Prayer for Grace for our Country
Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

R. Christ was poor and humble –
Religious should show that they live a
humble, selfless life - like Jesus –
The example a religious gives is important –
Christ took flesh to teach us by
example how to live in His image
and likeness.
How do you think Christ likes a person
called to the religious life by God –
testing Him – like He doesn't see
holding out – disobedience –
arguments with authority before
the community, to prove their bad
behavior is right –
Christ paid a precious price to teach us His
humble and loving way, to teach us to
walk in truth –
life for the one called in religious life is
to be an imitation of Our beloved Master –
not a display of pride, seeking power-over
for the sake of power –
Jesus came among men and there was no place
to lay His head.
I watch so many men go to the labor force
every day – working hard, 8 to 5 or longer –
young people struggling with the pressure
of learning in this world, Calculus, Science, Government,
AP classes in high school –
Then an adult in religious life living slothfully
before the community causing division and
isolation
when the call from God is vigor to serve
as the bride of Christ and give an
example of cheerfulness that religious
life is really something, instead of
sadness, boredom, being deprived
if they stay in.
We are to be teaching by example to be
men for others, taken action because
God gives us energy to love, to serve,
to be happy with the vocation as Spouse of Jesus,
a shining example of oneness with Jesus
before men.
Being called to a vocation by God is not a
little matter – are we leading men
to Christ by the joy of living our
vocation before men –
Do we welcome those who come to help
with loving arms so we can grow
and carry on the order for when
we are gone.
We are to bring Christ to others – but
religious are especially to bring Christ
to others with their joy and love for
their vocation called by God.
Religious are to beg for the grace, as Fr. Carter said,
for perseverance in their vocation –
Self-renunciation, Fr. Carter said –
He lived it – He taught it – He loved his
vocation as a Jesuit and we knew it!
How was Christ? For the religious is to be
a shining example modeled after Him.
He carried His cross to the hill of Calvary
and He died for our sins.
Christ calls people to their vocation to serve
Him and lead others to Him by their
example, their joy, their holiness.
The Standard, St. Ignatius talks about,
the Standard of Christ is to be
like Christ.
Servants and Handmaids of the Good Shepherd
are to live this life, called by Jesus,
with greater efficiency in the image
of Jesus –
living this prayer life – set down now
for 24 years by our founder and
what Jesus has told me as Co-founder –
living the calling praying for the priests,
the Church and the world –
spreading the teachings –
living the life – with joy – commitment –
spreading through example to others

R. Do you spread the fragrance of Christ to others?
This vocation is to lead people to greater and greater
intimacy with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
How have you shown those who come to
retreats in China and Florida this loving
example of your lives lived in intimacy
with Jesus – growing in the interior life!
The Centers of China and Florida are
for teaching people about the Movement,
especially during prayer services on the
retreats and 5ths and 13ths.
The healing services are prayer services
when we pray the rosary for healing –
people are to come to the China Church –
listen on the internet and pray together –
Centers are for people coming and gathering,
praying, working, eating.
Religious are to be models of the Christian life –
Religious are to lead other men and women
to be leaders before men of
the Christian life by their involvement
and prayer.
We are to center everything on Jesus –
that means every action is performed
putting God first and serving God
in mind.
We are to seek, to embrace to live by the
holy will of God. Especially religious
keep God in every detail of their lives.
Letting go of inordinate attachments –
From The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius,
by Louis J. Puhl, S.J. p.1121. SPIRITUAL EXERCISES
Which have as their purpose the conquest of self
and the regulation of one's life in such a way that
no decision is made under the influence of any
inordinate attachment
R. What attachment does a person hold onto that keeps
them from serving God – keeps them from
intimacy with God
(pride – being right, failure to take corrections,
vain power, holding-out and disobedience, control,
chaos in community, before prayer,
blocking planned prayer events for
attention)
One must focus on removing inordinate attachments
that are leading to sin and darkness –
bad habits of the deadly sins –
blocking growth because of wanting
to isolate and have control of things.
From The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, by Louis J. Puhl, S.J. p.12
23. FIRST PRINCIPLE AND FOUNDATION
Man is created to praise, reverence and serve God
our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.
R. Spiritual Exercises - are exercises to improve
one's spiritual life –
Fr. Carter's books
Response to God's Love
Response in Christ
Quick response in our exercises to
serve God quickly and in love,
in Christ
not creating chaos, division,
confusion,, debate, argumentation.
self-righteousness in corrections –
Disordered attachments are to be
let go of –
Love of Christ helps one do the will of
God with joy!!
Contemplation of Christ – a heart on
fire for love of Jesus –
A personal love for Jesus –
R. An ardent love for Jesus –
A sweet love for Jesus, the
bridegroom of our soul –
Sincerity in our love – no false
pre-tense
Do you really mean it?
We give our will and our lives to God in love.
A child-like love for our Father –
surrendering like a little child.
Excerpt of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, by Louis J. Puhl, S.J. pp.60-61
136. THE FOURTH DAY
A MEDITATION ON TWO STANDARDS
The one of Christ, our supreme leader and lord,
the other of Lucifer, the deadly enemy of our
human naturePRAYER. The usual preparatory prayer.
window at a former Jesuit Seminary
137. FIRST PRELUDE. This is the history. Here it will be that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his.
138. SECOND PRELUDE. This is a mental representation of the place. It will be here to see a great plain, comprising the whole region about Jerusalem, where the sovereign Commander-in-Chief of all the good is Christ our Lord; and another plain about the region of Babylon, where the chief of the enemy is Lucifer.
139. THIRD PRELUDE. This is to ask for what I desire. Here it will be to ask for a knowledge of the deceits of the rebel chief and help to guard myself against them; and also to ask for a knowledge of the true life exemplified in the sovereign and true Commander, and the grace to imitate Him.
FIRST PART
THE STANDARD OF SATAN
140. FIRST POINT. Imagine you see the chief of all the enemy in the vast plain about Babylon, seated on a great throne of fire and smoke, his appearance inspiring horror and terror.
141. SECOND POINT. Consider how he summons innumerable demons, and scatters them, some to one city and some to another, throughout the whole world, so that no province, no place, no state of life, no individual is overlooked.
142. THIRD POINT. Consider the address he makes to them, how he goads them on to lay snares for men and bind them with chains. First they are to tempt them to covet riches (as Satan himself is accustomed to do in most cases) that they may the more easily attain the empty honors of this world, and then come to overweening pride.
The first step, then, will be riches, the second honor, the third pride. From these three steps the evil one leads to all other vices.
SECOND PART
THE STANDARD OF CHRIST
143. In a similar way, we are to picture to ourselves the sovereign and true Commander, Christ our Lord.
144. FIRST POINT. Consider Christ our Lord, standing in a lowly place in a great plain about the region of Jerusalem, His appearance beautiful and attractive.
145. SECOND POINT. Consider how the Lord of all the world chooses so many persons, apostles, disciples, etc., and sends them throughout the whole world to spread His sacred doctrine among all men, no matter what their state or condition.
146. THIRD POINT. . . .
end of excerpt of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
R.
Jesus teaches us we must
love others – they were
created by God –
We are members of the family
of God.
If people learned love of
father and mother and learned
to work with their sisters
and brothers, they learn to
love more in the family of
the heavenly Father.
How did you learn to
love your brothers and sisters
in your family?
Was it a loving family?
Was it safe to trust others?
Was there family outings
and meals that were
fun?
We are to love our brothers
and sisters in the family of
God. Christ came and showed
us love. Mary went to
visit her cousin Elizabeth.
Jesus came a little baby. He grew
up in a loving family with
Mary and Joseph. He lived
a quiet life with Them and
He is the Son of God.
We see after Adam and Eve sinned –
sin entered the world –
Disorder entered the world –
Cain was jealous of his brother –
Cain slew his brother Abel.
We see the hatred and jealousy
of Joseph's brothers. They sold
him, they lied to his father –
they were so jealous.
We see the jealousy and disobedience
of Saul – he hated David,
but Saul disobeyed God –
Saul was willful – he
did what he wanted –
Then after Saul sinned he wanted
to punish David because
he was doing evil –
God is love –
God commands us to love our
brother as ourselves –
Jesus says what we do to others
we do to Him.
We are to follow Jesus, how
He loved –
In baptism he gives us
the supernatural virtues
of faith, hope and love –
We share in His loving activity –
He expects our love as members
of the mystical body to
be supernatural love –
We clearly see how far
hating our brothers,
punishing our brothers,
lying to our brothers,
trying to trick them into
getting mad
IS FAR FROM
SUPERNATURAL
LOVE.
God commands us to love –
when we love our brothers
as we should we are
loving Jesus –
Relationship with God depends
on how we treat our
brothers –
God commands us to love
Him with our whole
heart, our whole life
and our whole will and
to love our neighbor
as ourselves! !
We do good to our neighbor, our
brother because God commands
it – we don't do it for our
personal advantage.
We follow Jesus' example
who showed us love -- giving –
sacrifice – unity.
Religious are called to give
themselves especially for
others – loving and giving
for the sake of the children
in the Church –
Sacrificing in great love
and giving –
We see priests and hierarchy
who give so much of themselves
for others. Are we thankful –
religious brothers, sisters
helping those suffering –
praying for others – giving
great love to all –
Christ sacrificed for all
unselfishly – He gave His
life for our sins –
Men in religious are to grow
in greater virtue being
witnesses of God's love
before all. Open the Church,
their hearts in love and unselfishness,
gratitude to God for His gifts
and love to them, obedience
before all, respect, doing one's
duty – taking responsibility
and accountability for one's
actions, being concerned
with others' needs –
obedience to order to superiors,
to the law and the Church.
1 John 2: 10
Anyone who loves his brother
remains in light
and there is in him
nothing to make him fall away.
1 John 3: 14
We are well aware that we have
passed over from death to life
because we love our brothers.
Whoever does not love, remains in death.
1 John 4: 7
My dear friends,
let us love one another,
since love is from God
and everyone who loves
is a child of God and knows God.
R.
There are rules in every
religious order
like the "Rule of St. Augustine"
To have order in any religious
organization there must be
structure and laws and
obedience to the superior and
accountability and responsibility
for actions.
There must be rules to
have order – a spirit of
willingness to come and
serve and want the order
to thrive – not be an
independent, punishing others,
starting division, lying,
attacking events and
welcoming no one –
How could something so low
in anything survive?
Religious orders and those
in them are to be examples
of holiness and unity and
love –
like Christ and Mary –
These rules of holiness,
unity, community are
guides for one's exterior and
interior life.
Jesus: No man is an island –
The rules bind the people
into one – it is a community
of holiness – operating in
one mind and one heart
as I have called – in
structure, obedience, unity
and love –
Praying for the priests, the Church
and the world and spreading My
teachings of love in the books I
have given for the Church
and people in My flock.
It is a community apostolate
of this organization – centered
in the structure and work
I gave to Fr. Carter as founder
and Rita Ring as co-founder.
Every failure, disrespect,
disobedience hurts all this
Movement was called to reach.
The rules and how they are
obeyed – lead to holiness.
In this obedience a religious
grows in the virtues of
faith, hope and love and in the
other virtues of humility, prudence,
temperance, justice and fortitude.
Religious are to live a holy life,
not give into the deadly sins
of pride, anger, jealousy, envy,
slothfulness, gluttony and lust.
This takes commitment to
obedience to the rule, holiness,
prayers for one's vocation and
love of the institution, love
of the community – trustworthy
religious, truthful and
loving.
Neglecting the rule,
obedience to the superior,
lying, division, arguing
in challenging self-righteousness
is an open door to the
deadly sins and to satan.
Selflessness is paramount!
Freedom is found in obeying
God's will in unity and love –
This is a family with God the Father
as Father and Mary as Mother,
living in the Holy Spirit, united to
Jesus, the bridegroom of your
soul.
Every action can be
analyzed – "Am I putting
God first?"
Fr. Carter, S.J. examined his
conscience 10 minutes two
times a day to see if he was
living by God's will in love –
and living to put God first –
It was called "The Examen"

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15 |
Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15 |
Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15 |
Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15 |

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD. — Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10 |
