Isaiah 9: 1-3, 5-6

The people that walked in darkness 
    have seen a great light; 
on the inhabitants of a country 
    in shadow dark as death 
        light has blazed forth. 
You have enlarged the nation, 
    you have increased its joy; 
they rejoice before you 
    as people rejoice at harvest time, 
as they exult 
    when they are dividing the spoils. 

For the yoke that weighed on it, 
    the bar across its shoulders, 
the rod of its oppressor, 
these you have broken 
    as on the day of Midian. 

For a son has been born for us, 
a son has been given to us, 
and dominion has been laid 
    on his shoulders; 
and this is the name he has been given, 
‘Wonder–Counsellor, Mighty–God, 
Eternal–Father, Prince–of–Peace’ 
to extend his dominion 
    in boundless peace, 
over the throne of David 
    and over his kingdom 
to make it secure and sustain it 
in fair judgement and integrity. 
From this time onwards and for ever, 
the jealous love of Yahweh Sabaoth 
    will do this.
  

Zephaniah  3: 14-18

Shout for joy, daughter of Zion, 
Israel, shout aloud! 
Rejoice, exult with all your heart, 
daughter of Jerusalem! 
Yahweh has repealed your sentence; 
he has turned your enemy away. 
Yahweh is king among you, Israel, 
you have nothing more to fear. 

When that Day comes, 
    the message for Jerusalem will be: 
Zion, have no fear, 
do not let your hands fall limp. 

Yahweh your God is there with you,
the warrior–Saviour. 
He will rejoice over you with happy song, 
he will renew you by his love, 
he will dance with shouts of joy for you, 
as on a day of festival.

Jesus speaks:     A voice cries out in the wilderness

                            Wake up Oh Zion —

                            Oh My People come to Me with hearts of love.

                            I am a God of Justice.

                            I come with such love to give you.

                            I am love.

                            Satan comes, he is dark, he is mean, he

                                wants your soul.

Messenger:        Oh lights of heaven, shine in the dark

                                corners of the world —

                            Oh Holy Spirit fill us

                            Oh God, thank You for Your gifts to us —

                            Oh God, thank You for all You have given

                                us.

                            Oh God help us to be grateful and to

                                pray with hearts of love.

Jesus speaks:    Oh My child, I am ever attentive to

                                the sound of your voice —

                            I wait by your bedside —

                                I love you to come to Me in the early

                                    morning hours and tell Me how

                                    much you love Me.

                                Oh My child I love you, I love you,

                                    I love you

Messenger:            Oh shine, oh lights of heaven —

                                shine on us, that we will not be

                                afraid, but be comforted by Your

                                love for us.

Jesus speaks:    Oh My child, do not fear for the very hairs

                                of your head are counted —

Messenger:        Jesus came a little baby in a stable in Bethlehem.

                            Oh God prepare our hearts, outpour Your love —

                            Oh God we want to be filled with Your love

                                and experience Your heavenly embrace.

                             Sing:  A voice Cry out in the wilderness

Messenger:       Oh city shine with light in the dark

                            night — let the lights of the hearts of

                            the people rooted in Him light the

                            way.

Jesus speaks:    I lull you with the soft wind —

                            to the evil man he sees black and darkness —

                            to the man of gentle ways he sees the velvet

                                sky adorned by the little stars and

                                he sees the wonders I have given to

                                you.

                            Oh that you would listen to the noise of

                                the cool breezes, oh that you would hear

                                the wind blow the leaves and rustle

                                in the trees,

                            Oh that you would hear the waves at night

                                as they rush into shore —

                            A man who walks in evil ways, hears the

                                clamor of evil in his mind, he is

                                not at rest, he delights in his malicious

                                behavior, he has no fear for his deeds —

                                he sees himself as perfect and judges

                                others harshly, untruthfully and

                                maliciously; he is focused on what

                                treatment he should get from others —

                                he plans evil deeds in his bed.

                            To one who comes in evil ways I say, your

                                deeds will not be forgotten, when you

                                continue to carry out malicious behavior

                                in delight without recompense.

                            As one who stores up rich treasure for a long

                                winter, fine wines, fine foods, wood

                                for the fire.

                            An evil man stores up deeds of malice for

                                his days to come and he continues

                                judging and hurting others with his

                                bitter, angry ways.

                            I am a God of justice.

                                I call you to love.

                                I tell you to be just to one another.

                            Night comes and the thief prowls around

                                looking to plant his anger on others.

                            Night comes and the just man does good

                                for his neighbor and cares for his family

                                with love.

                            Oh the days to come will be days of joy

                                as you grow deeper in your love union

                                with Me.

                                A man had a family and he cared for the

                            little shoots, his children grew and went

                            into the world and they, too, spread

                            seeds of love... and so on and so on.

                                I am a God of justice.

                                I call you to love.

Jesus speaks:    Wake Jerusalem —

                                Your light will shine and

                                men will feast at the table of love.

                            When I called you, you heard My voice

                                and you came in joy to serve

                                Me. Your "yes" should mean "yes",

                                and your "no should remain "no".

                            A garland of flowers I lay before you

                                My chosen ones.

                            I love you, I love you, I love you.

                            You are My little lights in a dark world.

                            You light the world with your love.

Messenger:        Oh night richly blessed — let this be a 

                                holy night to worship and love you

                                and to be at peace. 

                            Sing: Oh Holy Night

Jesus speaks:    Oh My people, peace is found inside —

                                It is an act of the will to

                                dwell on sad things or look for

                                happy things to be grateful.

                            You may be able to control some things,

                                but I am God I control the earth.

                            Pray for your families —

                            Pray for the family of the earth —

                            Oh that you would consecrate your homes, and

                                your hearts and all places on the earth

                                to the Immaculate Heart and the Sacred

                                Heart.

Mary speaks:    I am your Mother Mary —

                            I am the Mother of Jesus.

                            Jesus is the Light of the world.

                            You come to my Immaculate Heart and the

                                Holy Spirit works to bring you forth

                                children of the light.

                            Pray to the Holy Spirit to outpour His grace

                                on the people of the earth.

                            Oh little city sleeping in darkness —

                                awake your Light has come —

                                Jesus is the Savior of the world.

                            When night comes forth, the light of our

                        images will shine for the people of the

                                earth.

                            Say to your God —

                                Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I give you myself.

                                    I give you my life, I want to dwell

                                    in Thee.

                                your God for your holiness and greater union

                                with Him for you.

                            You see the star studded night —

                                but in the darkness, you see the little stars

                                so beautiful and so bright.

                            Oh my children of light, shine in this world

                                as little lights against the darkness of

                                sin —

                                Comfort your God —

                                Give Him your love.

                            My Son was beaten and He died for you.

                                He loves you so much.

Mary speaks:    Oh children, do not give into satan to divide

                                you to hurt you.

                                LOVE — LOVE — LOVE

                         A man went out and he did sordid deeds —

                            he was unhappy inside —

                            he was stuck in his malicious conduct

                            and his heart had become hard.

                        A man went out and to all he met he was

                            a light, he was loving, he left behind

                            him the joy he had in his heart.

                        During this Christmas season, pray to be holy,

                            pray to have a heart of joy, even though

                            sufferings befall you, you are at peace.

Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to who the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Messenger:    Oh God, bless our families — help this Advent

                            and Christmas to be a time of holiness

                            in our families.

Colossians 3: 12-21  

    As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfelt compassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord has forgiven you; now you must do the same. Over all these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond. And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were called together in one body. Always be thankful. 

    Let the Word of Christ, in all its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise each other, in all wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God; and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Father through him.

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them. Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord. Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.

Isaiah 52: 7-10

How beautiful on the mountains,

Messenger:    Dear Holy Spirit please enlighten us, help us

Annunciation  

                   l.    Luke 1: 26-38

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! The Lord is with you.’ She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?’ The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. And I tell you this too: your cousin Elizabeth also, in her old age, has conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.’ Mary said, ‘You see before you the Lord’s servant, let it happen to me as you have said.’ And the angel left her.

   Now, the snake was the most subtle of all the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked the woman, ‘Did God really say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?’ The woman answered the snake, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees in the garden. But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, "You must not eat it, nor touch it, under pain of death." ’ Then the snake said to the woman, ‘No! You will not die! God knows in fact that the day you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, knowing good from evil.’ The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for the wisdom that it could give. So she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realised that they were naked. So they sewed fig–leaves together to make themselves loin–cloths.

   The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden. But Yahweh God called to the man. ‘Where are you?’ he asked. ‘I heard the sound of you in the garden,’ he replied. ‘I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.’ ‘Who told you that you were naked?’ he asked. ‘Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you to eat?’ The man replied, ‘It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.’ Then Yahweh God said to the woman, ‘Why did you do that?’ The woman replied, ‘The snake tempted me and I ate.’

   Then Yahweh God said to the snake, ‘Because you have done this,

    Accursed be you of
    all animals wild and tame!
    On your belly you will go
    and on dust you will feed
    as long as you live.
    I shall put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and hers;
    it will bruise your head
    and you will strike its heel.’

     To the woman he said:

     I shall give you intense pain
        in childbearing,
     you will give birth to your children
        in pain.
     Your yearning will be for your husband,
      and he will dominate you.

   To the man he said, ‘Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat,

     Accursed be the soil because of you!
     Painfully will you get your food from it
     as long as you live.
   It will yield you brambles and thistles,
     as you eat the produce of the land.
   By the sweat of your face
     will you earn your food,
     until you return to the ground,
     as you were taken from it.
     For dust you are
     and to dust you shall return.’

   The man named his wife ‘Eve’ because she was the mother of all those who live. Yahweh God made tunics of skins for the man and his wife and clothed them. Then Yahweh God said, ‘Now that the man has become like one of us in knowing good from evil, he must not be allowed to reach out his hand and pick from the tree of life too, and eat and live for ever!’ So Yahweh God expelled him from the garden of Eden, to till the soil from which he had been taken. He banished the man, and in front of the garden of Eden he posted the great winged creatures and the fiery flashing sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Birth of Jesus

Now it happened that at this time Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be made of the whole inhabited world. This census—the first—took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria, and everyone went to be registered, each to his own town. So Joseph set out from the town of Nazareth in Galilee for Judaea, to David’s town called Bethlehem, since he was of David’s House and line, in order to be registered together with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. Now it happened that, while they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to a son, her first–born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the living–space.  

                         6. Luke 2: 8-14

In the countryside close by there were shepherds out in the fields keeping guard over their sheep during the watches of the night. An angel of the Lord stood over them and the glory of the Lord shone round them. They were terrified, but the angel said, ‘Do not be afraid. Look, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. And here is a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.’ And all at once with the angel there was a great throng of the hosts of heaven, praising God with the words: 

    Glory to God in the highest heaven, 
    and on earth peace for those he favours.

Luke 10: 21-22

Just at this time, filled with joy by the Holy Spirit, he said, ‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children. Yes, Father, for that is what it has pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’

Presentation in the Temple

                     1. Luke 2: 22-32

And when the day came for them to be purified in keeping with the Law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord—observing what is written in the Law of the Lord: Every first–born male must be consecrated to the Lord—and also to offer in sacrifice, in accordance with what is prescribed in the Law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons. Now in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was an upright and devout man; he looked forward to the restoration of Israel and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he had set eyes on the Christ of the Lord. Prompted by the Spirit he came to the Temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the Law required, he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said:

The Nunc Dimittis

    Now, Master, you are letting 
        your servant go in peace 
    as you promised; 
    for my eyes have seen the salvation 
    which you have made ready 
        in the sight of the nations; 
    a light of revelation for the gentiles 
    and glory for your people Israel.

                     2. Luke 2: 33-35

As the child’s father and mother were wondering at the things that were being said about him, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘Look, he is destined for the fall and for the rise of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is opposed—and a sword will pierce your soul too—so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.’

    3. Luke 2: 36-38

There was a prophetess, too, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was well on in years. Her days of girlhood over, she had been married for seven years before becoming a widow. She was now eighty–four years old and never left the Temple, serving God night and day with fasting and prayer. She came up just at that moment and began to praise God; and she spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem.

                   4. Jesus was taken to the temple by Mary and Joseph.

                   5. Luke 2: 34-35

Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘Look, he is destined for the fall and for the rise of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is opposed— and a sword will pierce your soul too—so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.’

                    6. The Prophecy of Simeon

Mary, Joseph and the child Jesus went to the temple. Simeon, the prophet, inspired by the Holy Spirit, met them and told Joseph and Mary of the great sufferings of Jesus and Mary. He told Mary that a sword would pierce her heart. From that point on, Mary ever remembered the prophecy of Simeon whenever she beheld her child. When she looked at His little body, even as an infant, she knew He would suffer. Every time she clothed Him and watched Him at play, her heart was torn in her chest as she knew what He would suffer. And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!

                    7. The Flight into Egypt

Joseph was told by the angel to flee. Joseph, Mary and the child Jesus had to flee because of what might happen to Jesus. They had to pack for a long stay. The child Jesus was so small! They left on their journey, hearts full of fear, trying to protect Jesus. They were forced to flee into Egypt.

                    8. Jesus Is Lost, In the Temple

Imagine the sufferings in Mary's heart when she realized the child Jesus was not with them. Think of how it would be to lose your child and not know where he was or if anything happened to him. With sorrow in their hearts, Mary and Joseph returned to Jerusalem to look for the child Jesus. And a sword, too, shall pierce your heart, O Mary!

                    9. Jesus Carries His Cross

Song: See the eyes that look at Mary, her tender infant child. See the child's Heart beat so tenderly, the Savior of the world!
See the eyes of Jesus and Mary as they met on Calvary. Mary's Heart knew Jesus' Heart so well! From the first moment of conception and throughout His life, Mary was so connected with Jesus and now she peered into His eyes. The crown of thorns adorned His Head! Blood ran down His face! A heavy cross on His back! Wounded, His whole body covered with bleeding wounds! And her whole life flashed before her, the life that she had spent with Jesus. This was the beloved child that she had held in her arms when Simeon told Mary that 'a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!'

                  10. Jesus Dies on the Cross

Mary stood under Jesus' cross as He was put to death. The child that she had held in her arms as Simeon prophesied, And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary! Now Jesus is dead on the cross! He gave His flesh, He gave His blood so that we might be with Him forever in heaven. He held not back. He gave His all. He calls out to us this day to see through the eyes of His mother as she appears and calls out with a Heart of great love, "Return to the love of my Son! He is with you this day. He remains with you, no less present than the day that He hung on the cross, in the Eucharist. He longs for you to come and be with Him. He is in your brother. How can you not love your brother when Jesus died for your brother?"

Her Heart was pierced with a sword. His Heart was pierced with a lance. What came forth was blood and water, the sacramental life of the church. He lives with us this day in the Church. He gives to us His sacraments, the source of His life! He gives to us the Sacrament of Penance whereby any sin that we commit can be taken away through the priest. He wants us to be so close to Him! He gives us everything to be close to Him. But we see with such limited vision only those things that are right before our face, when the true reality is that which we don't see with our eyes, the reality of the invisible divinity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in the consecrated Host! This is reality! This is our life! This is our power! This is God! And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!  

Jesus Is Taken Down from the Cross

If we ever doubted for one second that we were loved, we could visualize the picture of Mary as she sat beneath the cross with the lifeless, battered, bruised and bloodied body of her Son in her arms, the same child that she held when Simeon prophesied her suffering. He gave His last breath. He gave the last beat of His Heart. He gave His all! This is the way He complied with the Will of the Father. He came to show us the way. He died in perfect peace. To His death He was in peace because He knew the Father's love. The Father loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son for love of us! The Spirit descended upon the Virgin Mary and the Word was made flesh! The love of the Two Hearts! Such immense love beating for us!

In all love there is suffering. Her Heart was pierced with a sword. His Heart was pierced with a lance. And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary! 

Jesus Is Locked in the Tomb

And now Jesus, His body lifeless, is locked in a tomb! What cold reality for Mary to realize that His body is now gone! A stone separated her from her Son!

He gave His last breath! He gave the last beat of His Heart for love of each one of us! And she comes to us this day with her sweet, beautiful voice and she asks us to go to her Son and love Him! How can we refuse Jesus who spread His arms and gave His life for each and every one of us? How can we not trust Him when He loved us so much that He allowed them to tear His flesh, to crown Him with piercing thorns and, lastly, to hang Him on a cross? He truly gave His life for us! He, truly God, is with us this day, the same as the day He died on the cross, in the tabernacle! And we take it so lightly! Death has no power over Him! Locked in the tomb for three days, He rose triumphant on the third day as He had foretold. He comes to give us life. He gives us the sacrament of Baptism that initiates us into His life, that makes us children of God and heirs of heaven if we remain in the state of grace. He asks two things: love of God and love of one another! He came to show us the way and His way is love. To His death on the cross He loved each one of us! He calls out to each one of us here today to be His soldiers, to march on a world that has forgotten God, that has forgotten what it is like to love! It is a battle to live in this world. But the battle is won with hearts that are filled with His love, empowered by the grace and might that He pours out in the Eucharist. He calls out for us to come to the Eucharist and to the tabernacle and be fed with His very flesh and blood. To feed on Divine Life, the greatest nourishment, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God! This is the love He gives. This is the love He asks us to share.

Finding in the Temple

                    l.  Luke 2: 41-47

Every year his parents used to go to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up for the feast as usual. When the days of the feast were over and they set off home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem without his parents knowing it. They assumed he was somewhere in the party, and it was only after a day’s journey that they went to look for him among their relations and acquaintances. When they failed to find him they went back to Jerusalem looking for him everywhere. 

    It happened that, three days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions; and all those who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies. 

                    2. Luke 2: 48-52

They were overcome when they saw him, and his mother said to him, ‘My child, why have you done this to us? See how worried your father and I have been, looking for you.’ He replied, ‘Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?’ But they did not understand what he meant.

He went down with them then and came to Nazareth and lived under their authority. His mother stored up all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God and with people.

A message for the Earth from Jesus
January 22, 1998

    I am the Good Shepherd, these are My prayers, the prayers I give to help renew the Church and the world, all prayer chapters are asked to include these prayers (found in the Shepherds of Christ Prayer Manual). As My Apostles and Shepherds I ask you to encourage all existing Chapters to try to encourage all existing prayer groups to pray the Shepherds of Christ prayers. Encourage all Churches to pray these prayers. It is most urgent that the people of this earth concur with the Father's wishes to begin Prayer Chapters. This is an urgent request from the Good Shepherd. The flock will become one when they have given their hearts to Jesus and Mary. Encourage all priests to pray the Shepherds of Christ prayers. Your world will be lighted with great light as the people of this earth pray these prayers.

    My promise is this to you My beloved earth: When you give your heart to Me and spread the devotion to My Sacred Heart, I will write your name In My Heart. I promise to give the greatest graces when you pray these prayers for renewal of the Church and the world and take all who pray them deeply into My Heart. The prayers I give will bring about the reign of My Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. I am Jesus Christ, this is My message of January 22, 1998, Please circulate this message to your world. I am the Good Shepherd, I know Mine and Mine know Me and they follow Me. Grace My Shepherds, I will give you the greatest graces for spreading these words to this earth and to your Church. I love you, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, it is the Plan of the Father that Prayer Chapters are begun immediately and the Priestly Newsletter is given to all priests. The Voice of the Good Shepherd speaks through it.
