God offers us happiness through Jesus —
Jesus came to preach the Gospel —
good news of God's salvation
Christ offers us happiness — not worldly
happiness
a happiness rooted in love of God
our knowledge of His love
with Him.
Ultimate happiness is with Him
in heaven (a happiness that
begins on earth)
This happiness is acquired through
a death to self —
Happiness can come by being more
pure — not avenging others
avenging others
seeking power on those in authority
over us — makes us miserable
Matthew 5: 3-10
How blessed are the poor in spirit:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are the gentle:
they shall have the earth as inheritance.
Blessed are those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those
who hunger and thirst for uprightness:
they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
they shall be recognised
as children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
in the cause of uprightness:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Beatitudes for the world — not like God
1. Happy are those who strive for wealth — money can buy anything.
2. Happy are those who can use alcohol and drugs to escape from the things
that trouble them — they will not suffer.
3. Happy are those who step on other people to get ahead — they will rise to
the top.
4. Happy are those who get by with dishonesty and cheating — they will
prosper.
5. Happy are those who can get revenge — they will be satisfied.
6. Happy are those who give in to the desires of the flesh — they will find
life more thrilling.
7. Happy are those who have the most deadly weapons — they shall control the
universe.
8. Happy are those who can compromise on what they know is right — they will
be accepted.
9. Happy are those who can get by without religion and worship — they will
have more time for fun.
10. Happy are those who do not waste time thinking of others — they will
have more time for themselves.

Adam and Eve out of the
Garden of Paradise.
Jesus is the visible image of
the invisible God
Our earthly father gave us his life.
We are really his children
not just adopted.
God first loved us.

For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may have eternal life.
God gives us a sharing in His life
through baptism —
plant
animal
human
divine
This helps us to have deeper
happiness.
