                Mary: I stood beneath the cross of my Son, Jesus.
                Today there is so much confusion in the world. Families
                that pray the Shepherds of Christ Prayers as a family and

                R. Dear Jesus,

                    Please help us in the ordinary days to do Your
                holy will in all things - to love You and serve You
                as You desire of us.

                Jesus: Trust in Me for I am gentle and kind in Heart,
                I am the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

                    It is love that I want. Are you operating deeply
                in love in your heart?

                    It is love that makes you more and more likened
                to Me.

                    Focus on the other. Know your strength is
                in Me.

                    Relationship – I want relationship – Stay one in Me –
                Be united in love with God and with others.

                    Love is an act of the will.

                    You will to love, to act lovingly.

                    To take the time to give meaningful conversation
                where it is God's will.

                    You are truthful in your heart, in conversation.
                Satan tempts some and they are in the habit of
                holding out in conversation to have power-over
                the other.

                    How foolish it is to conceal needed information
                for My honor and glory to make yourself
                supreme over another – where communication
                is needed, is God's will, effort given is necessary,
                satan can tempt a person to hold back needed
                information to play a game of power with the
                person needing the information.

                    Satan wants you selfish, to see yourself
                and to act to make yourself confusing, powerful,
                secretive, vague – where clarity is needed to do
                My work – the person can give into satan because
                of their foolish pride to actually block what I
                want done.

                    I want you to serve Me as I desire. To see
                God's will first, not your selfish pleasure and
                power. Only God is all - powerful. Satan
                wants you to bow to him - to make others bow to you.

   

Matthew 4: 1-11

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit out into the desert to be put to the test by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, after which he was hungry, and the tester came and said to him, ‘If you are Son of God, tell these stones to turn into loaves.’ But he replied, ‘Scripture says: 

    Human beings live not on bread alone 
    but on every word 
        that comes from the mouth of God.’ 

The devil then took him to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple. ‘If you are Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down; for scripture says: 

    He has given his angels orders about you, 
    and they will carry you in their arms 
    in case you trip over a stone.’ 

Jesus said to him, ‘Scripture also says: 

    Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ 

Next, taking him to a very high mountain, the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. And he said to him, ‘I will give you all these, if you fall at my feet and do me homage.’ Then Jesus replied, ‘Away with you, Satan! For scripture says: 

    The Lord your God is the one 
        to whom you must do homage, 
    him alone you must serve.’ 

Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels appeared and looked after him.

   

                Jesus: And I opened a door to you and the wise
                man was ready and walked right through –
                In unity with Me, they operated and did the work
                the Heavenly Father created them to do.

                    Or I opened a door to the obstinate man,
                and he opposed God's will, he held onto selfish
                pride and played a power game with God, instead
                of being in one mind and one heart in harmony –
                he prided himself of holding out and making
                his own plan to manipulate for power - over
                others.

                    Satan is a trickster. You were created to build the
                Kingdom of God. To work in love with others for the purpose
                of building the Kingdom of God, but satan tempts a foolish
                man, with power - over others they are to serve –
                seeking dominance for dominance sake and the
                person serves their own vain glory as their master –
                they can give their power to satan.

                    You were created to serve God. To seek to
                be in one mind and one heart in love, to serve
                God and to be harmonious with those I called
                you to work with for My honor and glory.

                    A person can develop good habits or virtues,
                bad habits or vices.

                    Loving God and loving others - seeing through
                more and more clear and pure vision as God intends
                you to see, to serve God for the purpose of building
                My Kingdom.

                    Or seeing through the eyes of selfishness –
                glorifying yourself – seeking power over –
                like satan tempts the person to do. It can be
                a habit – where you live to put yourself
                above everybody and your decisions are based
                on independence of yourself, seeking places
                of dominance where God put you under
                others.

                    Do you want harmony according to God's
                will, living and seeing through the eyes of
                God, living to do God's will, living in love,
                living in greater unity with God and all
                others as God desires?

                    Or do you seek the distorted vision of
                serving satan? Remember Eve, she wanted
                to be equal to God. Her decision was to
                disobey God.

   

The Ten Commandments

  1. I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have other gods besides me.
  2. You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain.
  3. Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.
  4. Honor your father and your mother.
  5. You shall not kill.
  6. You shall not commit adultery.
  7. You shall not steal.
  8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
  10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

   

                Jesus: Are these the laws you live by? Is your
                focus living in relationship with God and
                others? Are you servants of God or do you
                serve satan – manipulate events so you
                can be independent of others and of God,
                and pride yourself on your power - over
                those you were called to love and
                give service to?

                You were created to know, love and serve God
                and to love your neighbor as yourself.
                The selfish man sees only himself –
                he is always trying to justify himself
                before men because
                STRENGTH comes from within a
                    man – rooted in God –
                    obedient to God's Plan –

                Jesus: Love is a decision – You were put here on
                this journey to choose God's Plan in loving
                God and others.

 

Matthew 22: 36-40

'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'

 

                Jesus: Love takes trusting others you need to
                trust to have relationships.

                    Satan can tempt a person to never trust
                anyone, but themselves, and in that distorted
                vision, they are opposing God's will and
                serving satan, being disharmonious and
                not trusting God.

                    I am kind and gentle in heart.

Psalm 33: 11, 19

"The thoughts of his heart lost through every
generation, that he will rescue them from
death and feed them in time of famine."

 

                Jesus: Life is for living. That takes dumping
                the waste that is not God's will for you,
                bad habits, pride, old anger, jealousies,
                bad, bad habits - envy.

                    The clock is ringing the hour – today
                is the day of the Lord, you were called
                to know, love and serve God. Is your life
                rooted in God, Living as the minutes
                tick to serve God as He deserves in
                love –

                    to seek the Father's will –

                    or are you caved in – focused on fear –
                getting independent of love so you can
                "be safe". Safe for satan means you
                serve him – focus on yourself – your
                independence from God –

                    You see, not through the eyes of
                God's will, but you see yourself independent
                of God, over others, having secrets –

                Hell is a place of total isolation from God.
                Hell is a place where there is no love –
                Hell is a place for all eternity where
                    there is no relationship.

                I want you to be one with God – here on
                    earth – to live to bring unity with
                    others – working in love, harmony
                    in relationships and doing God's will –

                Satan wants you to seek independence
                from others, don't trust God or
                others, live in fear –

                Love isn't love until you give it away –
                Love sees through eyes of Love –
                Love is not selfish and self-promoting

   

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13  

Though I command languages both human and angelic—if I speak without love, I am no more than a gong booming or a cymbal clashing. And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all the faith necessary to move mountains—if I am without love, I am nothing. Though I should give away to the poor all that I possess, and even give up my body to be burned—if I am without love, it will do me no good whatever. 

    Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth. It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes. 

    Love never comes to an end. But if there are prophecies, they will be done away with; if tongues, they will fall silent; and if knowledge, it will be done away with. For we know only imperfectly, and we prophesy imperfectly; but once perfection comes, all imperfect things will be done away with. When I was a child, I used to talk like a child, and see things as a child does, and think like a child; but now that I have become an adult, I have finished with all childish ways. Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shall be seeing face to face. Now I can know only imperfectly; but then I shall know just as fully as I am myself known. 

    As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.

   

                Jesus: God is to be loved and worshipped and
                    your higher power –

                You are to live united as members
                    of the Father's family in love
                    building the Kingdom of God.

                Living in God's will in love brings
                    you to happiness – unity, harmony,
                    order!

                Being truthful –

                Seeking to know yourself and seeking
                    to change to be more and more
                    likened to Me.

                I am the Son of God –

                You are to be more and more the son of
                    My Heavenly Father –

 

Matthew 17: 5

He was still speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from the cloud there came a voice which said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.’

 

                Jesus: Wanting to mend relationships where you have
                    hurt others. Being humble and living
                    to make amends where it was
                    needed to have ruptured relationships
                    restored to love on your part.
                    Being a person of prayer –
                    Praying for your enemies!

                You should examine your conscience
                    twice daily to see how you have
                    deviated from the Father's will –
                    to see how you are living in accord with
                        the Father's will and
                    making amends where needed and
                        proceeding in love –

                Seek peace and love in the Father's will –

                Seek through prayer and meditation to draw
                    closer to God and to know God's will
                    for you –

                Seek unity – trust others you need
                    to trust and trust God most of
                    all –

                Carry this message to others –

                This is what you are to do in life –
                    be people who love –
                    pray for your brothers –
                    want unity –
                    give to others with a pure heart of love –
                        not to get yourself selfishly
                        ahead –

                Give and it will be given unto you –

 

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

 THE TWELVE STEPS OF AA 

                Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:

                    1.  We admitted we were powerless over alcohol,
                            that our lives had become unmanageable.

                    2.  Came to believe that a Power greater than
                            ourselves could restore us to sanity.

                    3.  Made a decision to turn our will and our lives
                            over to the care of God as we understood Him.

                    4.  Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

                    5.  Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human
                            being the exact nature of our wrongs.

                    6.  Were entirely ready to have God remove all
                            these defects of character.

                    7.  Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

                    8.  Made a list of all persons we had harmed,
                            and became willing to make amends to them all.

                    9.  Made direct amends to such people wherever possible,
                            except when to do so would injure them or others.

                    10.  Continued to take personal inventory and when we
                            were wrong promptly admitted it.

                    11.  Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our
                            conscious contact with God as we understood Him,
                            praying only for knowledge of His will for us and
                            the power to carry that out.

                    12.  Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,
                            we tried to carry this message to alcoholics,
                            and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

 

                Jesus: You can only live in the Present Moment.

 

From a Lenten Homily, March 24, 2000

Live in the Moment

    Today’s Gospel in its story certainly points ahead to Jesus in His Passion and death. And as we read passages such as this during the Lenten season, we are reminded once again that the Church in her Liturgy of the Word gives us an opportunity to undergo a purification, an ever deepening cleansing of ourselves so that we may be a more fit instrument for receiving the great graces which are to be given to us at the time of the Resurrection memorial on Easter. And so all in all, Lent is a time of purification to prepare us for ever-greater gifts of the Lord. It’s a time of self-discipline, a time to renew our efforts to be self-disciplined in the service of the Lord. Self-discipline is an aspect of purification. And I suggest that one of the most difficult acts of self-discipline in the spiritual journey is to concentrate on the present moment. We have a very strong tendency to disregard the importance of the present moment by focusing in a wrong way on the past or in a wrong way on the future. There are proper occasions for thinking of the past and the future. For example, we have to learn from the past and we have to prepare for the future, but our great emphasis has to be upon the present. There is a Latin axiom which says, age quod agis, age quod agis, which means: do what you are doing, concentrate on the present. And of course we are familiar with that term in the history of spirituality: the sacrament of the present moment. And so the discipline of Lent certainly encourages us to include in a deeper self-discipline a greater determination to get as much as we can out of the present moment. People with a terminal illness have an opportunity as they prepare for death for increased prayer, contrition, love of God. However, some are taken very, very quickly. But for those who have the opportunity of knowing with some certainty the time of their death, I’m sure as they look back on their lives, they are saddened by the many times they did not use time and opportunities for the service of the Lord properly, and are overjoyed at those times in which they did use the present opportunity properly. A great means we have of living in the present properly is a greater focus upon our Lord. For if I have that awareness of the fact I am united with Jesus here and now, why should I be concerned so much about the future or the past? Yes, a great help in living in the present and deriving all the good we can from it for ourselves and others is an ever greater focus upon Jesus, because the more I focus upon Jesus and the more I live with Him in the present moment, the more I am satisfied with the present moment. And so let us in our Lenten activity resolve to grow in that self-discipline - which is very difficult at times - to really live in the presence with the fullness of our being as much as is possible, with the help of God’s grace. Now is the day of salvation. Now is the day of salvation.
