Micah 5: 1-4
But you (Bethlehem) Ephrathah,
the least of the clans of Judah,
from you will come for me
a future ruler of Israel
whose origins go back to the distant past,
to the days of old.
Hence Yahweh will abandon them
only until she who is in labour gives birth,
and then those who survive of his race
will be reunited to the Israelites.
He will take his stand
and he will shepherd them
with the power of Yahweh,
with the majesty of the name of his God,
and they will be secure,
for his greatness will extend
henceforth to the most distant parts
of the country. He himself will be peace!
Hebrews 10: 5-10
You wanted no sacrifice or cereal offering,
but you gave me a body.
You took no pleasure in burnt offering'
or sacrifice for sin;
then I said, 'Here I am, I am coming,'
in the scroll of the book it is written of me,
to do your will, God.He says first You did not want what the Law lays down as the things to be offered, that is: the sacrifices, the cereal offerings, the burnt offerings and the sacrifices for sin, and you took no pleasure in them; and then he says: Here I am! I am coming to do your will. He is abolishing the first sort to establish the second. And this will was for us to be made holy by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ made once and for all.
Luke 1: 39-45
Mary set out at that time and went as quickly as she could into the hill country to a town in Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now it happened that as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? Look, the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’ Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’

INTRODUCTION
The capital of Assyria was in what is today, northern Iraq. The Assyrian army was powerful and was famous for its savagery. They had destroyed the northern kingdom of Israel and did considerable damage to the southern kingdom. They surrounded Jerusalem and were calling for its surrender. Naturally the citizens of Jerusalem were terrified. We hear in today’s first reading words of hope spoken to God's people by the prophet Micah. The book of the prophet Micah is very short and this is the only time in three years we hear from him. He promises salvation would come out of an unimportant little village about seven miles south of Jerusalem, the birthplace of King David: Bethlehem. This savior would rescue God's people and lead them to peace.
HOMILY
Soon we will begin our celebration of the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. The liturgy today invites us to set aside for an hour from all our busyness and to experience with Mary the wonder of God's coming to us.
Today’s gospel of the visitation is preceded by the story of the annunciation. The angel Gabriel who asked Mary if she would be the mother of our Savior also informed her that her aged cousin Elizabeth, after years of wanting to have a child, was finally going to have one. “In haste” Mary left Nazareth and made the trip of about 65 or 70 miles (probably a four day trip for her) to the home of Elizabeth and Zechariah near Jerusalem. No doubt the youthful Mary was a big help to her cousin in the three months she stayed with her.
To any observer, here was a young girl coming to help out her relative who was six months pregnant. But the Holy Spirit revealed to Elizabeth what was unable to be seen: Mary was carrying within herself the long awaited savior of God's people. God comes to us in simple, ordinary ways, ways our eyes cannot see but in ways that can be seen through faith and the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth wonders how she should be so honored with a visit from Mary and Jesus. We must ask the same question. How is it we should be so honored that Christ has come into our lives, that he speaks to us through the Scriptures, that he feeds us with his own flesh and blood in the Eucharist, that he hears us when we pray (even if he doesn’t always do what we want), that the touches us through the kindness of another.
Sometimes I hear the argument from those who support abortion that we don’t know when the human soul comes into a fetus. Jesus could have been only a few days old, for the gospel tells us Mary went to Elizabeth “with haste” after the annunciation. John the Baptist, still unborn, and Elizabeth recognized Mary was carrying within herself something infinitely more than just a blob of tissue. They recognized the wonderful presence of the Son of God and they were filled with joy.
The whole passage is bursting with joy. Elizabeth was excited by Mary’s visit. John the Baptist, three months from being born was jumping for joy. The Church has taught that at that moment John was set free from original sin and filled with God's grace. Christ came to him before he was born, he was as it were, baptized or christened. Generally the Church celebrates the feast day of a saint only on their date of death, because that’s the day they are born into eternal life. But there are only three holy people whose birthday the Church celebrates, Jesus, Mary and John the Baptist, because they were already in God's grace when they were born. But as Christ came to John before his birth, Christ came to each of us on the day we were reborn through the sacrament of baptism. That should cause all of us to jump for joy, knowing that Christ has come to us, that he has given us his grace and has chosen us to be children of God.
Elizabeth said to Mary “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” The Greek word used here for “blessed” also means “happy.” Mary was happy because she truly believed what the Lord had spoken to her and if you get out your bibles and read what follows today’s gospel passage, you will see how truly happy she was. She sang a beautiful hymn of praise to God, a hymn known as the Magnificat. It is this song of praise that we will use for our offertory hymn. Do we really want to be happy? This is the key, do not doubt God, do not doubt his love, do not doubt his presence, do not doubt his teachings. He doesn’t always do things the way we think he should, and we don’t always know what he thinking. That’s why we just have to trust him. Mary didn’t always know either what he was up to, but she trusted him always and was always ready to say as her son would in his own life “Behold, I come to do your will, O God.”
In a short time we will celebrate the birth of Mary’s son. May we always feel the joy that his birth can give us, the assurance that in Jesus God is with us and God loves us. Amen.

Tell My People
Messages from Jesus and Mary
as given to Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.
Children of Mary
Mary: "My beloved priest-son, how often I have embraced you! How often I have told you how much I love you! How often, at your request, I have held you in my arms as my child. You have told me you realize how helpless you are of yourself, but how strong and secure you feel dwelling in my heart and Jesus' Heart. Your sense of your littleness and helplessness endears you to me all the more. I take you ever more securely to my maternal and Immaculate Heart. Tell all my people of the riches you have found within my heart. Tell them how I place you within my Son's Heart. Tell them that, because of my motherly action, you are now more closely united with Jesus than ever before. Tell my people to come to my heart and draw forth similar riches. Tell all my little ones that Jesus, Who is Lord and Master, bids me to lead all to His Sacred Heart. The more my little ones dwell within my Immaculate Heart, the more I place them within Jesus' Heart. Oh, how I love all my little ones! How I love to bring them to the Heart of Jesus!"
Reflection: Again, let us remind ourselves that we live in the Age of the Two Hearts. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are inseparable. The more we dwell in Mary's heart, the more she places us within Jesus' Heart. Within these Two Hearts, the Holy Spirit fashions us more and more in the likeness of Christ, and the more we become like Christ, the more closely He unites us to the Father.
The Eucharist
Jesus: "My beloved priest-companion, tell My people how I long for them to come to Me in the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the great Sacrament of My love for My people. So many are indifferent to My Eucharistic presence. So many have no real desire to receive Me in the Eucharist. So many have no desire to visit Me in the Blessed Sacrament. How I long for My people to come before the tabernacle and to talk with Me!
"I am offended, many times seriously, by all the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences committed against My Eucharistic presence. I ask My people to make reparation for all this. I especially ask that they often say the prayer of Eucharistic reparation given by the angel to the three Fatima visionaries.
"I am Lord and Master. Please do as I request. My Eucharistic Heart is beating with unfathomable love for My people! Let them come to My Sacred Heart. How I long to take My people to My Heart and shower them with Its abundant graces! I love My people with a tremendous love, and I give them this message with the greatest love!"
Reflection: Pope John Paul II has often expressed his belief in the importance of Fatima. It also appears that the Fatima prayer of Eucharistic reparation is meant in a most special way for the present times

Glorious Mysteries
The Resurrection
1. Jesus: I call you to surrender as I surrendered to the Will of the Father.
He then left to make his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, with the disciples following. When he reached the place he said to them, ‘Pray not to be put to the test.’ Then he withdrew from them, about a stone’s throw away, and knelt down and prayed. ‘Father,’ he said, ‘if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, let your will be done, not mine.’ Then an angel appeared to him, coming from heaven to give him strength. In his anguish he prayed even more earnestly, and his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. When he rose from prayer he went to the disciples and found them sleeping for sheer grief. And he said to them, ‘Why are you asleep? Get up and pray not to be put to the test.’ Luke 22: 39-46
Jesus: I suffered the brutal Passion and died on the cross. I rose from the dead on the third day.
R. Death has no power over Jesus!!
2. Jesus: Such freedom to surrender!
3. Song: A Song from Jesus
4. Jesus: I will take you to the end of the hill and you will jump forever into My loving arms.
5. Jesus: It is in My hot air balloon you will know immense freedom.
6. Jesus: I rose on the third day from the dead. It is through the power of the Spirit that you are transformed more and more into My image and led closer to the Father. The Father loves you so much.
7. Jesus: Amen, Amen I say to you that you shall not falter for as you walk I walk before you and prepare the way.
8. Jesus: Satan wants to confuse you and try to get you to doubt, don't give into satan - Live to be more deeply united to Me. Satan doesn't want you to get close to Me. You must let go.
Song: Little Child
9. Song: Be Not Afraid
10. Jesus said: I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live, John 11: 25
Song between decades: Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts
The Ascension
1. They were still talking about all this when he himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you!’ In a state of alarm and fright, they thought they were seeing a ghost. Luke 24: 36-37
2. R. His enemies were overjoyed when they
locked Him in the tomb.
Death has no power over Jesus.
He rose on the third day.
3. R. He is the Almighty God. He has all the might!
Then he told them, ‘This is what I meant when I said, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets and in the Psalms, was destined to be fulfilled.’ Luke 24: 44
4. Mary: Surrender my children to the burning Heart of the child Jesus for He is full of such love. Pray to the child Jesus. He will help you do the Will of the Father. Ask for grace to do the will of God.
5. R. Out of greatest love for us, Jesus remains with us in His Divinity and humanity in the Eucharist, no less present than the day He walked the earth. We have nothing to fear for Jesus is truly present in this room with us at this very moment!
6. Song: I am the Bread of Life.
7. Jesus: Surrender! Surrender! Surrender! As I surrendered always to the Will of the Father and I was triumphant on the third day and rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven - surrender to the will of God.
8. Jesus: My children, I call out to you to come to the Tabernacle. Come forward! Be with Me! Be there with My Burning Heart that is on fire for each one of you. All power comes from God. Come to My Eucharistic Heart!
9. Jesus: Power! All power comes from ME!
10. Jesus: Sing: Let go, let go, you hold on so tight. To the things that are near you, not ever right.
Song between decades: Come Holy Spirit
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
1. R. Holy Spirit transform us into the image and likeness of Jesus within the heart of Mary. We want to be closer and closer to our Father and know His love for us.
2. R. And they had locked themselves in the upper room and a gigantic wind descended upon them and over their heads there remained parted tongues of fire!
3. R. And they were filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit!
4. R. The fire! The vibrancy! God's love! The Spirit that moves - filling us with love!!
5. R. Come to us O Holy Spirit and transform our hearts from fear to fearlessness.
6. R. Surrender! Don't think about what other people think, focus only on the Father's Will for us!
7. R. How we cry out: Lord! Lord! I will always be there! I want to love You. But when we are faced with a problem, when we are in front of other people, many times, we shrink back afraid to speak out about the love of God. Holy Spirit, fill us with the fearlessness you gave to the apostles when they went out and preached. They were not afraid. Fill us with this fearlessness to see before our eyes the souls that will be lost. You are truly calling us this day to be apostles to spread the love of Jesus' Most Sacred Heart into this hurting world. Holy Spirit come to us and fill us with the fire of the love of Jesus as you did the apostles when they went out into the world and they preached the Gospel fearlessly. Give us the same fearlessness to always stand before you and to operate in this world filled with God's love.
8. R. Holy Spirit transform us more and more into the image of Jesus.
Galatians 2: 19-20
I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me. The life that I am now living, subject to the limitation of human nature, I am living in faith, faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
R. Permeate our being with the fire of Your love, come and possess our soul. Help us to love the souls that are hurting. Help us to surrender to do God's will - in that lies our peace and joy.
9. R. I call out to you Lord to outpour to me Your abundant grace so that I am filled more and more with your grace - I know your life alive in me. Let me know Your Divine Love oh God: Let me know so deeply your love: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is our prayer this day: to ask you to outpour your grace abundantly on each one of us so that we can operate with your life alive in us more and more.
10. R. And He filled their hearts with the grace of the Divine God and they felt the courage that they needed to do the work that the Father had called them to do. For it is in this work that the love of God will be spread throughout the world. For it is truly this job that the Father calls each one of us to: to be soldiers in a hurting world, to spread the burning love of God.
Jesus: Time is so short, My children. Many in this world has forgotten God. My heart was in such agony in the Garden for all the souls in your world today that treat Me with such indifference. It is in your earnestness to spread this message to this world that the world will be a better place through you if you open up your hearts and carry the message of My love to the world today.

From Your pierced Heart the Church was born, the Church You have called me, as a member of Shepherds of Christ Associates, to serve in a most special way. You reveal Your Heart as a symbol of Your love in all its aspects, including Your most special love for me, whom You have chosen as Your companion in this most important work. In a return of love, I give myself entirely to your motherly love and protection. You followed Jesus perfectly. You are His first and perfect disciple. Teach me to imitate you in the putting on of Christ. Be my motherly intercessor so that, through your Immaculate Heart, I may be guided to an ever closer union with the pierced Heart of Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock."
10. The Memorare. "Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but, in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen."
Sing: Ave Ave - Ave Maria
Ave Ave - Ave Maria (like in Conyers)
R. End with Come Holy Spirit fill our hearts
Holy Spirit Prayer. Come, Holy Spirit, almighty Sanctifier, God of love, who filled the Virgin Mary with grace, who wonderfully changed the hearts of the apostles, who endowed all Your martyrs with miraculous courage, come and sanctify us. Enlighten our minds, strengthen our wills, purify our consciences, rectify our judgment, set our hearts on fire, and preserve us from the misfortunes of resisting Your inspirations. Amen.
Sing: Little Child

He was excited and he said to me
Rita, Jesus and Mary gave me these messages
and the whole concept of the spiritual life
is in them
Also Fr. Carter taped these messages and they are available on disc.
He discerned all those
messages until almost the day he died —
He would discern the daily message 4 times and
he wouldn't go to bed until he did —
He lived to put this Movement into motion
for Jesus —
He loved Jesus and Mary so much and he knew They
loved him —
he said Jesus told him this
Here is a picture of Fr. Carter and a quote of Cardinal Bernardin Fr. Carter
used in a newsletter.
Excerpt from Priestly Newsletter 1998 - ISSUE FOUR
Shortly before he was to die from cancer, Joseph Cardinal Bernardin left us these inspiring words about peace: "It is the first day of November, and fall is giving way to winter. Soon the trees will lose the vibrant colors of their leaves and snow will cover the ground. The earth will shut down, and people will race to and from their destinations bundled up for warmth. Chicago winters are harsh. It is a time of dying.
"But we know that spring will soon come with all its new life and wonder.
"It is quite clear that I will not be alive in the spring. But I will soon experience new life in a different way...
"What I would like to leave behind is a simple prayer that each of you may find what I have found—God's special gift to us all: the gift of peace. When we are at peace, we find the freedom to be most fully who we are, even in the worst of times. We let go of what is non-essential and embrace what is essential. We empty ourselves so that God may more fully work within us. And we become instruments in the hands of the Lord."3

‘Disaster for the shepherds who lose and scatter the sheep of my pasture, Yahweh declares. This, therefore, is what Yahweh, God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd my people, "You have scattered my flock, you have driven them away and have not taken care of them. Right, I shall take care of you for your misdeeds, Yahweh declares! But the remnant of my flock I myself shall gather from all the countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; they will be fruitful and increase in numbers. For them I shall raise up shepherds to shepherd them and pasture them. No fear, no terror for them any more; not one shall be lost, Yahweh declares!
Look, the days are coming,
Yahweh declares,
when I shall raise an upright Branch
for David;
he will reign as king and be wise,
doing what is just and upright
in the country.
In his days Judah will triumph
and Israel live in safety.
And this is the name he will be called,
‘Yahweh–is–our–Saving–Justice.’ "

Betty is a handmaid who has prayed in the
China Church for 11 years. To get from her
house to the church she uses a walker and
must go over a creek and a little bridge.
We wanted a little place she could rest
by the Church. We need about $1,000 to
make this happen. Can you help us?

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.
"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.
"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."
- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)
The China Church is over 140 years old
and we pray in there 24 hours a day.
It needs stucco and so does
the community building.
