God is the Creator —
We are the creatures —
God has the big picture —
God is love —
We were created in the image and
likeness of God —
to put God first —
God is all good —
We are to become more and more good
like God —
God is with us —
God wants oneness in the
family of the Father —
oneness with Him —
oneness with each other —
We are to put God 1st —
To love God with our whole heart,
our whole soul and our whole being
and love our neighbor as ourselves —
God has given us the gift of baptism
1) We receive a special sharing
in His life in baptism —
2) our knowing and loving capacity is
elevated
3) God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
remain in the graced baptized soul
in a special way
God loved us first —
Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.
... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.
The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.
At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.
1 John 4: 19
Let us love, then, because he first loved us.
Romans 5: 6-11
When we were still helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless. You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, for a really good person, someone might undertake to die. So it is proof of God’s own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shall be saved through him from the retribution of God. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have already gained our reconciliation.
We are to respond to God's love —
John 13: 34
I give you a new commandment: love one another; you must love one another just as I have loved you.
God is just
Song: I Am a God of Justice
Lamb of God
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
How to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet
Begin with:
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., The Creed.
On the five large beads:
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity
of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement
for our sins and those of the whole world. On the ten small beads:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us
and on the whole world.Conclude with repeating three times:
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
We are sinners, we have a wounded
human nature — we are imperfect
John 3: 16
For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may have eternal life.
Because of baptism and the elevation
of our knowing capacity —
we can understand more
insight into the Divine Mysteries —
Genesis 1: 26-27
God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild animals and all the creatures that creep along the ground.’
God created man in the image of himself,
in the image of God he created him,
male and female he created them.
Our goal in acting — to see beyond,
to reason is to see how
we are acting as the Father
wants for some greater good —
We have a free choice —
I can think positive thoughts
for goals to help build
God's Kingdom
I can give into satan — who
wants us to see more and more
with tainted vision
Man can look for happiness in the
wrong places —
Song: God's Love
We live seeking happiness —
a marriage
a baby
a new car —
all has its ultimate goal
for happiness
Man can look for happiness
in the wrong place —
God created us to live by
His Plan, but out of
love for us —
He wants us, with our free
will — to love Him —
to be obedient to Him —
to choose God —
We have been given great
gifts and we are to thank
Him and to use His gifts
as He wants —
We receive power from God to
do His work —
We can use that power for
good or bad —
Happiness comes only in
choosing good —
We cannot find true happiness
in choosing evil —
The body exists for the soul —
We are to be here to do good —
to live according to the
Father's Plan and to
love serving God who
is all good and deserves
our love —
We are happy in possessing
God —
Thus God gave us this prayer
Prayer for Union with Jesus
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.
I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.
I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.
When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.
-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994
As we seek the vision of God
with our intellect and will —
we go toward greater happiness —
Complete happiness cannot be achieved
on this earth —
God is Truth —
To have this vision of God
we cannot live in
a lie —
We hope for the vision of God —
God intends us to have greater
vision concerning love as
we live here and work
in love with each other
We are to seek, this Truth, found
only in God —
To seek the beatific vision
in heaven —
We seek God by living a
virtuous life — In living a
virtuous life we become
more and more good — our
actions are more and more likened
to God —
In giving into the deadly
sins —
pride, greed, envy, wrath,
lust,
gluttony,
sloth
we go toward evil more and
more — evil and darkness —
Vices are bad habits —
We act more and more evil —
These vices are like wraps
in which we are
more and more without
this love and life in us —
Unless one who is steeped in
vices changes his ways —
his ways become
darker and darker

When Jesus appeared to me in the mural
over the altar in China — light was on
Him — like a bolt of lightening coming
downFirst I saw this light as if it came
upon Him, His whole body shown
lighted — so brightly, but it was
as if a light came as a beam from
the direction shown — from
aboveLIGHT, LIGHT, LIGHT
Jesus spoke through me then —
Then the blackest, black around
the left arch particularly the
left sideend of excerpt
We have control of our actions —
We have a free will —
We are to use this freedom
obeying God —
living as God wants us to —
Man can rebel against God —
But heaven is a reward given
to those who loved and
served the Lord —
Man through his own free
will can be given endless
opportunities to grow in
love and because of
stubbornness choose
selfishness —
God has put us on this earth
to love and serve Him —
If we choose to give into
the deadly sins we can
walk in darkness — if we
choose to isolate from others and
hate others, be in competition
with others — punish others —
we have chosen freely to not
love when the opportunity was
put before us by God —
We are here to choose love —
to not be selfish —
to not punish others because
of our own misery to
not choose love —
when we were given
every opportunity by God
to work together and learn
to love and we acted
unloving and sinfully —
We will be held accountable by
God — how we loved Him and
our neighbor and ourselves according
to God's will
Loving is an act of
the will —
God has called us to love
and be in His
image and likeness
I can choose life or death —

From Fr. Joe
A nurse worked for an orthopedic surgeon
and he was moving his office — she had to help.
Among the things she had to take — a skeleton —
At the red light a man looked over —
she said I am helping to move this for my
orthopedic doctor —
The man said —
I hate to tell you lady —
but it's too late for that guy —
The gods were local — there were different gods
in different places —
Any skin disease was thought it could be
leprosy — so they had to be isolated
with the lepers for any skin disease —
Whatever Jesus said to do — it happened —
storms were quieted —
people were healed — if He said so —
Jesus said over the bread — "This is My body"
and
it was.
Jesus said over the wine — "This is My blood" —
and it was.
We should believe that Jesus could heal us —
God gives us the sacrament Extreme
Unction — and great healing can
happen —
Fr. Joe says he has great faith in
the sacrament —
The theme of gratitude — only one man
returned to say thanks for the healing —
We need to thank God especially when we
go to the Eucharist —
We give thanks and praise to the Father —
We should give thanks as often as
we are blessed and
we are blessed every day —
“Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in a love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.”
Pedro Arrupe
Everything I have written deals with purity of heart
Living virtuously I perform good actions
The fruits from these actions
will produce good to benefit others
Syria and Israel have been at odds for a
long time —
28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 14, 2007
INTRODUCTION - Israel and Syria have been fighting with each other for centuries. Today’s first reading takes us back to 850 BC when Syria was then called Aram. There was conflict then. Our reading is about an Aramean army general named Naaman. He had the dreaded disease of leprosy. His wife had a slave girl, an Israelite, who most probably was captured in battle. She told her master, Naaman, about a prophet in Israel who would be able to cure his disease. That prophet was Elisha. It must have taken a lot of humility and faith for this proud Aramean general to go into the territory of their enemy looking for Elisha. And when he located him, Elisha wouldn’t even meet Naaman. He just told him through a messenger to go and bathe in the Jordan River. Naaman was insulted and decided to go back home. But his friends persuaded him to do as the prophet said. Thus our first reading begins. The reading prepares us for the gospel when we hear about Jesus healing 10 people who had leprosy.
2 Kings 5: 14-17
So he went down and immersed himself seven times in the Jordan, as Elisha had told him to do. And his flesh became clean once more like the flesh of a little child. Returning to Elisha with his whole escort, he went in and, presenting himself, said, 'Now I know that there is no God anywhere on earth except in Israel. Now, please, accept a present from your servant.' But Elisha replied, 'As Yahweh lives, whom I serve, I will accept nothing.' Naaman pressed him to accept, but he refused. Then Naaman said, 'Since your answer is "No," allow your servant to be given as much earth as two mules may carry, since your servant will no longer make burnt offerings or sacrifice to any god except Yahweh.
Psalm 98: 1, 2-3, 3-4
Sing a new song to Yahweh,
for he has performed wonders,
his saving power is in his right hand
and his holy arm.
Yahweh has made known his saving power,
revealed his saving justice for the nations to see,
mindful of his faithful love and his constancy
to the House of Israel.
The whole wide world has seen
the saving power of our God.
Acclaim Yahweh, all the earth,
burst into shouts of joy!
2 Timothy 2: 8-13
Remember the gospel that I carry, 'Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David'; it is on account of this that I have to put up with suffering, even to being chained like a criminal. But God's message cannot be chained up. So I persevere for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they, too, may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Here is a saying that you can rely on: If we have died with him, then we shall live with him. If we persevere, then we shall reign with him. If we disown him, then he will disown us. If we are faithless, he is faithful still, for he cannot disown his own self.
Luke 17: 11-19
Now it happened that on the way to Jerusalem he was travelling in the borderlands of Samaria and Galilee. As he entered one of the villages, ten men suffering from a virulent skin–disease came to meet him. They stood some way off and called to him, ‘Jesus! Master! Take pity on us.’ When he saw them he said, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ Now as they were going away they were cleansed. Finding himself cured, one of them turned back praising God at the top of his voice and threw himself prostrate at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan. This led Jesus to say, ‘Were not all ten made clean? The other nine, where are they? It seems that no one has come back to give praise to God, except this foreigner.’ And he said to the man, ‘Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.’
10 lepers were healed
Everyone who had any skin disease was
isolated —
Jesus healed the 10 lepers and then
He said send them to the priest —
figuratively He brought them back to life —
We see at Mass
Jesus say —
"This is My Body, This is My Blood."
Extreme Unction is a sacrament that can
bring us back to health in some
cases —
Fr. Joe says he thinks that if we had
greater faith there would be
more healings —
We are given the Eucharist —
The Eucharist means Thanksgiving
We thank God for His goodness to us and
we ask for His help —
Give Christmas Presents that count.
