November 8th Holy Spirit Novena
Scripture selection is Day 6 Period I.The Novena Rosary Mysteries
for November 8th are Luminous.
Today's Gospel
Luke 14: 15-24
On hearing this, one of those gathered round the table said to him, ‘Blessed is anyone who will share the meal in the kingdom of God! But he said to him, ‘There was a man who gave a great banquet, and he invited a large number of people. When the time for the banquet came, he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, “Come along: everything is ready now. But all alike started to make excuses. The first said, “I have bought a piece of land and must go and see it. Please accept my apologies.” Another said, “I have bought five yoke of oxen and am on my way to try them out. Please accept my apologies.” Yet another said, “I have just got married and so am unable to come.”
The servant returned and reported this to his master. Then the householder, in a rage, said to his servant, “Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.” “Sir,” said the servant, “your orders have been carried out and there is still room.” Then the master said to his servant, “Go to the open roads and the hedgerows and press people to come in, to make sure my house is full; because, I tell you, not one of those who were invited shall have a taste of my banquet.” ’

Messenger: God emptied Himself.
Humble and all Powerful.
We get in our own way.
Be empty
Making room in our minds
and hearts for God.
God calls us and all these
people make excuses —
Some are turning down
the eternal banquet.
We set our lives on what
we want, many times, not the
Father's will, we say
"no" I am going to
do it my way.
Jesus emptied Himself for
the love of the Father to
accomplish His ministry.
We are the blind, the crippled
the weak.
Philippians 2: 5-11
Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God,
did not count equality with God
something to be grasped. But he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
becoming as human beings are;
and being in every way
like a human being,
he was humbler yet,
even to accepting death,
death on a cross. And for this God raised him high,
and gave him the name
which is above all other names;so that all beings
in the heavens, on earth
and in the underworld,
should bend the knee at the name of Jesus
and that every tongue should acknowledge
Jesus Christ as Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Messenger:
To taste of Your sweetness
Oh my God —
To come to me
To give Yourself to sinful me —
I eat Your Body
I drink Your Blood —
I am in awe that God comes
to me —
little me —
I empty myself to do His
holy work —
Holiness is obedience —
For all eternity we will
eternally be doing
God's will if we go to heaven.
God calls religious to
this deep spousal,
spiritual union with
Him.
The children of the religious
are the children of the
Church.
To see with wide vision
the souls of this earth.
A religious should have a
vision of the body of Christ and
how they work for deeper
commitment to our
baptismal vow and teaching
others of this.
Selfishness — seeing only one
self — disobedience to those
over us thwart our spiritual
growth —
for the religious it is
obedience and
celibacy
Religious orders have been
based on this
preparing us for heaven
Oh little do we know and yet
we can see how Christ
emptied Himself.
Do we learn the lessons of
the Savior?
He emptied Himself.
He took the nature of a slave.
Look at the lesson of the cross —
Many religious wear a cross —
It is to look at Jesus and see Him
giving Himself for the sake
of His precious souls —
Comforting His bleeding Heart
during His bitter passion
by our acts of love for
God who died for me.
Every sin weakens us, continual
sin leads to blindness
and can be like living in
a tangled net.
Looking at oneself as perfect and
justifying one's actions which
were sinful by blaming them
on an innocent other — further
constitutes sin.
There are levels of sinning, giving
into sin with the intention of
controlling another, punishing another
can be a pre-meditated sin —
disobedience to superiors further
adds additional offense.
God who came to this earth shows us
He gave His life doing the will
of His Father —
There is much grace that can be
granted for obedience to those
over us —
Hosea 6: 6
for faithful love is what pleases me,
not sacrifice;
knowledge of God, not burnt offerings.
Ephesians 1: 11-14
And it is in him
that we have received our heritage,
marked out beforehand as we were,
under the plan of the One
who guides all things
as he decides by his own will,
chosen to be,
for the praise of his glory,
the people who
would put their hopes in Christ
before he came.
Now you too, in him,
have heard the message of the truth
and the gospel of your salvation,
and having put your trust in it
you have been stamped with the seal
of the Holy Spirit of the Promise,
who is the pledge of our inheritance,
for the freedom of the people
whom God has taken for his own,
for the praise of his glory.
Luke 12: 1-7
Meanwhile the people had gathered in their thousands so that they were treading on one another. And he began to speak, first of all to his disciples. ‘Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees—their hypocrisy. Everything now covered up will be uncovered, and everything now hidden will be made clear. For this reason, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in hidden places will be proclaimed from the housetops.
To you my friends I say: Do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. I will tell you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has the power to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, he is the one to fear. Can you not buy five sparrows for two pennies? And yet not one is forgotten in God’s sight. Why, every hair on your head has been counted. There is no need to be afraid: you are worth more than many sparrows.
Sing: What you Hear in the dark, you
will speak in the light
Prayer for Union with Jesus
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.
I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.
I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.
When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

Messenger:
A man went out and he planted a vineyard
and he began to see it grow —
— at sun up - he went out one day and
an intruder had trampled all the
new shoots
— he felt betrayed and hurt, but could
not find the man
— a woman watched from the side and
had this discourse with the intruder —
the intruder shared how he hated the
man for his work and he wanted to
hurt him,
the woman said "what did the man
do to you" — he said he hated out
of jealousy — the vine grower was really a
gentle man, but he was getting
rich and he didn't want him
to prosper any more
the lady watched the man who planted
the vineyard cry and start over —
long hours, much toil,
but she was silent —
the intruder had been so angry
she had comforted him because
he was a troubled man —
but the just man —
she offered no word —
After days of toil, weeks, months —
again the man who owned the vineyard
came out and saw the little
shoots of his labor —
Again in the dark of the night the angry
man came to tear up the
place even worse, planting
rocks — for now he raged that
the man who owned the vineyard
was not stopped and tried again —
The old woman watched and in a
rage the angry man said this man
will never plant here again — now
old woman comfort me for my
sorrow, I am tired for my destruction
and the old woman again — listened
and sided with the angry man in
his rage.
At day break the man owning the vineyard
came and he knelt on the ground
and put his arms in the mud
and he cried —
Oh God I long for the fruit of the
earth and this intruder has
almost destroyed my land —
but God of Might, God of love —
I long to help the people and
provide them with juicy
grapes and precious wine —
Oh God hear my prayer
Again he began — for his faith was
strong and he toiled as never
before
and the moral to this story is —
the evil will be seen in its
evil —
No act is ever hidden from the Maker —
The one who enables others to tear
down while one plants is
guilty for their sin —
The evil man can be compared to the
devil —
who continually comes and
tears up the little shoots
by tempting others to sin —
Think of little babies —
freshly born —
sweet and gentle
and the television comes and
plants rocks in the mind of
children and we may
not know how to stop this
evilness, but to take a position of
acceptance, blindness, numbness
and not pray for the
priests, the Church and the world —
We must answer for ignoring this
which is right before our eyes
and we don't care or say we can't help.
The Might can be the Might of
God coming —
God divided the Red Sea
He brought a more pure race
after the flood
God is almighty —
And yet Jesus came — He emptied
Himself and took the nature
of a slave
A grape has a history
And so does every fruit —
The soil —
The seed —
The light, water, care
Then the trophy — a fruit is born
Likewise —
the evil seeds —
lurk from generations past —
eating like seeds of anger —
dad was angry —
grandpa before him —
they always yelled at their women
and she ran about — to the tune of
anger ———
As a little child they learned to be tense —
they learned to size up the room —
who looks angry —
what is wrong with this person —
The mind is a gift from God, but if
one has hidden sins —
anger that they fool themselves do not
exist
they can be like hungry dogs in a
basement —
If the smallest child opens the door
those dogs are out to bite the
innocent —
One plants
Another because of pride tears up.
And the enabler - in a family - lies to
cover it up, keeps it secret —
Look at Jesus on the cross —
bare wood
bare on the tree —
Christ the first-fruits
1 Corinthians 15: 20-28
In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first–fruits of all who have fallen asleep. As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead. Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life; but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first–fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belong to him. After that will come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolished every principality, every ruling force and power. For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool, and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put all things under his feet. But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjected everything to him. When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subjected to the One who has subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.

Messenger:
Well I tell you — no attachments —
born in a stable with beasts
dying on the cross — covered with
wounds not clothes
When one plants —
one can be more dramatic than
the intruder in this message —
Satan wants to get souls for hell —
Jesus, the Son of God, came He gave His
all for our salvation —
And they crucified Him to His death —
But in the death there is the resurrection —
Think of the 7 Sorrows
1. The Prophecy of Simeon
2. The flight into Egypt
3. The loss of the Child Jesus in the temple
4. Jesus and Mary meet on the way to the cross
5. Jesus dies on the cross
6. Jesus is taken down from the cross and laid in Mary's arms
7. The burial of Jesus
Each one and how Mary said "yes"
She was the dry martyr.
Some may come and love and give so much
and those seeking dominance
and pain — tear and tear at
the one trying to build up the Kingdom
of God.
We learn the mystery of the cross —
We learn what truth is —
We learn that God is peace —
We learn God works with rules —
Satan wants people to disobey the
commandments
Ephesians 1: 15-23
That is why I, having once heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus, and your love for all God’s holy people, have never failed to thank God for you and to remember you in my prayers. May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit of wisdom and perception of what is revealed, to bring you to full knowledge of him. May he enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope his call holds for you, how rich is the glory of the heritage he offers among his holy people, and how extraordinarily great is the power that he has exercised for us believers; this accords with the strength of his power at work in Christ, the power which he exercised in raising him from the dead and enthroning him at his right hand, in heaven, far above every principality, ruling force, power or sovereignty, or any other name that can be named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. He has put all things under his feet, and made him, as he is above all things, the head of the Church; which is his Body, the fullness of him who is filled, all in all.
Ephesians 2: 1-10
And you were dead, through the crimes and the sins& which used to make up your way of life when you were living by the principles of this world, obeying the ruler who dominates the air, the spirit who is at work in those who rebel. We too were all among them once, living only by our natural inclinations, obeying the demands of human self–indulgence and our own whim; our nature made us no less liable to God’s retribution than the rest of the world. But God, being rich in faithful love, through the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our sins, brought us to life with Christ—it is through grace that you have been saved— and raised us up with him and gave us a place with him in heaven, in Christ Jesus.
This was to show for all ages to come, through his goodness towards us in Christ Jesus, how extraordinarily rich he is in grace. Because it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith; not by anything of your own, but by a gift from God; not by anything that you have done, so that nobody can claim the credit. We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has already designated to make up our way of life.
Ephesians 3: 2-12
You have surely heard the way in which God entrusted me with the grace he gave me for your sake; he made known to me by a revelation the mystery I have just described briefly— a reading of it will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ. This mystery, as it is now revealed in the Spirit to his holy apostles and prophets, was unknown to humanity in previous generations: that the gentiles now have the same inheritance and form the same Body and enjoy the same promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I have been made the servant of that gospel by a gift of grace from God who gave it to me by the workings of his power. I, who am less than the least of all God’s holy people, have been entrusted with this special grace, of proclaiming to the gentiles the unfathomable treasure of Christ and of throwing light on the inner workings of the mystery kept hidden through all the ages in God, the Creator of everything. The purpose of this was, that now, through the Church, the principalities and ruling forces should learn how many–sided God’s wisdom is, according to the plan which he had formed from all eternity in Christ Jesus our Lord. In him we are bold enough to approach God in complete confidence, through our faith in him;
