August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat

Messenger:  We want to unite our hearts and pray the Morning Offering.

Morning Offering

My dear Father, I offer You this day all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings, my every breath, my every heartbeat, my every thought, all my actions, in union with Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in the Holy Spirit. I pray the Holy Spirit is with me every second today, enlightening me to do the Will of the Father and filling me with the fire of God's love.

I ask Jesus and Mary to be one in me in all that I do and I unite with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory to pray continually to the Father for these intercessions, in this prayer, for this day.

For myself, I pray for grace-abundant grace, to know and love God more and more and to follow the Will of the Father. I pray to the Holy Spirit to transform me in the heart of Mary to be more and more like Jesus. I pray that I can forever dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. I pray for conversion of all those I hold dear who need conversion. I pray for each member of my family that they will be filled with Your abundant grace to grow in their knowledge and love of God.

I pray for all my friends that they will receive abundant grace to carry out the great plan of the Father, that they will grow forever closer to Jesus' Heart through Mary's heart, that we will all be led by the Holy Spirit to do His work, that we will, together, carry out the plan of the Father as He intends us to, to spread the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary's heart to this world.

Jesus, I pray for myself so the Holy Spirit descends upon me and opens my heart to Your love so I will grow more and more deeply in union with You. I pray that I do not worry what other people think but try always to please the Father and do His Will. I pray that I may help lead many to Your burning love.

I pray for the following people in particular that they will be filled with the Spirit and grow deeply in their union with You, that they will receive abundant graces to know, love and serve You more. (Include special friends by name...)

I pray for priests the world over, for the success of the Priestly Newsletter, the Chapters and for the finances needed for the Newsletter. I pray for the circulation of the Blue Book messages, rosary meditations and tapes. I pray for all those involved in the publication of these messages.

I pray that You will shower Your abundant graces onto the priests reading the Newsletter the people reading and hearing the Blue Book messages and rosary meditations and all of Fr. Carter's publications.

We pray for the intentions we hold deep within our hearts, for our families and friends, for those requesting our prayers. We pray for children the world over and for the souls in purgatory. We ask God to shower His abundant grace on us and the members of our Shepherds of Christ Chapter so that we may grow more and more in our knowledge and love of God.

We consecrate ourselves to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. We pray for Father Carter, for Father Smith, for Rita Ring, and for John Weickert, for all leaders and helpers in the Shepherds of Christ Movement, for Shepherds of Christ Ministries, and Our Lady of Light Ministry. We pray for all those who are working in these ministries.

We bind ourselves and our children and our friends to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We place the precious blood of Jesus on ourselves, and all we touch, so that we will be protected from the evil one. We pray to St. Michael to cast the devil into hell.

We love You, God, we love You, we love You. We beg that we may receive the grace to love You more and more deeply. We adore You, we praise You, our beloved Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  Today we were going to handle the 3 Classes of Men but the story that I always think of is the one of the bagger, and the bagger in the store if his heart is consumed with loving and just doing God's will, he's really happy to bag the groceries because it's God's will, so therefore he's really nice. And that purity of intention is within him in all that he does. Or we can go to the other extreme where the bagger is really sorry that he's there but he has to be there because he needs the money or whatever. And then he's very unloving to the people that go through the store.

    The way that Our Lord has told me that I should do this is to focus on our hearts as being more and more like Our Lord. And to having a deeper union with the Persons of the Trinity — the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, to focus on the Heart of Jesus and particularly the pierced Heart through which the Church was born.

    Dear God we sing: This is — Teach Me to Love With Your Heart. And with all of our hearts we want to sing this song and to ask God to please help our hearts to be more liken to Him.

Sing:  Teach Me to Love With Your Heart

Messenger:  The other focus that I got so much during this retreat because Our Lord has really told me to focus on this idea of sacrifice — and that He is the Lamb that was sacrificed for our sins. And we come away from this retreat that we will have a deeper concept of that Lamb, that Jesus, the Lamb of God, Who was sacrificed for our sins. That when we come to the altar of sacrifice and we celebrate all the feast of the Church year we are just so focused on Jesus as the Lamb of God and with the greatest love.

    When we think that we're not loved we realized more and more, especially today as we focus on the Sorrowful Mysteries, when we think we're not loved that we focus more and more on all that Jesus did for love of us and for love of each precious soul which is why we are here as these intercessors praying for the souls of the earth. Because to know Jesus and to see the love that He had, to give His life for the souls teaches us of our role, to love the souls deeply, and to pray and give ourselves for them.

Sing:  Teach Me to Love With Your Heart

Messenger:  Sing with all of our hearts. This is where we'll be with that purity of intention if we really, in this dialogue with God today, tell God how we just want to be the way that he wants us to be.
That we want to have a heart that's more liken to His.

Sing:  Teach Me to Love With Your Heart

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  You remember Father came and he came on the Feast of the Sacred Heart and he passed this all out to us and it's Vatican II and the pierced side. I think Father used some of this in the newsletter. I marked one of them, I can't find it now. But he's talking about Cardinal Ratzinger and he says:

Excerpt from Homiletic and Pastoral Review - June 2003

Vatican II and the pierced side
by Herbert F. Smith, S.J.

    While it is often claimed that the Council was about the Church,

    {Messenger: I thought this was really good.}

Cardinal Ratzinger, in an address entitled "The Ecclesiology of Vatican II," insists that Vatican II spoke more about God than about the Church. He recounts how, in the decades 1920 to 1960, it was becoming evident that the Church is not something "out there" but something that lives within us.

    {Messenger: I don't know. I just thought this was so beautiful because the more that I love the Church, the more that I want to do everything I can for the Church to be the way God wants it to be. Just the way he says — this is really beautiful.}

"Like all living realities it develops, it changes . . . and yet in the very depths of its being it remains the same; its inmost nucleus is Christ. . . ."

    {Messenger: Through the pierced Heart of Jesus the Church was born.}

He persists: "The Church lives from this: from the fact that Christ is present in our hearts and it is there that Christ forms His Church." The Church, then, is the body of Christ.

    The Cardinal goes on to explain today's Eucharistic Ecclesiology: "The first point is that Jesus Last Supper could be defined as the event that founded the Church. Jesus gave His followers this Liturgy of Death and Resurrection

    {Messenger: which we focused on yesterday. And we go into today more deeply when we meditate on the Sorrowful Mysteries and tomorrow the Glorious Mysteries.}

and at the same time He gave them the Feast of Life."

    {Messenger: Isn't that beautiful?}

He calls the Last Supper the fulfillment of what the covenant of Sinai only signified, "the communion in blood and life between God and man. Clearly the Last Supper anticipates the Cross and the Resurrection and presupposes them . . . .This is why the Fathers of the Church could use a beautiful image and say that the Church was born

    {Messenger: I just love this. It's just makes me excited.}

from the pierced side of the Lord, from which flowed blood and water. When I state that the Last Supper is the beginning of the Church, I am actually saying the same thing, from another point of view" (L'Osservatore Romano, 1/23/02, pp. 5-6).

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  So I see this like this. This is what I wanted to stress yesterday in the retreat. Is that there's this knowledge, and so much of what we get here is based on the experiential knowledge, that God has given to me, in different mystical experiences etc.

    But this knowledge in a writing, that is of this — where we get a certain amount of bookish knowledge out of this, and it's incorporated into that love that only we know of God, that we experience and being close to Him before the Blessed Sacrament and in the Mass, the kind that makes your heart burn when you know that connection with the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, for me, when I focus on the Father and my love of Jesus, that deep connection, and that bridal union and then pray to the Holy Spirit — it's like His permeating action within just ignites that flame of fire within us, to declare the love that we have for God to others. The Church is so beautiful and it's all there. It's almost like there's this blind covering that's over it, but to ignite the fire within with the love that God gives to us of Him as He outpours His grace and we're more saturated with His life within us.

    And then the documents of the Church are a living reality within our soul. The words of the Mass that are spoken that are so beautiful — can just be words that are just out there. Or they can be the very words that make our heart burn with the flame of His love that comes in and we unite to God in this Holy Sacrifice of helping — in our desire within us — to beg for that grace and mercy to be released to the people of this earth.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  This is the purpose that God wanted with this retreat when I got the message on the way down here when it started — to outpour our love to God to beg for that relationship with God back, to be sorry for our sins and the sins of the people of the earth that are not obeying the commandments and to beg for His mercy.

    Dear God that is what we do here today. And we work our way up to the Mass to be so deeply united, praying as intercessors for grace to be released for our beloved priests, and Church that we love and the world.

                        This is the daily message.

Help me to always love You in return. Help me to give myself entirely to You. Help me always to pour out my life in love of God and neighbor! Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You! Amen.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  I am going to read a little bit out of Response to God's Love - Chapter 6 on the Church because today — well today is the day that we meditate on the Sorrowful Mysteries, so the idea, and we've been leading up to this since this retreat started, is the idea of sacrifice and that Jesus is the Lamb of God. So when we go to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass — there'll be that burning in our heart more than ever before — to realize that God gives Himself in a different way because of our fuller understanding of sacrifice, the fact that He loves us, that He is the Lamb of God that shed His blood to pay the price for our sins.

    I love what Cardinal Ratzinger said — about the Church is in us. Because that's how it is, the more we pray for the Church the more we realize how much we love the Church. And what a gift God has given to us in the Church.

    We pray that the Church will be all that God wants the Church to be, to be that bride coming down out of heaven, adorned for the Bridegroom, so filled with light for the people that the people will love Jesus as their spouse, that they will come to the banquet and they will celebrate the gift — that God gives — Himself — to us.

    Dear Holy Spirit, enlighten our hearts and our souls to carry this message to the world, that they will be refreshed in a time in which there is much barrenness, in the hearts of the people, they will know what their souls seeks — is the love that God is giving them. And they will throw away the polluted rags and feast at the altar of the Lord.

    Oh God, grant us, a fuller understanding of sacrifice, that we can partake more deeply in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, so that grace will be outpoured to the souls of this earth. Let us never come to the Mass with our mind so filled with so many things, that we don't stop and give whatever it is in our hearts to Him, at that time. To realize the immense gift that God outpours to us at every Mass.

    When I received the message the day before yesterday from Our Lord, it seemed like there were so many distractions to stop me from doing what God wanted with this retreat. But the opportunity burned in my soul to pray so deeply for the world and that is where we have to be today. It is just kind of odd that the hurricane targeted, down there where the Virgin Mary Building is, at the exact time on August the 13th when the children were jailed at Fatima and we do that same prayer service August 13 as we did yesterday. And here where the Virgin Mary appeared on the building and Jesus' face is, they're undergoing all this — problems down there.

    But it is kind of like the funeral. It's like all this stuff goes on outside the Church and everybody's drawn into the Church and they really have a deep connection with the fact that something's going on here, that there's a heaven and we're down here.

    That's why I think that funeral Masses are so powerful because it's a time when people can really, maybe be changed, and converted. And I like to go to funeral Masses because I like to pray there really deeply. I feel close to heaven and I feel close to earth. And I feel the joy that this person is moved on and I want to pray really hard that they will be happy with God for all eternity.

    It's kind of like a bubble when you go into a church and there's a funeral, it's like a bubble. That's kind of like how we are down here in China during this retreat. We're like in a bubble. God has helped us to have the priests come and celebrate the Mass. And we center all of our prayers around that Holy Sacrifice whether it's around the world but the fact that it's right here in China. We come united praying so deeply for the priests, the Church and the world and I know because of the depth of my union with God and because of our intention here to pray, that tremendous grace is released. He tells me that. We know that from our prayers tremendous grace is released, but yesterday I saw so clearly how God is the Lamb. He is sacrificed for the sins of the people of this earth His death on the cross.

    And then there was the resurrection and our sharing in that life in Him. And then He gives us the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present. When we go to that Mass and we know when we pray most deeply that so much grace can be released and so we don't want to miss the opportunity ever, as members of the body of Christ to be united like we did in the Morning Offering and when we go to the Mass. We can't, we can't ever, realize that God has called us to a special mission to be intercessors.

    And in the world and the way that it is and the way that satan wants to press down, we just get a lot of distractions. But we have to pray for that grace, that God gives us the grace always, and that's why that Prayer Before the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is so important, because it helps bring us to that place of purity in our heart to want to partake as fully as we can.

    This is the mission God has called us in the Shepherds of Christ. This is what it is all about. It's about giving ourselves, our lives, every moment united to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and that's why it's important to get the cards in the nursing homes and the schools that the kids are saying their morning offering every day and that this grace is released.

    The gift that God gives to us in the Church, this fountain of life pouring forth, the Lamb of God Who gave Himself on the cross for our sins, gives us the Mass today. And there is so much grace that can be released. We are the body of Christ. This is what it's all about. It's being united to our Church with such love. Christ loves His body the Church.

    Oh God thank You for the gift of the Church and let us always sing forever Your praises. Let it never come forth from our lips in any way, derogatorily, the Name or the Word God, let us honor You and serve You and love You. Because we know in the suffering of Your bitter Passion when Your Heart was pierced — with the suffering — You knew that You would endure. Your Heart was filled with the sweetness from the love that we give to You today.

    As we can never recognize that gift of celibacy. It's so important I think in our Church and the way that the world is today and how God is offended by the impure sins. And here comes a priest or the servants or the handmaids or a sister or a brother and they say "God we give ourselves to You, in a special way, because You are our spouse. We are the spouse of the Lamb, the Lamb, Jesus Christ."

    Does He not deserve this love from the people He gave His live for? And He calls out His religious and these people that He will receive this special love. Oh God we love You so. We want to honor You and give You ourselves.

    Please have mercy on this world and forgive us and the world for the sins. And outpour Your grace that we will be enlightened that some day soon the world will be the way that You want it to be. And the Sacred Heart of Jesus will reign in the hearts of men — in all places and in all hearts. Amen.

Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Father Edward Carter, S.J.

                                  The Christian and Church

                                  God calls us to live the Christian existence, the spiritual life, within the framework of the Church that Jesus has established. This Church is a many-splendored reality; it has many different names, images, and dimensions that variously attest to and manifest this multifaceted richness. All of them, however, speak of one and the same reality;

{Messenger:  That's what's so awesome is that this is real. This is real - that God is. And the gifts that He can outpour to us and the sharing in His life is so far beyond anything that we can imagine.}

(RTGL continues) each in its own way emphasizes now this, now that, particular truth or truths of the Church's existence. Each of these dimensions or concepts of the Church has something to say to the individual Christian about his or her spiritual life. Let us briefly consider some of these facets.

       The Church is the Body of Christ. One of the truths that is emphasized by this concept is the idea of community. The communion that binds the members of the Church together is, in turn, connected with that wider idea of community that embraces the whole of mankind.

{Messenger:  And so we see the little communities, the family and the religious institutions. We see them as trying to grow in that greater perfection, to strengthen this communal union that should be in the Church amongst it's people.}

       (RTGL continues) The millions and millions of people the world over make up what might be called the world community.

{Messenger:  And then in turn strengthen the world community because the Church is a strong community. But naturally the devil is going to get in there and try to attack all of these institutions, to try to make so that they're divided. And the thing of it is, is that in the Church we have Jesus truly present in His Divinity and Humanity. What a gift! What a strengthening force. God dwells within us, in a special way, when we are in the state of grace. We are graced by this presence within us.}

(RTGL continues) The members of this cosmic community are supposed to live in a basic love for one another, united in bonds of mutual support and interdependence. This is true because God has created persons as social beings. We are not intended to cut an isolated path through life.

{Messenger:  So that is what I see, as soon as somebody has a problem with somebody, then they think, well I just go somewhere by themselves. Well how are they going to grow and be perfected and loving in union with one another if they are going to go hide if they're having a problem with somebody. We got to work it out. That's the thing. We can't do the work of God if we don't end up working in union with each other. Unless He's called us to be a hermit and then we've got that in our heart anyway that, that we're working for the world and the Church.}

(RTGL continues) We are meant to walk hand in hand with each other, to live within a societal structure, to help others in many different ways. What is more, we must also realize that, in achieving our destiny, we receive much aid, support, and love from others. There are all too many striking examples of how the modern world has failed to live community—more than enough to make us agonize over man's inhumanity toward his fellow human beings.

{Messenger:  And that's why Mary comes and she's got the answer, the Mary, the Queen of Peace, if we listened to her since the beginning of the century and at Fatima when she says that we must pray the rosary. Why? Because we meditate on the lives of Jesus and Mary. We must pray the rosary.}

(RTGL continues) But there are also many beautiful and ongoing examples of how the world has succeeded in living community—enough to strengthen our belief in the basic goodness of the human heart.

       The leader in helping form a better community among the members of the human family is the Christian community, the Body of Christ. God has established the Church as a leaven for the development of a graced society of human beings. The bonds of union that hold the human race together have been strengthened by the redemptive work of Christ. Despite the fact that many do not realize it, there is only one fundamental community that embraces everybody—and it is Christic. The Christian community is, in turn, a great channel of grace that deepens this Christic image of the world society.

       If the Church is to be a proper leaven for the formation of a better world community, however, she herself has to progress in a sense of community. There must be a growing understanding of the truths and principles that pertain to Christian community, and a growing desire to explore practical ways to implement these principles.

       Throughout the course of salvation history, God has always communicated himself within the framework of community. In saying this, we are not maintaining that God does not communicate himself to individuals in a very intimate and personal manner that respects their uniqueness, their individuality. We are saying, however, that God communicates himself to a person according to his or her totality, and one dimension of this totality is the social aspect. God has respected this social dimension; in his self-communication he has called us together in religious community, or covenant. It seems that in our present age God is beckoning us to a deeper realization of these truths.

       The Christian community is a terrestrial reflection of the ultimate and absolute community—namely, the Trinity.

{Messenger:  I love this, this just makes my heart burn.}

(RTGL continues) In a special way, we are privileged to give witness to Trinitarian life, a life of divine intimacy and loving.

{Messenger:  Three Persons in one God, the perfect community.}

(RTGL continues) From all eternity, the persons of the Trinity are united in the most intimate bonds of knowledge and love; these have also brought about creation and redemption.

{Messenger:  The 3 Persons of the Trinity, perfect — One God.}

       (RTGL continues) Grace, or the Christ-life, is a created participation in Trinitarian life. This Christ-life, consequently, calls us to a special existence of knowing and loving. Christian faith and love, which are created participations in the Trinity's knowing and loving, allow us to know and love God in a special manner. Faith and love also give us a new capacity to relate to both our fellow Christians and to all others as well.

{Messenger:  So do you see why God has called us to be a special community in the Church that is united in such oneness as deep intercessors praying for the priests and the Church and the world. And when God gives us these guidelines to grow, to be more perfected as a community that some day that we will be an order. We have to follow that way of life that God has given to us in our prayer life, in our living as this special body of people that are asked by God to live this way to be intercessors praying for the priests, the Church and the world.

Messenger:        Most Sacred Heart of
                                Jesus let my Heart
                                be likened to thine.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  We want to say the consecration prayer to the Sacred Heart again and think about all the words in that prayer as we pray that. The mission that God has called us to, to help to renew the Church and the world.

Act of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  That's what Fr. Carter would always talk about — the 3 loves. You know you got to have them. Love of God, love of one another and love of self. If you leave the love of God out and you just focus on love of one another and love of self you just lost the main thing, that power that's coming down from God. If all you think about is love of God and love of self and you say well I'm not going to end up working stuff out with people because they get in my way or I can't get along with them. That's why we're down here. We are down here to become more perfected in our ways of loving so that we are more liked to Him and we got to learn to get along. And we're all imperfect, that's the other thing, we're all imperfect. We all have little quirks and things and stuff that just end up coming out at different times and we keep going back to our source, our measuring stick which is Jesus our model, praying the rosary and knowing Him. That's why today is so important, I wish we had the Passion movie to watch, the Passion movie, but we can do that in our heart. We can do that with the screen to see God in His love for us.

This is from Revelation — the Song of Victory.

Revelation 19: 5-7

     Then a voice came from the throne; it said, ‘Praise our God, you servants of his and those who fear him, small and great alike.’ And I heard what seemed to be the voices of a huge crowd, like the sound of the ocean or the great roar of thunder, answering, ‘Alleluia! The reign of the Lord our God Almighty has begun; let us be glad and joyful and give glory to God,...

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  And this is what I want to focus on because this is what Jesus said to focus on in this retreat. You know we sing this Lamb of God at Mass all the time. I love the Lamb of God. Because we are singing:

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
    have mercy on us.
 Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
    have mercy on us.
 Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
    grant us peace.

That is such a powerful song.

Revelation 19: 7-8

...because this is the time for the marriage of the Lamb. His bride is ready, and she has been able to dress herself in dazzling while linen, because her linen is made of the good deeds of the saints.’

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  The Pilgrim Church and God has called us in this Movement to help renew the Church and the world by giving ourselves as special intercessors praying for the Church that it will be the way that God wants it to be. That's why yesterday I could see so clear, it was just so evident, that one son that does not follow his vocation and the good that one priest can do. And then we have to realize that we have to do what God wants us to do, what that is, we don't want to do more or less, we want to do what God is telling us to do. To tell the world how wonderful the Church is and the priesthood because maybe that son that did not answer his calling to the priesthood didn't get enough prompting, whether it was at high school, college, parents, whatever it is. We want to pray that the institutions that teach our young are in the right place to foster that desire, to follow the vocation that God has called them to.

Revelation 19: 9-10

The angel said, ‘Write this, "Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb," ’ and he added, ‘These words of God are true.’ Then I knelt at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, ‘Never do that: I am your fellow–servant...

Messenger:  And then the other Revelation that we all go over all the time and love that's in our souls.

Revelation 21: 1-3

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride dressed for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, ‘Look, here God lives among human beings. He will make his home among them; they will be his people, and he will be their God, God–with–them.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  That's what we pray for, that there will be that oneness that the people of this earth will obey His commandments and recognize — God — as the King of their hearts. Amen.

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Messenger:        WE ARE SPOUSE OF THE
                                LAMB.

                            Today let us gaze upon HIM.

                                The Lamb of God

                            The One who paid the price for
                                our sins.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  In the messages this week we talked about sacrifice and that the Jewish priests and pagan priests sacrificed the bullock or ram but Christ comes to us and Christ gives to us, Himself. He is the Lamb.

Excerpt from August 12, 2004 message

Messenger:        A story

                            A little boy went to school and
                                cheated –– the head of the
                                school wanted to expel
                                the little boy ––

                            The big brother came in and
                                said expel me and let
                                my little brother go,

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  And it's Christ Who is the sinless One, the Son of God comes and gives Himself on the cross for our sins. He died — for our sins, that we would have that sharing, in His life.

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Messenger:        Grace flows to us through
                                the Church.

                            We share in His life.

                            Let us be transformed.

                            Let us focus on the love
                                of the Trinity —
                                how God dwells
                                so much in a special
                                way in the graced soul.

                            Let us think about our
                                Love for the Persons of
                                the Trinity.

                            Father,
                            Son and
                            Holy Spirit

                            Holy Saturday Night Readings

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  And then I love those readings of Holy Saturday. Today that's kind of what we go over in this third day of the retreat and meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the rosary and the wonderfulness of that Holy Saturday Night. And this afternoon we'll go into those readings of Holy Saturday Night so — that tomorrow we can focus on the resurrection — and what a glorious event that is, and how God gives Himself to us, and how out of this retreat we will grow more intimately with Him, and live that death-resurrection in our hearts.

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Jesus speaks:    Could you not watch and wait one hour
                                with Me?

Messenger:        See visibly how the apostles slept
                                in the garden —
                                See Jesus hung over a rock —
                                Jesus in such pain and suffering —
                                Knowing what would happen —
                                Seeing the souls of today —
                                Their anguish — their pain —
                                Their hungering and thirsting

                            Seeing the souls that would go to hell
                                forever despite His love for them
                                and desire of Him that they love
                                and serve Him.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  Yesterday I thought of that how painful that would be to realize that one soul would not go to heaven. Can you imagine Christ in the garden seeing vividly the souls that would be lost despite all the suffering that He was about to undergo because He loved them so much.

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Messenger:        If we can see Peter and the apostles
                                sleeping — we can see how many
                                times Jesus calls us and we tell
                                Him we are too busy.

                            Can we see Judas —
                                Jesus loved Judas so much —
                                Judas betrayed Jesus

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  We pray for the grace in our hearts that we will always, always choose God in our lives that we will be with Him forever in heaven. We pray to be able to resist the temptations of this world that we will be united with — Him — for all eternity. That we will give ourselves more fully to Him and that we will be the ones to help promote His Kingdom. Amen.

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Messenger:        Oh lights of heaven shine
                                on all the darkened corners
                                of the earth below.

                            Oh that the Light of the Holy Spirit would fill us
                                and give our hearts such joy —
                                Oh Holy Spirit come to me —
                                a sinner — one weak in my
                                faith — strengthen me —
                                enlighten me to know God —
                                to love Him more deeply.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  And we think of John the Baptist and how he's a voice in the desert calling out and today in this barrenness of many parts of the earth God has called us to be that voice praising Him and loving Him in a desert land and putting it in His hands that He will outpour the grace because of the gift of our life given to love and serve Him and to do His will.

Sing: A Voice Cries Out

Messenger:  Sing! Dear God we come to You! We love You. We give You ourselves. We pray for this world in the condition of what's ever going on with that Hurricane. We give ourselves to You, we pray for grace and we pray that in this retreat that our hearts will be filled with such love for You and that You will give us a special grace of healing to be more perfected and love You more deeply. God please, have mercy on us! Help us to be with You forever in heaven in the deepest union. Help us to judge correctly in all of our decisions that we make in handling others. But help us always to do Your will even when it's difficult. God we love You. Please hear our prayer.

Sing: A Voice Cries Out

Messenger:  And then we have to think about this — the barrenness of the earth and think about the barrenness of Sarah, the barrenness of Elizabeth. And God is Mighty.

    Let our hearts be consumed with love for the Father because He is tremendous and we love Him so very, very much. God we worship You, we adore You. And in this dialogue we give ourselves to You.

Sing: Miracle of Life

Messenger:  Dear God increase our faith.

Sing: Miracle of Life

Messenger:  And we got to focus on the Trinity and our love for the 3 Persons and how deeply we love Them and that's what God wants this morning and to sing to our God and to tell Him of this love.

Sing: Dwelling Place

Messenger:  This is a song that Our Lord really wanted us to sing because we are planting these seeds that we may not be the ones that get them out.

    You have to really sing this because Jesus really wants to hear it.

Sing:  Come With Me into the Fields

Messenger:  This is a good part, the seeds were sown by other hands than yours. So Fr. Carter died and now we got the seeds in there.

Sing:  Come With Me into the Fields

Sing: Ashes

Sing: Jesus the Bread of Life

Sing: What You Hear in the Dark

Sing: Save Us Oh Lord

Sing: Without Clouds

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Messenger:        THE LAMB WAS

                        SACRIFICED FOR

                        OUR SINS.

                  WE PRAY FOR Mercy to

                              our God.

August 14, 2004 Talk from the Retreat continues

Messenger:  And everybody can sing this one because we all know it.

This is the song of this retreat because we want to pray this with all of our hearts.

Jesus is the Lamb of God and He loves us so much that He gave Himself for us.

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

Sing: Lamb of God

Messenger:        We honor His pierced Heart

John 19: 25-27

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. Seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near her, Jesus said to his mother, ‘Woman, this is your son.’ Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

Sing: My God and My All

Excerpt from August 14, 2004 daily message

                        Sing: Litany to the Sacred Heart

Litany of the Sacred Heart

Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.
God the Father of heaven, have mercy on us (repeat after each invocation).
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
God the Holy Spirit,
Holy Trinity, one God,
Heart of Jesus, Son of the eternal Father,
Heart of Jesus, formed by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mother,
Heart of Jesus, substantially united to the Word of God,
Heart of Jesus, of infinite majesty,
Heart of Jesus, sacred temple of God,
Heart of Jesus, tabernacle of the Most High,
Heart of Jesus, house of God and gate of heaven,
Heart of Jesus, burning furnace of charity,
Heart of Jesus, abode of justice and love,
Heart of Jesus, full of goodness and love,
Heart of Jesus, abyss of all virtues,
Heart of Jesus, most worthy of all praise,
Heart of Jesus, king and center of all hearts,
Heart of Jesus, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge,
Heart of Jesus, in whom dwells the fullness of divinity,
Heart of Jesus, in whom the Father is well pleased,
Heart of Jesus, of whose fullness we have all received,
Heart of Jesus, desire of the everlasting hills,
Heart of Jesus, patient and most merciful,
Heart of Jesus, enriching all who invoke You,
Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness,
Heart of Jesus, propitiation for our sins,
Heart of Jesus, loaded down with opprobrium,
Heart of Jesus, bruised for our offenses,
Heart of Jesus, obedient even to death,
Heart of Jesus, pierced with a lance,
Heart of Jesus, source of all consolation,
Heart of Jesus, our life and reconciliation,
Heart of Jesus, victim of sin,
Heart of Jesus, salvation of those who hope in You,
Heart of Jesus, hope of those who die in You,
Heart of Jesus, delight of all the saints,
Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto Yours.

Let us pray: O almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of Your dearly beloved Son and upon the praise and satisfaction He offers You in behalf of sinners and, being appeased, grant pardon to those who seek Your mercy, in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen.
