Luke 10:21-24
Just at this time, filled with joy by the Holy Spirit, he said, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children. Yes, Father, for that is what it has pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.' Then turning to his disciples he spoke to them by themselves, 'Blessed are the eyes that see what you see, for I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear what you hear, and never heard it.'

A Few Thoughts
How can you reach the life of resurrection, when you refuse to die to the ways not like Christ, or even admit they exist?
We are to live the
life, death and resurrection of Jesus in our lives.
A person that is deeply hurt, in order to not deal with it, may wish
that the world be molded according to them, not Christ so they don’t get
hurt again or have pain.
They can make themselves the source and not Christ, trying to mold things around them.
Heart - Who is in your heart?
If my heart
physically is full of high cholesterol,
then I must deal with it or have heart failure.
What about the
person, whose heart is so full of pain and wounds,
they refuse to deal with their spiritual darkness.
What about being heart dead, refusing to love?
Fr. Carter’s love, he says, has emotions.
Jesus' Heart is on-fire with love. Burning!!

A Few Thoughts
From Fr. Carter “Christianity is fundamentally a life of love. The Christian is one who opens himself to God’s love, and responds with a love of his own. The Christian also realizes that his life is not only a love relationship with God, but also a going out of his self-centeredness to other human persons in various forms of Christian love. Finally, the Christian is one who realizes that in one way or another. He needs the love of others and is willing to open himself to this love.” From Response in Christ by Fr. Edward Carter S.J.
God is love. God is
the source of love. We were created in the image and likeness of Jesus.
To love is to be more like Jesus. Heaven is for lovers.
Jesus gives us Himself in the Eucharist. We eat His body, we drink His
blood at every Mass. With every Mass we should be more and more
transformed in Him.
Jesus is love.
Fr. Carter continues: ”The Church, the People of God, must increasingly give witness to these multiple dimensions of love. To the extent that the.Church fails to do so, to that degree, does she fail to be a faithful continuation of the Incarnation.
For the Incarnation is above all a manifestation of love, and thus in various ways. First of all, Christ is the tangible and irrevocable expression of God’s determination to communicate Himself in love to men: ’Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost, but may have eternal life.’ John 3:16
We grow in our
relationships with God as we labor to love more our fellow brothers.
Likewise as we grow in our relationship with God, we love more openly
with others and accept more openly their love for us.…
Fr. Carter continues:”
Love of God
“It sounds so common place and obvious to say that God loves us. But if we could more perfectly realize what it means to be loved by God, our chances for complete transformation in Christ would be enhanced. With God‘s grace, we must keep striving for a deeper comprehension of God‘s love . This love has brought us into existence, has redeemed us, and has given us a special mission in life. God in his love is ever with me, preserving me in life, asking me to accept Him more and more, desiring to take deeper possession of me in grace. God loves me, and He is my supporting rock, the one who will never fail me, the only one who can be my complete fulfillment.
God is the tremendous lover. And yet, we know that only two often we fail to respond to. Him as we should. But we must keep trying. We must keep trying to fulfill more completely the commandment Christ he has given us.
‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’ Jesus, you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest in the first commandment. The second resembles it: you must love your neighbor as yourself…’ Mt 22:34-40”
1 John 4: 7-21
My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love. This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might have life through him. Love consists in this: it is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate our sins. My dear friends, if God loved us so much, we too should love one another.
No one has ever seen God, but as long as we love one another God remains in us and his love comes to its perfection in us. This is the proof that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us a share in his Spirit. We ourselves have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as Saviour of the world. Anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. We have recognised for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.
Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because even in this world we have become as he is. In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment and no one who is afraid has come to perfection in love. Let us love, then, because he first loved us. Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also love his brother.

A Few Thoughts
Jesus’ Love is Divine
Devotion to the Sacred Heart:
God gives Himself to man and man gives himself to God.
We see this Covenant relationship in the Mass.
We receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
I give myself to Jesus, He gives Himself to me.
Jesus’ Heart is the purest, most perfect Heart,
His Heart is heated in love for us.
Jesus’ love is Divine, on-fire love.
The love Jesus gives us is reciprocated by our giving of ourselves
whole-heartedly to Jesus.
The Mass brings this intense love between God and man.
And because of this love relationship with God, how do we love one
another.
Can it be said of us: “We know they are Christians by their love?”
What is needed in the tainted hearts today is a love relationship with the Sacred Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, our Savior.
What the world needs now is devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
What the world needs now is love.
In the Eucharist we are drawn to love of God and neighbor, for the
Eucharist is a sacrifice and sacrament of love.
The Church is to lead us to this goal as lovers formed in the image
and likeness of Jesus.
To be like Jesus is to love more tenderly as the Sacred Heart.
September 1, 1939
Germany bombed Poland, and there was World War II.
Until the messages of Jesus’ love are circulated in the Church, the
bloodshed will continue.
The Mighty Medicine: the burning love of the Eucharistic Sacred Heart of
Jesus.
Jesus hung for three agonizing hours against the darkened sky. Jesus gave His flesh! Jesus gave His blood! Jesus gave the last beat of His Heart, the last breath in His body! Covered with blood and weakened, He hung on the cross! Jesus gives us His body and blood in the Eucharist today.
This is love.
How do we return this Love to Jesus?
The Mass is the sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present.

A Few Thoughts
Fr. Carter has
gifted us in telling us much about the spiritual life.
The Christian life essentially consists in God’s loving self-communication
to us with our response to him in love.
God gives us a sharing in his life in baptism.
This life is nourished by the Eucharist.
Whatever the service is that we offer – an engineer, as doctor, as priest, as teacher, as mother, as nurse - it must be permeated with love. If it is not, it does not achieve its full effect in promoting God‘s creative and redemptive efforts.
At times it is only the motive of love, which will keep a person, faithful to his particular form of loving service. What but a deep love for her children supports a woman who has been deserted by her husband? What but a deep love of God and man can make a young man give up his family, the prospect of marriage, his homeland - all so that he may become a missionary priest?
It takes love, sometimes great love, to remain properly selfless and group activity. There is no room in such group enterprises for the person who is always mistakenly looking for the wrong type of self fulfillment at the expense of the particular organization. He who seeks his life shall lose it, and he loses his life, shall find it.
Another aspect of the situation of the love for others is this - we must be willing to love without receiving love in return. This is a hard lesson for us to learn, but a most necessary one. Father Carter says our Christian love is a participation in the love of Christ. And what is one outstanding feature of Christ's love? he has first loved man, and he has not always been loved in return. Yet Christ continues to love. In our love for others we also must be willing to take the initiative. God in his Providence wants us to receive love from others also. But if this love seems to be lacking at times, or only faintly manifest, then God can apply for the lack. The important thing is that we ourselves keep on trying to love.
There must be warmth in our love, likened to Christ. We are supposed to love God and man with our entire being. This means, in part, that our love is emotional. This is the way Christ as man loved, with his entire human nature. In the proper sense, Christ was a deeply emotional man. He wept in love over Jerusalem and he wept in love at the tomb of Lazarus. We know also that the children love to flock to Christ. He must have been a warm personality, for children, shy away from those who are cold and austere. Our love, like that of Christ, must also be properly influenced by the emotions. Otherwise, it is not a fully human love, and therefore not a fully Christian love.
Christ no longer walks the Earth. We Christians are extensions of the heavenly Christ. In union with Christ we help in continuing the tangible, visible presence of God‘s love in this world. Through the love of our visible, concrete persons we continue incarnational love. In loving those whom we may directly encounter in this manner – and let us remember. I can love a person with a basic Christian love without liking things about him – I help to give them courage to be and to become. Love received as a powerful force in developing the goodness in a person. Truly, when I love a person, I help that person become what God destined him to be.
We show love for others by allowing them to give us love. A person grows by, loving and receiving love from others, therefore, we are loving them by giving them this opportunity to grow. We ourselves need this love, which others give us. We are not self-sufficient beings; we are social beings who need others in so many different ways and going to the Father in Christ, we have to learn to open ourselves up to others and allow ourselves to be loved by them. At times in our pride, we shrink away from this truth: that we need others, this must be always be regulated by God‘s will. But we must resist these moments of pride that tell us we are self-sufficient. Remember, no man is an island.

The snow came and
was packed so tight against the window.
It came through the night.
God looked like He opened the sky and poured it down, while we slept.
We cannot predict
the weather exactly many times.
We cannot control the things of the universe.
Why do we think we can try to control other people,
events that may occur in our lives, accidents, children at play that get
hurt.
A lot is out of our
control.
We can’t even control many things in our lives that may happen to us.
Dear God,
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change...
Courage to change the things I can
and Wisdom to know the difference.

The snow lay at least 6 inches all around in the morning.
It was a surprise when I awoke.

God gives us the day

A sunny day

A Beautiful Night

Flowers in spring

There is order in the universe.

God runs the universe
God is all powerful!
God is love.
Put your trust in Him.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:
A time for giving birth,
a time for dying;
a time for planting,
a time for uprooting what has been planted.
A time for killing,
a time for healing;
a time for knocking down,
a time for building.
A time for tears,
a time for laughter;
a time for mourning,
a time for dancing.
A time for throwing stones away,
a time for gathering them;
a time for embracing,
a time to refrain from embracing.
A time for searching,
a time for losing;
a time for keeping,
a time for discarding.
A time for tearing,
a time for sewing;
a time for keeping silent,
a time for speaking.
A time for loving,
a time for hating;
a time for war,
a time for peace.

Things are out of our control

Jesus: A little bird play sweetly
on a branch and posed in
his basking sun. In the
morning he sang sweet
songs and the rest of the
day looked beautiful and
refreshed so you could gaze
on his beauty and watch
how he was cared for.
Oh little child, are you
not more precious than
a tiny yellow bird.
Oh My sweet one – breathe
in Jesus and out tension –
let go to Me. I am with you.
I never give you more than
you can handle.
I give you Myself in the
Eucharist – truly present –
Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
Love is giving oneself for
the good of the other. Loving
God and choosing to be all
God called you to be with
obedience to God's will and
love in your heart. I am
there in the most difficult
struggle.
You never relieve your own
pain by wounding others –
darkness and sin –
Turning your back on
My hand I stretch out
to you.
I am love –
I love you –
Let go to Me.
I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd
of the Flock.
I am your Savior.
I love you so much.
Mary came when she came.
Come Holy Spirit come!!
Mary came here and somebody on earth did this.

so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may have eternal life.
The Scourging at the Pillar

3. God the Father has a Plan for our lives.
4. God allowed His only begotten Son to pay the price for our sins.

4. They clothed Jesus with a dirty, purple robe and mocked Jesus, giving Jesus a scepter, hollaring: "King of the Jews" in mockery.
5. Can you see someone pounding thorns in your head, Jesus allowed this to pay for our sins that offends God.

7. Satan tempts men to sin - they tell themselves right is wrong and wrong is right.
8. Sin offends God, who is love and all worthy of our love.
9. God is love, we were created in the image and likeness of God.
10. God the Father, is our Father, He loved us into existence.

3. The Mass is the sacrifice of Calvary, sacramentally made present.
4. Jesus hung for 3 hours on the cross to His death.
5. We have original sin, but Baptism takes away original sin, but we have a wounded human nature and a tendency toward the deadly sins. We need Jesus!
The more we love, the more we are like Jesus. God the Father created us in the image and likeness of Jesus.
6. God wants us to go to heaven, and be with Him eternally in the beatific vision.
We were created in love by God the Father.
Jesus in carrying the cross felt abandoned and fell under the heavy cross, but love for us, "His beloved" consumed Him, because He wants us with Him forever in heaven. Jesus went with love for us, love for His Father, to the cross to pay for our sins.
Jesus consumed with Divine love, emptied Himself, gave Himself, suffered abuse, violence, rejection and death, so we could live and share in His life in Baptism and be one in Him.
7. Jesus consumed with love gave His all - the last drop of His Blood, the last beat of His Heart.
Jesus was buried in a new tomb and rose from the dead on the third day as He foretold.
8. The Mass is celebrated, all day around the world. We want to help in the work of redemption for ourselves and others.
We unite to Jesus in the Mass all day and offer our lives in unity with Jesus in the Mass, living the Father’s will in love.
Our lives are an offering (a sacrifice) united to Jesus in the Mass to please our Heavenly Father.John 3:16
For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may have eternal life.9. When we are at Mass we are offering ourselves with Jesus to the Father. We want a holy offering.
The Father is well pleased with Jesus’ sacrifice and ours together with Jesus and He outpours His grace.
The Father gives us Jesus in the Blessed sacrament. With every Eucharist we receive, we should be more and more transformed.
We receive Jesus, in the Eucharist: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
10. Oh God thank You for the priest - Persona Christi.
Oh God, I am a sinner, imperfect in my ways, but I love You so much.
Please God outpour Your grace to me and for the Church and the world.
God gives us what we need to be made more in that image of Jesus.
This is our destiny.Jesus was always preparing to return home to His Father.
We are little ones created by our Father. God gives us the Sacraments. God gives us a sharing in His life in Baptism and feeds us with the Eucharist.
We die to the ways not like Jesus to rise in Jesus, to be more filled by God.
Oh God we will go home to heaven someday if we obey You and love You as You deserve.
Help me to heal spiritually and please my Father in Heaven.
God created us for Heaven, eternally, we give our hearts to Jesus and Mary in love, to dwell in Their pure and perfect Hearts -
Fr. Carter called dwelling in Their Hearts, our little heaven on earth.
Only God can fill us with Divine love and help us to grow in the image of Jesus -
Dear God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You, I worship You, I love You
Come and fill my weary soul with You.Oh God is so good to us.
We are His “Beloved ones”.
God loves us personally.
God has all we need.Read the Blue Books, pray the Rosary, say the Morning Offering and give your hearts to Jesus and Mary.
Love, Love, Love -
God is love!!
God is the source of love and truth.
Live as the Father wills in love.Prepare to go home to the Father some day - live this way - to please the heavenly Father (Jesus did).
Listen to Jesus.
Amen.

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $10 |

Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $10 |

Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $10 |

Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $10 |
