The Baptism of Jesus

1. Mark 1: 9-11

It was at this time that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John. And at once, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, like a dove, descending on him. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.’

2. God the Father said
    “… this is My beloved Son…”
    Such love for Jesus!!!
3. This began Jesus’ public life.
4. Jesus lived the private life for
    30 years.
5. God the Father reveals His Son.
6. In the Epiphany we see the Father
    showed His endorsement of His
    Son by the Star that led the Magi.
7. John’s baptism was a baptism of
    repentance.
8. The Holy Spirit was seen over
    Jesus’ head.
9. God the Father and the Holy
    Spirit put their approval on Jesus.
10. In the sacrament of Baptism, we
    receive a sharing in His life.

 

The Marriage at Cana

1. John 2: 1-10  

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited. And they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had all been used, and the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ Jesus said, ‘Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’  There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among the Jews: each could hold twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water,’ and they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them, ‘Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.’ They did this; the president tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew—the president of the feast called the bridegroom and said, ‘Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are well wined; but you have kept the best wine till now.’ 

2. Jesus worked His first miracle
    at the wedding of Cana.
3. Jesus said at Cana “Woman how
    does your concern affect me?”
4. At the foot of the cross
    Jesus said “Woman, behold your
    son.” (Jn 19:26).
5. Mary is the New Eve.
6. Mary is our spiritual Mother.
7. We see at Cana that Mary has
    powerful intercession.
8. In the vision of Lucia we see Mary
    stand by the altar.

9. At Cana Jesus changed water into
    wine.
10. In the Mass, bread and wine is
    changed into the body and blood
    of Jesus.
    The Mass is the sacrifice of Calvary,
    sacramentally made present.

 

The Kingdom of God

1. Matthew 5: 3-12

How blessed are the poor in spirit:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are the gentle:
they shall have the earth as inheritance.
Blessed are those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those
   who hunger and thirst for uprightness:
they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
they shall be recognised
   as children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
   in the cause of uprightness:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Blessed are you when people abuse you and persecute you and
speak all kinds of calumny against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven; this
is how they persecuted the prophets before you.

2. Jesus is the King of heaven and earth.
3. Mary is the Queen of Heaven and
    Earth.
4. We can consecrate our homes,
    businesses, families and ourselves
    to Jesus, the Sacred Heart, King of
    our hearts.
5. We help build the Kingdom of God
    by how we answer God’s call in our
    vocation and say “yes” to spreading
    the Good News.
6. How can we ignore the King and
    Queen of the Earth?
7. How can we ignore the King and
    Queen of Heaven?

8. Galatians 3:15

To put it in human terms, my brothers: even when a will is only a human one, once it has been ratified nobody can cancel it or add more provisions to it.

9. We need to think of our witnessing
    to others and our families.
10. In a family how we live our faith
    is passed on to our children, they
    pass to their children and on and on.
    We can help build the Kingdom of
    God by spreading the prayers Jesus
    gave Fr. Carter to pray for the priests,
    the Church and the world.

    Christ is our King!!!!

 

The Transfiguration

1. Mark 9: 2-8

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain on their own by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured: his clothes became brilliantly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them. Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus. Then Peter spoke to Jesus, ‘Rabbi,’ he said, ‘it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ He did not know what to say; they were so frightened. And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him.’ Then suddenly, when they looked round, they saw no one with them any more but only Jesus.

2. 2 Peter 1:16-19

When we told you about the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not slavishly repeating cleverly invented myths; no, we had seen his majesty with our own eyes. He was honoured and glorified by God the Father, when a voice came to him from the transcendent Glory, This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. We ourselves heard this voice from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain. So we have confirmation of the words of the prophets; and you will be right to pay attention to it as to a lamp for lighting a way through the dark, until the dawn comes and the morning star rises in your minds.

    Mt. Tabor and seeing Jesus
    transfigured and the vision with
    Moses and Elijah.

    “This is my beloved Son in whom
    I am well pleased, listen to Him.”

    ... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.

    The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.

    At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.

R. Do you feel the presence of the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

The Father, has a plan for us.
God wants this relationship with us.
We are here to grow in our intimacy
with God.
In this Lent we can spend time
alone with God and think of the
presence of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit in our heart.

Jesus: Be alone with Me, close
your eyes, think of the presence of
God, All three Persons, dwelling in
your heart.

Meditate, empty your mind, think
only of the presence of God. Make
a spiritual communion, now.

Take time, be alone with Me.

Everyday during Lent, morning and
night, empty your mind, make a
spiritual communion, think of God’s
presence with you, close your eyes,
be alone with Me.

This will help you to grow in God’s
presence all day, the more you do
this, all thru Lent.

I went into the desert to pray for
40 days and be with My Father,
practice this every day during Lent.
Being alone with God. Knowing
My presence!!!!

 

The Institution of the Eucharist

1. Luke 22: 14-20

When the time came he took his place at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, ‘I have ardently longed to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; because, I tell you, I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.’ Then, taking a cup, he gave thanks and said, ‘Take this and share it among you, because from now on, I tell you, I shall never again drink wine until the kingdom of God comes.’

Then he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ He did the same with the cup after supper, and said, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood poured out for you.

2. Let us envision ourselves at the
    Last Supper.
3. See the beautiful face of Jesus,
    the candle light, be there, hear
    the conversation.
4. Hear the words of Jesus. It is
    awesome.
5. The Mass is the sacrifice of
    Calvary, sacramentally made
    present.
6. Jesus gives us Himself, truly
    present in the Eucharist, daily.
    We don’t even understand the
    true gift in this.
    We take it so lightly.
    Can you ever know what it
    would be like to not be able to
    go to the Eucharist daily?
7. It makes me cry, to take such
    a gift for granted.
    A gift it is beyond all price.
    I know that gift of the Mass
    when I am there in my soul.
    God gives me the grace to know
    the presence of God, to hear the
    Word, to be together with the
    priest, to be united to Father,
    Son and Holy Spirit
    and to receive Him.

    It's presence in my soul, it's gift,
    it's love of God.
8. We are so richly blessed by God
    here below, the Mass is a precious
    gift. The priest is a precious gift.

    Thank God, love Him tenderly,
    gratefully, love gives, love goes
    out, love is outpoured to us in
    the Mass.
9. Oh God You are so good to us.
    I long for the Mass and the
    Eucharist.

    Without the priest, we wouldn’t
    have the Eucharist!

    We say our Morning Offering
    thanking God and praying for the
    priest, the Church and the world.
10. To see with eyes unveiled.
    Thank You God!
    Thank You God!
    Thank You God!!

    The Mass is such a gift.
    I receive Jesus truly present in the
    Eucharist.

    Praise Him, thank Him, love
    Him, give yourself to Him, who
    gives us so much.

    Love with Jesus is Personal love.
    The Eucharist fills me!
    Pure gift.
