Sin and unhappiness

"Deliberate malice in the will makes
a sin more evil ...
The cold-blooded traitor sins more
than the soldier who betrays
his comrades under torture.
The damage done by a sinful act will
also affect the seriousness of
a sin...
A sinful act is a human act.
As a human act it is a voluntary
act.
Sin comes then chiefly from the
will of man.
But it can be found also in human
reason and the sense appetite
in so far as these human
powers are inclined to be
moved by the will to actions
in the pursuit of good or evil.
Sin therefore is a disease of man as
man. This is a frightening thing
about sin.
It is like a cancerous growth
in the human personality
precisely where it is most human.
It eats away gradually a man's control
over his own human actions
in the pursuit of happiness.
A cancerous growth in the body may
begin in a less important part
of the body. But it will grow
until it prevents the working
of a vital organ such as the
lungs, or brain or digestive
system and so lead to the
death of the body.
Sin is a cancerous growth in the
soul of a man. If allowed
to grow it will ultimately
prevent man from attaining
happiness. And the failure
to attain happiness is the death
of man as man."

In the fight against sin, you have not yet had to keep fighting to the point of bloodshed.
Have you forgotten that encouraging text in which you are addressed as sons?
My son, do not scorn correction
from the Lord,
do not resent his training,
for the Lord trains those he loves,
and chastises every son he accepts.Perseverance is part of your training; God is treating you as his sons. Has there ever been any son whose father did not train him?
Of course, any discipline is at the time a matter for grief, not joy; but later, in those who have undergone it, it bears fruit in peace and uprightness. So steady all weary hands and trembling knees and make your crooked paths straight; then the injured limb will not be maimed, it will get better instead. Seek peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one can ever see the Lord. Be careful that no one is deprived of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness should begin to grow and make trouble; this can poison a large number.
Mark 6: 1-6
Leaving that district, he went to his home town, and his disciples accompanied him. With the coming of the Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and most of them were astonished when they heard him. They said, 'Where did the man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been granted him, and these miracles that are worked through him? This is the carpenter, surely, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joset and Jude and Simon? His sisters, too, are they not here with us?' And they would not accept him. And Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is despised only in his own country, among his own relations and in his own house'; and he could work no miracle there, except that he cured a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. He made a tour round the villages, teaching.
They said they knew Jesus' Mother and
His kinsfolk — they were familiar
to them. They said is He
not a carpenter —
Where did Jesus get all this wisdom
They wanted to put Jesus in a BOX
They didn't have faith —
It says in the scripture
that Jesus was amazed
at their lack of faith
When we look at Sunday's Gospel
Mark 1: 29-39
And at once on leaving the synagogue, he went with James and John straight to the house of Simon and Andrew. Now Simon's mother-in-law was in bed and feverish, and at once they told him about her. He went in to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. And the fever left her and she began to serve them.
That evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed by devils. The whole town came crowding round the door, and he cured many who were sick with diseases of one kind or another; he also drove out many devils, but he would not allow them to speak, because they knew who he was.
In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place and prayed there. Simon and his companions set out in search of him, and when they found him they said, 'Everybody is looking for you.' He answered, 'Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns, so that I can proclaim the message there too, because that is why I came.' And he went all through Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out devils.
We see Jesus healing the sick
We see Jesus casting out demons
Jesus:

‘And this’, God said, ‘is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and every living creature with you for all ages to come: I now set my bow in the clouds and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I shall recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word all living things, and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all living things.

Father's will —

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul
Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.
