The Birth of the Full Ministries
of the Shepherds of Christ
"I wish to share with you part of a message which Jesus gave us on October 13, 1994. The message tells us about the expansion of the Shepherds of Christ movement:
'My beloved priest-companion, today I come to you with another mission. I am asking you to establish Shepherds of Christ Ministries. At My request you have already begun the priestly newsletter, "Shepherds of Christ", and the prayer chapters, Shepherds of Christ Associates...
'I am giving you this message on this day, the 77th Anniversary of the Great Apparition at Fatima, because of the close connection between the Shepherds of Christ movement and the Fatima message. The Fatima message is centered in devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart, especially in consecration to Our Hearts. Shepherds of Christ Ministries is also centered in devotion to Our Hearts. I will use Shepherds of Christ Ministries as a great instrument in helping to bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. When this occurs, My Church and the world will be experiencing the great era of peace promised by My Mother at Fatima.
'Today, then, October 13, 1994, the 77th Anniversary of the Great Apparition at Fatima, marks the birth of Shepherds of Christ Ministries. I pour forth the great love of My Sacred Heart to all. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock.'

Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus
My dear fellow Associate Members,
Jesus is calling special apostles to join a new division of the Shepherds of Christ Movement. Here is a message from Jesus given to Father Carter:
My beloved priest-companion, I am requesting that a new prayer movement be started under the direction of Shepherds of Christ Ministries. I am asking for volunteers who are willing to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for one hour, twice-weekly. Members of the Shepherds of Christ prayer chapters, as well as others, are to be invited to join this movement.
These apostles are to pray for the intentions I am giving you. For part of the hour they are to use the prayers of the Shepherds of Christ Associates Handbook. They may spend the rest of the hour as they so choose.
I will use this new prayer movement within My Shepherds of Christ Ministries in a powerful way to help in the renewal of My Church and the world. I will give great graces to those who join this movement. The name, Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, is to be given to this movement.
I am inviting My beloved Rita Ring to be coordinator for this activity.
I pour out the great love of My Sacred Heart to all. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock.
This is indeed a special calling for us to unite in one heart with His Eucharistic Heart and pray for the following intentions:
- For the spread of the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary culminating in the reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
- For the Pope.
- For all bishops of the world.
- For all priests.
- For all sisters and brothers in the religious life.
- For all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, and for the spread of this movement to the world.
- For all members of the Catholic Church.
- For all members of the human family.
- For all souls in purgatory.

I give my heart to Jesus and Mary with you in love! I write this for the honor and glory of God and in thanksgiving to Jesus for calling me to this Movement.Jesus says in St. John's Gospel, "You did not choose me, no, I chose you…" Jn 15:16.
What a calling! To be chosen to be a Handmaid of the Good Shepherd! His special spouse! The spouse of THE KING & CREATOR of the Universe!
WOW! And a Movement personally directed by Jesus! Thank you, Jesus!
Words cannot express all I would like to say. Since 1st grade I wanted to be a nun. I saw the nuns at my school and I wanted to be like them. Unfortunately growing up... all the peer pressure in school and the struggles of young adulthood took away any hope of being a nun. I followed the ways of the world and left Jesus out of my life.
During my senior year of nursing, the seed of pursuing a religious vocation sprang up again in my heart. I started attending daily Mass as often as I could, and Mary our Mother was bringing me closer to Jesus. My 1st choice was Mother Teresa's Order, however, that didn't happen for me.
After graduation from nursing school I went to a Bible Institute Retreat at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. While there, I attended a Baptism of the Spirit Seminar and felt a strong presence of the Holy Spirit.
That fall, in 1996, I went back to Ohio for another retreat, and while I was in the chapel one evening, I picked up God's Blue Book II and read a message on Communion from Jesus. I almost fell out of my pew! The message touched me deep in my heart. Thankfully, I was able to take the book home. the messages were awesome! I never knew of having such an intimate relationship with Jesus!
I started spending an hour everyday after Mass. I joined the Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart and later started a Shepherds of Christ Prayer Chapter. I got the other Blue Books, the rosary book and rosary tapes. I felt so committed to praying the prayers and the rosary mediations were so powerful! I thank Jesus and Mary for all these revelations!
I heard about the handmaids in 1998, while ordering through the Shepherds of Christ. I was really interested in them. I thought maybe this is where God is calling me. I kept praying to do His will.
Jesus, in His time, made it all work out. When we give our lives to Jesus, He can do more than we could ever ask for or imagine! Jesus loves us!
I feel so blessed and privileged to be in the formation of being a handmaid! Thank you, my Father, for this Movement and all the beautiful people in it! Thank you, Holy Spirit, for your tremendous work in my soul! Thank you, Jesus, for choosing me for this special calling. And like Mary, my life is a continuous FIAT. "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." and "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word."

MESSAGE FOR NURSING HOME
Jesus speaks:
Time here is so short, here today - gone tomorrow. I came to this earth that you may have life and have it to the full. Life is not life if it is not rooted in Me - it is mere existence. The Father created you with the greatest love. You are His precious child. There is not another person like you. The Father loved you so much He sent His only begotten Son into the world so that you might be saved. I want you to be with Me forever in heaven, joined in such union with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Oh, sweet one, open your heart and pray to Me. Pray to the Spirit to lead you. Life here is but a passing moment, the dropping of a pin, the batting of an eye.
I ask you for two things: love of God, love of one another. Hearken to My call. Close your eyes and open your hearts. Forgive all those who have offended you. It is only in a pure heart that I can be close to you. To hold on to anger and hatred is to make your hearts hard. Your home in heaven is beyond all comprehension. Live to spread My love that you may forever dwell with Me for all eternity in the courts of heaven.
I love you. I love you. I love you. You are My precious ones. Trade any
bitterness you have for My divine love. I love you so much. Offer up your
sufferings for the souls that are hurting. It is in loving you will find joy.
All that you do, do it for love of God and love of your brother, and someday you
will inherit a Kingdom far beyond your comprehension. Heaven is a reward
promised to those who love and serve the Lord. I am the Bread of Life. He who
comes to Me will never be hungry. It is in loving you will find your greatest
peace.
Matthew 11:28
'Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.
Messenger: Alleluia, Alleluia, and He gave to them great graces to be drawn ever closer to His Sacred heart, the Heart of burning love.
Mary speaks: My dear children, I am your Mother Mary. I ask you to pray the rosary from your heart. Put yourself there in the lives of my Son, Jesus, and me.
In meditating on Our lives you will grow more and more into the image of Jesus, my Son. He loves you so much. He gave His flesh and Blood for you. He would die for you this day.
My sweet children, open up your hearts and let me lead you to His loving Heart. He loves you so much!

What has Shepherds of Christ and being a Handmaid done for my life and for my relationship with Jesus?I first heard of Shepherds of Christ from a letter received concerning a rosary gathering at Tom’s Farm in October 1996. My family already had plans for the 13th. When I received a notice for November 13th my brother and I went not knowing much about Shepherds of Christ, but if it was praying the rosary-it had to be good. It was the most powerful rosary I ever attended. I didn’t go for several months, but felt drawn to this ministry and compelled to pray the prayers and read the blue books. Jesus was talking directly to me through them and it was great.
Jesus has always worked slowly in my heart. Pain and suffering in my early adult life brought me to realize that God was the only one I could turn to in my need. God alone was my strength.
In July 1997, news came that the department where I worked was being phased out by the parent company on the east coast. I was disenchanted with my job and I only continued working there to live, so I wasn’t concerned about the lack of a job.
During this same time, I felt pulled in my heart to pray with Shepherds of Christ as a body. I was shy and I would just come, sit, pray and be silent, not really talking to anyone very much.
I knew from my childhood that I would never marry. The pull Jesus had on me was stronger than the world’s, though I didn’t realize the source. For the past year I had become closer to Jesus and I felt what I would do with my life, next, would be for him alone.
On August 13, 1998, I went to China, Indiana, to the monthly rosary knowing something was going to happen-but not knowing what. During the rosary the president of Shepherds of Christ started reading a letter from Jesus about women being called as handmaids and their way of life. I felt the power of the Holy Spirit descend on my head and I was glad to be sitting. I knew Jesus was calling me to become a handmaid, a call that I had been waiting patiently for, for over two years.
After the rosary I acted on the Holy Spirit’s prompting immediately-knowing if I didn’t, I would find excuses not to. Jesus’ hand is very strong in my life. I was accepted as a candidate for a handmaid within a few days and gave two weeks notice at work. I found myself in Clearwater, Florida, within three weeks.
As a Handmaid of the Good Shepherd my life is very prayerful and very one on one with Jesus as His spouse. He is the Bridegroom of my Soul. Just being with him after Mass and in front of the tabernacle is candy to my soul and leaves me speechless. Being a handmaid has brought the joy, love and peace of my Divine Bridegroom into my life to an extent I didn’t even know could exist.
He calls me to constant change and growth. I cannot remain the same, for my life and love for him would stagnate. I live to serve him. I have only scratched the surface of the depth to which my soul craves union with my Lord and Savior. Any life in God is hard work, but the rewards are unbounded.
Jesus loves each and everyone of us on a personal level. He died on the cross to save each soul. He, the living God, is truly waiting in the tabernacle for us, to love us, if we would only come and sit with him.
Since my move to Clearwater, Florida, in 1998, I have recently traveled to China, Indiana, for a stay and I am currently in Morrow, Ohio, doing the work Jesus has called me to do. Jesus knows where I will be next, even though I do not.
There is nothing boring about being on Jesus’ roller coaster. The ride is into eternity! I can’t wait to see you there!
Here is Deacon Bill who has been
a member of Shepherds of Christ
a long time.
I will put this message in a more
prominent place soon, but
here is what was in the
Iowa diocese Papers.
Deacon attracted to Prayer-filled ministry
By RENEE WEBB, Globe editor
Posted January 16, 2003A strong devotion to the two hearts - Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary - and the rosary drew a deacon of the Sioux City Diocese to the Shepherds of Christ Ministry.
Bill Berger, a deacon who ministers at St. Michael Church in Sioux City, became an associate of the Shepherds of Christ in the early 1990s after he committed himself to completing prayers in the Shepherds of Christ Prayer Manual on a daily basis as well as a participating in a perpetual novena.
"It consists of two nine-day novenas to the Holy Spirit," he explained. The Shepherds of Christ Ministry, based out of Morrow, Ohio provides a scripture meditation for associates of the ministry to reflect upon. "The Shepherds of Christ associates pray it everyday and as a result, there is a unification of Scripture and meditation everyday starting at 6:20 p.m. - that is the time that everyone tries to pray together."
Prayers outlined in the prayer manual include hymns and silent, personal prayer along with structured versions such as the rosary, Prayer of St. Michael, the Memorare and litanies to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Sacred Heart.
"I used to pray the rosary everyday anyway," explained Berger. "This fit right in with what I had been doing at the Queen of Peace - praying the rosary everyday at 4 o'clock. I still do that today."
Prayer chapters have been established throughout the nation and in 90 counties.
The deacon formed a prayer chapter in 1997 in Sioux City. He leads a weekly prayer meeting every Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at Trinity Heights' Marian Center. Most weeks about five or six people attend. While he is not aware of other groups in the diocese, he does know there are others in Iowa and surrounding states.
Founded by the late Father Edward Carter, who died of cancer in the year 2000, the ministry was intended to pray for priests and a renewal of the church and world. Ordained a Jesuit priest in 1962, Father Carter received his doctorate in theology from Catholic University of America and was a longtime professor of theology at Xavier University in Cincinnati. He authored 17 books in the area of Catholic spirituality.
His last two books were built upon six years of spirituality newsletters that he sent to about 70,000 priests throughout the world. Prior to the increased lay involvement in the ministry, originally most of the participants were priests and bishops.
Noted Berger, "The novena has the meditation on Scripture and the prayers in the prayer manual go along with the whole theme of praying for the renewal of the church and world."
The deacon pointed out that he had the opportunity to pray with Father Carter, a native of Cincinnati, on several occasions and found him to be a deeply spiritual man.
To encourage people to be reminded of the necessity to pray the rosary as Our Lady requested at Fatima, Deacon Berger gives away pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary to friends.
"We are trying to promote prayer in the home as well as in the church," he explained. "In this time of such disorder and such conflict, and such a strain on families to pray together this is important."
According to Berger, it takes about one hour to pray as outlined in the prayer manual. He encouraged people to pray together on a daily basis whether it be with one's spouse, children or a friend.
Eventually, he plans to send some information about the Shepherds of Christ school rosary program to the Catholic schools in the diocese so they can learn about "the message of Fatima - Mary's peace plan. She said that until a sufficient number have consecrated their hearts to the hearts of Jesus and Mary we will not have peace in the world."
In 1917, Mary appeared to three children and told them she wanted people to pray the rosary daily.

I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.Mary's Message from the Rosary of

- Those who promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.
- I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the first Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
Matthew 8: 23-27
The calming of the storm
Then he got into the boat followed by his disciples. Suddenly a storm broke over the lake, so violent that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But he was asleep. So they went to him and woke him saying, ‘Save us, Lord, we are lost!’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you so frightened, you who have so little faith?’ And then he stood up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. They were astounded and said, ‘Whatever kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?’

Baptism of Jesus
1.
John 14: 2-3In my Father’s house
there are many places to live in;
otherwise I would have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you,
and after I have gone
and prepared you a place,
I shall return to take you to myself,
so that you may be with me
where I am.
2.
Genesis3. John 14: 6
Jesus said:
I am the Way; I am Truth and Life.
No one can come to the Father
except through me.
4. Matthew 3: 13-17
Then Jesus appeared: he came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John. John tried to dissuade him, with the words, ‘It is I who need baptism from you, and yet you come to me!’ But Jesus replied, ‘Leave it like this for the time being; it is fitting that we should, in this way, do all that uprightness demands.’ Then John gave in to him.
And when Jesus had been baptised he at once came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him. And suddenly there was a voice from heaven, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on him.’

6.
Mark 1: 7-11In the course of his preaching he said, ‘After me is coming someone who is more powerful than me, and I am not fit to kneel down and undo the strap of his sandals. I have baptised you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.’
Jesus is baptised
It was at this time that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John. And at once, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, like a dove, descending on him. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.’
7.
Luke 3: 15-16, 21-22A feeling of expectancy had grown among the people, who were beginning to wonder whether John might be the Christ, so John declared before them all, ‘I baptise you with water, but someone is coming, who is more powerful than me, and I am not fit to undo the strap of his sandals; he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Jesus is baptised
Now it happened that when all the people had been baptised and while Jesus after his own baptism was at prayer, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in a physical form, like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son; today have I fathered you.’

Last Supper
1.
John 6: 1-15After this, Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee—or of Tiberias—and a large crowd followed him, impressed by the signs he had done in curing the sick. Jesus climbed the hillside and sat down there with his disciples. The time of the Jewish Passover was near.
Looking up, Jesus saw the crowds approaching and said to Philip, ‘Where can we buy some bread for these people to eat?’ He said this only to put Philip to the test; he himself knew exactly what he was going to do. Philip answered, ‘Two hundred denarii would not buy enough to give them a little piece each.’ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said, ‘Here is a small boy with five barley loaves and two fish; but what is that among so many?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Make the people sit down.’ There was plenty of grass there, and as many as five thousand men sat down. Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were sitting there; he then did the same with the fish, distributing as much as they wanted. When they had eaten enough he said to the disciples, ‘Pick up the pieces left over, so that nothing is wasted.’ So they picked them up and filled twelve large baskets with scraps left over from the meal of five barley loaves. Seeing the sign that he had done, the people said, ‘This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world.’ Jesus, as he realised they were about to come and take him by force and make him king, fled back to the hills alone.
2. Philippians 2:8-9

3. Deuteronomy 8:2-3
Remember the long road by which Yahweh your God led you for forty years in the desert, to humble you, to test you and know your inmost heart—whether you would keep his commandments or not. He humbled you, he made you feel hunger, he fed you with manna which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that human beings live not on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of Yahweh.
4. Deuteronomy 8:14-16
do not become proud of heart. Do not then forget Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the place of slave–labour, who guided you through this vast and dreadful desert, a land of fiery snakes, scorpions, thirst; who in this waterless place brought you water out of the flinty rock; who in this desert fed you with manna unknown to your ancestors, to humble you and test you and so make your future the happier.

John 6: 51-52I am the living bread
which has come down from heaven.

will live for ever;
and the bread that I shall give
is my flesh, for the life of the world.'Then the Jews started arguing among themselves, 'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?'

8. Psalm 147: 12-15, 19-20
Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem,
Zion, praise your God.For he gives strength to the bars of your gates,
he blesses your children within you,
he maintains the peace of your frontiers,
gives you your fill of finest wheat. He sends his word to the earth,
his command runs quickly,He reveals his word to Jacob,
his statutes and judgements to Israel.
For no other nation has he done this,
no other has known his judgements.
9. Mark 14: 12-16, 22-26
Preparations for the Passover supper
On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, his disciples said to him, ‘Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?’ So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, ‘Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him, and say to the owner of the house which he enters, "The Master says: Where is the room for me to eat the Passover with my disciples?" He will show you a large upper room furnished with couches, all prepared. Make the preparations for us there.’ The disciples set out and went to the city and found everything as he had told them, and prepared the Passover.
The institution of the Eucharist
And as they were eating he took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it to them. ‘Take it,’ he said, ‘this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he handed it to them, and all drank from it, and he said to them, ‘This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, poured out for many. In truth I tell you, I shall never drink wine any more until the day I drink the new wine in the kingdom of God.’
Peter’s denial foretold
After the psalms had been sung they left for the Mount of Olives.
10. John 6: 51-58
I am the living bread
which has come down from heaven.
Anyone who eats this bread
will live for ever;
and the bread that I shall give
is my flesh, for the life of the world.'Then the Jews started arguing among themselves, 'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?' Jesus replied to them:
In all truth I tell you,
if you do not eat
the flesh of the Son of man
and drink his blood,
you have no life in you.
Anyone who does eat my flesh
and drink my blood
has eternal life,
and I shall raise that person up
on the last day.
For my flesh is real food
and my blood is real drink.
Whoever eats my flesh
and drinks my blood
lives in me
and I live in that person.
As the living Father sent me
and I draw life from the Father,
so whoever eats me
will also draw life from me.
This is the bread
which has come down from heaven;
it is not like the bread our ancestors ate:
they are dead,
but anyone who eats this bread
will live for ever.
