John 9: 1-40
As he went along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. His disciples asked him, ‘Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should have been born blind?’ ‘Neither he nor his parents sinned,’ Jesus answered, ‘he was born blind so that the works of God might be revealed in him.
'As long as day lasts
we must carry out the work of the one
who sent me;
the night will soon be here
when no one can work.
As long as I am in the world
I am the light of the world.’Having said this, he spat on the ground, made a paste with the spittle, put this over the eyes of the blind man, and said to him, ‘Go and wash in the Pool of Siloam’ (the name means ‘one who has been sent’). So he went off and washed and came back able to see.
His neighbours and the people who used to see him before (for he was a beggar) said, ‘Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?’ Some said, ‘Yes, it is the same one.' Others said, 'No, but he looks just like him.’ The man himself said, ‘Yes, I am the one.’ So they said to him, ‘Then how is it that your eyes were opened?' He answered, ‘The man called Jesus made a paste, daubed my eyes with it and said to me, "Go off and wash at Siloam"; so I went, and when I washed I gained my sight.’ They asked, ‘Where is he?’ He answered, ‘I don’t know.’
They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. It had been a Sabbath day when Jesus made the paste and opened the man’s eyes, so when the Pharisees asked him how he had gained his sight, he said, ‘He put a paste on my eyes, and I washed, and I can see. Then some of the Pharisees said, ‘That man cannot be from God: he does not keep the Sabbath.’ Others said, ‘How can a sinner produce signs like this? And there was division among them. So they spoke to the blind man again, 'What have you to say about him yourself, now that he has opened your eyes?’ The man answered, ‘He is a prophet.’
However, the Jews would not believe that the man had been blind without first sending for the parents of the man who had gained his sight and asking them, ‘Is this man really the son of yours who you say was born blind? If so, how is it that he is now able to see?’ His parents answered, ‘We know he is our son and we know he was born blind, but how he can see, we don’t know, nor who opened his eyes.
Ask him. He is old enough: let him speak for himself.’ His parents spoke like this out of fear of the Jews, who had already agreed to ban from the synagogue anyone who should acknowledge Jesus as the Christ. This was why his parents said, ‘He is old enough; ask him.'
So the Jews sent for the man again and said to him, ‘Give glory to God! We are satisfied that this man is a sinner.’ The man answered, ‘Whether he is a sinner I don’t know; all I know is that I was blind and now I can see.’ They said to him, ‘What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?’ He replied, ‘I have told you once and you wouldn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it all again? Do you want to become his disciples yourselves?’ At this they hurled abuse at him, ‘It is you who are his disciple, we are disciples of Moses; we know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this man, we don’t know where he comes from.’ The man replied, ‘That is just what is so amazing! You don’t know where he comes from and he has opened my eyes! We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but God dos listen to people who are devout and do his will. Ever since the world began it is unheard of for anyone to open the eyes of someone born blind; if this man were not from God, he wouldn’t have been able to do anything.’ They retorted, ‘Are you trying to teach us, and you a sinner through and through ever since you were born!' And they ejected him.
Jesus heard they had ejected him, and when he found him he said to him, ‘Do you believe in the Son of man?’ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘tell me who he is so that I may believe in him.’ Jesus said, ‘You have seen him; he is speaking to you.’ The man said, ‘Lord, I believe,’ and worshipped him.
Jesus said:It is for judgement
that I have come into this world,
so that those without sight may see
and those with sight may become blind.Hearing this, some Pharisees who were present said to him, ‘So we are blind, are we?’ Jesus replied:
If you were blind,
you would not be guilty,
but since you say, ‘We can see,’
your guilt remains.
I love the scripture the blind man of
John because what follows is the
Good Shepherd.
It is by God's grace we see things. I watch
people attend the retreat in China and
their hearts are changed and their vision
is more of the Father's vision.
I have had people tell me they wouldn't
open up their Blue Books somebody gave
them and several years later they did
and their lives were changed.
What is the vision of God the Father?
What is the vision of the world?
What forms our spiritual vision?
Why at one moment someone is closed
and the next moment we see them
opened and absorbing more and
more the great gifts the Church
gives.
Our prayers can help to transform closed
hearts, hard hearts to hearts soft
and supple and open.
Jesus gave us the Priestly Newsletter to
encourage and love our priests.
Jesus gave us the prayer chapters to pray
for our priests, the Church and
the world.
At five years old - my mom died - I soon
learned she had gone to heaven and
she would never die and further
that God was in heaven and He loved
me so much and He lived in my
graced soul — Father, Son and Holy Spirit and
He would never leave me.
To a little five year old I was searching for
answers when the biggest love of my
life died and my dad withdrew,
but he started making us go to church
and praying and I went to Benediction
twice a week and I went to daily
Mass and
we prayed at home — the rosary and
the St. Joseph prayers (7 sorrows and 7 joys)
and we prayed the Holy Spirit prayers.
My dad got somewhat stronger and he
walked around our yard and up
the street to church and he prayed
three rosaries a day.
My dad was not perfect, but he taught
me about heaven and the Church
by his example when mom died — his
example when he was devastated by the
loss of his wife and having 5 children
was one of great fear, withdrawal
but he taught us by his example to
turn to prayer.
He taught me my mom wasn't dead,
but Jesus loved her so much He took
her home — he taught me my mom was
so very special to Jesus.
When I went to the altar like the little bride
of Jesus at First Communion I was
totally focused on Jesus. This was almost
two years after my mom died and I
knew I had to count on Jesus when
others were with their moms and dads
my dad was still real nervous and
didn't go and my mom was dead, but
my step-mom went.
I remember I had that little white dress
and it was really simple — other dresses
were fancy, mine was that white kind of
thin with tiny fuzzy dots and my veil was
really simple too, but later when I
grew to know Jesus and Mary after so many
ecstasies I would cry to think of how
awesome it was that I had gone to the
Eucharist every day as a child and never
knew Jesus as I did now.
The reality of how God is truly present —
seeing Him sometimes and His arms
outstretched His Sacred Heart as
I received Him and I would be in
such a deep presence with Him
I could hardly walk back to the pew.
I remember in 1993 taking my step-mom and
uncle communion and I got this prayer
to read to them when I went
and I would read it when I gave them
communion.
A Prayer for Holy Communion
R. As I give more and more of what I am attached to away, nobody can have a hold on me. I become, more and more, the little dependent baby in His arms. I depend on Him for everything. It is hard to let go of this to be as a little baby, dependent on Him for everything.
If, when I receive Jesus, I receive God, then so, in some form, I receive the Father and Holy Spirit because how do you separate them?
And the doors to the tabernacle open wide and in it we behold Jesus, Son of God, God-made-man. His presence is to be honored, His name worshiped and adored. His glory is forever.
Jesus: I come as a little baby into your midst. I died out of love of you. I come to you today in Holy Communion. This is God-made-man, Son of God, coming in your hearts to dwell with you. Do not focus on your unworthiness. Focus on His love, just for you, to come to you today. I love you so much and God is truly in your mouth. Be close to Me. Let go of yourself. Enter into total union with Me, soul to soul. Be united with Me totally in your spirit. Forget all the cares of this world and let Me dwell in you and work in your heart. Let Me heal your weary soul.
Open wide your gates and I enter in and you remain changed, never the same because Jesus Christ, Son of God, came to you and dwelt in your soul. You are My temple.
My uncle donated money for me to print
the Blue Books and that really helped
getting them out.
I saw a peace over my uncle, my
real mom who died's brother, he was so
in love with the Eucharist and he
soon went to his death 95 in such
peace.
I never understood how my real mom's mom
(grandma) lived until 95 and my real mom's
brother (my uncle) also lived to 95, but my
real mom died at 48 when I was just 5, but
my dad said - she was so special Jesus
wanted her.
Our moms play a big part in our lives —
they can really love us and share a great
union with us before we are born.
They know us so deeply before our
birth.
I love the 4th Blue Book so much
because it tells about Jesus' love
for Mary and Mary's love for Jesus —
isn't that a big message of the
rosary and in knowing Jesus'
love for Mary - a human person without
sin we see how
Mary our spiritual Mother loves us
And we see how deeply Jesus can love us —
the Divine God loves us human
beings, creatures, of this tainted
human race.
To those who were blind they now
can see —
We can be given a grace and see where
we never saw before —
Realizing the importance of Mary as
spiritual Mother of all of us can
help us to live a more holy life.
Mary is full of grace
how can we be filled more and more with
His life and not be more and
more a child of light
I see God loves us so much and yet
I cannot see the beauty of my
own graced soul.
In reaching to make sense of so many
things I see what God wants of
me is living to love - more and
more likened to Jesus and
this time teaches us that peace lies
in this
living according to God's will in love.
Accepting things as God has given them
to us in joy and thanksgiving.
Being focused on the love of the people
we are serving.
To do a work of ministering for what
we get out of it — is having
the wrong focus.
Being an apostle is serving in love
as God intends us to do.
We are not here to expect perfection
of those God has asked us to
teach or
perfection of those God has
asked us to work with.
We have been given what we need now
to help us in our present life —
God is always teaching us more and
raising the bar for greater holiness.
Long ago Fr. Carter had said Mass in China
and there were different people
problems and I was on the
altar before Mass putting things out
for Mass and I sat down and
asked Fr. Carter are these
problems ever going to end —
I heard Jesus loud and clear say
"Rita, you will always have
problems"
We are blind to think our problems
will end —
There is death and resurrection
Dear God please help to see more
clearly the vision of the Father.
Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. * Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
