April 30, 2013 - After Communion
R. We see in the Passion Movie how the devil works –
Satan is shown on the sidelines like a snake moving
about on the outskirts of where Christ is. Satan
is always ready to start conflict for the person
called by Christ to serve. So we see this, if one speaks
out for Christ – there is the man opposing him
in conflict. From a distance in the same place
the conflict begins – opposition to God's will
from the person opposing God's work acting in conflict
as an agent of satan – to stir up, to divide, to
try to take out love and devotion given to God.
Jesus: With regard to religious, I have called men and
women to serve Me in obedience to the
Church, under a superior. Satan wants to
rule. The person, in obedience serving God
is doing God's work, spreading love and the
growth of the Kingdom –
R. So satan attacks the religious in the vow
of obedience. Fr. Carter taught me how important
his vow of obedience was to his superiors. He never
disobeyed his superiors, talked about them etc.
The priest in a parish, as the pastor, has authority
from the Bishop, from God to run the parish –
Even if a parishioner thinks he is better than
the priest in how he needs something done
and is told in obedience to do it a certain way –
he is to do what he is told by the priest who is pastor.
Satan attacks men called to religious sometimes
to not want to be under anyone – so they do
not follow their vocation because they do
not want to be under a Bishop or superior.
Sometimes satan attacks the authority from God,
through men who were to be obedient, and oppose
and challenge those over them.
Those really wanting to attack the structure
as in families, parishes, organizations
can abuse those in charge to block
directions, fun, ministries, to keep the
family, the parish, the organization in
a constant attack-mode, acting on those being
used by satan with those challenges against
authority. In some families we can see a
whole family live around a destructive
teenager on drugs, a parent who is an alcoholic
or a parent who is a workaholic or a parent
addicted to abuse or perfection or control.
Abuse and control of money can be used
making a dependency which can force those in
authority to put up with these chains of bondage
inflicted by those under seeking to challenge authority
to implement power and control for satan.
We see creating a dependency for money, for
control, can be used to show a failure, to get attention
and power. This manipulation for power is for vain glory,
power against the family, the good of the parish,
the good for the country – This can be a power satan
can use and people he acts through to implement
rules opposed to the rule of God or against the
original rule which needs to be the rule in place
for which the establishment was set up.
From Pope Francis
BERGOGLIO: I believe I’m too embroiled in the secular fiasco. It is a spiritual job, and I’m a soldier. Look at the nature of power. In Europe first and now in America, elected men have taken it upon themselves to indebt their people to create an atmosphere of dependency. And why? For their own selfish need to increase their own personal power. I’ve been a keen observer of the effect this has on the people, especially the poor. They are very good at creating poverty where there is no reason to explain it. My job is try to alleviate poverty and if that means to oppose the cause then I will not be Pope.
Jesus: Satan wants disobedience to just authority
and in religious who are under a vow of
obedience – satan wants a display of that disobedience
before others to discredit the just authority.
Satan wants to run things through the
disobedience of religious who disobey authority.
Satan wants commotion, chaos; satan wants war
opposing God!!
Satan discredits those in charge before
others through the people who give
their power to satan, in religious orders especially
in disobedience to those over them.
Satan hates the Mass and Eucharistic Exposition.
I am truly present in the Blessed Sacrament in My
Divinity and humanity. I long for the ones
attending Mass - united to the sacrifice of Calvary
sacramentally made present – The Father outpours
His grace when one comes, united to Me, in the
Holy Spirit - loving God and attending Mass with a
holy interior disposition for offering sacrifice.
The devil hates the Churches where I am
present in the Blessed Sacrament – truly present –
no less present than the day I walked the earth –
So the devil wants to press on someone to try to
take - out group prayer before the Blessed Sacrament,
satan wants to take out chapels and churches where
churches are devoted to the Blessed Sacrament.
Satan wants Churches to close – he uses
people acting to try to stop the Church.
The focus at Mass, is the Mass, is the
unity, is the sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally
made present.
Satan wants to take out the Masses,
the Churches, with reasons why it
is necessary – not even seeing the importance
of the priests and the Churches to the world.
Satan attacks men's thinking to use
them if they listen to satan to challenge
in parishes, families, organizations
dedicated to God's love and building the
Kingdom of God –
Satan is at work, can't you see what is
happening?
Because of original sin, men have distorted
thinking – they can keep listening to
satan and act in pride opposing
Me for their evil consent in unloving ways –
against the greatest commandment.
I am love. Satan is hate.
I am truth. Satan is the father of lies.
Satan is at work in trying to create dependency
on those he can use to oppose God.
Jesus: Satan is a liar. He works in pride and envy and
jealousy – satan pushes ahead two steps and
back one –
using people who serve him.
Excerpt of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, by Louis J. Puhl, S.J.
136. THE FOURTH DAY
A MEDITATION ON TWO STANDARDS
The one of Christ, our supreme leader and lord,
the other of Lucifer, the deadly enemy of our
human naturePRAYER. The usual preparatory prayer.
window at a former Jesuit Seminary
137. FIRST PRELUDE. This is the history. Here it will be that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his.
138. SECOND PRELUDE. This is a mental representation of the place. It will be here to see a great plain, comprising the whole region about Jerusalem, where the sovereign Commander-in-Chief of all the good is Christ our Lord; and another plain about the region of Babylon, where the chief of the enemy is Lucifer.
139. THIRD PRELUDE. This is to ask for what I desire. Here it will be to ask for a knowledge of the deceits of the rebel chief and help to guard myself against them; and also to ask for a knowledge of the true life exemplified in the sovereign and true Commander, and the grace to imitate Him.
FIRST PART
THE STANDARD OF SATAN
140. FIRST POINT. Imagine you see the chief of all the enemy in the vast plain about Babylon, seated on a great throne of fire and smoke, his appearance inspiring horror and terror.
141. SECOND POINT. Consider how he summons innumerable demons, and scatters them, some to one city and some to another, throughout the whole world, so that no province, no place, no state of life, no individual is overlooked.
142. THIRD POINT. Consider the address he makes to them, how he goads them on to lay snares for men and bind them with chains. First they are to tempt them to covet riches (as Satan himself is accustomed to do in most cases) that they may the more easily attain the empty honors of this world, and then come to overweening pride.
The first step, then, will be riches, the second honor, the third pride. From these three steps the evil one leads to all other vices.
SECOND PART
THE STANDARD OF CHRIST
143. In a similar way, we are to picture to ourselves the sovereign and true Commander, Christ our Lord.
144. FIRST POINT. Consider Christ our Lord, standing in a lowly place in a great plain about the region of Jerusalem, His appearance beautiful and attractive.
145. SECOND POINT. Consider how the Lord of all the world chooses so many persons, apostles, disciples, etc., and sends them throughout the whole world to spread His sacred doctrine among all men, no matter what their state or condition.
146. THIRD POINT. . . .
end of excerpt of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
Deuteronomy 30: 19-20
Today, I call heaven and earth to witness against you: I am offering you life or death, blessing or curse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live, in the love of Yahweh your God, obeying his voice, holding fast to him; for in this your life consists, and on this depends the length of time that you stay in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that he would give them.’
Jesus: Satan wants power –
Satan wants people to stir up things so there
is no peace –
Satan wants excitement, argumentation, adrenalin
working – negative energy opposing God.
I am meek and tender of Heart –
Satan wants combat against obedience to God.
Satan wants families and marriages destroyed –
Satan has attacked vocations –
I call a person to a vocation –
Satan attacks that person and they give in
not honoring their commitment –
religious being My Spouse
Married being the spouse in a relationship –
Satan wants hate - division
Satan aims at the jugular vein –
He wants to destroy authority (just authority)
coming from God.
Look at how satan has led people, who
gave in, to disobey My commandments,
with regards to sex and abortion –
killing babies –
Look at the rules of God and
the rules of your country –
Satan is at battle with justice and right –
Satan works to try to rule over the
just man – to press on people to
not only disobey just authority,
but discredit the head entirely from
those closest to the head –
Jesus: Satan wants the Eucharist taken out –
Matthew 4: 1-11
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit out into the desert to be put to the test by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, after which he was hungry, and the tester came and said to him, ‘If you are Son of God, tell these stones to turn into loaves.’ But he replied, ‘Scripture says:
Human beings live not on bread alone
but on every word
that comes from the mouth of God.’The devil then took him to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple. ‘If you are Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down; for scripture says:
He has given his angels orders about you,
and they will carry you in their arms
in case you trip over a stone.’Jesus said to him, ‘Scripture also says:
Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’
Next, taking him to a very high mountain, the devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. And he said to him, ‘I will give you all these, if you fall at my feet and do me homage.’ Then Jesus replied, ‘Away with you, Satan! For scripture says:
The Lord your God is the one
to whom you must do homage,
him alone you must serve.’Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels appeared and looked after him.

R. Healing Relationships
A person that keeps testing others with
untrustworthy, addictive behavior
can make it so hard for others to deal
with –
They fail to see how their bad
behavior affects everybody –
every place they go –
There is in us a way we
see reality –
God wants us to know Him inside –
that He dwells in our graced baptized
soul. To know that center of
Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwelling
in us.
The devil wants us to see
only darkness inside, not be happy –
The devil is hate –
God is love
God commands us to love –
Love God first
Love others as ourselves –
I must treasure each moment I have
right now because I can never
have it back again –
I love You Jesus, Holy Spirit and
God the Father –
April 30
Dear God help me to do Your will –
Dear God fill me with Your love
Dear God - help me to be what You want
me to be –
Jesus: Dear child - you are My most precious child,
I love you, I am dwelling in your
graced baptized soul – I love you,
I am in your heart –
teach others about your love for Me –
I am blessing you in so many special
ways.
R. God doesn't give us more
than we can handle.
Jesus: I love you, I will take care of you –
I am your God –
I watch out for you –
I never slumber or sleep,
I am your God –
I bless and love you –
R. Dear God, please help us to heal.
Jesus says - My ways are simple,
My child, I love you –
If somebody wants to be healed
they must admit they need healing.
A person that has a compulsive
behavior must admit it –
If a person lies they must want
to quit it.
A person that keeps on making false
promises won't change unless
they tell the truth about themselves.
If a person that is addicted doesn't tell
themselves the truth about themselves
they will not be healed.
R. We pray dear Jesus we are wounded, please
heal us of our addictions, bad habits,
falsities about ourselves –
Many people use things or do addictive
behaviors because they are full
of pain –
God doesn't want us to be caved in,
negative but to be more and more
like Him - to put on Christ –
Dear God I spread Your blood on me and
everybody I touch or in my
life – Cast the devil far from
all of us, I consecrate my heart
and their hearts to Jesus and Mary as far as
I am able and ask for a special outpouring
of the Holy Spirit on me and everybody.
Keep it simple, one day at a time
I cast the devils to the fires of hell –
Jesus speaks: I love you, I am He who
comforts you, You are My chosen
one, I am with you in your suffering –
Jesus says: I carried My Cross, when
a person keeps on doing things that hurt
others and they deny it, it is hard to trust
them because they are untrustworthy.
R. Jesus help me to tell the truth about
myself, help me to heal – I want to tell
the truth always, to live in the
truth of Jesus. Dear Jesus help me to
see happiness is in You –
Dear God please clean out my heart
that has any debris in it –
help me to be free by facing
what I need to about needing
to change some things –
die to those ways, not likened
to You –
God intends us to help each other –
We need to learn to care for
each other because God wants
us to –
I can never live the moments of this
day again. Dear Mary, you are
my Mother – You appeared in
Clearwater because you want
us to know how much
you love us and to grow in
the ways of the heart –
Say Our Father –
The Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change...
Courage to change the things I can
and Wisdom to know the difference.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
R. Dear God, I am thankful for all the people
You have put in my life to help
build Your Kingdom –
Dear God I love you!!
Dear God thank You for my breath –
Breathe in Jesus, breathe out anxiety –
Many people may have endured
false promises, so then we are
disappointed many times when others
don't stick to their promises –
When others give us love
we should be grateful – not
back up or hurt them –
Dysfunctional people can engage
in love - hate relationships
It doesn't make sense to do the
same behavior over and over again
and expect different results.
Jesus: A person who doesn't love themselves
can project that dislike of themselves
on others and hurt others
for what is inside of them –
then they don't feel good because
they are not telling the truth and
abusing others –
A person who wants to hurt others is
going against what God wants –
God commands us to love –
A person can provoke another person
and do it to get them to lose
control –
It can be an addiction – provoking
to get a reaction of power
over others –
A person can make others hurt and
then act like they never did anything –
this hurts people more when they
lie about their behavior –
They can laugh and joke and be
2-faced.
Low - self-esteem is not what God
wants
R. God created us for a purpose to serve
Him, to love Him and others
Addictions are usually to numb pain
Jesus: It can be abandonment from childhood –
A child being subjected to parent's
sick behavior –
perfectionism helps to wound the
inner child of the past in the children –
A person addicted may work for an
adrenalin high
workaholics
They may make a crises to try to get
others to lose control –
pump up adrenalin –
A work-aholic can be very fidgety and
do the work he does to numb the
pain –
Everybody should realize we were
made to work together in respect and love –
We should be healthy about work –
Personal happiness comes from balance –
not addictions
Joy!!
A father who never thought he was good
enough many times projects
his own shame on others –
a father can say to a son
"you'll never amount to anything"
because he thinks that way about himself
There can be addictive thinking –
How is your view of the world?
What is your reality?
What is normal?
Some women may live to be
a "super - mom"
or a "career - woman"
they can turn their vocation of mom and career
woman into a blessing or a destructive cycle –
Destructive thinking
A cycle of low self-esteem –
this is a failure
Some people work to fix others and never
think about looking at themselves –
these people try to create a dependency on them –
co-dependence, sick relationships that hurt all involved
R. We choose things to do every day –
We can choose to think we never
did things good enough –
or to be human-doers and never
get in touch with our hearts –
Jesus calls this: (Busy Busy Busy)
A person can plan "stuff" so they
are pushing others to do things
that are impossible to do –
for their own controlling power –
or to get an adrenalin rush,
or to work out their anxiety concerning some
other matter, they put someone to a tedious task,
if they are in authority over others or
if they can get away with it.
This tedious task of forcing others to do a lot of work
opposed to God's will creates a mess, ties
people up and at the same time stops them
from doing God's will because they are tied
up not doing God's will.
A person can see themselves as a mediator –
they always have the highest position
and can try to make others dependent
on them –
so-dependent –
Some may need to control others when
they are wrong in doing so,
they can do it for their own vain power
because of loss of power with other
people they may 'lord-it-over' those
willing to serve.
Some are perfectionists –
they can ignore good and
just see the bad –
try to force something that is
almost impossible to achieve
Relationships should be worked on,
worked out in love –
Some can see themselves as being perfect
and never work with others.
We can see how some families do a
dysfunctional dance and try to
force others to do that dance –
Families may never change –
when they get together they
want everyone to do the old
dance steps –
How do we have balance in our lives?
How do we have fun?
Do we check-out and time-goes-by
and we act like nothing happened
(brown-outs)
and some do not validate this in - out
behavior in relationships.
(which could be the cause of many divorces,
the person expecting the other to put up
with their isolated, selfish, ways and refuse
to work as a couple, and to refuse to communicate
about anything or validate their wrong behavior,
leaving the wounded spouse helpless in trying to
live as a married couple should,
being united in love.
Do we see our self - worth dependent
on how much we do (a human-doer) –
not building ourselves in relationships
as God has commanded us to love and relate?
The latter is what is really important.
Balance.
Do we have addictions and are
not internally focused at all –
(If a person is not in touch, in a healthy way,
with themselves interiorly, they start looking
for validation and appreciation exteriorly,
as a main way of life for them or they latch
on to addictions for not spiritually furthering
themselves.)
Do we make healthy choices in how
we relate with others or
do we punish others?
do we hold - out with others?
do we play games with others?
do we promise healthy behavior,
but don't even try like we
need to?
What is the baggage level? Are you afraid?
Our relationships take work – Live by a door without baggage! Don't be too rigid to change bad habits – |
Don't play old tapes that encourage bad
habits and thinking, low self-esteem,
that are thoughts building up pride,
anger, jealousy, envy toward our brothers.
Having old reactions from bad habits,
old survival tactics learned
as little children are destructive in adulthood –
THE NEGATIVE PAST
How thick is the skin of pride, anger,
bad habits
Fr. Carter talks about the ideal self
as God wanted us to be, as
God created us to be.
From Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.
Close friends stand side by side and together walk the path of life. Secure in the other's acceptance and love, each feels a sense of relief that he or she does not need to maintain any kind of facade. Each is encouraged to be and to become according to the real, the true self. Far from hampering the proper unfolding and developing of each one's personality, the friendship offers many diverse opportunities for the maturing of each other's uniqueness. Indeed, each person feels that without the other he or she may not have grown so well in certain facets of self-knowledge; each person feels that without the other he or she may not have grown or become in certain ways at all.
R. A person can have low self-esteem and
live for approval of others
People who are to love –
1 John 4:17-21
Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because even in this world we have become as he is. In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment and no one who is afraid has come to perfection in love. Let us love, then, because he first loved us. Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also love his brother.
R. A person can grow up in a house where
they never learned to make a decision –
because they were not taught to work in relationships
with others, giving and taking, pain and joy.
A person can use abuse, force to
implement their ways –
Life can be a struggle for power between
two strong willed people –
a battle - ground
God calls us to be so united in love –
to work together –
God wants us to learn to love –
Life can be like a Roller-Coaster if
a person is not accountable and
responsible for their behavior –
They can use money or things to
force their ways creating dependencies
of the victim –
We are to not lose the child inside
that is spontaneous and alive
in their hearts - having fun –
We need to look inside and go through
the pain and baggage of the
past –
If a person doesn't go inside to
know themselves - then they
will go outside to find
themselves and this doesn't work –
Low self-esteem
Seeking approval
Games
Abuse
We need to laugh and to love and
to grow
We need to be able to trust those in
relationships –
Jesus: Healing is necessary for relationships –
I give you a beautiful sky
I give you children that are so beautiful –
I give you light and love –
I give you each other to love –
Some people don't remember because
they shut down because of
dysfunction
You need the freedom to let yourself
let go of the past –
Song: Little Child
Song: Why Do We Hurt the Ones We Love
R. Adult children - of Alcoholics
are ones who never grew up
and are stuck in the past –
stuck in a lot of pain,
fear,
fear of abandonment
We need to get in touch with our hearts
Children in dysfunctional homes
lost a lot in childhood –
Some children grew up in a very
stressed childhood –
There must be repair, recovery
from damaged childhood –
A child abused was not at fault
for what was done to them –
a person who suffered a loss
in childhood needs recovery
A person who has grown up in an
alcoholic home or where,
abuse was, needs to admit
the truth to recover. And
after this recovery seeking a
spiritual awakening of freedom
from letting go of pain and loving
all those who have hurt them,
in this forgiveness, praying for
them. This does not mean going
back and living with them necessarily,
although one may need to help and
live with an aged parent who needs
help, but the truth
in their hearts must be faced and
their love - honest and real - even
though they were hurt. It is a
process called recovery, a process
that ends in peace, love and joy,
a process that ends in living in
the moment. A process of going
out to others in love as God commands
of us.
A person cannot live in denial of
the truth –
a person damaged who does not
do recovery and living in
denial of the truth is trying
to ignore the past and needs
to recover –
There is a no-talk rule in homes
where there is denial of the
truth – God intends us to
love and respect each other.
Children are taught to not trust
in dysfunctional homes, a parent
may have not been available
because of their own dysfunction
and bad mood and the child grew
up, feeling emotionally abandoned, when
they needed to learn trust and love.
But most parents still loving their
children did the best job they could,
being dysfunctional themselves and
coming from dysfunctional generations
of ancestors.
Exodus 34: 6-7
Then Yahweh passed before him and called out, ‘Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy, maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing go unchecked, and punishing the parent’s fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourth generation!’
R. As adults, they can become untrustworthy
themselves –
A person can live their whole life
in a negative reality, darkness
and trying to get others to live
in that reality in co-dependent
relationships.
We must know ourselves –
Live reality as it is –
God is light –
God wants us to feel safe.
A person who abuses another, can do
so, to store their pain and
shame in another innocent person
through force.
A person has to train themselves
who grew up in dysfunction –
it's okay not to do what
the family says –
Trauma survivors can get
triggered - even by smells,
things like that –
They are looking to normalize
themselves – they want somebody
who is normal to normalize
them –
always searching outside themselves
to figure things out –
not dealing with their damage
inside
Men who went to war have tremendous
problems to deal with –
What about the war of a child in
a dysfunctional home – who
is robbed of childhood by
sick living?
People who have been beaten by
others, suffer survival
tactics they learned in childhood
A man at war does not act as he
did in battle in the home –
Anger needs to be handled.
We need balance in our lives.
Seeing a mom as a mom – not
a super mom –
just as it is – life is
to be lived – ups and downs
and love
When someone is an abuse survivor,
they had to check-out during
abuse to survive it.
Trauma can cause a person to
lose that sensitive
connection with themselves –
Inability to stay focused
Addictions are survival skills
Memory loss - some not wanting to remember –
Some use everything but remembering to
handle it –
Skills can be learned to numb the body,
from abuse in childhood –
acted out in adult-hood –
because of stuffed feelings and
inability to be in touch with the
truth about their feelings in childhood –
A person learns to freeze up to not feel pain
and may still be locked up in that frozen pain.
Dissociation because of trauma can come
up in adulthood because it was a survival tactic
the child had to use to survive the dysfunction.
Like a plastic person in adulthood –
NO Feel
NO Talk
NO Trust
A person can laugh and smile after
hurting others if they have
been wounded that way.
Laughing when it is a tragedy
is a survival tactic
Stuffed feelings –
Not living in the present,
Fear of abandonment,
Fear –
Grief –
Anger –
Repressed experiences –
If a person is triggered from
old pain or abuse
they can be re-stimulated, but
many can't remember
but they can then project it on innocent
others in adulthood because of their pain.
Children can't understand
abuse and bad behavior
by parents, so children must
deal with it in survival
tactics learned –
things feel unsafe in adulthood for
because of unhealed, unsafe
experiences of childhood –
Adults must recognize many things
are safe and they are projecting
this unsafeness into their lives now
for no reason.
Adults can have fear of abandonment until they look at it –
they can become possessive –
they would rather manipulate others to
act out old patterned behavior then
change as they need to and recognize
the truth about themselves
they can act out the past as age
2, 4, etc.
Some need grief work like:
Lost "childhood".
Some can't remember but have the pain from childhood.
Stuff feelings from childhood
Some are living in negative tapes and past anger
Dealing with addictions to numb the pain.
They don't have joy in their lives
They can be consumed with fear which does not go away
Let the feelings of the past
come up
What is going on now in my life?
Living in the present moment
–
From a Lenten Homily, March 24, 2000
Live in the Moment
Today’s Gospel in its story certainly points ahead to Jesus in His Passion and death. And as we read passages such as this during the Lenten season, we are reminded once again that the Church in her Liturgy of the Word gives us an opportunity to undergo a purification, an ever deepening cleansing of ourselves so that we may be a more fit instrument for receiving the great graces which are to be given to us at the time of the Resurrection memorial on Easter. And so all in all, Lent is a time of purification to prepare us for ever-greater gifts of the Lord. It’s a time of self-discipline, a time to renew our efforts to be self-disciplined in the service of the Lord. Self-discipline is an aspect of purification. And I suggest that one of the most difficult acts of self-discipline in the spiritual journey is to concentrate on the present moment. We have a very strong tendency to disregard the importance of the present moment by focusing in a wrong way on the past or in a wrong way on the future. There are proper occasions for thinking of the past and the future. For example, we have to learn from the past and we have to prepare for the future, but our great emphasis has to be upon the present. There is a Latin axiom which says, age quod agis, age quod agis, which means: do what you are doing, concentrate on the present. And of course we are familiar with that term in the history of spirituality: the sacrament of the present moment. And so the discipline of Lent certainly encourages us to include in a deeper self-discipline a greater determination to get as much as we can out of the present moment. People with a terminal illness have an opportunity as they prepare for death for increased prayer, contrition, love of God. However, some are taken very, very quickly. But for those who have the opportunity of knowing with some certainty the time of their death, I’m sure as they look back on their lives, they are saddened by the many times they did not use time and opportunities for the service of the Lord properly, and are overjoyed at those times in which they did use the present opportunity properly. A great means we have of living in the present properly is a greater focus upon our Lord. For if I have that awareness of the fact I am united with Jesus here and now, why should I be concerned so much about the future or the past? Yes, a great help in living in the present and deriving all the good we can from it for ourselves and others is an ever greater focus upon Jesus, because the more I focus upon Jesus and the more I live with Him in the present moment, the more I am satisfied with the present moment. And so let us in our Lenten activity resolve to grow in that self-discipline - which is very difficult at times - to really live in the presence with the fullness of our being as much as is possible, with the help of God’s grace. Now is the day of salvation. Now is the day of salvation.

R. Accepting oneself –
A child does not abuse themselves
Self - Esteem
Coming Clean
Cardinal Newman said
"... everyone who breathes, high and
low,
educated and ignorant, young and old,
man and woman,
has a mission, has a work. We are not
sent
into this world for nothing; we are not
born at
random. . . God sees every one of us;
He creates every soul, He lodges it in
a body, one by one, for a purpose. He
needs,
He deigns to need, every one of us.
He has an end for each of us... we are
placed in our different ranks and
stations, not to
get what we can out of them for
ourselves, but to
labor in them for Him, as He rejoiced to
do His work,
we must rejoice in ours also."
(Discourses addressed to
mixed congregations)
R. Working the 12 Steps
THE TWELVE STEPS OF AA
Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol,
that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than
ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives
over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human
being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all
these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed,
and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible,
except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we
were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our
conscious contact with God as we understood Him,
praying only for knowledge of His will for us and
the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,
we tried to carry this message to alcoholics,
and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
R. Telling the truth
God is guiding me
Sing: Guiding Me
A dad teaches a boy how to be a man –
the father usually teaches the son
how to treat women
A dad teaches - even when he
doesn't teach –
Look at how God the Father taught
us to treat Mary, a woman.
Look at how Jesus taught us
to treat Mary, a woman.
Mary is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit.
From Tell My People by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.
Jesus: "My beloved friend, tell My people to pray daily to the Holy Spirit. They are to pray for an increase in His gifts. My people must realize that the Holy Spirit comes to transform them. The Spirit desires to transform you more and more according to My image. Those who are docile to His touch become increasingly shaped in My likeness. He performs this marvel within Mary's Immaculate Heart. The more one dwells in My Mother's Heart, the more active are the workings of the Spirit. The Spirit leads Mary to place you within My own Heart. In both Our Hearts, then, your transformation continues. The more you are formed after My own Heart, the more I lead you to the bosom of My Father. Tell My people all this. Tell them to pray daily for a greater appreciation of these wondrous gifts. I am Lord and Master. All who come to My Heart will be on fire to receive the gifts of the Spirit in ever greater measure! I love and bless My people!"
Reflection: The Holy Spirit is given to us to fashion us ever more according to the likeness of Jesus. And the more we are like Jesus, the more Jesus leads us to the Father. Do we, each day, pray to the Holy Spirit to be more open to His transforming influence? Do we strive each day to grow in union with Mary? The greater our union with our Mother, the spouse of the Holy Spirit, the greater is the transforming action of the Holy Spirit within us.
end of excerpt from Tell My People

A man can want power

His biggest fear is she could get

power with a woman –
This is his survival tactic in adulthood
that is getting him in trouble.
How he looks at women
God made them man and woman
Genesis 1: 26-27
God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild animals and all the creatures that creep along the ground.’
God created man in the image of himself,
in the image of God he created him,
male and female he created them.
R. Some of these dysfunctions are so severe, it can
be compared to us having a breathing problem.
Where would we be if we couldn't breathe right?
If not healed.
Some are trying to work out their relationship,
day and night
every where they go,
but they won't look inside.
A cycle of abuse
1) thinking about wrong done to them
2) acting in abuse
3) hang-over from abuse
Like the alcoholic they are:
1) thinking of drinking
2) drinking
3) or dealing with a hang-over
This is the cycle of alcoholism.

Some are in all or nothing relationships
We were created for relationships

It can be a dark altered reality –

Dear Friends,
I give my heart to Jesus and Mary with you in love.
When Mary's image was knocked out what remained was an old grand piano someone who is now dead (old age) gave that was there grandma's. It did not work then.
It was painted and very, very old and I would worry about the legs giving out.
Jesus told me to replace it a while ago.
We had someone come and it never got out of here yet–
Jesus told me to buy a new piano by the alter, behind where Mary's image is to play when we have the services up there.
I can only do this if we have the money He says.
We will begin a fund for the piano behind where Mary's image was destroyed on March 1, 2004.
This is a lasting honor to contribute to this.
Thanks, RitaCall Doris – 513-477-4242

Jesus asked us to finish one room in the priest house, so a priest could stay there. We have been working on this room for 6 months. We need $3,000 for the carpet, shades and furniture. Could anyone help us with a donation for the priest house to complete this room?We have been working on the priest house for 6 years. Jesus would like a priest be able to stay there.

Guiding Light
- Reflect on the Word
Guiding Light homily series - Reflect on the Word - Cycle
B — The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and
reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal
concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a
sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this
day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We
believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as
priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and
Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our
congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand.

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15 | ||

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15 |
Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15 |
