R.
Do you feel the presence of the
Father, Son
and Holy Spirit?
The Father, has a plan for us.
God wants
this relationship with us.
We are here to
grow in our intimacy
with God.
In this Lent we can spend time
alone with God and think of the
presence
of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit in our heart.
Jesus:
Be alone with Me, close
your eyes, think of the presence of
God,
All three Persons, dwelling in
your heart.
Meditate, empty your
mind, think
only of the presence of God. Make
a
spiritual communion, now.
Take time, be alone with Me.
Everyday
during Lent, morning and
night, empty your mind, make a
spiritual
communion, think of God’s
presence with you, close your eyes,
be
alone with Me.
This will help you to grow in God’s
presence all day, the more you do
this,
all thru Lent.
I went into the desert to pray for
40
days and be with My Father,
practice this every day during Lent.
Being alone with God. Knowing
My presence!!!!

Mysteries of Light
The Baptism of Jesus
1. Matthew 3: 13-17Then Jesus appeared: he came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John. John tried to dissuade him, with the words, ‘It is I who need baptism from you, and yet you come to me!’ But Jesus replied, ‘Leave it like this for the time being; it is fitting that we should, in this way, do all that uprightness demands.’ Then John gave in to him. And when Jesus had been baptised he at once came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him. And suddenly there was a voice from heaven, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on him.’
2. The heavens were thrown
open.
3. The voice of the Father was heard: "This
is
My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
4. The Holy Spirit was seen above Jesus’
head
in the form of a dove.
5. 'Peace' is my farewell to
you, my peace is my
gift to you.
6. St. Augustine said that peace is the
tranquility
of order.
7. When human beings basically respect the
order
God has established, there is peace.
8. God has a Plan for us.
When the order or design imprinted by God
upon human existence is not respected, trouble
ensues.
9. We are to walk in the Light. We are to
follow
Jesus.
10. We were created in the image and
likeness of
God.
We are to die to those ways, not like Jesus to
live more the life of resurrection.
The Marriage at Cana
1.
John
2: 1-10
On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited. And they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had all been used, and the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ Jesus said, ‘Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among the Jews: each could hold twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water,’ and they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them, ‘Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.’ They did this; the president tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew—the president of the feast called the bridegroom and said, ‘Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are well wined; but you have kept the best wine till now.’
2. Jesus performed the first
miracle of His
public life at Cana.
3. Lack of order and therefore peace has
consequences when there is disunity, lack
of harmony, and rebelliousness to the
Father’s plan.
4. This lack of harmony can be in families
or of world-wide proportions.
5. There is lack of peace for individuals
that
do not follow God’s will and do not live
in love.
6. We will have peace in our hearts in
proportion to how we obey our heavenly
Father’s will and live by His will.
7. As we live in peace and harmony, we
contribute to the peace and harmony of the
human race.
8. What is our interior disposition. How one
are we with God: Father, Son and Holy
Spirit.?
9. God is love. Jesus is the light of the
world
and in Him is no darkness.
10. Sonship, the Father said: "This is My
beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
How do we live as faithful sons of the
Father?
Building the Kingdom of
God
1.
Matthew 22: 36-40
'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'
2. All of our actions should be woven into a
tapestry of love.
3. Love builds the bridge.
4. God is love. We move more and more from
God, the less we operate in love.
5. We follow the heavenly Father’s Plan to help
build His Kingdom and we live in love.
God is love!!!
To know God is to love.
6. When we follow God’s Plan, we can have
order in our lives.
7. We must seek God’s will.
We must take time for prayer and reflection.
8. Jesus showed us how to cope with anxiety.
9. 'Peace' is my farewell to you, my peace is
my gift to you.
10. St. Augustine said that peace is the tranquility
of order.
The Transfiguration
1. Matthew 17: 1-9Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became as dazzling as light. And suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them; they were talking with him. Then Peter spoke to Jesus. ‘Lord,’ he said, ‘it is wonderful for us to be here; if you want me to, I will make three shelters here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ He was still speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from the cloud there came a voice which said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.’ When they heard this, the disciples fell on their faces, overcome with fear. But Jesus came up and touched them, saying, ‘Stand up, do not be afraid.’ And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but Jesus.
As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order, ‘Tell no one about this vision until the Son of man has risen from the dead.’
2. Jesus took Peter, James and John up Mt. Tabor.
3. The voice of the Father was heard: ”This is
My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased,
listen to Him.”
4. Hail Mary
5. 'Peace' is my farewell to you, my peace is my
gift to you.
6. St. Augustine said that peace is the tranquility
of order.
7. The world belongs to Christ.
8. Ephesians 1:17-23May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit of wisdom and perception of what is revealed, to bring you to full knowledge of him. May he enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope his call holds for you, how rich is the glory of the heritage he offers among his holy people, and how extraordinarily great is the power that he has exercised for us believers; this accords with the strength of his power at work in Christ, the power which he exercised in raising him from the dead and enthroning him at his right hand, in heaven, far above every principality, ruling force, power or sovereignty, or any other name that can be named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. He has put all things under his feet, and made him, as he is above all things, the head of the Church; which is his Body, the fullness of him who is filled, all in all.
9. The individual, the Church and the world
are in the state of becoming more Christic.
10. Christians should feel at home in the world
of Jesus.
The Institution of the Eucharist
1. 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread, and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.' Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until he comes.
2. The Mass is the sacrifice of Calvary,
sacramentally made present.
3. A Prayer Before the Holy Sacrifice of the MassLet me be a holy sacrifice and unite with God in the sacrament of His greatest love.
I want to be one in Him in this act of love, where He gives Himself to me and I give myself as a sacrifice to Him. Let me be a holy sacrifice as I become one with Him in this my act of greatest love to Him.
Let me unite with Him more, that I may more deeply love Him. May I help make reparation to His adorable Heart and the heart of His Mother, Mary. With greatest love, I offer myself to You and pray that You will accept my sacrifice of greatest love. I give myself to You and unite in Your gift of Yourself to me. Come and possess my soul.
Cleanse me, strengthen me, heal me. Dear Holy Spirit act in the heart of Mary to make me more and more like Jesus.
Father, I offer this my sacrifice, myself united to Jesus in the Holy Spirit to You. Help me to love God more deeply in this act of my greatest love.
Give me the grace to grow in my knowledge, love and service of You and for this to be my greatest participation in the Mass. Give me the greatest graces to love You so deeply in this Mass, You who are so worthy of my love.
-Mass Book, December 27, 1995
4. A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb the Bridegroom of the Soul
Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.
5. Spouse of Lamb February 25, 1998 - Ash Wednesday
Jesus:
Do you think I acted on your soul less when I gave you the experiences of hell?I give to you the greatest graces to know My love. I act directly on your soul. I am the Bridegroom of your soul.
R.
Oh Jesus, He took me to the heights of ecstasy in Him in realizing how He is the Initiator and acts on my soul. How foolish I am indeed to think it is I who control the workings of God on my soul, when in fact He is the Bridegroom of my soul.I see Him look at me with the greatest love, as I did once in the study, when I knew He looked at me and loved me so. I sat with a white dress and my Bridegroom looked with love on me, thinking me so beautiful to Him, me the little child of the Father in all my faults, and looking on me with such love. He stood above me as a Bridegroom dressed in black, tall and handsome, and He looked down with the most loving eyes upon me and I knew the love of the Divine Creator.
Today I knew how it was, how He acted on my soul. I see how it is when someone really acts in love and does something for me because that person loves me.
I see myself as open, letting go, putting myself entirely in the hands of the Creator, the God I love, and the Bridegroom comes with the greatest love and His grace. He gives me Himself. My job is to be, just to be, a soul, waiting for the Bridegroom to just give me Himself in the greatest love. I am, I know it is He who acts, and when He acts His presence overtakes my soul. I am, I let go and I reminisce about all the times He just overtook my soul.
Little do I do, for it is the Bridegroom loving me, loving my soul and acting most intimately on my soul.
I sit and surrender myself entirely to Him. He is the Initiator. He is the One Who acts with His grace and NOTHING - no intimate experience, nothing here can fill the soul with this love and satisfaction.
For the Bridegroom acts and the soul is satisfied, the only desire is that it will never end. Sometimes there is such a longing and realizing the temporariness of it all. Sometimes He gives my soul such satisfaction, comfort and love, and I am filled with the greatest peace and satisfaction with less awareness of the temporariness, just peace.
Jesus:
I give you the peace of the Sacred Heart of Jesus when He acts on the soul of His spouse. I am the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. I am the Spouse of your soul. I give you this satisfaction so that you will write to Me after Communion for My Mass Books for the world. This book will be entitled the Spouse of the Lamb. I will act on your soul most intimately. And what My child is the key, but total surrender as a spouse who knows her spouse loves her and takes the love given. You, child, pray for this grace, to be possessed by the Lamb, the Bridegroom of your soul. What lesson did I teach you this day but that it is I who act upon you, you do not control My love given to you in any way. A grace is given, a grace is received.
Your total surrender is the way to most optimally allow the Bridegroom, the Lamb, to act on your soul.
Total yielding, so that you will allow yourself to be IN ME.
R.
Oh my God - how to explain that which happens when You act on my soul and what I experience. Are there any words that could do this justice when the Almighty God finds favor with me most intimately, and gives Himself to me?Jesus:
My child, I act, you are passive, empty and open. Surrender and I will possess your soul with the lights of eaven so you can experience your Divine Lover most intimately. Surrender, surrender, surrender, a state of being and surrender to live in Him at the point of greatest intimacy in the Mass. You will know days of darkness and joy as the shadows and lights fade in and out of your life and I reveal Myself most intimately to you.
I am Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom of your soul. Your hand must record these experiences for the marriage of the Lamb to the soul.
I act upon your soul most intimately.
A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul
Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience you most intimately.
R.
My beloved Jesus,The Bridegroom of my soul. It is not I who write, but in fact, You Who write through me, to Yourself. I surrender myself and want to exist in You in such oneness that I can more optimally love You.
This is my desire to give You great love from my heart existent in You.
And this I write for 10 minutes that You will help me to love God most intimately and give myself more completely to Him.
My God, I adore You, I worship You, I love You, my beloved Spouse, the Bridegroom of my soul. I know the black Bridegroom, the one dressed as a bridegroom who wears a white robe of glory. Yes, it is the priests dressed in black that are to teach us to be the spouse of the Lamb.
Revelation 1:6
...and made us a Kingdom of Priests to serve his God and Father; to him, then, be glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
R.
And the Bridegroom comes, He summons the soul.Oh, my Bridegroom, we pray for the wedding of the Lamb to our souls.
We pray for the spousal relationship of our souls with Our Divine God.
Jesus:
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The life flows from My Sacred Heart to My body, the Church. Many never mention the Sacred Heart of Jesus. What body would survive cut off from the heart? My life flows from My Heart into the body, My Church.
I am the Sacred Heart of Jesus and My Heart will reign - I am calling My people to a personal spousal relationship with God. This is the work of the Shepherds of Christ. I bless you in this mission to bring about the Reign of My Sacred Heart.
I am Jesus, the Son of God, Son of Man, the Sacred Heart, I am the beating Heart that keeps the body alive with My grace.
R.
Blood and water poured forth from His most Sacred Heart. Blood a symbol of the Eucharist, water a symbol of Baptism. He cursed the barren fig tree.
Revelation 6:13
...and the stars of the sky fell onto the earth like figs dropping from a fig tree when a high wind shakes it;
Revelation 7: 17
...because the Lamb who is at the heart of the throne will be their shepherd and will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Revelation 5: 10
and made them a line of kings and priests for God, to rule the world.
6. Spouse of Lamb March 6, 1998 First Friday
R.
My beloved Spouse, the Bridegroom of my soul,
The days go by with such swiftness, yet my focus is entirely on being one with Thee. The days fade in and out in shades of lights and darks, some days I receive immense insight into Your mysteries, some days I am left to tremendous suffering, wanting You so deeply in my soul and not experiencing Your favor. On this First Friday, I recall vividly the vision of Your precious Heart I hold in my heart. I see it clearly, red and filled with fire, and I know the warmth and glow of Your sacred Divine love.
Oh, my Sacred Heart, indeed, Thy love is most sacred. Yet even though I do not ponder as I should on the endless fires of love emitted from your treasured Heart, I have a constant awareness of this love which leads me to march forth in this battle of helping to win souls over for the Kingdom.
Little is accomplished if I nurse my wounds on those dark days and sit in a corner waiting for a great favor from You. I walk those shaded days as You walked with the cross on Your back, but my awareness of Your Father and His plan for salvation is so limited, and I struggle tremendously as I am pressed on as I travel on my journey to the end of the day. And then a day of glory comes and You look upon me, my Bridegroom, and give me great favors and allow me to have a day of resurrection from the doom and the struggle.
And how did He walk the earth? He walked it too, in dark and light days. Days in which they chased Him and wanted to kill Him, in which they called Him crazy, in which He sweat the saving Blood because of His anguish, in which He was tempted, in which He wept, in which He loved Mary His Mother and Mary Magdalene, in which He raised His dear friend Lazarus from the dead, in which He preached about the Kingdom to His followers.
Days of light, days of darkness, but He entered the tomb and came forth victorious in the end.
He rose to give us life, His wounds were glorified, the victory was won.
My Bridegroom, You give to me Yourself this day. I am one in the glorified Lord in the most intimate way. The banquet is prepared. The Lamb has been slain. Now we reap the glory of the risen Lord. We receive the gift of life in Him.
LIGHT and darkness. He is the Bread of Life, He comes to feed the starved soul with Himself. Our most treasured gift, our most treasured Friend, Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom of our soul, gives Himself as a sacrifice that we will share in His life most abundantly.
I love You, Jesus Christ my Bridegroom, come and possess my soul.

8. From Fr. Carter's Homily BookJanuary 12, 2000 - School of Love
Today’s gospel from John’s Gospel speaks some beautiful words to us about Jesus’ gift of Himself to us in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is such a great school of love. Jesus comes to us out of God’s miracle of love, through the miracle of transubstantiation, bread and wine is changed into the Body and Blood of Jesus. This is a wonderful miracle so that even though He ascended into heaven he is still…in what the Church refers to as His real presence, in the Eucharist. Jesus remains with us: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, today, in His real presence in the Eucharist.
Yes, the Eucharist is a great school of love. In the Eucharist, Jesus teaches us the lengths in which love can go. Jesus showed us His love, by His fruitful dying on the cross, by His glorious Resurrection, by remaining with us in the Eucharist. And so the Eucharist teaches us… love…always love, love of God, love your neighbor, love for each other as ourselves. The Eucharist teaches us…how the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus cries out for our love, and Jesus wants so much, so much to be loved.
But the Eucharist in its school of love tells us how he overwhelming loves us…Jesus gives himself to us in the Eucharist. He loved those who, loved and accepted Him and those who rejected Him, despite all Jesus did for them and all His love for them.
9. February 1, 2000
The offering of the votive Mass of the Holy Eucharist allows us all sorts of possibilities to reflect upon this multi-splendored gift which is the Eucharist. Today I thought I would give a homily which allows us to deepen our appreciation and our thanksgiving for the availability of the Eucharist to us. Even we, who try to be so fully committed to Christ and to Christ in His Eucharistic gift, can at least, a little bit of times, to a certain degree, take the Eucharist for granted and not appreciate its daily availability to us.
These two stories I'm going to quote bring out the fact that not all Catholics have this daily availability and sometimes when they have it they have to experience the endangerment of their own lives to attend the Eucharist. And this first story is found in Fulton Sheen's book, Through the Year with Fulton Sheen, brings this fact out that, especially during those war years, Second World War and communist domination after World War II, how people literally around the world, at least in those communist dominated countries and during the German occupation in World War II actually risked their lives for the great privilege of attending the Eucharist.
And here’s that story from a German concentration camp. "A priest who was in the German prison camp Dachau describes the Mass after all the German guards were in bed. He said, ‘Our lives were in danger if we were ever discovered. A young priest had to memorize the names of all of those who had received Communion. After night call and bed check, we would set our guards, darken the windows, and the lucky one to be chosen to celebrate for this momentous occasion would carefully brush his pathetic garb, put the stole over his shoulders, and by the small light of his smuggled candle begin the commemoration of that great passion...
We could understand the Mass. All that could crowd into the room were there, tears of joy running down our cheeks. Christ the Lord, who knew what suffering was, was coming... to bring us strength and consolation. The small hosts were broken into as many particles as possible so that the greatest number could communicate. We had to keep a secret roster of those who received. We missed some of the liturgy perhaps, but I think that God looked down into that prison room and found a particularly refreshing response to his cry of love from the cross, ‘I thirst.’ There was nothing that could keep us from doing all in our power to be closer to God.’"1
And if this story brings out the great danger many have undergone to attend the Eucharist, this next story brings out the fact that in many sections of our world today there are not enough priests, and many Catholics do not have the Eucharist because of this shortage of priests.
And this is related to us by Pope John Paul II in one of his letters, his Holy Thursday letters, to his fellow priests. He says, "Dear brothers: ...you who have put your hand to the plough and do not turn back, and perhaps even more those of you who are doubtful of the meaning of your vocation or of the value of your service: think of the places where people anxiously await a priest, and where for many years, feeling the lack of such a priest, they do not cease to hope for his presence.
And sometimes it happens that they meet in an abandoned shrine, and place on the altar a stole which they still keep, and recite all the prayers of the Eucharistic Liturgy; and then, at the moment that corresponds to the transubstantiation a deep silence comes down upon them, a silence sometimes broken by a sob... so ardently do they desire to hear the words that only the lips of a priest can efficaciously utter... So deeply do they feel the absence of a priest among them!... Such places are not lacking in the world. So if one of you doubts the meaning of his Priesthood, if he thinks it is ‘socially’ fruitless or useless, reflect on this!” 2
And so we who have the great privilege of attending the Eucharist each day, let us pray during this Mass and always not to take that availability for granted, but to get the most out of each Eucharistic participation.
And as we participate, among our other petitions, let us ask the Father to send us more priests, good and holy priests, and to renew His present priests with the greatest desire for the greatest holiness. Father, we put this petition before You through Your Son Jesus, in the Holy Spirit, with the prayerful assistance of Mary, our Mother.

10. February 14, 2000The Pharisees, as we are told in today's gospel, were looking for a sign from Jesus, but they were looking for it with the wrong attitude. They were demanding a sign, and this is not the attitude the creature should have before the Creator. Everything good which we have, of course, is a gift of God, and we humbly beg and request His good things given to us, that He may continue to give them to us, but we never demand. And as far as seeking for signs, we do this according to His will as a way of confirmation on the path to eternal life.
But we must always remember that God has given us, the Father has given us, an over-whelming sign of His love for us, of His call for us to become members of His family here and eternally so in heaven, and all other signs, if they are authentic, must fit into that one overwhelming absolute sign the Father has given us, and that is the incarnation of His Son.
This is the sign, this is the Sacrament, that sign God has given to us, that in His graciousness, that in His mercifulness, that in His great love, He has entered this world in the most magnificent fashion through His Son taking it upon Himself a human nature. This is the sign, which we must always align ourselves to an absolute measure, and all other signs, if they are authentic, will lead us closer to this sign which is the word made flesh, Jesus.
And out of that human nature, out of that incarnation which is the great sign of the Father's love for us, there is an aspect, a dimension of that human nature which in a very special way is sign, is symbol, and that is the Heart of Jesus. The Heart of Jesus is a summary type of sign, symbol of God's love having entered this world through Jesus and of God's wanting our love in return through and with and in Jesus. What a great gift is the sign, the symbol which is the Heart of Jesus.
And yes as we said, that sign, that symbol of Jesus' Heart is not only a sign, a symbol of His great love for us, His life of love in all its aspects, including His great love for each of us, but it's a sign, it's a symbol which calls out for a response, because the sign does not achieve its end, its purpose as we are concerned unless we respond and follow Jesus on the path to salvation.
And it is a sign which calls not only for our gift of self to God in love, but a gift of self to all others, for whom Jesus died. As John tells us, "Anyone who says ‘I love God’ and hates his brother, is a liar." (1 John 20)
Everyone is in the image of God. All have been redeemed by the Precious Blood of Jesus. This is why we are called to love everybody as we respond to that great sign, that great symbol which is the Heart of Jesus. We really do not find ourselves fully unless we make a sincere gift of self to Jesus and through Him to the Father, in the Holy Spirit with Mary at our side and to our
neighbor. We do not truly find ourselves unless we respond to this sign which is Jesus' Heart, wedo not truly find ourselves unless we give ourselves. But we say, "It is so hard, day after day, afterday, to keep giving myself as I know, I should, to God and to neighbor through Jesus." Of ourselves,of course, it is too hard. But with Jesus it's relatively easy. And of course we say it's too hard, especially, when we become so afraid and almost paralyzed, with fear at times. This is one of the great obstacles to responding, to the Heart of Jesus, as we should, our fear, our being afraid, our being scared, allowing Satan to tie us up, in the paralysis of morbid fear.
Especially, at those times, we should recall, what Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Mark. You remember how this scene goes. “When evening came, the boat was far out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. He could see that they were hard pressed in their rowing, for the wind was against them; and about the fourth watch of the night, he came towards them, walking on the sea. He was going to pass them by, but when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they had all seen him and were terrified. But at once he spoke to them and said, ‘Courage! It’s me! Don’t be afraid.’” (Mark 6: 47-50) “‘Courage! It’s me! Don’t be afraid.’” (Mark 6: 50)
This has been one of the great hallmarks, oneof the great battle cries, if you will, of Pope John Paul II's reign as Pontiff. He tells us, "Do not be afraid." And if that man, who for some more than twenty years, has taken upon himself the great, awesome, overwhelming burden of the Papacy, if he can keep going forward with his great burden each day living off of these words,
“‘Courage! It’s me! Don’t be afraid.’” (Mark 6:50) certainly we, with the grace God gives to us, we can say these words to us, take them to heart, live by them and fulfill our mission in life, a mission which no one else can fulfill.Of course it's chiefly in the Eucharist, as we offer ourselves along with Jesus, to the Father, in the Spirit and as we receive Him, in the sacrament of Communion, of the Eucharist, it is chiefly then that we should allow these words to penetrate most deeply into the center of our beings, because this is where we get the greatest grace to live by these words and the other words of the gospel.
So, as we respond each day, to the great sign of the Incarnation and to an aspect of Jesus' human nature, which is His human Heart as symbol of His love, and as we try to respond in love, let us remember these words, especially when we're scared, we're afraid, let us recall these words, “‘Courage! It’s me! Don’t be afraid.’” (Mark 6: 50)

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $10 |
Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $10 |
Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $10 |
Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $10 |
