer and in justice — not like one who pops in —
and tells people what to do because it is convenient
to them and without forethought, prayer or planning —
they want to get the job done fast — push as much
as they can on somebody else and then demand it
                is done like they said.

'Doing things' to be 'doing things' is foolish.
'Doing things' because of schedules without any forethought
of whether it is God's will is opening a
                        door to trouble —
                        who does it —
                        a foolish man —

Doing things in prayer, in God's timing, according
to God's will is God's Plan

The Carpenter

June 12, 1994

You are he who goes to a carpenter to learn to make a cabinet. You know nothing. You do not have any idea of what you are to do. The carpenter knows exactly. He has a procedure whereby his plan will be accomplished. Every detail must be observed. He is the Master. You do not have the talent. You need talent to do woodwork. If you were given the talent and the directions, you could accomplish this task with such beauty.

I am the carpenter. You are he who needs to be taught. You lack the talent. You need the gifts of the Spirit to accomplish My task! You come to Me in total ignorance. You are open, the Spirit fills you with the gifts. You have everything you need to do My work. The Father created you to accomplish His tasks. You are perfect. You must come open. You must know the plan. The plan is His Will for you. If you do not follow the plan, the cabinet will not be built correctly.

I am the Master. I guide you. I love you. I give you all you need. I walk you through every move. If you try on your own, you have a problem. You know not the way to build cabinets. You know not the way to Me on your own. You must come to Me to be taught. To go it alone is to your own detriment.

Oh, little one, it is so simple. You, in your will, want to work your own plans. You know not how to do it. Only I can teach you what you need to know. Oh, please come to Me. I have all you need. The Spirit fills you with the gifts to know, love and serve God. To go it alone is like trying to build the cabinet with no knowledge of woodworking. Oh, little ones, I love you. Come to Me. Let Me teach you. The Will of the Father is the happiness for your life.

I am Jesus Christ, Son of God. I am God. I, God, long to be with you and teach you. Go not off on your own. Come to Me. I love you so!

Sins against justice are the causes of tension —
There is not rest when one is disobeying simple rules
and trying to get away with it for control.

Sins against justice lead to anger —
can lead to people rising up in destructive ways.

Selfishness in community is disorder —
                    Injustice creates anger
Injustice blocks out love and unity
Lying in a community is an injustice.
Stealing in a community is an injustice.
                    These things block trust

Sacred Heart of Jesus
I place my trust in Thee.

From Tell My People

Trust In Jesus

Jesus: "My beloved priest-companion, tell My people to trust Me unreservedly. I am Lord and Master. I am their God. So many fail to trust Me as they should. I love all My people much, much more than they love themselves. This great love of Mine should encourage the greatest trust. The more you realize how much a friend loves you, the more you place your trust in the friend. I am your perfect Friend! I love you infinitely more than your best earthly friend. Tell My people to give Me their trust. Tell them to say often, 'Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You.' I am Lord and Master. Please do as I request."

Reflection: How can we fail to trust Jesus, this Jesus Who has given His life for each of us? During His passion, He knew each of us by name. Today, He calls each of us, by name, to the refuge of His Sacred Heart. Today, He calls each of us, by name, to a greater trust in His Heart.

Injustice hurts common good and the good of individuals
                Justice brings happiness in communities
                Justice brings happiness in individuals
Lies, anger acted out, must be reckoned with.
Our energies should be in pleasing God,
                    promoting happiness —
                    obedience to God's laws —
                    unity —
                    love —
                    peace

If people love they will be just to each other.

If injustice is in communities, nations then
                    people have trouble loving.

A man who isolates, holds out, blocks unity,
is argumentative full of discord —
hurts the community and hurts those who
are living and working in love.

                God has created man —
He is the Creator, man the creature —
The plan of God is He created us to serve Him —
                In this lies our happiness.
We must give to God what is His due —

We must give to others what is their due

Matthew 22: 36-40

'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'

God is the source of our life —
How can we repay God —
Man is to give himself to God — to
                    love and serve God —

We are to honor and to serve God.
We owe it to God to honor Him —
A selfish man — can punish others and act unjustly —
he wants to be repaid for what he did —
he wants to be respected and recognized

We owe our life to God —
We are to respect and love and honor God because
                        it is His due.

We see ourselves in God's Plan —
                We recognize our creature hood
We recognize God as Creator —

The selfish man sees himself the one to be adored and
he is angry when he does something for somebody
else and he is not honored, respected, recognized.

We are to recognize God's dominion over us creatures

1 Corinthians 15: 20-28

In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep. As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead. Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life; but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belong to him. After that will come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolished every principality, every ruling force and power. For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool, and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put all things under his feet. But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjected everything to him. When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subjected to the One who has subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.

A man who is not rooted in God is like a withered
vine — He works against the Plan of God —
                    Happiness is found in God!!

God intends for man to bear fruit for
                    Him —

God intends us to adore Him as Creator.
God created man to love and serve Him.
                When we recognize God's dominion
                When we praise God
                We find happiness.

A selfish person is never happy —
                They work against God's plan.

We have a free will to give ourselves to God.
We have a mind to train and in reason we
can recognize God is over us and the
                    universe.

God wants us to give Him our hearts.

We may think "I did this for the Church, the
priests, I want to be recognized —
I want to be respected — I am not
repaid" — the religious man is one who
has a relationship with God —
he acts to please God —
                    he loves God
he knows God's dominion over us —
The religious man does not measure his deeds done
                        and say I'm religious —
                        being religious is measured by
                        our loving relationship with God.

We show reverence in our body to
God — we are body and soul.

We are to love God —
                to contemplate Him —
to be quiet in our body — praying to Him —
                Singing to Him
                Body and soul —
We participate in the Mass in our body and soul — both are active —

                We contemplate God's power and
His goodness — we see the beautiful
world and the gifts God has given us —
We are so happy to receive the Eucharist,
to pray, to go to Church —

We like to sing to God
                We love God
God wants us to sing to Him —
God wants us to praise Him
Jesus called these prayer services and
                    retreats
some come selfishly to block this
special love and adoration of God —
that He has called us to.

When a man loves someone — he
willingly wants to serve them —

                Statues, pictures, windows in Church
help us to love God more —
help us to have deeper union with
                    God when we use them.

We are devoted to God —
                We want to serve Him
We want to pray to Him
We want to show Him our love —

Adoration — prayer in Church — in our
prayer corner before a statue at home

It is an act of the will to
                    (1) LOVE
                    (2) SERVE GOD

being in love with God means we see
Christ in others and we are
                    Christ like ourselves

We are so grateful for the goodness of
                    God in our lives —
this goodness of God gives us joy.

Our minds are firmly rooted in God's
                    goodness and strength —

                We recognize God's goodness
We recognize our dependency on God —
                    His strength

                We praise God
                We thank God
                We love God

We ask God for what we need —

The perfect prayer is the Our Father

Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

                God answers our prayers in
                    some way —
