Dear Member and Donor,

I give my heart to Jesus and Mary with you in love. Merry Christmas!

Jesus asked me to send you Blue Book 11. In this troubled world we can turn to Jesus.

Here is what Jesus said to tell you.

Excerpt from Response in Christ - Chapter 4 by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.

In schematic outline we have discussed the manner in which the baptized Christian extends his Mass to his daily existence. As he so lives out his Mass, he is becoming more Christlike. He becomes a more perfect priest and victim for his next participation in the eucharistic sacrifice.42 The beautiful cycle which the Mass contains lies exposed before us. As part of this cycle the Christian is intimately involved in the process of continued redemption. The Mass is the center of the Christian life: ". . . the liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the fount from which all her power flows."43

Jesus: I call you to live your lives as devout members of the mystical body of Christ. I have given these writings that men will realize that they are to live united deeply to the Mass going on around the world. Your lives, given as an offering, a sacrifice every moment in union with the Mass going on around the world. Your life, a sacrifice, offered to the Father, in union with the Mass in oneness with Me, in the Holy Spirit through the intercession of the Blessed Mother with all the angels and saints and the souls in purgatory.

Your lives given as members of My mystical body can help to bring down great graces for the priest, the Church and the world.

Excerpt from Response in Christ - Chapter 4 by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.

"How does the Christian help Christ redeem the world? (Henceforth the term "world" is to be understood as including both rational and nonrational creation.) As previously stated, the Christian helps Christ redeem the world by reliving Christ's mysteries. The same "events" or mysteries which accomplished the objective redemption further the subjective redemption also. Since at the heart of Christ's mysteries are His death and Resurrection, it is especially these that the Christian must relive. As the Christian dies mystically with Christ through loving conformity with the Father's will, he rises with Christ to an ever greater share in the Resurrection, in the newness of life, in the life of grace. As the Christian in this manner relives the paschal mystery of Christ, he is accomplishing not only his own redemption, but he is also, in a mysterious yet real manner, helping Christ redeem the world."

TWO    Christian Life within the Church (excerpt)

1.  The Church as People of God and Body of Christ

The Christian lives out his following of Christ within a communal framework. God communicates Himself to us not as to isolated individuals, but as to individuals who make up a religious community. We are the People of God. Each of us is intended to be a fully active member of the Church according to his vocation. The Church is not made up of active hierarchy and passive masses. The Church is not meant to be a community in which the bishops actively teach, guide, and sanctify a passive group of faithful. Rather we are all to be fully active, contributing members. Obviously, we contribute diversely according to our basic vocations and personal uniqueness. But to live a full and actively contributing life, a life open to attaining mature holiness—this is the vocation of all of us. There are no second-class citizens in the Church.

The People of God, as they themselves live the Christ-life, are called to a life of service. They are called to a mission of helping to channel the Christ-life to all men. As a pilgrim Church traveling through history to eternal life, the People of God have the privilege and responsibility of assisting Christ in the continuing work of redemption.

Some two thousand years ago Christ walked this earth teaching, healing the sick, forgiving sins, extending His mercy and kindness. By such a life which culminated in death and Resurrection, Christ redeemed the world. This objective redemption was accomplished by Christ alone. Through it, He won for men of all time the necessary graces for their salvation and sanctification.

However, it is necessary that such graces be distributed to each individual as he plays out his part in the drama of human existence. Such a distribution of grace is the work of subjective redemption. Unlike the work of objective redemption, Christ does not execute subjective redemption alone. Rather it is Christ and His members who complete the work of redemption.

Christ walked this earth those many years ago in His physical body, and through that body objectively redeemed the world. Today, He still walks the earth completing the work of redemption. However, He now walks the earth according to a different type of existence. He does not walk the earth in His physical body, but rather in His Mystical Body, the Church, the People of God. Through the members of His Church, Christ continues to be present to men as He teaches, administers the sacraments, extends His mercy–all done through the members of His Body, the Church. This mystical Christ, in turn, derives all supernatural power from Christ, the Head, who reigns gloriously with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

The Church, therefore, is the earthly continuation of Christ's redemptive Incarnation. This mission which the Church has, although a great responsibility, is also a great privilege. So it is for the individual Christian within the Church. Christ asks him to fulfill a unique role in the continued working out of salvation history. As we have previously stated, no one else can fulfill this unique role except the individual Christian. This is so because no human person in the history of mankind is exactly like another. Each Christian is a unique imitation of the Trinity. Through each Christian Christ wants to continue His redemptive Incarnation in a special way. Each member of the Church is called upon to offer Christ a new humanity through which Christ may express Himself to the world. In proportion as each Christian so offers and commits himself to Christ, the Church in her entirety more and more mirrors forth Christ to the world. This Christ, whom the Church portrays to the world, is the Christ who is prophet, king and priest.

                January 4, 2014

                R. We see the effects of World War II. It was
a World War. Before a war of great explosion
as this, there is much division and hatred in
the hearts. The mind is important to unity.
If a couple marries and begins to dislike their
spouse's ways and starts thinking dividing
thoughts, holding out needed time together,
playing games which show a way one tries
to force their way into the marriage commitment,
being busy so there is no unity, never being
united in love and conversation – soon there
will be something to stop this for one person
                playing passive-aggressive, power games on
another will be almost too much for the other person
to handle who just wants to live in peace.
In this type of marriage or any relationship
                where passive-aggressive games are played
there is such hatred in these selfish unloving,
even cold war ways. Soon the other cannot
even stand the tension. If there is a divorce
a lawyer is usually called in to settle things
and then it is like the time after a war –
sufferings from separation of a relationship
along with children who could be involved –
a feeling of betrayal, a feeling of getting even
or continuing one's bad habits of controlling,
                passive-aggressive, tension one forced on
others. So as the old story goes - one, rather
than changing, can try the same isolated,
                passive-aggressive behavior elsewhere,
and use greater force to implement the
no touch, no talk, no feel attitude. Soldiers
wounded in action - seeking love - the reason
God created us to love and to learn to love –
putting God first, loving others and loving
                oneself as God intends.

We are here to spread love, to live as
brothers and sisters, to be united all over
the world as creatures, created by God
to love. We see cold wars among countries
that need each other and held out and didn't
                want to work together.

The pope as the vicar of the Church is
to bring unity to the world. The Church
is one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic.

The Church was instituted by Christ to
                give grace.

                    The individual Christian, the Church
and the world is in the state of becoming –
God wants us to reach maturity – to be
likened to Christ – to be guided by the Holy Spirit,
to be rooted in God and rooted in love.

Marriage is to be a small unit where
man and woman respect and love each
other and work together raising a family
of love. Because people come from
                imperfect parents, they are wounded
soldiers from some homes that battled
with power and control, enforcing dysfunctional
ways, men who literally fought in wars, who
                could have suffered wounded bodies,
                wounded depression from war, the
mix of a man and a woman marrying can be from
arguments of one seeking power over the other
and not loving as marriage is to be –
a commitment of love for mutual love,
                giving to the other.

Roots in vocations, marriage, religious life,
single life, can be lack of commitment to ones
vocation really rebelling against God in
their calling. For example, being a sister, but punishing
others through anger because one feels
betrayed and unloved from a dysfunctional
life and is rebelling against trusting and
                loving others.

God intended the marriage of men and
                women to bear fruit –

Psalm 128: 3-6

Your wife a fruitful vine
in the inner places of your house.
Your children round your table
like shoots of an olive tree.

Such are the blessings that fall
   on those who fear Yahweh.

May Yahweh bless you from Zion!
May you see Jerusalem prosper

all the days of your life,

and live to see your children's children!

Peace to Israel!

                R. Wars in homes can be from selfish people
Fr. Carter said from people marrying to get love
rather than give love. Self-focused –
not relating with respect of giving
                conversation, warmth, what is needed
to the marriage. One holding out, furthering
their own career, not giving time and
effort to work out problems in a win -
win way, but not working on problems
at all and intending to not grow in
being a kind and loving person, but
force on the other dysfunctional ways –
force can be used in passive-aggressive
                games of power.

The other not being able to take
                this passive-aggressive attack and it
is an attack looks for ways to leave
                this dominance of unloving ways
forced on them – when they married
                for love.

We were created in the image and likeness of
God and commanded to put God first and
to love our neighbor as ourselves.

We are to grow more and more in our Christ-life
in the Church as we grow in faith,
                hope and love.

Since the family is the little unit
it is to be rooted in God, in unity,
in love, teaching unity to children,
helping children to learn how to live
with others from other families in
the world – to have relationships.
Man cannot marry in his immediate
family – God wants men to work with
others and to learn to be more perfected.
In their ways that need to change, they
must die to ways that are dysfunctional
not like Christ and live a new life in Him –
hoping to one day have the fullness of
life in heaven. Heaven is for lovers.

Love should be felt in a community
where people are like Christ, whether
a Church, a religious order and love
is the focus in the human family.
God created us to reflect the love of the
Trinity. The Persons of the Trinity are
united in love. It is a mystery. There are
3 Persons in the Trinity and They are
                One.

Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.

The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.

At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.

                R. Working together - Man is to work
together in love to bring forth fruit for the
Kingdom, dying to selfish - controlling
ways and being as God created him
to be - a person of love - under God –
loving God above all things, loving
his neighbor as himself, being more
and more in the image of God.

                    Remember Noah's ark and how
God allowed the great flood and only
those on the ark survived and He gave
us the sign of the rainbow.

When Mary appeared in Clearwater we
saw a sign with the rainbow and at
night it turned to a golden rainbow.
At night the world can be a time of
great love, if we learn to have golden
relationships of love in our families,
in our communities, in the Churches,
at work etc., men, trustworthy and
loving - rooted in God – men, living
by the commandments of God. Justice –
give God what is His due, loving our
neighbor, loving ourselves as God's unique
                creation –

We are to unfold into being more and more
like Christ, here below, dying to selfish
                ways, genuinely loving, living the
Father's will for us in love, not rebelling
against God. We are part of a larger
picture of becoming, the world and
the Church. The world is here to serve
man in his quest for heaven, in which
he will have the fullness of life.

We are to become what the Creator
destined for us. Wars are caused by the
unjust use of materials, murders of
                babies, cheating in business, destruction
                of families, by greediness. Inordinate
                attachments, false gods!
Taking the focus off of what is pure and
moral and serving man's greed and pride,
                power and jealousies.

Christians are to be like Christ.
Christians are to lift up the world –
to help shape the world to be Christic.
How can men settle in with this holocaust
of abortion, of disrespect for God who
created us and we are His creatures.

God has given us this Movement to
pray for the priests, the Church and the
world. Our world is going more and
more to secularism, and relativism –
                where people want independence,
                without God.

We as Christians have a responsibility
to help shape the world to be as Christ –
to be Christic more and more. A Christian
is to be a witness to Christ, not selfish
                and unloving.

Jesus took flesh to teach us about
Himself. Mary was conceived sinless –
Mary - the New Eve our model –

Luke 1: 46-55

And Mary said:

My soul proclaims
    the greatness of the Lord
and my spirit rejoices
    in God my Saviour;
because he has looked upon
    the humiliation of his servant.
Yes, from now onwards
all generations will call me blessed,
for the Almighty
has done great things for me.
Holy is his name,
and his faithful love extends age after age
    to those who fear him.
He has used the power of his arm,
he has routed the arrogant of heart.
He has pulled down princes
    from their thrones
        and raised high the lowly.
He has filled the starving with good things,
    sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the help
    of Israel his servant,
        mindful of his faithful love
—according to the promise
    he made to our ancestors—
of his mercy to Abraham
and to his descendants for ever.

                R. Happiness is found in God's will.
When men live a secular life without
God they are not really happy.

                    Life independent of God, rebelling
against God is not respecting God
as the Creator and we are the creatures.

The Church is a pilgrim Church.
The people at the time of Moses went
                through the desert toward the
promised land, but there was false gods,
infidelity to God among some, but
                good prevailed.

We are God's people in the Church –
We are on a journey to the Promised
                Land to the heavenly Jerusalem.
As we listen to the messages of Jesus
and Mary Fr. Carter and I received in the
Rosaries and Blue Books as Mary
and Jesus appeared we see what is
real, what They are really saying,
                since Mary appeared in rainbow
color as Our Lady of Clearwater 17
                years ago.

Help me get these messages in
                the Blue Books out.

Why has a rosary and messages,
I received as Mary appeared 17 years
                ago, been held up and unpublished;
why when Jesus died on the cross
has this message of December 5, 1996
                not been spread, the All-Night
                Message December 29, 1996.

I know Mary appeared 6 times at
                Fatima May 13, 1917 to October 13, 1917
ending with what looked like the
                sun crashing on the earth.

Listen to her July 13, 1917 message
at her apparition, the one predicting
                    World War II.

From Fatima Peace Plan — Tan Books p.4-5.

July 13, 1917

THE CHILDREN SEE HELL

"During her appearance in July, Our Lady, in answer to Lucia's plea, promised that in October she would work a great public miracle so that all might believe and know who she was. Again the Mother of God told the children to sacrifice themselves for sinners and to say many times, especially when making a sacrifice, this prayer: "O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of poor sinners, and in reparation for all the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

As she spoke these words, Our Lady stretched out her hands, and bright rays came forth which seemed to penetrate into the earth. All at once the ground vanished, and the children found themselves standing on the brink of a sea of fire. As they peered into this dreadful place, the terrified youngsters saw huge numbers of devils and damned souls. The devils resembled hideous black animals, each filling the air with despairing shrieks. The damned souls were in their human bodies and seemed to be brown in color, tumbling about constantly in the flames and screaming with terror. All were on fire within and without their bodies, and neither devils nor damned souls seemed able to control their movements. They were tossing about in the flames like fiery coals in a furnace. There was never an instant's peace or freedom from pain.

Looking with compassion at the pale and trembling little ones, the vision spoke to them: "You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish, in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If people do what I tell you, many souls will be saved and there will be peace."

                R. In the years that followed to 1939,
September 1st, Hitler formed his armies,
his means of attack to hurt the
                whole world through his rebellion
                against the Father's Plan.

I see the World effected before World War II
in the hatred of forming men to
                    attack aggressively for power
                    and dominance.

                I see the War 1939 - 1945 and
                    its devastation, the holocaust
of the Jews, the killing of millions
in combat and rude ways of
                    extermination – they attacked
                    by land and sea.

I see the effects after the war
                on the world. Wounded Soldiers!!
                destruction of lands, gardens, life,
                families, hatred, division and
most of all that man can be independent
of God – the rebellion against God's laws,
                the growth of secularism, materialism,
putting man on the throne for
                many instead of respecting God
                as our Creator.

At the end of the 20th Century
Fr. Carter and I began getting the messages
in the Shepherds of Christ Movement to
help renew the Church and the world.

The Mass, the sacrifice of Calvary
                sacramentally made present is celebrated
                all over the world.

God calls us to live the Christian
                existence, the spiritual life, within
the framework of the Church that
                Jesus has established.

TWO    Christian Life within the Church (excerpt)

         2.  The Church in Relation to Christ in His Threefold Mission

        a)  Christ as Prophet

The historical Christ was the central figure in the long list of God's prophets who have assumed such a vital role throughout the course of salvation history. As Moses, Jeremiah, Isaiah and the rest of the Old Testament prophets were the spokesmen for Yahweh, so most perfectly is Christ the spokesman for His Father. A prophet, then, in terms of salvation history is a specially commissioned teacher sent by God to His People. What is the task of the prophet? His role is in some way to reveal God and God's plan for man's salvation and sanctification.

Christ accomplished the task of the prophet in an eminently perfect manner. Through His unique words of wisdom He made a deep impression upon His hearers: "Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on the people because he taught them with authority, and not like their own scribes." (Mt 7:28-29). Through this teaching Christ gradually revealed the nature of God. He revealed this nature, not only as It is in Itself, but also as It is in Its relationship to men. Above all, He taught men the love and mercy which their Heavenly Father has for them. He did this in a manner which was radically adapted to their understanding, using the language and mode of speech which was familiar to them. Through the use of the most simple story Christ would often bring out the most sublime truths concerning God. His story of the Prodigal Son as given in St. Luke is an exquisite, graphic presentation of the loving and merciful attitude of God toward the repentant sinner.

Yet Christ did not reveal the Father and the Father's plan only through word. He also did so through His actions. At times the events of His life were a more eloquent revelation than His words. The crucified Christ, as He hangs in silence upon the cross, speaks volumes to the world concerning the love and mercy of God, the justice of God, and the heinousness of sin. In short, it is the total person of Christ in all His words, actions, gestures – in everything – who reveals the Father to men.1 This revelation of the Father includes within itself God's desire for man's response. For God does not reveal Himself in Christ to man for any empty purpose. God tells us He loves us, that He gives Himself to us in Christ, and that He wants us to respond with a love of our own as we live the way Our Father wants us to live: in Christ, Who is the way, the truth and the life.

The Church, the People of God, is destined to continue Christ's prophetic, revelatory office.2 The most obvious way she does this is through her official teaching mission. Primarily through the pope and the bishops, the Church has the responsibility of continually presenting the message of Christ in a manner which is relevant to the men of various ages. Yet it is not only the pope and the other bishops who accomplish this teaching mission. The theologian, the priest in the pulpit, the teacher of religion and theology, the mother and father educating their children according to the principles of Christ – all such people offer examples of the various ways in which the members of the People of God contribute to the continuation of Christ's prophetic or teaching office.

There is another manner in which the entire People of God contribute to the Church's teaching mission. The official teachers in the Church, namely the pope and bishops, depend to a considerable extent upon how the Holy Spirit is operating within the entire People of God. The People of God in their universal grasp of matters relating to faith and morals assist the official teachers of the Church in their duty of correctly projecting the truth of Christ to the Church and world. An example of this is contained in the procedure which preceded the definition of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pope Pius XII speaks about this procedure: ". . . We considered it opportune to ask all Our venerable brethren in the episcopate directly and authoritatively, that each of them should make known to Us his mind in a formal statement. Hence, We gave them Our letter 'Deiparae Virginis Mariae', a letter in which these words are contained: 'Do you, Venerable Brethren, in your outstanding wisdom and prudence, judge that the bodily Assumption of the Blessed Virgin can be proposed and defined as a dogma of faith? Do you, with your clergy and people, desire it? ' "3

Consequently, we see the soundness of the newly discovered dialogue within the Church. The more open are the lines of communication between the pope and the bishops of the world, between bishops and their priests, between priests and their people, between religious superiors and subjects, the better is the possibility that the truth of Christ the teacher will more perfectly permeate the entire life of the People of God, and ultimately the life of the world.

We have said that the historical Christ taught the truth of God not only through His words, but through His actions, His attitude, His gestures. In brief, He taught through everything He was and did. So it must be with the Church. The Church continues the teaching mission of Christ, not only through her verbal and written teaching, but also through her actions and attitude, and, summarily, through her total being as it is visible to men.

We see, consequently, why the Church must concretely show her concern for the poor, the oppressed, the one who suffers from racial prejudice. The truth which the Church preaches concerning social justice must become incarnated in the visible, concrete action she undertakes for such a cause. Since the Church is the continuation of Christ, she must act as He did. Christ not only told men that He loved them, He proved that love in a concrete, tangible, incarnate manner.

It is entirely appropriate that Christians be present at demonstrations concerned with a true and just cause, even though, of course, they are not usually representing the Church in an official capacity. The witness of priests, religious and laity demonstrating for racial justice is a powerful witness of the truth of Christ that all men are created equal. Sometimes such action is much more effective in projecting to the world the Church's concern for the racially oppressed than are the pastoral letters of bishops regarding racial equality.

Every member of the People of God is called upon to continue the teaching mission of Christ. The baptized Christian is incorporated into Christ who is prophet, king and priest. This incorporation is further perfected through confirmation. Therefore each member within the Church receives a real share in the prophetic, kingly and priestly mission of Christ. In relation to our present topic concerning Christ as prophet or teacher, no member of the Church can excuse himself from carrying forward this particular mission of Christ. Some of the various possibilities open to all within the Church have already been suggested. We now emphasize a constant and ever available opportunity which is present to all, namely, the witness of a truly Christian life. A life constantly lived according to the truth and example of Christ is a powerful, persuasive witness to Christ and His message. Perhaps because there are too few such Christian witnesses, Christianity has failed to make the desired imprint upon civilization. For it is only when mankind sees the truth of Christ concretely lived out by Christians that such truth has the power to draw men to Christ and His Church in any great numbers.4

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Reflect on the Word - Cycle B —  The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts
Inspiring Homilies covering partial year of Cycle A by Fr. Joe Robinson

Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 1
Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00  plus postage

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ–." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
