Mary, Lead Us to Your Son

June 25, 1994

R. It is Mary who held her Son so tenderly.
It is Mary who saw it all with her eyes.
It is Mary who held the lifeless body of Christ.
It is Mary, so united to Jesus, who knows Him so well, who will lead us to Jesus.
I can't do it on my own. I need Mary.
She wants to lead us to her Son.
Prepare ye a way for her Son.
As she delivered Him, she delivers us to Him now.
With ardent devotion, she gives us to Him now.

Mary speaks:

Behold my Son, I bore for love of you, my child, out of such love, through the Holy Spirit. Through me and the Holy Spirit, He was conceived by the Will of the Father for love, such love for you, my beloved children. You are my very own children, too. I beg you, as your mother, to return to my precious Son. Go to Him, little ones. He loves you so. Go to the Eucharist. Receive and eat His Body and His Blood, given for you. Oh, such love for you. You give yourself with Him to the Father. What a sacrifice of love! Go to Mass, receive Him in the Eucharist, the bread of life.

Jesus speaks:

I give you My body, I give you My blood, I give you My life!

R. I am called by you, Mary, to spread the love of your Son. I answer this call, Mary.

Mary speaks:

I am calling you, I am calling you.

R. She is calling us to the Eucharist, to Jesus. He is here with us now. He gives us His body. He shows us signs. He gave His life, we want more. Where is the faith? He was right in the boat and they thought they would drown. He is right in our midst and it is we who do not see Him in our hearts.

We want it our way, not His way. The lesson we must learn about the True Presence is that we do not see but believe it is truly Jesus. "Where you were blind, you now see. Blessed is he who has not seen and has believed." The way to God is through faith.

One of the lessons of the True Presence is that we believe, but do not see.

Exodus 17: 8-13

The Amalekites then came and attacked Israel at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, ‘Pick some men and tomorrow morning go out and engage Amalek. I, for my part, shall take my stand on the hilltop with the staff of God in my hand.’ Joshua did as Moses had told him and went out to engage Amalek, while Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. As long as Moses kept his arms raised, Israel had the advantage; when he let his arms fall, the advantage went to Amalek. But Moses’ arms grew heavy, so they took a stone and put it under him and on this he sat, with Aaron and Hur supporting his arms on each side. Thus his arms remained unwavering till sunset, and Joshua defeated Amalek, putting their people to the sword.

   

Luke 18: 1-8

Then he told them a parable about the need to pray continually and never lose heart. ‘There was a judge in a certain town,’ he said, ‘who had neither fear of God nor respect for anyone. In the same town there was also a widow who kept on coming to him and saying, "I want justice from you against my enemy!" For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, "Even though I have neither fear of God nor respect for any human person, I must give this widow her just rights since she keeps pestering me, or she will come and slap me in the face." ’ 

    And the Lord said, ‘You notice what the unjust judge has to say? Now, will not God see justice done to his elect if they keep calling to him day and night even though he still delays to help them? I promise you, he will see justice done to them, and done speedily. But when the Son of man comes, will he find any faith on earth?’

PERSISTENCE

 

1)   Prayer is answered when one perseveres.

2)   Prayer is answered in God’s way and in his time.

3)   Prayer changes the outcome of events.

4)   Prayer changes the prayer. 

      Perseverance in prayer is essential. We are all aware of St. Monica and how her prayers converted her son, St. Augustine, after decades of praying.  But what few remember is that her prayers converted her husband and her mother-in-law.   Through Monica’s perseverance in prayer she transformed her whole family, and through her son, Augustine, transformed much of the world! 

      Prayer is answered in God’s way and in his time.  I once knew a lady that used to pray every day that she would win the lottery.  When she would lose she thought her prayers were not being answered.  In reality, her prayer was answered.  Jesus was saying, you do not need to win the lottery, at least at this time.  Jesus answers prayers in his way, and in a manner that is best for our salvation.  Winning the lottery for that person may have led to the loss of her soul!  All prayers are answered, but in God’s way, and in his time. 

      Prayer changes the outcome of events.  The battle of Lepanto was a turning point in the history of the world.  Europe was on the verge of being conquered by a Muslim force from Turkey.  The force was preparing to invade Europe.  In the Mediterranean was a large fleet preparing to invade and conquer Europe.  The Holy Father was only able to gather up a small force led by Don Juan of Austria.  Outnumbered four to one all looked hopeless.  The Holy Father called upon all the faithful to pray the Rosary for victory.  Against all odds victory was achieved.  It is from this event that the feast of Our Lady of Victory was inaugurated.  Prayer changes the world, changes history!     

     Prayer changes the prayer.  A little child once had a favorite marble.  When his dad came home the little boy was crying because he lost his favorite marble.  The father, not knowing what to do, decided to pray to St. Anthony with his son.  The next day when the father came home from work, he noticed his son was more at peace than the day before.  He asked his son whether he had found his marble, the son responded by saying, “No, dad, I didn’t find my marble, but that is okay because God made me not want the marble!”  Prayer changes the prayer!
