                Today's Readings

Isaiah 58: 1-9a

Fasting pleasing to God

Shout for all you are worth,
   do not hold back,
raise your voice like a trumpet.
To my people
   proclaim their rebellious acts,
to the House of Jacob, their sins.
They seek for me day after day,
they long to know my ways,
like a nation that has acted uprightly
and not forsaken the law of its God.
They ask me for laws that are upright,
they long to be near God:
'Why have we fasted, if you do not see,
why mortify ourselves if you never notice?’
Look, you seek your own pleasure
   on your fastdays
and you exploit all your workmen;
look, the only purpose of your fasting
   is to quarrel and squabble
and strike viciously with your fist.
Fasting like yours today
will never make your voice heard on high.
Is that the sort of fast that pleases me,
a day when a person
   inflicts pain on himself?
Hanging your head like a reed,
spreading out sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call fasting,
a day acceptable to Yahweh?
Is not this the sort of fast that pleases me:
to break unjust fetters,
to undo the thongs of the yoke.
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break all yokes?
Is it not sharing your food with the hungry,
and sheltering the homeless poor;
if you see someone lacking clothes,
   to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own kin?
Then your light will blaze out
   like the dawn
and your wound be quickly healed over.
Saving justice will go ahead of you
and Yahweh’s glory come behind you.
Then you will cry for help
   and Yahweh will answer;
you will call and he will say, ‘I am here.’
If you do away with the yoke,
the clenched fist and malicious words,

A discussion on fasting

Then John’s disciples came to him and said, ‘Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not?’ Jesus replied, ‘Surely the bridegroom’s attendants cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is still with them? but the time will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

 

 

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

     Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

   

                R. Isaiah cries out that people fast,
                    but it is not sincere
                    it did not come from their heart.
                    What are they trying to prove
                    when they fast and then do their own will –

                In the Gospel Jesus tells us the beatitudes
                    Jesus wants our hearts –
                    Jesus wants us loving Him

                Jesus wants us loving our
                    neighbor –

                If we do a bunch of good
                    and don't have the proper
                    motivation, we do it
                    for ourselves –

                We pray and fast and give
                    alms because
                    God asks us to do it –

                We go to confession –

                Gospel

                The Pharisees say we fast a lot
                    and your disciples don't

                Jesus is the bridegroom
                Jesus came to show how He
                    loves His people –

                God is with us in Spirit –
                God shows us the way to
                    salvation –

                We fast and abstain to
                    be with Him forever
                    in heaven –

                We are to do good things
                    to show love of God
                    and love of neighbor

                    You know, those who are married, how
                        wonderful it is to have a wonderful
                        married partner.
                        Vivian was young and we know God is
                        telling us good-byes are hard,
                        but there will be no more good-byes
                        some day –

                    Fr. Joe says my friend says everything
                        has a beginning, a middle and an
                        end,
                        but life eternal is not like that
                        it never ends –

                    St. Paul calls us to rejoice, this loss is
                        not forever.
                        Vivian's kindness was so sweet. She
                        helped keep the Church clean here –

                In the Gospel –

                    God says Blessed are they who mourn,
                        for you will be comforted –
                        God wants us to have eternal
                        life –
                        God took Vivian to Himself –
                        Life is not a dead-end street,
                        but it leads to eternal
                        happiness.
                        Let us pray for each other.
                        Let us pray we can walk the
                        path Christ has shown us.
                        Lent is for this to draw us
                        closer to God.

Jesus: My dear people,

    Today March 22, 2012, I want you to make available the statues: Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Guadalupe with the glass, so people will honor Mary and pray the prayers as I have requested before the statue praying for the priests, the Church and the world.

    Pray the prayers before the statues with glass for healings and blessings for your family, for your country, for the Church and the world. I promise special graces to those praying these prayers, and graces drawing them closer to My Heart and My Mother's heart. I want all to know My Mother's love as their mother. Put the statues with the glass in your homes and Churches, your schools and places of businesses and pray these prayers given to Fr. Carter, S.J., founder of Shepherds of Christ, in the prayer manual for the priests, the Church and the world. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the Flock.

Fatima/Clearwater Glass Statues

 

                Jesus told me to put the glass from Mary's
                    image face in the statue.

                I gave a statue to a woman and she
                    did not have to have surgery after 3
                    doctors told her she needed her kidney
                    out because of cancer.

                Jesus said we should pray the Shepherds of Christ
                    prayers before the statue
                    and have the statues in the homes,
                    Churches, etc.

                Others have come running to me after
                    they prayed the prayers (Shepherds of
                    Christ Prayer Manual) before
                    the statue and said
                    crying

                    "Oh Rita, since you gave me the statue
                        with the glass and I prayed the
                        prayers —
                        my son has returned to Church —"

                    Another woman said, "My husband
                        who was in need of prayer is
                        building a grotto for the statue,
                        and he has changed."

                Give these statues for Christmas
                    We will have 10" statues before Christmas.
                    We will have 12" statues before Christmas.
                    We have 18" statues now — home
                        made, hand painted and the
                        crown is handmade —
