Prayer for Grace for our Country

Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

                Given September 8, 2019

R. Love God first.

Love our neighbor as ourselves.
You cannot love anything more than Jesus.

You are to be like Jesus.

Following Jesus involves a constant commitment all day.

It’s not a picnic.

The rewards are out of this world.

We have to pick up our daily crosses.

Jesus: I give you breath to live. I want you to serve Me.

I want you to spread love. Relax, be lost in My love.

Mary: I am Mary.

I love you so very much.

Mary: I am the Immaculate Heart.

My Spouse the Holy Spirit wants to fill you with love.

God loves you so much.

Believe this.

Love God with all your heart.

Spread these messages.

Spread the Consecration to Our Two Hearts.

Reading's Today

23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Wisdom 9: 13-18

'What human being indeed can know the intentions of God?
And who can comprehend the will of the Lord?
For the reasoning of mortals is inadequate,
our attitudes of mind unstable;
for a perishable body presses down the soul,
and this tent of clay weighs down the mind with its many cares.
It is hard enough for us to work out what is on earth,
laborious to know what lies within our reach;
who, then, can discover what is in the heavens?
And who could ever have known your will, had you not given Wisdom
and sent your holy Spirit from above?
Thus have the paths of those on earth been straightened
and people have been taught what pleases you,
and have been saved, by Wisdom.'

Psalm 90: 3-6, 12-14, 17

You bring human beings to the dust,
by saying, ‘Return, children of Adam.’
A thousand years are to you
like a yesterday which has passed,
like a watch of the night.

You flood them with sleep
—in the morning they will be like growing grass:
in the morning it is blossoming and growing,
by evening it is withered and dry.

Teach us to count up the days that are ours,
and we shall come to the heart of wisdom.
Come back, Yahweh! How long must we wait?
Take pity on your servants.

Each morning fill us with your faithful love,
we shall sing and be happy all our days;

May the sweetness of the Lord be upon us,
to confirm the work we have done!

Philemon 1: 9-10, 12-17

I am rather appealing to your love, being what I am, Paul, an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus. I am appealing to you for a child of mine, whose father I became while wearing these chains: I mean Onesimus. I am sending him back to you -- that is to say, sending you my own heart. I should have liked to keep him with me; he could have been a substitute for you, to help me while I am in the chains that the gospel has brought me. I should have liked to keep him with me; he could have been a substitute for you, to help me while I am in the chains that the gospel has brought me. I should have liked to keep him with me; he could have been a substitute for you, to help me while I am in the chains that the gospel has brought me. However, I did not want to do anything without your consent; it would have been forcing your act of kindness, which should be spontaneous. I suppose you have been deprived of Onesimus for a time, merely so that you could have him back for ever, no longer as a slave, but something much better than a slave, a dear brother; especially dear to me, but how much more to you, both on the natural plane and in the Lord. So if you grant me any fellowship with yourself, welcome him as you would me;

Luke 14: 25-33

Renouncing all that one holds dear

Great crowds accompanied him on his way and he turned and spoke to them. 'Anyone who comes to me without hating father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, yes and his own life too, cannot be my disciple. No one who does not carry his cross and come after me can be my disciple.

Renouncing possessions

'And indeed, which of you here, intending to build a tower, would not first sit down and work out the cost to see if he had enough to complete it? Otherwise, if he laid the foundation and then found himself unable to finish the work, anyone who saw it would start making fun of him and saying, "Here is someone who started to build and was unable to finish." Or again, what king marching to war against another king would not first sit down and consider whether with ten thousand men he could stand up to the other who was advancing against him with twenty thousand? If not, then while the other king was still a long way off, he would send envoys to sue for peace. So in the same way, none of you can be my disciple without giving up all that he owns.

23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time

September 3, 2016

INTRODUCTION – (Philemon: 9-10,12-17) We will not understand today’s second reading without some background. The event is only about two people: the Apostle Paul in prison for his faith in Christ and Onesimus, a runaway slave. A third person is mentioned, Philemon, the slave owner. Paul is writing to Philemon informing him that Onesimus is with Paul. He is writing in an attempt to reconcile Onesimus with Philemon. By law, Philemon could have his runaway slave killed for escaping. Slavery in those days was not like the slavery in our Country two or three hundred years ago. Slaves came from nations and peoples that Rome had conquered. Most slaves were probably white; many would have been educated and would have been skilled as musicians, scribes, craftsmen, teachers and even doctors. In Paul’s day, prison was just a temporary arrangement until a Roman magistrate decided the prisoner would be executed, sent into exile, have their property confiscated, or be set free. Prisoners needed friends or family to provide for their basic needs and, apparently, Onesimus did that for Paul. Paul is on good terms with Philemon as he was one of his first converts to Christ. While in prison, Paul also converted Onesimus (that’s why he calls him “my son”). See how subtly Paul asks Philemon to receive Onesimus as a brother. Even though faith in Christ had not hit slavery head on, today’s reading shows in a small way what power it has to change lives, to change society, and to change the world.

HOMILY – (Luke 14, 25-33) Today Mother Teresa is being canonized a saint. Canonization is an infallible declaration that a certain individual is a model of sanctity; an individual who has given us a concrete example of how to be a Christian. It is a declaration that this person is enjoying God’s glory in heaven and is worthy of our honor and veneration. Notice I said veneration and did not say adoration, which is directed only to God. Since the holiness of the saint was the gift of God’s grace, to venerate a saint is always to praise and glorify God. (Theological Dictionary, Karl Rahner and Herbert Vorgrimler, pg 481) Mother Teresa is not being made a saint today, she already is a saint. The Church is officially declaring her worthy of our honor. The Church also declares that she is a person whom we can pray to as someone close to God who can intercede for us in our times of need.

Mother Teresa started hearing God’s call to a religious life at 12 years of age and at 18 she joined the Loreto Sisters in Dublin, Ireland. Within a few months of joining the Sisters, she found herself on a boat going to India where she would spend the remaining 70 years of her life doing what the movie and the biography of her life referred to as a beautiful thing for God. Mother Teresa started off as a teacher. The Loreto Sisters tried to tackle the problem of poverty through education, but there was an abundance of suffering in Calcutta beyond the reach of the classroom. “It is not possible to find worse poverty” she wrote. She often exhausted herself and had many bouts with poor health. In her mid-thirties, she experienced what she described as a “call within a call.” She had the very rare experience of hearing God’s voice calling her to leave the Sisters of Loreto and begin working with the poor. It was a difficult challenge to leave the convent where she had been very happy. She would be exposing herself to much suffering and ridicule, but God’s voice was so clear as he asked: “would you refuse to do this for me?” Her request to leave her religious order had to go all the way to Pope Pius XII before it was granted, but it was. Now, experiencing great peace and joy from God, she was on her own. She prepared herself for her work by getting some medical training and living with the Little Sisters of the Poor. She eventually moved to a small house in town and, amazingly, she began to attract people interested in helping her. She also experienced some of her neighbors trying to chase her out of the neighborhood. The leader of one group of young Hindus was determined to chase her out of the area, but when he saw the care and love she gave to the poor and the dying, he went back to his gang and said he would get rid of her only on one condition: that they persuade their mothers and sisters to undertake the same service.

The next 50 years of her life was made up of nonstop activity and compassionate service to the poor - an endless procession of opening up new hospices, traveling around the world to meet with the members of an ever-expanding order, and helping found an order of brothers, and of priests, and then lay coworkers.

Malcolm Muggeridge produced a film about her in 1969. He was not a believer, but inspired by Mother Teresa, he eventually entered the Church. Ten years later she was given the Nobel Peace Prize. I mentioned earlier that she was filled with peace and joy – but there was a period of several years when she suffered a kind of spiritual darkness. Many saints go through lengthy periods of spiritual dryness. It is during those times that a person’s faith grows deeper. Considering the kind of work Mother Teresa was doing, it’s no wonder she was not experiencing a lot of peace and joy. Many years ago, I remember my supervisor at Longview Hospital telling me: “I listen to depressed people all day and when I go home in the evening, I am depressed.” Mother Teresa went through a lot more depressing experiences than almost anyone could imagine, yet she continued her service to the poorest of the poor. One special help she had was she and her followers spent long hours in prayer every day. I have a recollection that it was somewhere between one and three hours a day. Today there are more than 5,000 Missionaries of Charity sisters in 758 communities (plus 450 or so men) living, working, and praying in 139 countries.

I would like to conclude with three of my favorite quotes from Mother Teresa. The first two came from a meeting she had with a Jewish journalist who was a bit uncomfortable being Jewish as he was having lunch with this holy Catholic Celebrity:

    1) They were in Philadelphia when she said: there are thousands of people in Philadelphia who are forgotten, unwanted. Hungry for love. We pass them by. Love them. Loneliness is the greatest poverty.”

    2) When the topic of his Jewishness came up she said: “that’s wonderful. The founder of our faith was also a Jew.”

    3) And my favorite: “God does not demand that I be successful. God demands that I be faithful.” Amen.

Mary: I am Mary

Your Mother!!

I love you so much.

Sing: Come to me Lord and possess my soul.

Mary: I am your Mother Mary.

Mary's Message
from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.  end of Mary's Message

R. I am drawn to you like steel to a magnet my God.

For all is Your presence in my thirsty soul.

I was created for You my God and nothing but Your love can satisfy my soul.

God is love and in Him is no darkness.

God wants oneness with us.

Jesus is the head of the body.

God wants unity in the members of the body of Christ,
It is living in God’s will to be united, to love, to be one in love with God and others.

God created us to be instruments of HIS LOVE.

He feeds us with Himself.

We go to Mass and God comes to us, comes in our thirsty soul.

Jesus is the Bread of life.
In Him is no darkness.

Unity. Unity. Unity and love.

Hearts filled with love for others.

Hearts loving to give the love God fills us with to others.

It is the depth of life known in our soul.

Life is life in Jesus Christ and the unity is So deep in us.

Oh God Sunday is the Lord's Day and we celebrate it with the Sunday Mass.

Union in oneness with God and all men because
God is love

And Shepherds of Christ is to help men dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, God in us.

Cling to Me

May 13, 1993

Jesus: My dear child, if you stay close to Me, then I live in you and you live in Me. I am He Who created you and I love you with such an intensity that you will never know. My words are your truth. You must abide in My heart in all things. There is no room for doubt. My ways are steadfast, direct, and without error.

You must stay rooted in Me to ward off the power of the evil one. His grip is paralyzing and crippling. His power is stronger every day.

When you live in Me, I am in your heart and he has no power over Me. I am your God. I am your true lover. I want to protect you. I want to guard you from this force. Stay rooted firmly in Me and he will have no power.

I am He Who comforts you. My hand is upon you. Hold tight to Me, My child. My eyes are fixed right on you. You are My most precious child. I love you as no other can. My arms are about you. My tenderness surrounds you. My love is in your heart. You go not alone. I walk with you.

I share every aspect of your life with you. Cling to Me, feel My presence. It is warm and secure within your chest. There is no room for fear, for I cast out fear and bring you comfort and joy.  end of May 13, 1993

R. Childlike faith.

Seeing ourselves under the gaze of the Father.

Come to me Lord and possess my soul.

Life is in God.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of unity and love.

We are united.
We are children of the Heavenly Father.

We have a Father who loves us dearly dwelling in our graced baptized soul.

God is love and in Him is no darkness.

I sent my love to you
Jesus says.

Jesus: I love you so much My precious Shepherds.

I bring you love.

I give you greater grace - life in Me.

Come to me Lord and possess my soul.

Only one thing is important. Eternal salvation.

R. Sin takes us from eternal salvation.

Jesus: Unity and love.

I am Jesus.♥

R. The devil wants us selfish, divided, isolated.

That leaves a soul thirsty.

We were created for life in God,
What is life,  Jesus.

The devil's grip is paralyzing and crippling.

Oh God gift my heart with your life.

I love You so much God.

Your love is everything.

God comes and fills you with light.

Satan works in the soul holding out in selfishness and pride, envy, ugly darkness like tar fills the dark heart.

The dark heart allows Satan in to operate in them, then tries to bring others down to their darkness.

It is an act of the will to want holiness and give yourself as the gift you are to be.

The Holy Spirit has gifts to give you for - the graced baptized soul. Some turn their backs and fill themselves with darkness being instruments for the evil one.

One of the great gifts God gives us is friendship.

Friendship is a gift from God.

And the light shown on my face

The light of God penetrates my heart.

I am never alone and disconnected because God loves in me.

When I look I see reality –
God in others for they were created by God and I am to love them.

Be His instrument of love.

He is love.

We are to be like open pipes where the connection is made.

We are instruments of His love.

He operates in us touching souls through our open loving hearts.

Instruments of love on the Lord's day.

And St. Paul says "yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me." Galatians 2: 20

Instruments open like a pipeline.

Instruments like Clear-water.

It's God's will we are instruments of His
Instruments of love, filled with the Holy Spirit.

God’s ways are not our ways. The unity of oneness God wants is far beyond anything we know.

As He takes us deeper into that oneness, we know this more and more. God is absolute truth. The more the Holy Spirit fills us, the deeper we grow in oneness with God and the truth is in us.

We put on Christ, we are robed more and more in His grace.

This is His life in us, more abundantly, filling us ever more, possessing our soul, permeating our being, living in deeper oneness.

When a soul goes to heaven, they are full of life. All then becomes a life lived for deeper oneness in God.

Shepherds of Christ offers this opportunity to dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

This interior life in Him is ever growing as we surrender ourselves more and more to God.

One bread. One body.

One in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

One. One. One.

Life in Him.

Deeper and deeper as Fr. Carter's message July 31, 1994 promises.

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)

Sing: Deep Within

R. Deeper in His Heart.

The interior life in Him.

R. Pride can turn on us and destroy us.

Narcissistic

Concern selfishness for ourselves and little concern for others.

The Golden Rule

Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

If we are to live in peace with others we must balance concern for self and others.

Using talents to do God’s work is healthy pride
Bad pride pushing everybody else out of our way, selfishness.

Everybody trying to criticize Jesus.

We do things to help people. Not doing it for selfish gain.

Very day living to serve Jesus.

Dwelling deeper in Our Two Hearts.
We love you with pure and perfect love.

You will be greater one in Us.
You will be greater one with each other.

You are my little child and I love you more than any mother,
With my heavenly love.

You are my baby. I hold you in my arms next to my heart – do not give into fear – operate in love always and please your Father in heaven, as an obedient little one on fire with love, and loving your Daddy’s will for you.

You are precious to God the Father. He created you, child, so beautiful and so special to His plan to help lead men to their heavenly home of pure love.

R. We do it for God’s children.

For our eternal salvation.

For our priests. For the Church and the world.

Satan is ugly.

God is light and in Him is no darkness.

God is love and He gifts us.

Why would people throw it back at God in pride, anger, envy and darkness?

the spirit of wisdom and insight,
the spirit of counsel and power,
the spirit of knowledge
    and fear of Yahweh:
his inspiration will lie in fearing Yahweh.
His judgement will not be
    by appearances.
his verdict not given on hearsay.

                R. The gifts help us to be strengthened
                    against temptations of the devil.

i.e. A person who is foolish can be strengthened
by the gift of wisdom –

A person being rash can be strengthened
                    by the gift of counsel

A coward can be strengthened by the
                    gift of fortitude –

A person who is ignorant can
                    by strengthened by the gift
                    of knowledge –

A person hard in heart can be strengthened
by the gift of piety –

A person full of pride can be strengthened
by the gift of fear of the Lord.

The deadly sins are pride, anger,
                    envy, jealousy, slothfulness,
                    lust and gluttony –

These gifts can help strengthen us
                    and make us holy against
                    temptation.

Original sin is taken away by baptism,
but the tendencies toward the deadly
sins still exist because our human
nature is wounded due to original
                sin –

The deadly sins are called capital
sins because they are the source of
                all sins we commit.

The gifts help us to do what is right
                in a super human way.

Romans 8: 5-9

Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires; those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things. And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life and peace, because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God's Law, and indeed it cannot, and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God. You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made a home in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

                 R. The Holy Spirit wants to move in our lives –
we must be open to Him and docile
                to His touch –

The virtue of love helps us love God
as we should with our whole heart,
our whole soul, our whole being,
and love our neighbor as ourselves –
Every person is created by God with a
purpose – we need to see that it is
God's will we live by His will and
others live by His will for them –
Wisdom helps us to see others in their
relation to God – to rejoice when
they are doing God's will and others
would not try to block us doing
God's will – We value our brothers
serving God as they should and rejoice!

                    We encounter difficulties in life,
but we keep our focus on the prize of
eternal salvation – all our actions
should have as their focus eternal
salvation – Does it matter if God asks
us to carry a pebble or a boulder –
just seek His will and do it –
We need supernatural power to do that
which God is asking us to do, when
                we are faced with difficulties
                especially we need these supernatural
                gifts of the Holy Spirit.

We do not take our eyes off the
prize as heaven as our true home.

God is absolute truth. In faith
we seek the vision of God – to know
God's plan for us, to see through the
eyes of God. God the Father created us and
has a unique plan for our lives –
We have a unique calling, a personal
relationship with God – God the Father
is our Father – He created us with a
unique purpose – We seek this Plan –

God intends us to live our lives
according to our vocation to attain
eternal salvation – How sad one who
                abandons their calling from God
because of willfulness and rebellion –
Look at Adam and Eve – they received
all these gifts and they rebelled
against God and did their own will.

The Gift of Understanding helps enlighten the
mind to see the truths known by faith.
It helps us to see the spiritual vision
God gives us in faith and see and
                understand its beauty and know
its truths ore in this beauty given
by God. It helps strengthen our will –
Motive – the foolish may ask against
God's will, with a tainted, poison,
                selfish, rebellious motive –
We want right reasoning – able to
discern what is right and wrong –
We need the gift of understanding
that helps us to see the truth God
wants us to see and act as God
wants us to with eternal salvation
                as our goal.

Look at the Faith we see in
those who went before us –
Pope John Paul II, the saints, the strength
                in their souls –
                supernatural strengthen –

1 John 4: 17-21

Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because even in this world we have become as he is. In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment and no one who is afraid has come to perfection in love. Let us love, then, because he first loved us. Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also love his brother.

                 R. We see in the light the truths God
is giving to us – while others may
                walk in darkness –

In baptism God elevates our knowing and
                    loving capacity –

                Confirmation strengthens us ever deeper
                to be soldiers for Christ!

We put our confidence in God
in the virtue of hope – we trust in God –
We know God has all the power –
                He is All powerful!

Satan is a great deceiver – in
the gift of counsel the Holy Spirit helps
us to have this confidence – to seek
Divine Guidance, to open up to the
docile guidance of the Holy Spirit – we
seek what is right, avoid what is
                wrong and seek perfection in
our choices – we discern properly –
                fined-tuned in greater perfection –
We choose what is good and
                right –

We choose the high road –
We seek to please God first –
                Understanding more and more
fully God's calling of a person
to the religious life as so
precious and important to God –
                Understanding one's vocation to
any state of life as seen more
and more through the eyes of God.

A person who has the virtue of justice
gives to others what they deserve –
piety helps us to be just –
helps us in our duties toward
                    God and others –
Respect, also, for God and others –

We seek God as our Father –
others as children of God –

We act out of love for God and
                    others –

We see ourselves in the army
of God – loving God and
                    loving others as ourselves –

We seek to know in relationships
as God wants us to know as
brothers in the family of God
                    bringing unity and love –
we do this in Christ's name –

                    Temperance means we control
                our unruly desires and
                appetites. We see ourselves
as a Temple of the Holy Spirit and
we know we belong to God –

1 John 4: 17-21

Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because even in this world we have become as he is. In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment and no one who is afraid has come to perfection in love. Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also love his brother.

                 R. We see and reverence God and
we do not wish to offend Him –
We do not wish to offend those,
                our brothers because they
                belong to God –

We respect the Church and we
                are filled with gratitude for
all God has done for us –

                From May 8, 2019

Fortitude help us to be strong – We have
confidence that God will help us when things
                are difficult –

The virtue of fortitude helps us to
keep on keeping on with confidence
when things are very difficult, because
we are confident in God helping us.
We need to choose this habit of action
to stay strong on God, not give
into weakness when things are very
difficult for us – We need the Holy Spirit and
His gifts to strengthen us, to help
us be holy, to stay on the path in
                difficulties – we need supernatural
help from God. The Holy Spirit guides us in
the perils of life – The Holy Spirit helps us
to avoid difficulties, He dwells in
us. He helps us to make decisions
that are ordered and what God wants –
Fortitude strengthens us against our impulses
to go off the mark that – God wants for us –
our goal to please Him – to love Him –
to keep the goal of our actions for
                eternal salvation –

                Fortitude strengthens our souls,
helps us to be holy – enlightens
                our minds –
No matter what the difficulty – the
Holy Spirit can help us to be strong and
stay the course – we cannot do on our
own with our weak human nature –
we need the Holy Spirit –

Holy Spirit Novena

Daily Novena Prayers

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus, in union with Him in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in the Holy Spirit. We come to You united to the Child Jesus of Good Health and the Infant of Prague. We come to You in the perfect, sinless heart of Our Mother Mary, asking her powerful intercession, uniting ourselves to her holy tears. We come to You united to all the angels and saints, and the souls in purgatory.

Prayer for Holy Spirit

We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on us, to be baptized by the Holy Spirit, that He will descend mightily on us as He did on the Apostles at Pentecost. That the Holy Spirit will transform us from fear to fearlessness and that He will give us courage to do all the Father is asking of us to help bring about the Reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. We pray for the Holy Spirit to descend mightily on the Jesuits and the Poor Clares on the Shepherds of Christ leaders and members and on the whole Body of Christ and the world.

Protection by the Blood of Jesus

We pray that the Blood of Jesus will be spread on us, everyone in our families, and the Shepherds of Christ Movement, that we will be able to move steadfastly ahead and be protected from the evil one.

Healing

We pray for healing in body, mind, and soul and generational healing in ourselves, in all members in our families, and in all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, the Jesuit Community, the Poor Clares, the Body of Christ, and the world.

Prayer for Strength and Light

We adore You, oh Holy Spirit. Give us strength, give us light, console us. We give ourselves entirely to You. Oh Spirit of light and grace, we want to only do the will of the Father. Enlighten us that we may live always in the Father's will.

Eternal Spirit fill us with Your Divine Wisdom that we may comprehend more fully insight into Your Divine Mysteries.

Give us lights, Oh Holy Spirit that we may know God. Work within the heart, the spiritual womb of the Virgin Mary, to form us more and more into the image of Jesus.

Prayer to Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We long for You, Oh Spirit of Light, we long to know God, we want to be one with Him, our Divine God. We want to be one with the Father, know Him as a Person most intimately. We want to know the beloved One, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and live and dwell in Him at all times, every moment of our lives. We want to be one with You, Oh Spirit of Light, that You move in us in our every breath.

Prayer to Be One in Jesus

Let us experience life in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so we can say as Saint Paul, "I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me...." Let us live, united to the Mass, all through the day being one in Him. Let us be able to love and know in this elevated state of oneness with our God. We long for Thee, oh beauteous God, we love You, we love You, we love You. We praise You, worship You, honor You, adore You, and thank You, our beloved God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer to Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

We seek to be one in God, to live and dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, to experience life in the all perfect, pure, sinless heart of our Mother. We want the Holy Spirit to move in us and to be united to Jesus as the Bridegroom of our souls and be a most perfect sacrifice offered to the Father at every moment as we unite in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass around the world to help in the salvation of souls.

Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts

Come Holy Spirit, come, come into our hearts, inflame all people with the fire of Your love.

Leader: Send forth Your Spirit and all will be reborn.
All:  And You will renew the face of the earth.

We pray for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask for perfection in our souls to make us holy, holy souls likened to God.

Dear Holy Spirit, we give ourselves to You soul and body. We ask You to give us the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

Prayer for the Word Alive in Our Hearts

We know, dear Holy Spirit, the Word in His human nature was brought forth within the womb of the woman. We pray that His word will be brought forth in our hearts as He lives and dwells in us. We want the incarnation to go on in our lives. Dear Holy Spirit, work in us.

Little Prayers to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit, help us not to be ignorant or indifferent or weak, help us to be strong with the love of God.

Dear Holy Spirit, please pray for our needs for us.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to respect God and to avoid sin. Help us to live in the Father's will.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to keep Your commandments and to respect authority. Help us to love all things as You will us to love them. Help us to want to pray and always serve God with the greatest love. Help us to know the truth. Help us to have the gift of faith, hope, and love. Help us to know what is right and what is wrong.

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

First Period
Meditations Nine Days

1. Romans 8:14-17

All who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God; for what you received was not the spirit of slavery to bring you back into fear; you received the Spirit of adoption, enabling us to cry out, 'Abba, Father!' The Spirit himself joins with our spirit to bear witness that we are children of God. And if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, provided that we share his suffering, so as to share his glory.

2. Romans 8:5-9

3. 1 John 4:12-16

No one has ever seen God, but as long as we love one another God remains in us and his love comes to its perfection in us. This is the proof that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us a share in his Spirit. We ourselves have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Saviour of the world. Anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. We have recognised for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.

4. 1 John 4:17-21

5. 1 John 4:7-11

My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love. This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might have life through him. Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate our sins. My dear friends, if God loved us so much, we too should love one another.

6. Acts of the Apostles 1:1-5

In my earlier work, Theophilus, I dealt with everything Jesus had done and taught from the beginning until the day he gave his instructions to the apostles he had chosen through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heaven. He had shown himself alive to them after his Passion by many demonstrations: for forty days he had continued to appear to them and tell them about the kingdom of God. While at table with them, he had told them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for what the Father had promised. 'It is', he had said, 'what you have heard me speak about: John baptised with water but, not many days from now, you are going to be baptised with the Holy Spirit.'

7. Acts of the Apostles 1:6-9

Now having met together, they asked him, 'Lord, has the time come for you to restore the kingdom to Israel?' He replied, 'It is not for you to know times or dates that the Father has decided by his own authority, but you will receive the power of the Holy Spirit which will come on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and indeed to earth's remotest end.'

As he said this he was lifted up while they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.

8. Acts of the Apostles 1:12-14

So from the Mount of Olives, as it is called, they went back to Jerusalem, a short distance away, no more than a Sabbath walk; and when they reached the city they went to the upper room where they were staying; there were Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Jude son of James. With one heart all these joined constantly in prayer, together with some women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

9. Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4

When Pentecost day came round, they had all met together, when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves.

Second Period
Meditations Nine Days

1. John 14:21-31

Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and reveal myself to him.'

Judas-not Judas Iscariot-said to him, 'Lord, what has happened, that you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?' Jesus replied:

Anyone who loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him. Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not my own: it is the word of the Father who sent me. I have said these things to you while still with you; but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you. Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is my gift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. You heard me say: I am going away and shall return. If you loved me you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you this now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe. I shall not talk to you much longer, because the prince of this world is on his way. He has no power over me, but the world must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father commanded. Come now, let us go.

2. John 17:11-26

I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep those you have given me true to your name, so that they may be one like us. While I was with them, I kept those you had given me true to your name. I have watched over them and not one is lost except one who was destined to be lost, and this was to fulfil the scriptures. But now I am coming to you and I say these things in the world to share my joy with them to the full. I passed your word on to them, and the world hated them, because they belong to the world no more than I belong to the world. I am not asking you to remove them from the world, but to protect them from the Evil One. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world, and for their sake I consecrate myself so that they too may be consecrated in truth. I pray not only for these but also for those who through their teaching will come to believe in me. May they all be one, just as, Father, you are in me and I am in you, so that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe it was you who sent me. I have given them the glory you gave to me, that they may be one as we are one. With me in them and you in me, may they be so perfected in unity that the world will recognise that it was you who sent me and that you have loved them as you have loved me.

Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they may always see my glory which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Father, Upright One, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these have known that you have sent me. I have made your name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and so that I may be in them.

3. I Corinthians 15:20-28

In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep. As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead. Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life; but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belong to him. After that will come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolished every principality, every ruling force and power. For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool, and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put all things under his feet. But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjected everything to him. When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subjected to the One who has subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.

4. Revelation 3:1-3,12,16-19

'Write to the angel of the church in Sardis and say, "Here is the message of the one who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know about your behaviour: how you are reputed to be alive and yet are dead. Wake up; put some resolve into what little vigour you have left: it is dying fast. So far I have failed to notice anything in your behaviour that my God could possibly call perfect; remember how you first heard the message. Hold on to that. Repent! If you do not wake up, I shall come to you like a thief, and you will have no idea at what hour I shall come upon you.

Anyone who proves victorious I will make into a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, and it will stay there for ever; I will inscribe on it the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which is coming down from my God in heaven, and my own new name as well.

'...but since you are neither hot nor cold, but only lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth. You say to yourself: I am rich, I have made a fortune and have everything I want, never realising that you are wretchedly and pitiably poor, and blind and naked too. I warn you, buy from me the gold that has been tested in the fire to make you truly rich, and white robes to clothe you and hide your shameful nakedness, and ointment to put on your eyes to enable you to see. I reprove and train those whom I love: so repent in real earnest.'

5. Revelation 5:9-14

They sang a new hymn: You are worthy to take the scroll and to break its seals, because you were sacrificed, and with your blood you bought people for God of every race, language, people and nation and made them a line of kings and priests for God, to rule the world.

In my vision, I heard the sound of an immense number of angels gathered round the throne and the living creatures and the elders; there were ten thousand times ten thousand of them and thousands upon thousands, loudly chanting:

Worthy is the Lamb that was sacrificed to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing.

Then I heard all the living things in creation-everything that lives in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and in the sea, crying:

To the One seated on the throne and to the Lamb, be all praise, honour, glory and power, for ever and ever.

And the four living creatures said, 'Amen'; and the elders prostrated themselves to worship.

6. Revelation 7:14-17

I answered him, 'You can tell me, sir.' Then he said, 'These are the people who have been through the great trial; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb. That is why they are standing in front of God's throne and serving him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. They will never hunger or thirst again; sun and scorching wind will never plague them, because the Lamb who is at the heart of the throne will be their shepherd and will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.'

7. Revelation 12:1-8

Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, robed with the sun, standing on the moon, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant, and in labour, crying aloud in the pangs of childbirth. Then a second sign appeared in the sky: there was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and each of the seven heads crowned with a coronet. Its tail swept a third of the stars from the sky and hurled them to the ground, and the dragon stopped in front of the woman as she was at the point of giving birth, so that it could eat the child as soon as it was born. The woman was delivered of a boy, the son who was to rule all the nations with an iron sceptre, and the child was taken straight up to God and to his throne, while the woman escaped into the desert, where God had prepared a place for her to be looked after for twelve hundred and sixty days.

And now war broke out in heaven, when Michael with his angels attacked the dragon. The dragon fought back with his angels, but they were defeated and driven out of heaven.

8. Revelation 14:1-7

Next in my vision I saw Mount Zion, and standing on it the Lamb who had with him a hundred and forty-four thousand people, all with his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. I heard a sound coming out of heaven like the sound of the ocean or the roar of thunder; it was like the sound of harpists playing their harps. There before the throne they were singing a new hymn in the presence of the four living creatures and the elders, a hymn that could be learnt only by the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the world. These are the sons who have kept their virginity and not been defiled with women they follow the Lamb wherever he goes; they, out of all people, have been redeemed to be the first-fruits for God and for the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths and no fault can be found in them.

Then I saw another angel, flying high overhead, sent to announce the gospel of eternity to all who live on the earth, every nation, race, language and tribe. He was calling, 'Fear God and glorify him, because the time has come for him to sit in judgement; worship the maker of heaven and earth and sea and the springs of water.'

Revelation 19: 7-8

let us be glad and joyful and give glory to God, because this is the time for the marriage of the Lamb. His bride is ready, and she has been able to dress herself in dazzling white linen, because her linen is made of the good deeds of the saints.'

9. Revelation 21:1-10

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride dressed for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, 'Look, here God lives among human beings. He will make his home among them; they will be his people, and he will be their God, God-with-them. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness or pain. The world of the past has gone.'

Then the One sitting on the throne spoke. 'Look, I am making the whole of creation new. Write this, "What I am saying is trustworthy and will come true."' Then he said to me, 'It has already happened. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water from the well of life free to anybody who is thirsty; anyone who proves victorious will inherit these things; and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the legacy for cowards, for those who break their word, or worship obscenities, for murderers and the sexually immoral, and for sorcerers, worshippers of false gods or any other sort of liars, is the second death in the burning lake of sulphur.'

One of the seven angels that had the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came to speak to me and said, 'Come here and I will show you the bride that the Lamb has married.' In the spirit, he carried me to the top of a very high mountain, and showed me Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down out of heaven from God.

Revelation 22:20

The one who attests these things says: I am indeed coming soon.

Amen; come, Lord Jesus.

6. Hechos de los Apóstoles 1:1-5

En mi primer libro, querido Teófilo, hablé de todo lo que Jesús comenzó a hacer y enseńar. Al final del libro, Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, daba instrucciones a los apóstoles que había elegido y era llevado al cielo. De hecho, se presentó a ellos después de su pasión y les dio numerosas pruebas de que vivía. Durante cuarenta días se dejó ver por ellos y les habló del Reino de Dios. En una ocasión en que estaba reunido con ellos les dijo que no se alejaran de Jerusalén y que esperaran lo que el Padre había prometido. {Ya les hablé al respecto, les dijo: Juan bautizó con agua, pero ustedes serán bautizados en el Espíritu Santo dentro de pocos días.}

7. Hechos de los Apóstoles 1:6-9

Los que estaban presentes le preguntaron: {Seńor, żes ahora cuando vas a restablecer el Reino de Israel?} Les respondió: {No les corresponde a ustedes conocer los plazos y los pasos que solamente el Padre tenía autoridad para decidir. Pero recibirán la fuerza del Espíritu Santo cuando venga sobre ustedes, y serán mis testigos en Jerusalén, en toda Judea, en Samaría y hasta los extremos de la tierra.} Dicho esto, Jesús fue levantado ante sus ojos y una nube lo ocultó de su vista. Ellos seguían mirando fijamente al cielo mientras se alejaba. Pero de repente vieron a su lado a dos hombres vestidos de blanco, que les dijeron: {Amigos galileos, żqué hacen ahí mirando al cielo? Este Jesús que les ha llevado volverá de la misma manera que ustedes lo han visto ir al cielo.}

1. Juan 14:21-31

El que guarda mis mandamientos después de recibirlos, ése es el que me ama. El que me ama a mi será amado por mi Padre, y yo también lo amaré y me manifestaré a él.}

Juda, no el Iscariote, le preguntó: {Seńor, żpor qué hablas de mostrarte a nosotros y no al mundo?}

Padre justo, el mundo no te ha conocido, pero yo te conocía, y éstos a su vez han conocido que tú me has enviado. Yo les he dado a conocer tu Nombre y se lo seguiré dando a conocer, para que el amor con que tú me amas esté en ellos y también yo esté en ellos.}

3. I Corintios 15:20-28

6. Apocalipsis 7:14-17

Yo contesté: {Seńor, tú lo sabes.} El Anciano me replicó: {Esos son los que vienen de la gran persecución; han lavado y blanqueado sus vestiduras con la sangre del Cordero. Por eso están ante el trono de Dios y le sirven día y noche en su templo; el que está sentado en el trono extenderá su tienda sobre ellos; ya no sufrirán más hambre ni sed ni se verán agobiados por el sol ni por viento abrasador alguno, porque el Cordero que está junto al trono será su pastor y los guiará a los manantiales de las aguas de la vida; y Dios enjugará las lágrimas de sus ojos.}

7. Apocalipsis 12:1-8

Apocalipsis 19:7-8

Alegrémonos, regocijémonos
démosle honor y gloria,
porque han llegado las bodas del
Cordero.
Su esposa se ha engalanado,
la han vestido de lino fino,
deslumbrante de blancura
-el lino son las buenas acciones
de los santos-.

9. Apocalipsis 21:1-10

Después vi un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, pies el primer cielo y la primera tierra habían desaparecido y el mar no existe ya. Y vi a la Ciudad Santa, la nueva Jerusalén, que bajaba del cielo, de junto a Dios, engalanada como una novia que se adorna para recibir a su esposo. Y oí una voz que clamaba desde el trono: {Esta es la morada de Dios con los hombres; él habitará en medio de ellos; ellos serán su pueblo y él sera Dios-con-ellos; él enjugará las lágrimas de sus ojos. Ya no habrá muerte ni lamento, ni llanto ni pena, pues todo lo anterior ha pasado.}

Y el que estaba sentado en el trono dijo: {Ahora todo lo hago nuevo}. Luego me dijo: {Escribe, que estas palabras son ciertas y verdaderas.} Y ańadió: {Ya está hecho. Yo soy el Alfa y el Omega, el Principio y el Fin. Al que tenga sed yo le daré de beber gratuitamente del manantial del agua de la vida. Esta será la herencia del vencedor: Yo seré Dios para él y él será hijo para mi. Pero para los cobardes, los renegados, los corrompidos, los asesinos, los impuros, los hechiceros, los idólatras, en una palabra, para todos los falsos, su lugar y su parte es el lago que arde con fuego de azufre, que es la segunda muerte.}

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Reflect on the Word - Cycle B —  The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts

Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 1
Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00  plus postage

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10

Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 2

$ 10.00

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ–." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
