Revelation 21: 1-8
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride dressed for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, Look, here God lives among human beings. He will make his home among them; they will be his people, and he will be their God, Godwiththem. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness or pain. The world of the past has gone.
Then the One sitting on the throne spoke. Look, I am making the whole of creation new. Write this, "What I am saying is trustworthy and will come true." Then he said to me, It has already happened. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water from the well of life free to anybody who is thirsty; anyone who proves victorious will inherit these things; and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the legacy for cowards, for those who break their word, or worship obscenities, for murderers and the sexually immoral, and for sorcerers, worshippers of false gods or any other sort of liars, is the second death in the burning lake of sulphur.
R. God gives us unique talents
God wants us to use these gifts to serve Him
It is evil to be jealous of one doing God's will
Rejoice at the gifts God gives someone to build
His Kingdom
Rejoice in a person's obedience to do God's
will
Jesus: Life goes on in petty pace
Do what only you can uniquely do
praising and loving God and
rejoice in the gifts God has given to
your brothers
Pray in love they do what God wants
with their gifts and love them
pray they use their gifts to help
build the Kingdom
Philippians 3: 20-21
"But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the working of the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery."
John 14: 1-7
Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You trust in God, trust also in me.
In my Fathers house
there are many places to live in;
otherwise I would have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you,
and after I have gone
and prepared you a place,
I shall return to take you to myself,
so that you may be with me
where I am.
You know the way
to the place where I am going.
Thomas said, Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus said:
Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life.
No one can come to the Father
except through me.
If you know me,
you will know my Father too.
From this moment you know him
and have seen him.
R. When we go to a funeral
We gather to say good bye
We are sad
We loved them
We knew them
This is the biggest good buy we have
God has bigger plans for us
God wants us in heaven with Him
God makes all things new
There will be no more suffering and
tears
St. Paul in the second reading tells
us our citizenship is in heaven
Here we are citizens, but that is
only temporary here in the
United States etc. Our true
home is in heaven
Jesus knew that He would be tortured
and put to death before His death
He knew after giving 3 years of
His life serving and loving them
and it would look like a big
failure He said at the Last
Supper "Do not let your hearts
be troubled, Be not afraid
I am going to prepare a place for
you"
Thomas (the one who would doubt Him
later after the Resurrection)
asked that night
'How do we know the way'
and Jesus gave him this answer
"I am the way, the truth and the life"
Someday it's going to be our turn to
depart this life Jesus says it
comes as a thief in the night
If we aren't prepared it won't
be good for us
Be not afraid
We pray for the deceased
We pray for each other
We pray to our Father
We worship God and we give our
love
We thank You God for those who witnessed
and served so beautifully to live
their vocation and help build the
Kingdom of God
We ask that when we die we will
go to the company of the saints
We pray to God to help us now
to be holy
handmaids of the Lord
to love God and love others with
all our hearts
God is our shelter and our strength
you listen to the cries of
the poor
Oh God help us
Oh God we love You
Jesus: I will be with you forever more
I love you
You are never alone
Trust in My love
Give Me all your cares
I will be with you
Be not afraid
I love you, I love you, I love you
R. Forgive our sins, oh God we are
sorry we offended You
Thank You God for these gifts You
give us
We praise You God
We love You
We join with all of heaven to sing
Your praise
Oh God we love You
Lord You are holy
Lord outpour Your grace
Oh God we want to eat Your Body
Oh God we want to drink Your Blood
Oh God thank You
Oh God outpour Your grace on us and the
world
Oh Father we are one in this Holy Sacrifice
of the Mass
praying in the Holy Spirit
through the powerful intercession
of our heavenly Mother
with all the angels and saints and the
souls in purgatory
united to all here
all praying with us
God we love You
Outpour Your grace for the priests, the
Church and the world
For healing for the human race
For all in the Shepherds of Christ all who touch us
all our families
We pray for all donors, all who touch them
and their families
We pray for all our needs
Amen, Amen, Amen
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Lamb of God
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Sing: Oh Lord I Am Not Worthy
R. Oh Lord we love You
Sing: Jesus My Lord, My God, My All
R. Oh God we love You
Oh God come to us
Oh God we long to receive You
Sing: I Received the Living God
R. Oh God I thirst for You
Oh God I long for You
Oh God You are my all
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus we adore You
R. Oh Lord I am not worthy that you should
come to me
only say the word and I shall be healed.
Sing: A Priest is a Gift from God
R. Oh God I am consumed with Your presence
Oh God my Beloved
Oh God my all
Help us to be one in obedience because
it is God's will
Help us to love God
Help us to love each other
Bend the stubborn heart and will
melt the frozen warm the chill
Guide the steps that go astray
Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit
At the funeral the Church recalls
baptism at that time
because we are going to this
stage of greater life in God
The priest sprinkles the casket
God help us to have hearts soft and
supple and loving obeying
authority
Not to give into satan who tears apart
and wants division
The devil wants people to hold out
in division
But heaven is for lovers and those
who learned the lesson of
giving and taking and unity
here below
Heaven is a reward promised to
those who learned to love
God and others and themselves as the
Father wills
Love more and more as Jesus showed
us
Jesus' whole life was lived to show
us how He was obedient to
His Father's will and He perfectly
lived to serve His Father's
will
Jesus taught us how to be sons
of God the Father
God the Father is the Father of
mercy
We are to recognize our failings
and beg for forgiveness
The devil tells us not to admit
our sins
not to recognize them
not to seek mercy and forgiveness
Sin is not the worst thing in the world
It is the denial of sin
To not be reconciled to God and others
to lie about our sin
to not seek God's mercy
If I am deaf and deny that there is sound
will I ever hear
John 10: 1-5, 27
In all truth I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a bandit. He who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock; the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leads them out. When he has brought out all those that are his, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow because they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not recognise the voice of strangers.
The sheep that belong to me
listen to my voice;
I know them and they follow me.
R. If I deny that I ever sinned how can I
be forgiven
The denial is the unforgivable sin
Not telling the truth
We need to bring our sins to the Blood of
Christ
Thank God for the Mass
Thank God for the priest
God is our Savior
God forgives our sins
Judas did not ask for forgiveness
Christ chose Judas to be an Apostle
Christ did not chose Judas to be a traitor
When we do God's will we do it in love
to serve God to build His
Kingdom, to not be self-centered
serving ourselves
The goal is to serve God to do it
for His purpose
Each member of the People of God has
a share in the kingly mission of Christ
Each must fulfill his role according to
his vocation, talents, opportunities,
and graces.
But fulfill his role he must.
No one but the individual Christian in
question can fulfill the particular role
which God has intended for that individual.
The Christian's quest for holiness is
thus intimately connected with his
response to Christ the king.
The more ideally each Christian responds
to this call to Christ, the more the entire
Church can fulfill her mission
of continuing Christ's kingly mission.
The 3 great offices of Christ as prophet,
king and priest are not exclusive of one
another. Each of them contains the other.
This is so because they are part of the
overall mystery of Christ which is
radically indivisible
What is this mystery of Christ?
It is God's concrete plan of our
redemption in Christ
It is the ultimately mysterious, transcendent
wholy other God desiring to communicate
Himself to us in love.
It is the same God asking for our
response in love
All of this God's gift of self to man
and His request for man's response
all of this is centered in Christ and
mediated by Christ
Therefore, we have the term, the mystery of Christ
Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.
... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.
The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.
At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.
R. In the Church there is the laity,
and Bishops and priests.
There is a corresponding responsibility
of the faithful toward the hierarchy
and all those who directly, share
in some way the hierarchy's
mission, such as the priest and the
religious superior.
Although all the People of God are
called to highest holiness, the religious
state offers special advantages in
the pursuit of holiness to those so called
to such a vocation
In our efforts to bring out the true greatness
and necessity of the lay vocation, let us
not minimize what the Church has
taught and continues to teach concerning
the excellence of the religious state.
We should remember that the special
aids of holiness connected with the
religious state are beneficial to the entire
body of the Church.
For the holiness of religious helps
everyone in the Church just as
religious in turn are helped by
the holiness of those of different
vocations
Colossians 3: 12-13
As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfelt compassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord has forgiven you; now you must do the same.
R. The followers of Christ within the Church
has to expect that he will suffer
from the sinful element which still
remains in the world despite
Christ's redemption.
Part of this sinfulness experienced by
the member of Christ will derive
from the very ones to whom Christ
has entrusted so many gifts, many times
The individual has a free will and
they can choose sin over holiness
even if they are called to a religious
vocation and
thereby give not holy witness,
but can give a self-centered-
selfish sinful witness while
wearing a habit and acting
in this manner as a sinner
instead of a holy witness before men
The Church is meant to grow
more and more into full statue
of Christ down through the ages
If the members cooperate as they
should according to their
respective vocations and roles,
the Church continues to that
extent to die with Christ,
yes, continues to purify herself,
and thus continues to rise more and
more with Christ as she
shares more fully in the life of grace
In this manner the Church grows
in the holiness of Christ
The individual Christian grows
in the holiness of Christ and
not selfishness and self-centeredness
pride of doing one's thing
but serving Christ as the Father
wills, in love
