Peace is from the Heart
Song: Let There Be Peace on Earth
R. When we receive the sacrament of baptism –
When we receive the sacrament of baptism –
we receive such a gift –
Original sin is taken away, but we still
have a wounded human nature and
effects from this.
When a person is wounded in their heart,
as a child, as an adult they can
shut down and not want to love –
It is easy to blame everybody else and decide
that we are without fault – when we are in
relationships – it is easy to say – it was all
their fault and none of it was mine –
but if we try again to open our heart –
we soon see that if we operate the same
way we did as before – in selfishness and
trying to work out our unfinished business
on others – playing games and trying to
be on a pity-pot – it won't work.
I remember the old story – a woman
had five men she married and they all had
the same problem.
Was she the problem?
Peace in in the heart.
Living is about relationships.
Having anger in our heart – life long –
and projecting that anger on innocent others
in an attempt to resolve unfinished
business – never helps, it only makes
us more untruthful and more impure –
Jesus shows us His Heart – His Heart is
perfect love – Jesus invites us to Consecrate
our heart to His all pure and perfect
Heart of love –
R. In the Heart of Jesus are the treasures
that will help us to grow to be pure
and meek and gentle in heart.
A dog that is wounded by the curb of
the street, bleeding - may bite the person
trying to help them –
A wounded person has to own the problem
in their heart and want to be healed.
Another person cannot change basic traits
a person has practiced that are not nice –
push people away, that they may use as
'love-hate' behavior when a person is
just being kind to them.
Living one's life as the wise-old owl
in the tree – working on everybody else's
faults and never, ever seeing themselves
in need of renewal is co-dependent.
People can live life long, if they can get away
with it, trying to fix others, who have nothing
that needs fixing. And the person trying to fix
everybody else cannot understand why
every one doesn't get under them and
wait to be fixed and rescued by them.
Life is for living – day by day. Of
flushing out the old wounds and living
in the moment. Living in the moment is
the only moment we can live in.
Living in the past with baggage like a
ball and chain is not living.
Peace is in the heart.
Jesus shows us His Heart –
Jesus tells us to give our wounded hearts
to Him.
Jesus wants to dwell in us.
God gives us baptism – the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit dwell in our graced, baptized
soul.
Peace is in the heart –
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, life.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
R. Did you ever have a spot – deep in the
carpet and company is coming and you
want it clean? Did you have to rub
and work at it because it was so old
and so deeply embedded in the carpet?
We can pray for grace to be healed of
old bad habits, but we must want the
bad habit to be removed, we must recognize
our defects and pray to the Holy Spirit to counsel
us on our own defects –
That is the gift of counsel – seeing our
own ways we must improve and die
to old bad habits – We pray for the gifts
of the Holy Spirit to help us to be holy –
Satan appears many times as an
angel of light and then tries to deceive
a soul by leading them into his
tainted snare –
The devil is a liar – the devil lies –
The devil wants to deceive a man – he
uses whatever he can to get his end
result. The devil is real –
He doesn't want men consecrating their
hearts to the Sacred Heart.
Some will say, "Why are they so contrary", of
another person? They may oppose everything
it seems in an attempt to never work
with others or have anyone ever tell them
what to do.
God is over us. We are to live obeying
God. The devil wants us to not go along,
to oppose what God wants. We are to
show God here below we work under
authority, we work to help bring His
Kingdom to men on earth –
Some are contrary to right reasoning,
they have trained themselves to hold out
to not go along.
The measuring stick can be for
a man – when you can't give hardly
at all – where God is calling you to
give – an examination of what is
making contrariness and opposition to
what is needed - so appealing to a person
who is living in misery and opposing
God's will.
We need to pray to the Holy Spirit to help
us to see what we need to change in ourselves
and listen to Him and be docile to His
touch. The Holy Spirit wants to work in our
hearts. So does the evil spirit, the
devil – he wants us to oppose and
be contrary and work in pride and
be the great opposer of right reasoning.
The devil argues – "You have a free will,
use it to oppose, don't let anybody
tell you what to do"
We pray to the Holy Spirit to be like Mary.
Mary is the Queen of Peace –
We go to her pure and Immaculate Heart
and consecrate our heart to her –
Priestly Newsletter Book II - September/October 1997
In all this Mary offers an example. Selfishness was totally foreign to her. She did not belong to herself. She belonged to God. She was not closed in upon herself. She was completely open to God. When God spoke, she listened. When God pointed the way, she followed. She realized that life is not a process a person masters by carefully mapping out one's own self-conceived plans of conquest, but a mystery to be gradually experienced by being open to God's personal and loving guidance.
Selfishness, then, did not close Mary off from God's call. Neither did fear. God asked her to assume a tremendous responsibility. He asked her to be the Mother of Jesus. Mary did not engage in a process of false humility and say that such a great role was above her. She did not say that she did not have the proper qualifications for this awesome mission. Briefly, she did not waste time looking at herself, making pleas that she was not worthy, telling the angel he had better go look for someone else. No, Mary did not look at herself. Her gaze was absorbed in God. She fully realized that whatever God asked of her, His grace would accomplish. She fully realized that although she herself had to cooperate, this work was much more God's than hers.
Mary's words, then, truly sum up what is the authentic Christian response at any point of life, in any kind of situation: "I am the handmaid of the Lord," said Mary, "let what you have said be done to me".
R. Mary loved the Father's will –
We must live our lives to love the Father's
will and be obedient to the Heavenly
Father.
When we meditate on the Joyful Mysteries –
we see how Mary was called by God
and she responded in her "yes"
Call – Response –
We see Mary's life unfold – Jesus was
formed in the womb of Mary
through the power of the Holy Spirit –
Mary is the perfect handmaid and
servant of the Lord –
Mary is a Handmaid and Servant
of the Good Shepherd –
Mary has an Immaculate Heart
R. Help with the
work in the Church and
in the world.
R. Preparing for Mass
Interior Disposition
Satan wants division – opposition > misery
Path to Perfection
Unity – love – obedience to God's will
Consecration to the
Hearts of Jesus and Mary
Act of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
"Lord Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock, I consecrate myself to Your most Sacred Heart. From Your pierced Heart the Church was born, the Church You have called me, as a member of Shepherds of Christ Associates, to serve in a most special way. You reveal Your Heart as a symbol of Your love in all its aspects, including Your most special love for me, whom You have chosen as Your companion in this most important work. Help me to always love You in return. Help me to give myself entirely to You. Help me always to pour out my life in love of God and neighbor! Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You!
"Dear Blessed Virgin Mary, I consecrate myself to your maternal and Immaculate Heart, this Heart which is symbol of your life of love. You are the Mother of my Savior. You are also my Mother. You love me with a most special love as a member of Shepherds of Christ Associates, a movement created by your Son as a powerful instrument for the renewal of the Church and the world. In a return of love, I give myself entirely to your motherly love and protection. You followed Jesus perfectly. You are His first and perfect disciple. Teach me to imitate you in the putting on of Christ. Be my motherly intercessor so that, through your Immaculate Heart, I may be guided to an ever closer union with the pierced Heart of Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock."
R. We live Christ's mysteries

IN OUR VOCATION
Interior Disposition
Focusing on living the Mass
Prayers are from the heart –
Prayers are the focus –
God is the focus in prayer+
Prayers are not shouted, mechanical,
leading people –
prayers are about giving
honor to God –
Prayers are from the heart –
Prayers are not to be heartless,
repetition focusing on others
listening to us –
Prayers are an interior offering –
Jesus: Quit focusing on what other people
think and do what God is
wanting you to do.
I come and show you My Heart –
Focus on God –
Be heart-felt –
Praise and honor God –
I give you Myself –
focus on that –
I give you My Body and Blood.
I shed My Blood – I died for you –
I give you the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass –
the sacrifice of Calvary,
sacramentally made present –
Interior Disposition –
Purity of heart –
Peace is in the heart –
Pray for an increase of the
virtues of faith, hope and love –
Greater purity of heart all day –
Be heartfelt –
Be accountable for your actions,
not mechanical and ignoring
what you did!
Be responsible for your actions –
Live to please God –
Not focused on what others are
thinking –
Be heart-felt and loving –
Not stiff and not bending –
Live in the moment – it is the only
moment you have –
Song: Live This Day
R. Love the Father's will like Mary.
Put your heart in My Heart.
Death / Resurrection
Dying to self-will, living and loving
God's will – like Mary
At the beginning of Mass – say how sorry
you are for your sins –
At Mass:
Thanksgiving
Reparation
Love
Satisfaction for sins
Do not be sterile –
Be heart-felt!
How is your interior disposition?
At Mass be so one with Me in
mind and heart –
The devil wants you to come to Mass
and be distracted, some are
angry, some are focused on
what people think
To one much is given, much is
expected –
1 Peter 5: 8-9
Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that the community of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.
Jesus: Follow the path to perfection –
I called Servants and Handmaids to
be witnesses before men –
. to teach men about prayer –
. to model after My Heart and
. to model after Mary – perfect disciple
– perfect handmaid
Interior Disposition
Peace is in the heart –
What an honor I have given to you –
I called you to this vocation in the
Shepherds of Christ – what an honor!
A just man seeks the truth –
he wants what God wants –
he wants to be made more pure –
he enlists God's help –
he asks the Holy Spirit for wisdom to
see his imperfections –
he is giving his heart to the Immaculate Heart
of My Mother – so she will,
with the Holy Spirit help him to
be more and more holy –
The whole plan of consecration of the
Shepherds of Christ is the submission of one's
heart to My Heart and the heart of
My Mother.
From the Priestly Newsletter - 2000 - Issue 1
In his Encyclical, Redemptor Hominis (Redeemer of Man) Pope John Paul II states: "The special characteristic of the motherly love that the Mother of God inserts in the mystery of the Redemption and the life of the Church finds expression in its exceptional closeness to man and all that happens to him. It is in this that the mystery of the Mother consists. The Church, which looks to her with altogether special love and hope, wishes to make this mystery her own in an ever deeper manner...
"The Fathers eternal love, which has been manifested in the history of mankind through the Son whom the Father gave... comes close to each of us through this Mother and thus takes on tokens that are of more easy understanding and access by each person."
33. Pope John Paul II, Encyclical Letter, Redemptor Hominis, (Redeemer of Man), United States Catholic Conference, No. 22.
Jesus: As you give yourself more and more
to God – you become as God
wants you to be –
The willful man - holds back –
he is in control, he manipulates
to keep control – he does not take
responsibility for wrongs he
commits, he tries to deceive
others, because the focus is not
truth, but his pride, himself.
R. We see imperfectly - because of original sin
We see God imperfectly
We see others imperfectly
We see ourselves imperfectly
Our faculties are distorted –
Romans 7: 14-20
We are well aware that the Law is spiritual: but I am a creature of flesh and blood sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand my own behaviour; I do not act as I mean to, but I do things that I hate. While I am acting as I do not want to, I still acknowledge the Law as good, so it is not myself acting, but the sin which lives in me. And really, I know of nothing good living in me — in my natural self, that is — for though the will to do what is good is in me, the power to do it is not: the good thing I want to do, I never do; the evil thing which I do not want — that is what I do. But every time I do what I do not want to, then it is not myself acting, but the sin that lives in me.
R. A husband and wife should try to help each
other to get to heaven –
not be selfish
A husband and wife have had the sacrament
of Matrimony –
they are to be – ONE FLESH
There is tension between men and women
because of original sin –
Adam and Eve sinned against God –
A spouse is to help the person learn
to grow in love –
be other centered –
Relationships help us not to be self-centered,
but other-centered.
There is tension in relationships because
of original sin –
We must fight pride
pride is seeking dominance for
dominance sake –
A person that gives into dominance for
dominance sake is centered on
dominance – they are no longer
other centered –
We can see two people who marry and
are both focused on themselves –
two dominant people –
they won't give in –
We can see the world and it's sin where
the person becomes an 'object' we
use and we don't consider the
dignity of the person created by God –
We can see others as an OBJECT to
our end –
rather than a PERSON with
dignity created by God!
We can see harmony among men is broken
down when people are used as
'objects' to our end.
Because of original sin – we see harmony
among animals broken down –
harmony among humans – broken down –
harmony in weather broken down –
(hurricanes, tusamii etc. )
Because of original sin – there is disharmony,
ORDER now has turned to disorder –
Romans 8: 5-9
Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires; those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things. And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life and peace, because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God's Law, and indeed it cannot, and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God. You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made a home in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
Genesis 3: 17-19
Accursed be the soil because of you!
Painfully will you get your food from it
as long as you live.
It will yield you brambles and thistles,
as you eat the produce of the land.
By the sweat of your face
will you earn you food,
until you return to the ground,
as you were taken from it.
For dust you are
and to dust you shall return.
R. We have a wounded human nature
because of original sin –
we are susceptible to sin, to
rebellion –
Because of original sin –
men can try to do their own thing –
believe what they want
God has given us rules to live by –
Colossians 1: 24-28
It makes me happy to be suffering for you now, and in my own body to make up all the hardships that still have to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church, of which I was made a servant with the responsibility towards you that God gave to me, that of completing God's message, the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and has now been revealed to his holy people. It was God's purpose to reveal to them how rich is the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; it is Christ among you, your hope of glory: this is the Christ we are proclaiming, admonishing and instructing everyone in all wisdom, to make everyone perfect in Christ.
R. We have a free will to follow Christ
or not!
I am always to give first to God –
God chooses people –
He can choose a person, not the best
in his field –
choose a man to be a priest –
then that man who is a priest
has authority, but others
may try to think they are
better than him and try to
operate their own way –
this isn't right –
God chooses who He wants – maybe least
likely to us –
Doing good according to God's will should
be the sufficient reward in and of itself –
Because of the sin of Adam and Eve
death entered the world –
We see anger, wickedness, envy
between human beings –
We see arrogance and anger and
revenge among human beings –
Jesus says: Vengeance is Mine –
R. Some men and women want to be like God
without God!
Peace is in the heart –
God desires a pure heart in worship –
Not a heart full of anger and heartless
prayer –
God created man in His image and likeness
and He blessed him and man
disobeyed God –
At the time of Noah the world had become
corrupted –
We see from Adam and Eve, sin added more
and more sin to the world –
Noah found favor with God –
Man doesn't see as God sees –
Man can become slaves to sin and
they choose a depraved life –
Noah walked with God –
1 Peter 3: 20-21
They refused to believe long ago, while God patiently waited to receive them, in Noah’s time when the ark was being built. In it only a few, that is eight souls, were saved through water. It is the baptism corresponding to this water which saves you now—not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
R. Noah was saved from the flood.
Noah was obedient to God's commands.
Sign of the Rainbow –
Genesis 9: 8-17
God spoke as follows to Noah and his sons, ‘I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come, and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you; everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth. And I shall maintain my covenant with you: that never again shall all living things be destroyed by the waters of a flood, nor shall there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.’
‘And this’, God said, ‘is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and every living creature with you for all ages to come: I now set my bow in the clouds and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I shall recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word all living things, and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all living things. When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth, that is, all living things.’
‘That’, God told Noah, ‘is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and all living things on earth.’

Jesus: Interior Disposition
Prepare for Mass –
Be pure in hearts
Response in Christ - Chapter 4 by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.Excerpt from
In schematic outline we have discussed the manner in which the baptized Christian extends his Mass to his daily existence. As he so lives out his Mass, he is becoming more Christlike. He becomes a more perfect priest and victim for his next participation in the eucharistic sacrifice.
42 The beautiful cycle which the Mass contains lies exposed before us. As part of this cycle the Christian is intimately involved in the process of continued redemption. The Mass is the center of the Christian life: “. . . the liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the fount from which all her power flows.” 4342. For a current treatment of the varied richness of the Eucharist, cf. J. Wicks, “The Movement of Eucharistic Theology” in
Chicago Studies, Vol. 10 (1971), pp. 267-284.

Jesus:
I call you to live your lives as devout members of the mystical body of Christ. I have given these writings that men will realize that they are to live united deeply to the Mass going on around the world. Your lives, given as an offering, a sacrifice every moment in union with the Mass going on around the world. Your life, a sacrifice, offered to the Father, in union with the Mass in oneness with Me, in the Holy Spirit through the intercession of the Blessed Mother with all the angels and saints and the souls in purgatory.Your lives given as members of My mystical body can help to bring down great graces for the priest, the Church and the world.
Excerpt from
Response in Christ - Chapter 4 by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.“How does the Christian help Christ redeem the world? (Henceforth the term “world” is to be understood as including both rational and nonrational creation.) As previously stated, the Christian helps Christ redeem the world by reliving Christ’s mysteries. The same “events” or mysteries which accomplished the objective redemption further the subjective redemption also. Since at the heart of Christ’s mysteries are His death and Resurrection, it is especially these that the Christian must relive. As the Christian dies mystically with Christ through loving conformity with the Father’s will, he rises with Christ to an ever greater share in the Resurrection, in the newness of life, in the life of grace. As the Christian in this manner relives the paschal mystery of Christ, he is accomplishing not only his own redemption, but he is also, in a mysterious yet real manner, helping Christ redeem the world.”
Through Him, With Him and In Him
7From the Priestly Newsletter
Through the Eucharistic Sacrifice Christ the Lord desired to set before us in a very special way this remarkable union whereby we are united one with another and with our divine Head, a union that no word of praise can ever sufficiently express. For in this sacrifice the sacred ministers act not only as the representative of our Saviour, but as the representative of the whole Mystical Body and of each one of the faithful. Again, in this act of sacrifice, the faithful of Christ, united by the common bond of devotion and prayer, offer to the eternal Father through the hands of the priest, whose prayer alone has made it present on the altar, the Immaculate Lamb, the most acceptable victim of praise and propitiation for the Church’s universal need. Moreover, just as the divine Redeemer, while dying on the Cross, offered Himself to the eternal Father as Head of the whole human race, so now, ‘in this clean oblation’ He not only offers Himself as Head of the Church to His heavenly Father but in Himself His mystical members as well. He embraces them all, yes, even the weaker and more ailing members, with the deepest love of His Heart. (Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis AAS. XXXV, 232-233)
