1 Peter 3: 20-21
They refused to believe long ago, while God patiently waited to receive them, in Noahs time when the ark was being built. In it only a few, that is eight souls, were saved through water. It is the baptism corresponding to this water which saves you nownot the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
R. In the Baptism of Jesus
the Holy Spirit comes down on Jesus
above Him
At the end of 40 days Noah sent out a raven and
it flies back and forth until the waters dried off from
the earth Baptism washes away our sin
Noah sends out a dove
reminding us of the Holy Spirit
The heart is called evil
from the start
Genesis 8: 21
Yahweh smelt the pleasing smell and said to himself, Never again will I curse the earth because of human beings, because their heart contrives evil from their infancy. Never again will I strike down every living thing as I have done.
R. Original sin comes from the sin of Adam and Eve
The heart is what makes the blood
pump in our body
We are tainted
We are tempted
We sin
We give into old wounds
We give into old unhealed wounds
We are to serve God with pure hearts
We have a choice to choose to be good or
to give into the evil tendencies
of our wounded human
nature. Baptism takes away original sin,
but we have tainted hearts with tendencies toward evil
the 7 deadly sins
pride, greed, envy, wrath, lust,
gluttony,
sloth
In the Heart of Jesus is love
His Heart is pure
We live to be like the Heart of Jesus
Song: Give Me Your Heart Oh Jesus
Song: In My Heart
Readings Today
Genesis 8: 6-13, 20-22
At the end of forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and released a raven, which flew back and forth as it waited for the waters to dry up on earth. He then released a dove, to see whether the waters were receding from the surface of the earth. But the dove, finding nowhere to perch, returned to him in the ark, for there was water over the whole surface of the earth; putting out his hand he took hold of it and brought it back into the ark with him. After waiting seven more days, he again released the dove from the ark. In the evening, the dove came back to him and there in its beak was a freshlypicked olive leaf! So Noah realised that the waters were receding from the earth. After waiting seven more days, he released the dove, and now it returned to him no more.
It was in the six hundred and first year of Noahs life, in the first month and on the first of the month, that the waters began drying out on earth. Noah lifted back the hatch of the ark and looked out. The surface of the ground was dry! In the second month, on the twentyseventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
Then Noah built an altar to Yahweh and, choosing from all the clean animals and all the clean birds he presented burnt offerings on the altar. Yahweh smelt the pleasing smell and said to himself, Never again will I curse the earth because of human beings, because their heart contrives evil from their infancy. Never again will I strike down every living thing as I have done.
As long as earth endures:
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.
Psalm 116: 12-13, 14-15, 18-19
What return can I make to Yahweh
for his generosity to me?
I shall take up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of Yahweh.I shall fulfill my vows to Yahweh,
witnessed by all his people.Costly in Yahweh's sight
is the death of his faithful.I shall fulfill my vows to Yahweh,
witnessed by all his people,
in the courts of the house of Yahweh,
in your very heart, Jerusalem.
Mark 8: 22-26
They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought to him a blind man whom they begged him to touch. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Then, putting spittle on his eyes and laying his hands on him, he asked, Can you see anything? The man, who was beginning to see, replied, I can see people; they look like trees as they walk around. Then he laid his hands on the mans eyes again and he saw clearly; he was cured, and he could see everything plainly and distinctly. And Jesus sent him home, saying, Do not even go into the village.
R. We heard about the flood waters
God gave the earth a second chance
He was going to destroy the earth
God received Noah's sacrifice and was pleased with it
He said men's hearts were evil from the beginning
He said He wouldn't destroy the earth
He sent His Son to teach us with His own
holiness and wisdom
Mark is the down to earth Gospel
probably oldest Gospel
We have to grow at faith
We have to work at healing
Maybe healing doesn't get done instantly
Keep knocking
Apostles got in the boat arguing about bread
We are like the blind guy we begin to see
but don't see so clearly
We have to have patience
We don't see so clearly right away
Jesus gives us the Bread of Life
God gives to us storms in our lives to
help us to grow in greater holiness
We do not fight the storms or work
in rebellion we surrender when
a storm comes up in the weather
we must deal with it
We can work up such resistance to
things inevitable by what we
do in our thoughts
Do we accept the will of God in our lives
to live in the truth
for we know living in the truth brings
us closer to Jesus
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life
It can become a habit to lie
Satan is the father of lies
Satan wants to deceive
St. Ignatius narrows sin down to 3
power, honor (seeking affections)
and riches
God is ready to embrace us, to love us, to
help us be more and more in His image
and likeness
When we are baptized we receive a sharing
in God's Divine Life If we stay in
the state of grace
the Father, Son and Holy Spirit live in us in a
special way
When we sin we offend God we distance
ourselves from God
living caved in, not being among a
group, before people can lead to one
telling themselves they can do little sins,
little lies and its okay
God wants us pure
We were created in the image and likeness of God
This is in Genesis 1: 27
God created man in the image of himself,
in the image of God he created him,
male and female he created them.
At the end of the Bible Revelation
we here "there will be no more lies"
If our tainted vision tells us we are to be
right then when we sin and offend God
when we are wrong we can act like satan
trying to prove what we did that was wrong
was indeed right this is a lie
When we are wrong, we are wrong, we are
to try to straighten out the wrong
done
Not make ourselves the end and our pride
and ego more important than rectifying
the damage we did to God, others and
ourselves by some wrong decision
So as we are in our hearts will we be in the
world
A contrite heart tells the truth because
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life
When we are trying with all our hearts to know
and love God as we were commanded, we
are ready to admit our sins, our errors
to build God's Kingdom
God and His glory is our focus
Not fear of losing power for ourselves
because we made an error
Not worried about affections for ourselves
so others see us as perfect
Thinking these attitudes of lying is okay,
these attitudes must be changed
When it is God's will a person reports information
to an authority it is the job we are doing
for God Jesus showed us how He died on
the cross doing the Father's will
He sweat blood in the garden seeing
all He would suffer and the souls that
He loved, that would be lost despite His
suffering
He said He was the way, the truth
and the life Jesus taught us when He
the Divine God came and took flesh and
was born in poverty not like an earthly King
Jesus did not come to seek honor for Himself
nor did He worry what people thought
He did not come seeking riches or pride
He came serving Jesus came to teach
us purity obedience to God Jesus
taught us about the purity of His Mother
The gift she was
Jesus came the Bread of Life
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life
Jesus remains with us truly present
in the Eucharist
Jesus wants to dwell in our hearts
hearts full of sin and lies and
unforgiveness are like a street
with parked cars when the
street cleaner comes to clean
the curb
Jesus wants to dwell in our hearts
Jesus gives us the sacrament of baptism
Jesus gives us a sharing in His life
Jesus feeds this life with Himself
When we are full of lies and sin and
we do not have a contrite heart
we cannot be close to Jesus
We need to purify our hearts
We need to not lie
We need to seek God's will
To be willing to admit our faults
to be forgiven
To help repair wrongs we are
responsible for, if we can help
straighten things out that hurt
others and things in our work
in our relationships unless us
doing so would cause more harm
to others
God gave us the waters of baptism
We see the story of Noah of today
The waters of Noah prefigures the
waters of baptism
We see that God cleansed the earth through
the waters of the flood
When man sinned and sinned God
cleaned the earth through the flood at
the time of Noah
Oh God why do we not seek greater purity in
following Your footsteps
Oh God Oh Jesus, most gentle and kind
in heart
We are but Your children
We are to live in Your image and
likeness
Jesus died and rose for us
Why do we not die to those ways that are
not likened to you, that we could
rise in you
Oh, you have blessed us you have given
us the example of our Fathers
You have sent the prophets and
we have sinned
We are chosen, Oh God, for Jesus is
truly present in the Eucharist
this day
We are blessed, Oh Lord
You give us the waters of baptism
to cleanse us
You give us confession
You feed us with yourself
in the Eucharist
Oh God help us to be right in our hearts
not tainted full of sin
help us to walk in the light not follow
the ways of darkness and sin
When one is so richly blessed as we have
been is it not fitting for us to
be overwhelmed with gratitude
for our God
Why have we chosen this hardness of heart
when Your ways are so sweet and
Your Heart soft and supple
We fail to see God and
You will increase our faith if
we ask You
Why do we live in selfishness and jealousies,
seeking pride and envy and greed
false affections
When you call us to love and to
faith and to hope in You
You have promised to us eternal
life if we love and serve You
and do Your will
Why God would one rebel against
a God so very good and loving
Oh God count not our iniquities for
how could we stand
Let us come with a contrite, humble
heart to love and serve You
Oh God what is man that You
care so much for him and yet
God we offend You Oh God
forgive us
Oh please, Oh God, forgive us
Oh God By the waters of the flood
You cleansed the earth
You gave to us the sign of the rainbow
In Clearwater you asked me to pray 4 days
You gave to us a sign of the rainbow
at Clearwater so we would remember
the Covenant you made with Noah
long ago You gave to us Our Lady dressed
in a rainbow to mind us of the
gift of Your love, of Mary the pure
sinless one, the gift of the
incarnation for sinful man and we
broke the image head of the Madonna

R.
and we struggle now monthly to stay
in this building doing as you
asked
making reparation for the sins of
the earth and for our sins
R. Oh God help us now
Let the Scriptures of Noah remind us
of the flood and Your love for man
to save Noah and his family and
the animals from the waters
of the flood
Let us thank God for this reminder
R.
And men come to pray to Clearwater
for reparation for the sins of the
world
To help when they can with prayer
and support to save this special
place God has given to this earth
R.
To serve willingly to help make reparation
to God for the sins of men
Oh hear this call for these daily prayers at 6:20
and these days of prayer the 2nd to the 5th
each month for reparation to
God for our sins
Oh God we are sorry for the
horrible sins of abortion
division
rebellion against God's will
Oh God bless us and
help us in this work to serve You
Amen
God has called us to work together
Look at ones doing a work together
She does this
He does that
Mary does this
Sheila does that
Jim does this
Paul does that
God has us working together to do a
particular work
But
Although we work as a team
We may not necessarily act as
a team
The devil wants people to act isolated
provoke others
work solo
seek power etc.
If a lady wants to put a lid
on a jar she puts it on
hopefully easily
She wouldn't put on a needed lid
for a jar
then try to pry it off at
the same time
Harmony
Order
Working as a unit
being a team
not fighting the team members
with anger and division
Satan wants division to
take out work to spread
love
Satan doesn't want anyone
serving God or
loving God
Satan wants opposition
to the greatest commandment
Fr. Joe said
when the blind man was
first being healed by Jesus
he saw trees he
didn't see clearly at first
So Jesus mixed spittle and he
saw clearly
How can a house divided
against itself
operate as a team
A house divided against
itself will fall
To be as God wants we are
to be one
unite
love
It takes a free will to do
God's will
We can love
or
give into satan
At the time of Noah God
was about to wipe out the whole
earth for man's rebellion and sin
Genesis 6: 5-8
Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing but wicked schemes all day long. Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart. And Yahweh said, I shall rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I createdhuman and animal, the creeping things and the birds of heavenfor I regret having made them. But Noah won Yahwehs favour.
Genesis 7: 1-5, 10
Yahweh said to Noah, "Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of your contemporaries do I see before me as an upright man. Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals you must take one pair, a male and its female (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughout the earth. For in seven days' time I shall make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipe every creature I have made off the face of the earth." Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.
Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth
Deuteronomy 30: 15-20
Look, today I am offering you life and prosperity, death and disaster. If you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, if you love Yahweh your God and follow his ways, if you keep his commandments, his laws and his customs, you will live and grow numerous, and Yahweh your God will bless you in the country which you are about to enter and make your own. But if your heart turns away, if you refuse to listen, if you let yourself be drawn into worshipping other gods and serving them, I tell you today, you will most certainly perish; you will not live for long in the country which you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. Today, I call heaven and earth to witness against you: I am offering you life or death, blessing or curse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live, in the love of Yahweh your God, obeying his voice, holding fast to him; for in this your life consists, and on this depends the length of time that you stay in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that he would give them.
