Prayer for Grace for our Country
Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our new president as he takes office. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

Mark 1: 7-11
In the course of his preaching he said, ‘After me is coming someone who is more powerful than me, and I am not fit to kneel down and undo the strap of his sandals. I have baptised you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.’
Jesus is baptised
It was at this time that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John. And at once, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, like a dove, descending on him. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.’

May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit of wisdom and perception of what is revealed, to bring you to full knowledge of him. May he enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope his call holds for you, how rich is the glory of the heritage he offers among his holy people,
R. I live with myself all day – Do I love
the person God created in His image and likeness.
Have I developed into this image and likeness as
God intended of me? Do I want to live more
and more alive in God, that the Almighty
God can operate in me and use me for
the building of the Kingdom?
Am I proud of my actions and love
for God and others? Am I growing in
the newness of life? Do I see the light of the
Holy Spirit working in me, guiding me, am I
docile to the touch of the Spirit of God –
co-operating with God's plan for me in
the building of the Kingdom of God.
Do I make a searching inventory of my
actions, my motives of why I do what
I do and say what I do. What kind
of person am I? What must I work
to change in unattractive, destructive
behavior against God's will, that is
not in the image of God and I am
not proud of. Am I honest with myself
as to how I really am in dealing with
others, interacting with others - growing
in union with others and God, growing
in love with God and others. Do I
admit my faults to God, to myself and
to another human being.
Am I at peace with myself because
I honestly am living as God intends me to be.
Do I perform my actions living to prove –
no matter what I do – right or wrong –
to prove I am always right. Self-righteous. This
dishonesty is just that - DIS-Honesty. I overlook
the truth that God is what determines
what is right and wrong and I am to
follow His Plan –
Why do I do what I do and say
what I say and if I stopped in
the middle would I see how
what I am doing could be destructive,
dramatic, chaotic, for excitement
and attention?
We have so many hours and days to
contribute as we live in the building
of the Kingdom of God –
Are my hours and days lived to serve
God's will in love. Am I loving myself
in the good I do that God wants of me.
In the Prayer for Union with Jesus it
says – help me not to give into the
distraction of satan to take me from
your work.
What is God calling me to do in love?
Is my heart hard and have I allowed
my actions to be actions of bitterness
and self-pity and living as a victim
when no one is even victimizing me,
it is my choice to make myself
the victim of innocent others
who desire good and love for me?
(This includes ignoring the love and
goodness God is giving to me)
A person can live a life of self-inflicted
suffering upon themselves to make
a life of darkness and misery which
is not how things really are.
What are my motives, how
are my actions, actions that build
up the Kingdom of God.
A man went out and he had
a life time to follow God's plan,
instead he used his life to dig a
hole in the mud and he dug - day after
day - after day. He had to get in the hole
to dig, so as he dug his hole
took him down. His life was
a constant descending existence
and the darkness surrounded him
in his ever deeper hole.
The sky outside the hole was beautiful
every day and the sun shown bright,
the seasons changed, the flower
bloomed, the children played, the
young couples walked holding hands
in love. Life was so good and
fun.
Now because the man was such
a fool to live day after day digging
himself a hole of deeper darkness –
was this the reality God wanted him to live.
Of course it was not. By his own
choice he rejected God's plan – he
isolated from others and he lived
a sterile blinded existence at his
own choosing. He was stubborn,
bitter and self-enclosed because
he wanted to be. His life was
self-inflicted - misery and darkness.
His thinking was so distorted and
twisted. Was it anyone's fault
but his own? Was he at fault?
Who puts into a man's mind a
battery of negativity and dishonesty.
God has a plan and we have a
free will to live by His plan in love
or reject His plan and oppose
the commandments, scriptures
and mentors He sends to help us.
What is the motive of a man
rebelling and opposing God?

The Father's Will for Us - Our Source of Peace
Pope John Paul II instructs us: "The Church, as a reconciled and reconciling community, cannot forget that at the source of her gift and mission of reconciliation is the initiative, full of compassionate love and mercy, of that God who is love (see 1 John 4:8) and who out of love created human beings (see Wisdom 11:23-26; Genesis 1:27: Psalms 8:4-8)…He created them so that they might live in friendship with Him and in communion with one another.
"God is faithful to His eternal plan even when man, under the impulse of the evil one (see Wisdom 2:24) and carried away by his own pride, abuses the freedom given to him in order to love and generously seek what is good, and (instead) refuses to obey his Lord and Father. God is faithful even when man, instead of responding with love to God’s love, opposes Him and treats Him like a rival, deluding himself and relying on his own power, with the resulting break of relationship with the One who created him. In spite of this transgression on man’s part, God remains faithful in love.
"It is certainly true that the story of the Garden of Eden makes us think about the tragic consequences of rejecting the Father, which becomes evident in man’s inner disorder and in the breakdown of harmony between man and woman, brother and brother (see Genesis 3:12 ff; 4:1-16). Also significant is the Gospel parable of the two brothers (the parable of the ‘prodigal son’; see Luke 15:11-32) who, in different ways, distance themselves from their father and cause a rift between them. Refusal of God’s fatherly love and of His loving gifts is always at the root of humanity’s divisions.
"But we know that God…like the father in the parable (of the prodigal son), does not close His heart to any of His children. He waits for them, looks for them, goes to meet them at the place where the refusal of communion imprisons them in isolation and division. He calls them to gather about His table in the joy of the feast of forgiveness and reconciliation.
"This initiative on God’s part is made concrete and manifest in the redemptive act of Christ, which radiates through the world by means of the ministry of the Church." 13

R. How have we made others suffer
with our rebellion and with living in
opposition to God. We need to have
right reasoning – because of original
sin we can see God, others and ourselves
distortedly. God sends us guides and
people in the spiritual life to help
us to live by right - reasoning. A
person that isolates and more and more
stays away from all others may be,
being directed from the evil one who
wants them as a captive audience
to do the work opposed to God's will.
If the reasons for my actions
are motivated by deep seated
anger and hatred, isolating and
resentment from the past, I can
grow more and more to a person
caved in and not as God wants
of me, with the wrong attitude when I am
wrong I am still seeing myself as right
because I think I can do whatever I want,
with no boundaries and limits and
see myself as never wrong (self-righteous).
THE TWELVE STEPS OF AA
Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol,
that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than
ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives
over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human
being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all
these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed,
and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible,
except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we
were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our
conscious contact with God as we understood Him,
praying only for knowledge of His will for us and
the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,
we tried to carry this message to alcoholics,
and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
R. If I have a duty to perform a
certain task, why would I put it
off and off to cause destruction for others?
Why do I refuse honesty and
accountability, responsibility,
corrections – Why do I refuse to
look at the consequences of my
actions in the lives of others?
These are moral issues!
To live in right reasoning, I
must be honest and accountable,
responsible and accept corrections
from authority. There is structure
in life – I cannot live more and
more in ignoring boundaries
and limits and doing what I
want opposed to what is
God's will for me –
I need to go to God to know what
reality is. I do not want to live
more and more in a distorted
unreal way that is living in
deception of the truth. I must
tell the truth and be honest
about my behavior. I must
recognize what is wrong and
deal with it in honesty –
In recognizing the good things
I do – I see how I can grow
to be more and more as God wants
me to be.
First to thine own self be
true. I must develop as a
mature, responsible, honest,
person under the plan of God –
being accountable for my actions
and living in love as God
commands us in the commandments.
We must go inside of ourselves
and correct our bad behavior
patterns – do good as God wills
and stop doing automatic bad
habits we overlook and tell
ourselves are fine. If a person
has developed life-long bad
behavior patterns it takes
honesty and hard work to overcome
them – it takes God's grace –

Living the Christ-life is active
and real – It's not somebody
saying one thing with cheap words
and not doing anything in honesty
to really change. What is the motive
for destructive behavior?
We pray to know God's will
for us and the courage to do it.
How does a person think a hard
shell of self-righteousness
can help them grow in unity
with anyone or with God.
Living to justify what is wrong
and thinking we are always right is
poison – Would you take poison? Why
give your actions to such behavior –
trying to justify wrong behavior
to prove the wrong behavior
is right – TOXIC!!
How does living to do everything
one's own way and opposing others
doing what needs to get done
create monster problems because
of an attitude
"I never do anything,
anybody else tells me to do!"
"I need to be in control of
events"
I must be in the right place –
God is over and I am under –
not the other way around!!
1 Corinthians 15: 20-28
In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep. As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead. Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life; but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belong to him. After that will come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolished every principality, every ruling force and power. For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool, and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put all things under his feet. But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjected everything to him. When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subjected to the One who has subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.
