November 1, 2011 - All Saints Day
R. Generational healing
Our ancestors went before us.
Family We see the genealogy of Jesus.
We know Adam and Eve We have a past,
we come from parents who taught us
We say "Oh he went to Harvard", Oh so-and-so
was his teacher
What about babies who are taught about love
by parents who were struggling themselves
Healing the Family Tree
Oh Holy Spirit we pray You will fill us and help us
to see those things we were taught that
we need to change, things we learned
about being a man, a woman, having
relationships that handled problems to bring
growth and love to those we were involved
with
At a funeral, we know if a man was
holy and he is going to heaven we
know even though he died he will
live forever in heaven because he lived
his life pleasing God.
We see the leprosy of sin
We see the attraction of sin
We see how we were taught many things we
do that we need to change to have relationships
Come
Holy Spirit fill us
Oh Jesus by Your Precious
Blood heal us
How powerful the Eucharist is for
healing us
The devil works at Mass for those who
need healing to distract them when
they need the Holy Spirit at Mass and His council and
not the evil spirit counseling in our ears
during Mass
Jesus told me
Feed the hungry
Feed the hungry
Feed the hungry
for 6 weeks
Fr. Joe's book is the Word majorly
My book, the Blue Books talk about
the Eucharist
The world is hungry
We need the Bread of Life
The Bread of Life is the Word and the
Eucharist,
The Bread of Life fills us
It is abundant
God has given us this gift!!
This gift to feed us
We pray for the family tree so we
don't blame people in our lives
today for our sinful way, our anger,
our bitterness, on innocent others.
We can be bound by old bad wounds
in our lives that need to be healed
We want to see through the eyes
of the Father
It says in the scripture
"no defilement will enter heaven"
We want to be set free from any
bondage we have to sin
vices
We can pray to the Holy Spirit for healing
of marriages and relationships, but
we must pray for our ancestors
pray for ourselves to be set free
of inclinations that block us
from acting virtuously
Praying for grace to live a virtuous life
Pray to the Holy Spirit to enlighten the donors,
the members, the priests etc.
Experience the healing power of God
pray to the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit gives us joy.
Pray for families and marriages and
healings, not divorces
The Holy Spirit helps heal relationships on the rocks.
Luke 22: 19
Then he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.
1 Peter 1: 18-19
For you know that the price of your ransom from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors was paid, not in anything perishable like silver or gold, but in precious blood as of a blameless and spotless lamb, Christ.
John 11: 25
Jesus said:
I am the resurrection.
Anyone who believes in me,
even though that person dies, will live,
R. Where ever jealousy is involved
there can be the devil
or envy
Romans 5: 3-4
Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance, and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,
Acts 2: 3-4
and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves."
Romans 1: 16-17
For I see no reason to be ashamed of the gospel; it is God's power for the salvation of everyone who has faith Jews first, but Greeks as well-for in it is revealed the saving justice of God: a justice based on faith and addressed to faith. As it says in scripture: Anyone who is upright through faith will live.
Mark 16: 17-18
These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.
1 Corinthians 3: 6-9
I did the planting, Apollos did the watering, but God gave growth. In this, neither the planter nor the waterer counts for anything; only God, who gives growth. It is all one who does the planting and who does the watering, and each will have the proper pay for the work that he has done. After all, we do share in Gods work; you are Gods farm, Gods building.
R. Seeking dominance for dominance sake is
a negative behavior pattern
Isaiah 30: 21
Your ears will hear these words
behind you,
'This is the way, keep to it,'
whether you turn to right or left.
Matthew 16: 18
So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my community. And the gates of the underworld can never overpower it.
Isaiah 61: 1
The spirit of Lord Yahweh
is on me
for Yahweh has anointed me.
He has sent me to bring the news
to the afflicted,
to soothe the brokenhearted,
1 John 4: 16
We have recognised for ourselves,
and put our faith in,
the love God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever remains in love
remains in God
and God in him.
1 Corinthians 1: 31
As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.
R. Abortion is Violence!!
Sin!!
Sing: Veni Sanctus Spiritus
From the Lectionary
Pentecost Sequence
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine!You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul's most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;In our Labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
And our inmost being fill!Where you are not, man has naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill!Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away;Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray. On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
In your sev'nfold gift descend;Give them virtue's sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
Alleluia.
1 Thessalonians 4: 14
We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15: 22
Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life;
R. Oh Merciful Father hear us and
help us
Strengthen our faith, hope and love
Job 19: 1, 23-27
Job spoke next. He said:
Will no one let my words be recorded,
inscribed on some monument
with iron chisel and engraving tool,
cut into the rock for ever?
I know that I have a living Defender
and that he will rise up last, on the dust of the earth.
After my awakening, he will set me close to him,
and from my flesh I shall look on God.
He whom I shall see will take my part:
my eyes will be gazing on no stranger.
My heart sinks within me.
1 Corinthians 15: 51-57
Now I am going to tell you a mystery: we are not all going to fall asleep, but we are all going to be changed, instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet sounds. The trumpet is going to sound, and then the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed, because this perishable nature of ours must put on imperishability, this mortal nature must put on immortality.
And after this perishable nature has put on imperishability and this mortal nature has put on immortality, then will the words of scripture come true: Death is swallowed up in victory. Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin comes from the Law. Thank God, then, for giving us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 6: 37-40
Everyone whom the Father gives me
will come to me;
I will certainly not reject
anyone who comes to me,
because I have come from heaven,
not to do my own will,
but to do the will of him who sent me.
Now the will of him who sent me
is that I should lose nothing
of all that he has given to me,
but that I should raise it up
on the last day.
It is my Father's will
that whoever sees the Son
and believes in him
should have eternal life,
and that I should raise that person up
on the last day.
Wisdom 3: 1-9
But the souls of the upright are in the hands of God,
and no torment can touch them.
To the unenlightened, they appeared to die,
their departure was regarded as disaster,
their leaving us like annihilation;
but they are at peace.
If, as it seemed to us, they suffered punishment,
their hope was rich with immortality;
slight was their correction, great will their blessings be.
God was putting them to the test
and has proved them worthy to be with him;
he has tested them like gold in a furnace,
and accepted them as a perfect burnt offering.
At their time of visitation, they will shine out;
as sparks run through the stubble, so will they.
They will judge nations, rule over peoples,
and the Lord will be their king for ever.
Those who trust in him will understand the truth,
those who are faithful will live with him in love;
for grace and mercy await his holy ones,
and he intervenes on behalf of his chosen.
John 11: 21-27
Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died, but even now I know that God will grant whatever you ask of him. Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise again. Martha said, I know he will rise again at the resurrection on the last day. Jesus said:
I am the resurrection.
Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live,
and whoever lives and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?
John 14: 1-6
Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You trust in God, trust also in me.
In my Fathers house
there are many places to live in;
otherwise I would have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you,
and after I have gone
and prepared you a place,
I shall return to take you to myself,
so that you may be with me
where I am.
You know the way
to the place where I am going.Thomas said, Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus said:
I am the Way; I am Truth and Life.
No one can come to the Father
except through me.
R. Love is the basic ingredient
of life
It is said
"Love Makes the World go
around"
Pain, suffering and frustration,
long hours of work
seem to be taken in stride
if we are loved
God is a Person
He wants us to love Him
Absence of love can make days
long and dreary
If people stay disconnected because
they have been wounded and
don't want to get hurt
They are operating opposed to
the Creator's will
Love unites persons
To be isolated - never really learn
to love others and love God in
these love relations, is to work against God's plan.
We can love improperly
cease to love authentically.
Love can be false love
existing under false pretense
slavishly dependent
There are dangers in not loving
The devil wants people to
. NOT LOVE
. LOVE IMPROPERLY
Love is a risk
A giving of oneself
We need to love to mature as God the Father
created us to do.
God commands us to love
Matthew 22: 36-40
'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'
Sing: Open Our Hearts
R. If it is improper love it is not
real love
We are to live a God-like existence
to imitate Christ
We are to love human persons
as God wants
God loves us intimately and
intently
We are to love and act more and
more like God
Our capacity to love God and
others should be ever
increasing likened to God
His life is in us, through baptism
our knowing and loving
capacity is elevated
Loving is living
A mixture of happiness and sorrow
laughter and tears
exciting and ordinary
In loving in marriage
in deep relationships
the uniqueness of each person
to contribute to salvation
history should shine in
the relationship with another
Satan wants jealousy, envy, possessiveness.
God wants us to be all He wants us
to be
develop our talents
do God's will
and help to build the Kingdom
Real love does not interfere with
another's ability to do God's will
Real love is not jealous
Real love is not possessive
Nor puffed-up, pompous
True love is not selfishly possessive
Fr. Carter says: Love moves toward non-possessiveness
Love helps us to know oneself better
Living to bring oneself to greater
maturity and fruitfulness.
To love and be loved
To open oneself to allow others
to love us
Not 'love-hate' relationships
We need Selflessness
To be as we are uniquely
To love is to give oneself to
promote the good of the other
We grow to the extent we love.
Different relationships exist with
different people
Love entails not only joy, but
suffering and pain as one
grows and matures.
Problems of love are usually
problems of communication,
to prevent misunderstanding,
clearing the air.
Loved ones can be lost by
leaving permanently or
by death
In love there is not only some
pain, but the happiness
and joys outweigh the pain
Love is intended to go out and
reach others.
R. Love should go out to greater
love of all of mankind.
Lack of this core love for mankind
can lead to violence
among nations
between groups in nations
Man is to love his neighbor
We should pray for the whole
world.
Love is an energy - that should
go out
zeal to build up the Kingdom of God
zeal for life
The world is in the state of becoming
what God wants it to be
this love given individually
can help to bring peace
and understanding
John 3: 16
For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may have eternal life.
R. By loving we help curb evil in
the world; by loving our
neighbor.
God created the world in love.
His Divine generosity
He is love
Jesus died to save the world
To love God we must love
our neighbor
Sing: Let There be Peace on Earth
R. Union with God is the source
of love and unity
This union will strengthen us and
the world to be as God
intends us to be
We participate in sharing God's
life in sharing His loving
activity
The more we are one with God
the more we love properly
We are one with Him
there is power to love
The saints believed God loved them
mightily
Galatians 2: 20
and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me. The life that I am now living, subject to the limitation of human nature, I am living in faith, faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
R. We are becoming more and more in
the image and likeness of Christ
as we live out our
Christ-life in Him
We can shy away from God's love
the white heat of His love
the reality He is a Person
A Divine Person who loves us
We can be like the prodigal
son who thought happiness
existed elsewhere and not in
his father's house.
He was willing to eat the food
given to the pigs
We can be like this with God's
love that we search for that
which can make us happy
not in our Father's house and
eat from the swine
The virtue of justice, for
example, allows us to love
others to give them what is
their due
In temperance one loves
themselves and others not to
over - indulge
1 Corinthians 13: 1-3
Though I command languages both human and angelicif I speak without love, I am no more than a gong booming or a cymbal clashing. And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all the faith necessary to move mountainsif I am without love, I am nothing. Though I should give away to the poor all that I possess, and even give up my body to be burnedif I am without love, it will do me no good whatever.
R. The Spirit is present to make
us more alive
to help the individual Christian,
the world
the Church to be as God desires
In the fourth Eucharistic prayer we say: "Father,
you so loved the world that in the fullness of time you sent
your only Son to be our Savior...In fulfillment of your will
he gave himself up to death, but by rising from the dead, he
destroyed death and restored life. And that we might live
no longer for ourselves but for him, he sent the Holy Spirit
from you, Father, as his first gift to those who believe, to
complete his work on earth and bring us the fullness of grace.
Eucharistic Prayer IV, as in The Vatican II Weekday Missal, St. Paul Edition, p. 866.
R. God is a God of life, not death.
The Spirit is present to us in
order that we may have life
and have it more abundantly.
The Spirit helps us to be
alive, happy, vital
gives us newness
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the
faithful and renew the face
of the earth
The action of the Holy Spirit is
to renew!!
Renew the face of the earth!
Life in the Spirit is being alive
loving more and more like God
enjoying friends
being spontaneous
Laughing
Rejoicing
Enjoying nature's beauty
EAGER, FOR LIFE
Zeal for life
Believing, trusting and
loving Life in the Spirit
also weeping and sorrow
Being alive
Life in Him
According to God's will
Love in marriage
Love walking hand-in-hand.
Regulated by God's will.
A SPIRIT UAL MAN
The non-spiritual man lives
not according to the Spirit,
but according to the flesh.
Fr. Carter says: "Life according to the flesh
is intellectual pride.
It is working at one's
profession for selfish
motives. It is jealousy,
sloth, and unjust anger.
It is thinking too much about
one's self. It is a lack of
concern for human dignity of
the other." It is good for
power - over
i.e. cheating
We are to help build the Kingdom of God
To help in the process of renewing
the earth
To help the world and the Church to
be as God wants
The Spirit works in us to renew
the Church and the world.
Galatians 5: 16-17
Instead, I tell you, be guided by the Spirit, and you will no longer yield to selfindulgence. The desires of selfindulgence are always in opposition to the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are in opposition to selfindulgence: they are opposites, one against the other; that is how you are prevented from doing the things that you want to.
R. Life in the Spirit is living the grace
life which God bestows
along with the gift of
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The grace-life is a share in
God's own life
It is a sharing in His knowing
and loving
In life in the Spirit
We love God and others deeply
The Spirit's task is to deepen the
image of Jesus on us.
The Spirit is always inspiring
us to deeper union with Jesus.
We should be on fire for love of Jesus.
Philippians 1: 21-24
Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain. On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do not know which I should choose. I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the stronger desireand yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.
R. We are called in baptism to
put on Christ.
We follow in the footprints of Christ.
Living more deeply the mysteries
of Christ's life
The pascal mystery we live out
the mystery of Christ's
death and resurrection
in our lives
PASSOVER
We go through Jesus to
the Father.
Fr. Carter says
"All this reached its climax in
His death, but a death
oriented toward life, a
death which was the
definitive pass-over points
to a new life the life
of resurrection.
Christ's resurrection symbolizes the new
life of grace, the life in the
Spirit, which He gives us.
We maintain this life and mature
in it by living Christ's pass-over event.
We are called to die with Christ
so that we might rise more and
more with Him, not only
in eternity, but upon earth also,
As Christ's suffering was pointed
toward greater life, so is
our suffering in all its
various forms oriented
toward a fuller life
here and hereafter."
Christ was forming community
the People of God
the Church
Through the Church it
would be a leaven in
the world to help unity
and love among men and
this love would be strengthened
as they grew to maturity
with love in the Father's
family Strength in unity
The world, the Church, the
individual Christian is
in the state of becoming
more as God intends us to be

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postageGuiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15
Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postageGuiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15
Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postageGuiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15
Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts
