The tax collectors and sinners, however, were all crowding round to listen to him, and the Pharisees and scribes complained saying, ‘This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.’ So he told them this parable:
‘Which one of you with a hundred sheep, if he lost one, would fail to leave the ninety–nine in the desert and go after the missing one till he found it? And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders and then, when he got home, call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, I have found my sheep that was lost." In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner repenting than over ninety–nine upright people who have no need of repentance.
‘Or again, what woman with ten drachmas would not, if she lost one, light a lamp and sweep out the house and search thoroughly till she found it? And then, when she had found it, call together her friends and neighbours, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, I have found the drachma I lost." In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one repentant sinner.’
From Tell My People
Jesus: "My beloved friend, tell My people how much I long to draw all of them to My Mother's Heart and to My Heart! I do this to the extent they allow Me to do so. The more My people come to Our Hearts, the more I empower them to love God and neighbor.
"I desire that all within the human family be united through deep bonds of love. Many refuse to enter into this union of love with their neighbor. That is why there is so much hatred and division in today's world between nations, within nations, within families, between individuals.
"There are, however, many of My people who, because of their growing union with Me, are increasing their capacity to love each other. There is being developed a strong core who are helping to spread love around the world. As these people dwell in Mary's Heart and My Heart, they are helping to bring about the great new era of the renewed Church and world. When the purification of Church and world is completed, this great era of peace and love, predicted by My Mother at Fatima, will be characterized by the triumph of her Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart, and love will pervade the earth as never before.
"I am Lord and Master. Listen to these words I am giving to you. Live these words! As you dwell in Mary's Heart and My Heart, love one another with the deepest love! I love My people with a tremendous love, and in this love I give them this message."
Reflection: In Christ, God calls us to the most profound union with the Persons of the Trinity and with each other. In The First Letter of John we see the enormity of this calling:
"We can be sure that we know God only by keeping his commandments. Anyone who says, 'I know him,' and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, refusing to admit the truth. But when anyone does obey what he has said, God's love comes to perfection in him. We can be sure that we are in God only when the one who claims to be living in him is living the same kind of life as Christ lived....
"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the dark. But anyone who loves his brother is living in the light and need not be afraid of stumbling; unlike the man who hates his brother and is in the darkness, not knowing where he is going, because it is too dark to see" (1 John 2:3-11).
Prayer:
Jesus and Mary, we ask for the grace to dwell more and more deeply within Your Hearts, so that we may grow in the capacity to love God and our neighbor. We ask You to take our petition to the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus: "My beloved priest-companion, I have given you this book of messages for the spiritual instruction of My people. I have put before My people the path I wish them to follow. The messages I and My Mother have given all converge upon devotion to Our Hearts, and, in particular, upon consecration to Our Hearts. Ideally, devotion to Our Hearts culminates in the act of consecration to My Heart and My Mother's Heart. Living out this consecration day by day leads to the highest sanctity.
"My people who make and live out the consecration to Our Hearts are helping to bring about the great new era of peace which the Church and the world will experience after the period of purification has been completed. This period of splendorous peace will be characterized by the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart!"
Reflection: Jesus and Mary, in Their great love for us, have put before us this book of messages for our spiritual instruction. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary ask for our response of love. They ask us to live the messages. They ask us to incorporate all the messages into the living out of our consecration to Their Hearts. Who would want to refuse Their invitation?
Prayer:
Jesus, we ask for the grace to realize each day the great love which You, the Father, and the Holy Spirit have for us. We also ask for the grace to realize Mary’s precious and maternal love for us. We ask for the grace to respond in love by living our consecration to Your Heart and to Mary’s Heart, as You lead us ever closer to the Father in the Holy Spirit with Mary our Mother at our side.

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.
I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

Reflection: We all know the role pictures of loved ones play in maintaining and developing our relationships with these people. Is it strange, then, that Jesus makes the above request?
Prayer:
Jesus, whenever I look at a picture or statue of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart, give me an increased realization of how much You and Mary love me! Give me a deepened desire to love You and my Mother in return. Remind me that You want me to renew my consecration to Your Hearts each day of my life.

Consecrate Your Churches, Home, and Workplace to Our Hearts
Jesus: I want you to consecrate the human race to Sacred Heart of Jesus. I want to be enthroned in all homes, churches, and businesses.
June is the month of the Sacred Heart. I want to be king and center of all hearts. I will keep My promises given to St. Margaret Mary of Alacoque. I promise all this from My most Sacred Heart. Consecrate your chapter to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Consecrate the church or room in which you hold your meeting.
Today is First Friday. I want you to circulate the message I gave to you on consecrating your homes to My Sacred Heart. Make booklets available for people to be able to consecrate their homes and businesses easily. Use the message I gave to you when you consecrated your home.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus will reign and the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph. Consecrate all homes and businesses to Our Two Hearts. Tell all to have displayed and honored, pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. May and June are the months of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Tell all to consecrate their homes to Our Two Hearts. I am the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this day, the 5th of May, 1995, First Friday, I request that you spend the next two months encouraging all to do this consecration.
Gather your friends and say the prayers I have instructed you to say. Sing "To Jesus Heart All Burning" and "Immaculate Mary." May these Two Hearts of love give all members of the human race peace, joy and love in their hearts.
R. Jesus said He desires to be honored by men in the Blessed Sacrament.
Jesus: Circulate the Blue Book messages. They promote this devotion. How My Heart is filled with happiness by the souls who come to the tabernacle and sit with Me. I am Jesus Christ, I wait and long and thirst for My precious souls to come. The souls of men have turned cold. I want souls to come to daily communion and be with Me in front of the tabernacle.
Men's hearts have turned cold. They do not know what love really means. I want hearts that are filled with fire for love of God. Men's hearts have turned to stone.
You are to promote devotion to My most Sacred Heart. I want hearts that burn with love for My Heart. It is through Me that you will know the Father's love. I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life.
Offer a holy hour for the indifference, ingratitude, and sacrileges committed against Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, the Sacrament of His greatest love.

You will be protected from the wind that blows so hard on you. You will be out of the rain. It may pound down all around you, but your refuge is found in My Heart. My Heart is a burning furnace of love. See yourself, little child, stand by the tree and whimper and you want to go it alone? Let My Mother lead you by the hand. You, little child, come with Mary, your Mother. Let her take you to the shelter of My Heart.

There is not life without Me. My life I give to you that you will have life and have it abundantly. Today I give you My very own Heart on fire for love of you. Come to Me through Mary's pure and tender Heart. We will shelter you in the darkest storm.

When I am filled up with Your love, Lord, I do not whimper as a little child. I am filled with love and peace and joy. Take me, Mary, to the Heart of your very dear Son and place me there forever in a little pocket surrounded by His ardent love. I want to be lost deeply in the recesses of this Heart. How deep do you place me in His Heart? I want to be surrounded by the immense love of Father, Son and Holy Spirit and know, Mary, you are so closely united in this Heart!This is the comfort in the dark, windy, wet night. This is my refuge. This is my life. This is the closest I can come to heaven on earth - to be united in such love with the Trinity and Mary!
Help me to let go of it all and come as a little child, running from the rain to the warmest shelter. A roaring fire, warmth, dry clothes and light - the light radiated by the Heart of Jesus. In the darkness I find my light in You. Alleluia. Praise God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Love to my beloved Mother. This is bliss.

Jesus: "My beloved friend, tell My people that I desire all to consecrate themselves to My Sacred Heart and to Mary's Immaculate Heart. Tell them not to just recite words in making the act of consecration, but to realize what they are saying. Consecration to Our Hearts means a total gift of self. It means handing over everything to Me and to My Mother. Consecration means a willingness to surrender completely to Me. In Baptism one is consecrated to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. But how many fail to live out their consecration! I extend to all the invitation to renew this baptismal consecration through consecration to My Heart and to My Mother's Heart.
"My beloved companion, I have taught you what this consecration means. I have given you great peace, joy, and happiness because you have made this consecration. I have taught you that you are to renew this act of consecration each day, I constantly remind you that you are to pray each day for the grace to more and more live the consecration. I have taught you that your consecration to Me and My Mother means that you constantly surrender yourself to Us and to Our care. I have taught you that the more you surrender yourself to Me, the more I live in you and through you and for you. I have taught you that My great love for you longs to draw you more deeply into My Heart. I have shown you that I wish your Mother Mary to place you there within My Heart, and that the more you dwell within her heart, the more deeply she places you within My Heart. Dwelling within Our Hearts, the Holy Spirit fashions you more and more in My likeness. The Father thus looks upon you with greater favor and takes you more closely to Himself. Tell My people all these wondrous truths. I am Lord and Master, and I desire all to listen to My words!"
Reflection: In the above message, Jesus describes what is involved in living our consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. What beautiful truths He puts before us! We know that the living out of our consecration is not always easy. Sometimes it is very difficult. At all times, and especially in most difficult times, we should remind ourselves how much Jesus and Mary love us, and that living out our consecration is our "thank you," our return of love.
Prayer:
Jesus and Mary, help me each day to live my consecration. Help me to concentrate on the present moment. Help me not to race ahead and try to live tomorrow and next week and next month before these times actually arrive. Help me to live the present moment of my consecration in the deepest faith, hope, and love.

Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus
My dear fellow Associate Members,
Jesus is calling special apostles to join a new division of the Shepherds of Christ Movement. Here is a message from Jesus given to Father Carter:
My beloved priest-companion, I am requesting that a new prayer movement be started under the direction of Shepherds of Christ Ministries. I am asking for volunteers who are willing to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for one hour, twice-weekly. Members of the Shepherds of Christ prayer chapters, as well as others, are to be invited to join this movement.
These apostles are to pray for the intentions I am giving you. For part of the hour they are to use the prayers of the Shepherds of Christ Associates Handbook. They may spend the rest of the hour as they so choose.
I will use this new prayer movement within My Shepherds of Christ Ministries in a powerful way to help in the renewal of My Church and the world. I will give great graces to those who join this movement. The name, Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, is to be given to this movement.
I am inviting My beloved Rita Ring to be coordinator for this activity.
I pour out the great love of My Sacred Heart to all. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock.
This is indeed a special calling for us to unite in one heart with His Eucharistic Heart and pray for the following intentions:

The Birth of the Full Ministries
of the Shepherds of Christ
"I wish to share with you part of a message which Jesus gave us on October 13, 1994. The message tells us about the expansion of the Shepherds of Christ movement:
'My beloved priest-companion, today I come to you with another mission. I am asking you to establish Shepherds of Christ Ministries. At My request you have already begun the priestly newsletter, "Shepherds of Christ", and the prayer chapters, Shepherds of Christ Associates...
'I am giving you this message on this day, the 77th Anniversary of the Great Apparition at Fatima, because of the close connection between the Shepherds of Christ movement and the Fatima message. The Fatima message is centered in devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart, especially in consecration to Our Hearts. Shepherds of Christ Ministries is also centered in devotion to Our Hearts. I will use Shepherds of Christ Ministries as a great instrument in helping to bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. When this occurs, My Church and the world will be experiencing the great era of peace promised by My Mother at Fatima.
'Today, then, October 13, 1994, the 77th Anniversary of the Great Apparition at Fatima, marks the birth of Shepherds of Christ Ministries. I pour forth the great love of My Sacred Heart to all. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock.'

"After the time of the purification is completed, this new era of the Church and the world will become firmly established. Reflection: This is the Age of the Two Hearts! The surest road to sanctity in these our times is through consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. In making this consecration, and striving with God's grace to live it as best we can each day, we are contributing to the establishment of the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and to the arrival of the reign of the Sacred Heart.
Prayer:
Father, give us the grace to make and live our consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Give us the grace to live this consecration with ever-deepening faith, hope, and love. We make this petition in union with Jesus and Mary and in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

I see Mary stand under the cross watching her beloved Son hang to His death. I am there with them, I hear the sound of the wind, the people in the background, the crying of Mary and Mary Magdalene and John, I hear others weeping. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gave Himself to the Father for love of us. He gives us the Mass, the sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present.Jesus:
“I give Myself to you, no less present than the day I died on the cross.” I give Myself to you and you run from My altar to be about your busy lives. I AM who AM, I am God. I am your best friend, I never leave you, the friend you seek, you were created to love Me. No human person can satisfy your soul, I am He who loves you with unfathomable love. I am the Almighty God, born of Mary, a spotless virgin in the town of Bethlehem. I give you Myself truly present in the Eucharist. I am truly present, My dear ones, do you not comprehend, this. Oh what a gift I bestow on you. I am with you in My Divinity and humanity in the Eucharist. I dwell in your graced baptized soul. I give you My life.R.
Mary stood under the cross supported by her beloved John. How Jesus loves us and she appears this day to tell us to return to the love of Jesus. He is in our midst and longing for our love. He waits with an open Heart. He is Jesus Christ, the Son of God and He waits to love and embrace us.There is such a connection between Their eyes on the way to Calvary. Jesus is so close to His Mother. She was there for Him. They are there for us always, They never leave. Are we there for those we love? Jesus shows us the way to love. It is in modeling ourselves after Jesus and Mary that we become more like God.
Jesus:
Do you have a model? Do you have one you want to imitate? I came to show you the way. I put on human flesh to show you the way. Do you imitate? or Do you do your own thing?R.
In being one with Jesus, we strive to imitate Him. God created us unique, to love Him in this special way.Jesus:

Deuteronomy 18: 15-20
Yahweh your God will raise up a prophet like me; you will listen to him. This is exactly what you asked Yahweh your God to do—at Horeb, on the day of the Assembly, when you said, "Never let me hear the voice of Yahweh my God or see this great fire again, or I shall die." Then Yahweh said to me, "What they have said is well said. I know who you are: the Holy One of God.’ But Jesus rebuked it saying, ‘Be quiet! Come out of him!’ And the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and with a loud cry went out of him. The people were so astonished that they started asking one another what it all meant, saying, ‘Here is a teaching that is new, and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.’ And his reputation at once spread everywhere, through all the surrounding Galilean countryside.

INTRODUCTION: (Deut 18, 15-20; I Cor. 7, 32-35; Mark 1, 21-28) Our second reading from Paul's letter to the Corinthians might be difficult to understand. So I would like to give a little background. The passage comes from a section of the letter where Paul replies to several questions he received in a letter from the Corinthians. In today's reading he is dealing with a question about marriage and celibacy. Paul begins by affirming the value of marriage and then he moves on, which is today's reading, to affirm the value of celibacy. He is not making a rule, but a suggestion to those who were not yet married or who were widowed and he points out the advantages of remaining in such a state (i.e. unmarried). Behind this suggestion was the expectation of the early Church, including Paul, that Jesus was going to return very soon and with his coming the world would come to an end. To quote what Paul said in last week's reading: "the time is running out" and "the world as we know it is passing away." If it sounds as if Paul is overemphasizing the spiritual advantages of celibacy, consider how you might view things with regard to getting married and starting a family if you seriously thought that probably in a year or three the world would end and Jesus would return.
Some background about our first reading might also be helpful. The setting is on the East side of the Jordan River across from the Promised Land. After many years in the desert, God's people were ready to cross the Jordan and enter a land flowing with milk and honey. Moses knew that God was calling him to leave this world and God's people would cross the Jordan and enter the Promised Land without him. Basically he is saying "goodbye." He assures them God would not leave them without direction or leadership. God would send them another prophet like himself who would speak God's word to them. We usually think of a prophet as a person who foretells the future and sometimes the prophet did, but the best definition of a prophet is at the end of today's first reading: one who speaks God's word. Our first reading prepares us for the gospel where Jesus speaks God's word with power and authority.
HOMILY: I believe that Jesus' experience with demons was also real. I would grant that probably in many situations epilepsy or mental illness were considered to be caused by demons, but I believe in other cases, it was the real thing Jesus was fighting against. Exorcisms make up the largest single category of healings in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. If in some cases Jesus was dealing with mental illness or epilepsy, we need to remember Jesus was a Jew who lived two thousand years ago. He was a man of his times and he saw his job was to do battle with evil, whether it was an evil spirit or the evil of disease. We, as his followers, try to make the world a better place and eliminate evil to the extent that we can. I would like to particularly speak about a great evil today - the evil of abortion. All priests received a letter this week from the Archbishop asking us to publicize a major threat to our belief in the sanctity of life. I have put a copy of his letter as an insert in today's bulletin, (on one side of the blue sheet - on the other side are the results of our Thanksgiving festival). I want to read a couple of items from the Archbishop's letter. He said, "The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that almost all employers, including Catholic employers, will be forced to offer their employees health coverage that includes sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception. Almost all health insurers will be forced to include those "services" in the health policies they write. And almost all individuals will be forced to buy that coverage as a part of their policies� And as a result, unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled to violate our consciences, or to drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so)." The Archbishop, at the end of his letter, is asking two things of us: 1) to fast and pray that wisdom and justice may prevail and religious liberty may be restored. 2) to visit the web (the address is in his letter), to learn more about this severe assault on religious liberty, and how to contact Congress in support of legislation that would reverse the Administration's decision.
You may have heard this before, but consider the following three situations:
1) A preacher and his wife are very poor and almost destitute. They already have 14 children when she finds out she's pregnant with the 15th. Considering their impoverished status and the excessive global population, should an abortion be recommended?
2) A father is sick. The mother has tuberculosis. They have four children. The oldest is blind, the second has already died, the third is deaf, and the fourth also has TB. The mother is pregnant again. Should an abortion be recommended?
3) A young, unmarried teenager becomes pregnant, greatly shaming her family. Although she recently got engaged, her finance is not the father of the baby, and he's beside himself with grief and anger. Should an abortion be recommended?
If you said yes to the first case, John Wesley, one of the greatest evangelists of the
19th century would have been aborted. In the second case, Beethoven. In the third case it would have been Jesus Christ himself.
The so called "pro-choice" people (who ironically do not consider whether the infant might have a choice in the matter of whether it lives or dies) say: "it's uncertain when human life begins. That's a religious question." Well it's scientific too. The DNA in a fertilized ovum shows the zygote is not that of a tree or a chicken or a chimpanzee or any other living thing except that of a human. Some say it doesn't look like a human. The question is what should a human look like? Does a male look like a female, does a Englishman look like an African, does a one year-old look like a fifteen year-old,? Does a fifteen year old look like a fifty year-old? A fertilized ovum looks exactly like a human being ought to look at that stage of development! Killing a defenseless, innocent human being is a great evil! Multiply that by the incidence of this taking place, by 3,288 per day (stat from 2009), and we have to be astounded at how much evil our country is guilty of." We who hold life is sacred should not be forced into supporting such horrendous evil. Edmund Burke is credited with having said: "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
