Prayer for Grace for our Country
Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

R. Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist –
It is the desire of God that He be truly
present in the Eucharist today to give
Himself to us and to receive love from
us.
Jesus in His Divine Perfection while
He was on earth had to suffer for the
ignorance of men and the audacity of
hatred from those He loved so much.
He loved Judas, so much, Judas betrayed
Jesus, Judas was full of pride – Eve was
filled with pride –
Sin is putting yourself before God –
Sin offends God –
Sin is rejecting God for yourself –
God is Divine
God is Almighty, All Good, All Perfect –
imagine dealing with people who
just want selfish recognition and
pursuits before the Divine, Almighty
God that created them in love, in
His image and likeness.
It is suffering to deal with misguided
people who oppose the law of God –
It is suffering to have evil acted
out on you for the evil conquests of
another –
Can you imagine how Christ suffered
dealing with mere mortals that
would not listen and were selfish and
full of pride excusing themselves
for their behavior while they try
to get joy in getting away with
secret evil.
This is God we offend –
What we do to others, especially men
serving God we do to God.
It can be a constant sacrifice to live
with those impudently enjoying evil
and tormenting the righteous.
A peon for a man to stand before God
in pride and games and lies trying
to test God.
Isaiah 53: 4-6
Yet ours were the sufferings
he was bearing,
ours the sorrows he was carrying,
while we thought of him
as someone being punished
and struck with affliction by God;
whereas he was being wounded
for our rebellions,
crushed because of our guilt;
the punishment reconciling us fell on him,
and we have been healed by his bruises.
We had all gone astray like sheep,
each taking his own way,
and Yahweh brought the acts of rebellion
of all of us to bear on him.
R. It is a weight to know the sin in
this world and disobedience
to God – can you imagine how
Christ suffered in the Garden
knowing all the sin –
Can you imagine Jesus suffering as men
put Him on a throne and scorns
and spit on Him –
Isn't that what pride does, put
ourselves and evil pursuits
on the throne above God in
our disordered hearts –
Come to me Lord and Possess my soul –
DISORDER – putting ourselves
before God!
How slow the apostles were to understand
what Jesus was saying –
can you imagine those who
won't budge to listen to
nothing God wants – impudence,
hard-hearted –
Pain – do you know real pain –
There are all different levels
of pain – I mean pain like
Jesus knew for sins and rejection and
hatred by those God loved and
created!
Imagine somebody today that thinks
they know everything and lives
to be smarter than every body else –
Like Eve in the Garden –
She wanted to be equal to God –
In demanding we love our brothers
as ourselves –
God is demanding respect of others –
respecting their life doing the
will of God and not try to
block what God wants of them
through, pride, jealousy,
anger, envy, etc. –
How can we try to block another's
call from God and think
we are living the command
by God to love them –
Isaiah 55: 9
For the heavens are as high above earth
as my ways are above your ways,
my thoughts above your thoughts.
Colossians 1: 13-14
Because that is what he has done. It is he who has rescued us from the ruling force of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son that he loves, and in him we enjoy our freedom, the forgiveness of sin.
Ephesians 6: 12 For it is not against human enemies
that we have to struggle, but against the
principalities and the ruling forces who are masters
of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil
in the heavens.
Romans 5: 6-8 When we were still helpless, at the
appointed time, Christ died for the godless. You could hardly find
anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just
possible that, for a really good person, someone might undertake to
die. So it is proof of God’s own love for us, that Christ died for
us while we were still sinners.
I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.
John 14: 15-18 If you love me From the Prayer Manual
you will keep my commandments.
I shall ask the Father,
and he will give you another Paraclete
to be with you for ever,
the Spirit of truth
whom the world can never accept
since it neither sees nor knows him;
but you know him,
because he is with you, he is in you.
I shall not leave you orphans;
I shall come to you.
Holy Spirit Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit, almighty Sanctifier, God of love, who filled the Virgin Mary with grace, who wonderfully changed the hearts of the apostles, who endowed all Your martyrs with miraculous courage, come and sanctify us. Enlighten our minds, strengthen our wills, purify our consciences, rectify our judgment, set our hearts on fire, and preserve us from the misfortunes of resisting Your inspirations. Amen.
Sing: Come Holy Ghost
Sing: Come to the Water
Say Soul of Christ
Prayer of St Ignatius
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Permit me not to be separated from Thee
From the wicked foe defend me
at the hour of my death call me
and bid me come to Thee
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee
For ever and ever. Amen.
1 Corinthians 6: 9-10
Novena to the Infant of Prague
(to be prayed hourly if possible)
O Jesus, who said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.
O Jesus, who said, "All that you ask of the Father in My Name He will grant you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your Name that my prayer be granted.O Jesus, who said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.
R. Satan is reading you –
He wants you to do his work –
He wants you to oppose what
God wants you to do –
then lie about it to
yourself and others –
more and more selfishness
Matthew 25: 23
His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you are trustworthy in small things; I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness."
R. Do what God wants of you!
That is why we do not waver;
indeed, though this outer human nature of ours may be falling
into decay, at the same time our inner human nature is renewed
day by day. 2 Corinthians 5: 1, 5 For we are well aware that when the tent that
houses us on earth is folded up, there is a house for us from
God, not made by human hands but everlasting, in the heavens. It is
God who designed us for this
very purpose, and he has given us the
Spirit as a pledge.
R. Jesus says
I am the vine -
you are the branches
John 15: 5-6
Sing: We Have Been Told
Ephesians 4: 22-23
You were to put aside your old self, which belongs to your old way of life and is corrupted by following illusory desires. Your mind was to be renewed in spirit so that you could put on the New Man that has been created on God’s principles, in the uprightness and holiness of the truth.
Sing: Veni Sancte Spiritus

It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.
Philippians 3: 8-9 Yes, I will go
further: because of the supreme advantage of knowing Christ
Jesus my Lord, I count everything else as loss. For him I have
accepted the loss of all other things, and look on them all as
filth if only I can gain Christ and be given a place in him,
with the uprightness I have gained not from the law, but through
faith in Christ, an uprightness from God, based on faith,
Hebrews 10: 24-25 Let us be concerned for each other, to stir a
response in love and good works. Do not absent yourself from
your own assemblies, as some do, but encourage each other; the
more so as you see the Day drawing near.
Sing: Our Father Our Father, Who art in
heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Sing: Glory Be
Sing: The Prayer for Union
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my
heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You
work in my heart. Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my
heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You
work in my heart.
Song: Prayer for Union with Jesus
(refrain)
I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart. (refrain)
I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.
(refrain)When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart. (refrain)
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart. (refrain)
Sing: See the Eyes That Look at Mary
R. A child of beauty sleeps and is a comfort
to a parent. A child is beautiful at rest or
playing with stickers and enormous
activity.
I remember caring for the sick children
and worrying with them, sleeping next to
them, listening for their breathing with
asthma or bronchitis – carrying a child
in pregnancy and wanting to see them –
know they were okay, pushing them in
strollers when I was older to keep
them close, put them to sleep, try
to work around them – rushing home
after teaching a three hour class,
just to know they were fine, since I
left.
I remember playing the organ at
Church during Masses and funerals and
hoping they were occupied.
The heart, the mind is so magnificent
in its love and connection, how deeply
I can be connected to God and the saints,
the souls in purgatory, one with the
Mass, the pope and hierarchy, the
priests, people at work, my intimate
friends, the country and its needs,
the world and its blessings and
turmoil – It's all in the mind and
the heart and the soul – It's life –
It's knowing others exist – souls in
purgatory and being one with all this –
God the Father, united to Jesus, in the
Holy Spirit with all the angels and
saints, through the powerful intercession
of Our Lady of Clearwater, Our Lady –
Pretty Mary, Our Lady – Lady of Sorrows,
Our Lady – perfect Handmaid of God
etc. – and united to the souls in purgatory –
Our hearts and minds were created
in the image and likeness of the Divine God.
In baptism we receive a sharing in His
life and our knowing and loving
capacity is elevated. We share in God's
knowing and loving activity – We live the
Christ life – We live life in the Holy Spirit
with Mary at our side –
My Guardian angel is real – God
is always with me.
So I can think about Christ in
the bitter passion, what He suffered
in the agony of the Garden in His
Divine Knowing – I see, I know a lot
but I don't see it all, know it all –
like is a mystery – Even the mysteries of
Christ life from the Incarnation to
His death, resurrection, ascension –
a mystery.
I love to know – to know greater
oneness, to imagine deep connection
in the human heart filled with more
and more grace – His life in us –
Intensity, infinity, I can't
put God in a box – He is infinite and
I share in His Divine Life. So deep,
so open, and I know only a drop
of the whole picture of God.
Clutter – My Son - In Law - fixed my
e-mail so I have an In-Box and a
Clutter Box and then Junk –
Clutter and Junk are definitely not
as important as the In Box –
What do we allow in our heart and mind
that is Clutter and Junk that keep us
from Union with God – insight into the
mystery of being one with God, of being
more into the image and likeness of God.
We are here to grow more and more
in the image and likeness of God to
prepare us for heaven. God is love –
there is perfection in heaven – perfect
unity, love – perfect compliance to the will of God.
There are no deadly sins in heaven.
The deadly sins are darkness, division, chaos,
confusion, clamor.
God is light and in Him is no
darkness.
Fr. Carter wrote a book Response to God's Love.
In the Beginning he talks about
mystery and the interior life of the
Trinity –
Excerpt
from Response to God's Love
by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.
...
In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate
mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden
from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us
briefly look at this inner life of God.
The
Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of
knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent
expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise,
from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in
a perfect act of loving.
At the destined
moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed
himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also
become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God
becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself,
about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He
tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in
the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life
through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through
Christ.
R. Fr. Carter in Response in Christ
talked about the 3 stages of the Church –
Excerpt from Response in Christ

e) Relationship with Members of the Church
There
is but one true Church of Christ. Yet this one Church has three different
states of existence. There is the pilgrim Church, the Church of this world,
composed of members who have received the grace of Christ and strive for its
development. They have not yet obtained the goal of their efforts, as have
the members of the heavenly Church, who enjoy God in eternal happiness. The
Church suffering is an intermediate state of existence necessary for those
who had not achieved the required purification as members of the pilgrim
Church. Although there are these three phases of the Church’s existence,
there is a profound union existing between all the members. All these
members possess the same basic life of grace in Christ, and this common life
establishes the most intimate bonds of love. In our preceding chapter, we
discussed the pilgrim Church. Let us now consider the Church suffering and
the heavenly Church.
The
members of the Church suffering are those who have departed from this life
in an incomplete state of Christian development. Their development is
incomplete in the sense that grace has not fully taken possession of them,
and, as a result, they are yet closed in upon themselves to a greater or
lesser degree. They as yet cannot open themselves out in complete love to
the Triune God in the beatific vision. They must undergo a further
purification, a purification which could have been achieved upon earth with
merit. Now the purification must be achieved with no merit attached. The
pain of this purification is mixed with the certain expectation of achieving
the vision of God. We can hasten the advent of this vision for this people
by the offering of prayers and other good works. Scripture itself refers to
our action on behalf of those in purgatory in Chapter 12 of the Second Book
of Maccabees beginning with verse 38.
The
members of the heavenly Church are those in whom the life of grace has taken
full possession and has reached its completion in the life of glory. Faith
now is unnecessary, as the light of glory gives the human intellect a new
strength and capacity for seeing God face-to-face. While the Christian was a
wayfarer, he received the imprint of the indwelling Trinity as he shared in
God’s own life. Now in heaven that grace-life and possession of God
reaches its completion—the absolute completion is not achieved, however,
until the resurrection of the body. The divine persons give Themselves to
the beatified in a profound union far surpassing that of the indwelling of
the Trinity experienced here below.
This
life of heaven is still the Christ-life, for just as we possess a share in
Trinitarian life here below as mediated by Christ, and exercise this
grace-life as structured by Him, so also in heaven is the mediation of
Christ present. In the words of Rahner, "One always sees the Father
through Jesus. Just as immediately as this, for the directness of the vision
of God is not a denial of the mediatorship of Christ as man."14
And not only does the humanity of Christ unite the blessed to
God, but also, in some way, to the whole of creation. This is merely a
completion of what is begun here below, namely, the union with Christ in His
humanity establishing the Christian in a special relationship with God, with
other men, and with the whole of creation. We have a glimpse, therefore, of
the fullness of life which members of the heavenly Church possess.
The
heavenly Church, as St. Thomas says, is the true Church.15
The Church of this earth and the Church of purgatory are,
each in its own way, reaching out in loving hope for the heavenly Jerusalem.
Vatican II puts it very simply: "The Church, to which we are called in
Christ Jesus, and in which we acquire sanctity through the grace of God,
will attain her full perfection only in the glory of heaven."16
The
members of the heavenly Church can help us in living our life of grace until
we too share its fullness with them. Their power of intercession on our
behalf is but another ramification of the communal aspect of Christianity.
We are meant to help others grow in Christ. We, in turn, are intended by God
to receive aid from others—yes, from members of the heavenly Church, as
well as from those with whom we dwell here below.
Not
only can we be aided by the saints’ intercession, but the example of the
canonized saints can also be of great value to us. They have concretely
proved that full holiness is possible. Such an inspiration is of real worth
when we are tempted to think that Christian sanctity in its higher degrees
is impossible of attainment. Moreover, the canonized saints, in their
diversity, teach us that there are many authentic versions of Christian
holiness. They can be innovators in showing us that there are numerous
possibilities in assimilating the mystery of Christ, although the basic
assimilation remains the same for all Christians of all times. In the
opinion of Rahner this is one of the chief roles the canonized saints exert
in the life of the Church.17 NOTES: 14Karl Rahner,

R. We went to Notre Dame several years
ago – Look at the picture I took –
look at the detail above the front door
and the Saints.
R. We can say it burned, but the detail, the
artistry, the beauty that touched so many
people –
How is the human soul, the heart,
that is ever growing in greater beauty
and love, created in the image and
likeness of God –
A baby is beautiful, sleeping and
awake, in our view or with a
sitter, in my womb or playing
with me in stickers and books –
The more the details of what it means
to have the Christ-life are left out –
or life in the Spirit – the more the
supernatural is left out –
Why we are here is to prepare our
souls for heaven – for eternal life –
for the everlasting life –
We have scratched the surface –
God opens up the supernatural life
to us in baptism.
Life is short and as our bodies
get older, our souls are to be growing
ever deeper in God.
We see that we can't do what
we want to – or get about like
the young, but vision – our vision
should be knowing more and more
how to see through God's eyes –
our life becoming fuller and fuller
in Him –
ineffable –
I love to think of this word –
I love to know, I don't know
it keeps me seeking
July 23, 1999 An apostle is one who lives to serve the Lord. The Resurrection Messenger: God does not want men to live alone, God expects them to
interact in love. Pride is the root of evil. Man wants to be on top above his brother. Jesus died, He rose, He gives sufficient grace for all men to be saved. Our lives must be given as a sacrifice, united to the Holy Sacrifice of
the Mass. We are children of the Father. Those in authority act like fathers, but
they cannot control another’s free will. Sufficient grace is given for all to be saved. We must live as children of the Father, as brothers and sisters. We have been taught to be jealous by those around us. We have been
taught some loving things. Some taught us to be greedy, some taught us to
be suspicious and not trust anyone, some taught us we were unlovable. Parents,
teachers, priests, all those in authority are to model themselves after
Christ. I am the good shepherd. The Ascension Messenger: God must be our greatest love. The devil tries to trick us into thinking someone else or something else
will satisfy us. Many children in addicted homes have used substances or people to handle
their pain inside. Our main focus is God. People here are to help us to be led to God and
to have relationships according to His will. No one can control another’s will. Purity will be found for sinful man in dwelling in the Hearts of the New
Adam and the New Eve, Jesus and Mary. Jesus ascended into heaven. There is grace to set the captives free,
captives being those held in Satan’s snares. Jesus left the Apostles behind to do His work. All must respond willingly. Jesus gave us a free will. He does not
control. All must seek the truth, want it and live by it. When He ascended into heaven, they prayed for the coming of the Holy
Spirit in one mind and one heart. The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles Messenger: What is God’s will for you? Mary prayed for the Apostles and great grace was released. The more we pray in Mary’s Immaculate Heart, the more we pray through
her powerful intercession, the greater the graces released. The Apostles went from fear to fearlessness. We need the Holy Spirit so
that we will be sanctified. Holy Spirit, please descend on Your apostles in the Shepherds of Christ
Movement. Apostles must do as God wants. They do not act to please others, they recognize their calling, and they
act as God wants because they want to please God. This is Jesus’ Movement. If we love Him, we will give Him what He
wants. Jesus wants us to live to serve Him. We must die to jealousy, control, suspicion, lust, unlawful anger,
hatred, all the vices of sinful men. Holy Spirit fill us. The Assumption Messenger: Mary was assumed into heaven. Great advances were made in the Church when Mary was on earth. We must pray through her pure Heart for His Holy Church. We must pray with our whole hearts for purity in the Movement, purity of
the individual members. God’s power is without limit. God’s power can set the captives free. We must rely totally on His might to help us and save us. The more we are jealous, wanting to be on the top, the more we aren’t
learning His lesson. The New Adam and the New Eve give us Their Hearts. We must live at every moment aware of God’s presence. Christ must
live and reign and act in our hearts. Christ is not jealous. The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth Messenger: We need to go through Mary’s Heart. Our hearts are tainted,
her Heart is pure. She is the pure and spotless one. We need to rely on His might. He trusted the twelve Apostles, He
ascended into heaven. Despite their imperfections, the Church grew to how it
is today. From His original chosen men, many were converted and the Church
grew. We must live as St. Paul says: and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer
I, but Christ living in me. (Ga: 2:20) We can’t be living like little babies, pleasing others in wrongful
ways. Our King, our Master is Christ. We learn to please Him. We pray, we realize He has all the power. We must go through the pure
and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Some would count money and file every document to secure everything
correctly. In one moment a fire could wipe out a whole room of money and
organized papers. The strength is in Him. We need FAITH in God, FAITH in His plan and all of us must live as St.
Paul says. Ask yourself, "Would the Christ living in me act this way?" Let us make Jesus the Center of our lives with Mary at our side. Beg
for the Holy Spirit to work in us, plead to the Father, unite in the Holy
Sacrifice at every moment, and pray with consecrated hearts to our God.

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15 |
Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15 |
Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15 |
Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15 |
Guiding Light — The Word Alive in Our Hearts. — Cycle A (partial) Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10 |

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD. — Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10 |
