Sorrowful Mysteries
The Agony in the Garden
R. Let us focus on our interior life. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwell within our graced baptized soul. Let us feel the presence of God. Blot everything out around you and go into the interior of the Heart of Jesus. Through the wounds, we are inside of Jesus’ Heart. He is love. We are warmed and saturated by His love. There is nothing to fear, for He is the Almighty God and we are dwelling in His Heart. Let us dwell in the Heart of Jesus. Block out all of the distractions, all of the worries, all of the cares of this world, all of the blockages that keep us from becoming closer to Him and let Him fill us with His abundant love so that, in this rosary, we will unite deeper and deeper in the Heart of Jesus, filled with burning love.
l. Jesus: My dear ones, Satan is pressing hard on this earth. You are My apostles that I have called into this room this afternoon. My tender ones, My beloved ones, harken to My words here for I am speaking to you. Listen carefully. You must let go and surrender. Let the Father be so close to you. Feel His love in your heart. The more you unite to Me, the deeper your love with your beloved Father.
2. R. Jesus always complied with the Will of the Father. As we meditate on his life, we will see that all through His life He did the Father’s Will, always - always did the Father’s Will. Help us, dear God, to live in the Father’s Will. That our whole lives are focused and pleasing our beloved Father, for it is in living according to His Will that our peace and joy lie.
3. R. Many men this day in their foolishness have forgotten God and in their willfulness they move aimlessly about their lives pursuing whatever they wish. It is in living according to the Father’s Will that we will have peace and joy. We must surrender and let go. Heavenly Father, lead us closer and closer to You, through the Heart of Your Beloved Son, pierced with a lance on Calvary and in this rosary help us to unite with deepest union with the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Jesus came into the world in Mary's womb. It is in Mary that we will unite deeper and deeper in the Heart of Jesus Christ, her Son.
4. Song: O burning heart...
R. Agony of agonies. The agony that Jesus suffered in the garden to His Most Sacred Heart for the indifference, the neglect, for the hatefulness, the willfulness, the sinfulness of man this day. God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son into this world, that we could join in deeper love with Him and look how men have returned this love to God! Look at the creatures on the earth this day and the ingratitude that they give to the Almighty God for all the gifts that are given to them! In the garden Jesus suffered so for this ingratitude and indifference. His Heart of burning love flowing over with such deep love for each of His precious souls and look how men have treated our beloved God!
5. “O burning heart, O love divine, how sweet you are to me.“
R. This is the way that God wants us to love Him, that we sing this song all through the day, that our hearts are on fire for love of Him. He comes and He shares with us His Divine Life. Who are we that we share in His Life in baptism. Look at the way He is treated by men this day as they foolishly pursue such idle pursuits, looking for something to feed the starved soul. On the face of this earth only the love of God will feed the starved soul. How foolish we are in our pursuit, when the Almighty God is present, when He lives in our hearts and is truly present in the Eucharist, buckled over with pain and agony in His Heart - pain that we do not even comprehend, for He saw before Him His entire Passion. All of His sufferings He saw before Him, all the sins of all men, the murder of all the innocent babies in the womb of their mothers, and the sinfulness in this world this day. He is love. He gives us His love. He came that we would be saved, that we love God and love one another. Love is giving. How He suffered in the garden for our sins!
6. R. O burning heart, O love divine. Love divine — what we seek on this earth, and God gives to us His Divine love. His Divine Life. And we treat Him so indifferently!
7. R. Do I know what it is to love someone so deeply and to be rejected? To give and give and give and to love them and be treated with such coldness, or hatred. Jesus came to this earth a little baby in the town of Bethlehem. He came that we would have life, that we would know His love and look how He is treated this day. He is rejected and scorned. He is mocked. Look at the way the people talk about the Virgin Mary! Such great gifts given to man, returned to God with such ingratitude that He sweat blood. His blood fell to the ground. How much agony is that, that the Son of God sweat blood for the love in His Heart for men and the way He is treated by those He loved!
8. “O Burning Heart, love divine. Love divine, how sweet you are to me. I see the Host, I know you’re here to love and care for me.”
R. He cries from the tabernacle: “Can you not wait one hour with Me? Can you not come and help make reparation to My Sacred Heart for all these indifferences and ingratitude of men?” Here is God and He is given such ingratitude by His creatures and He remains truly present in His Divinity and humanity in the tabernacle, no less present than the day He walked the earth. He waits and He outpours His abundant life when we come and we visit with Him. He waits for endless hours in the tabernacle and so few come, so few come to Him and pour out their heart and say, “Jesus, I love you, I love you, I love you.” This is what He wants. He longs and thirsts and waits for our love. The devil has created such confusion in this world in our busy lives that we go about every day without time for the Almighty God. Our every breath and heart beat depends on God. Why are we so blind that we cannot see that in one moment He can take our breath from us! Our life depends on Him, yet we treat Him with such indifference. Many so scornfully mock Him and spit on Him. Look how He is treated this day and He is calling out over and over and over again and allowing me to experience some of the sufferings of His Heart. His Heart buckled over in deepest pains in the garden for love of us and He is rejected, rejected by those He gave His life for.
9. Hail Mary
10. Hail Mary
Scourging At The Pillar
R. Think of Jesus. They tied Him to the pillar. His once unblemished body was beaten and torn by His attackers. He is love. This is how He was treated by those he loved. Think of how it is to be treated scornfully by those we love, but think of how it would be to have your flesh torn and to be beaten by those you loved so dearly!
l. R. They tore His flesh. I see before me the scourged body of Jesus, covered with such wounds, covered with blood. His beautiful eyes, the eyes of Divine Love, look at me and He says to me, “this is the love that I have for you, that I suffered so, but My greatest agonies were not the agonies that I experienced to My body but those that I suffered to My Heart.” In your mind picture the body of Jesus covered with deep wounds, deep, deep wounds. His skin torn from His body. Stand beside Him as you watch them continually beat the Son of God who is already raw from their scourging.
2. R. Why do I not see the great love that you have for me, my God? My life an endless search of seeking love and approval and you love me so dearly, so tenderly. I see before me the scourged body of Jesus. This is the love that He has for us. I do not comprehend and I do not take it to my heart and say, Jesus loves me this much.
3. R. Jesus came into this world a little baby, so lovable. He wants to be loved by us and He wants us to know His love. A capacity to love depends on realizing the love of the Almighty God for us. The more we realize His love for us, the more we will respond with love for Him and for each other. Give us the grace to know you more, our beloved God. How can we love you if we do not know you? We go aimlessly about our lives, so busy for such incidental things, yet our hearts are starving for the love of God, but we do not have time to spend with Him, even a few moments after Communion when He unites with us in such union and imprints on us such knowledge of Himself, but we are busy. How can we be busy when the Almighty God comes and gives Himself to us? How can we love God when we do not know God? How can we know God when we do not have the time to spend with God, to read the Scriptures? How can we know God when our minds are wondering through the Mass - the beautiful Sacrifice of the Mass. Help us God, give us the grace to know and love you more, to not be distracted by Satan and to focus on you. Let us go into the interior of our heart and feel the presence of the Almighty God. God loves us so much. Jesus is truly present here in the Eucharist.
4. R. Let our hearts be bathed with His love. Let us be saturated, deeper and deeper with His life. Let us beg: Dear Father, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, outpour to us your abundant life, your grace, that we will grow deeper and deeper in our graced life in You for to know You is to want so much more!
5. R. I see the scourged Body of Jesus. The body that was scourged for me, the body that was scourged for you, the body that was scourged for each and every soul. How can I say I love God and not love my brother when He was scourged at the pillar for my beloved brother? Give us the grace to know more and more Your love to respond more and more in love of others.
6. Song: O burning Heart...
7. R. Let our hearts burn with the love of God. Let us put aside all of the barriers that keep us from deeper union with Him. Let us trust Him. The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Let us see Him as He stood at the pillar, bound and tied, the Almighty God, that He comes on this earth and He shed His blood for love of us.
8. R. Dear Holy Spirit, move within us. Give us your gifts that we may partake deeper and deeper in Your Divine love and be filled more and more with Your grace.
9. Jesus: Tenderly I love you. I come to you with this tender love. My Heart is on fire and I am rejected and ignored. My beloved ones, you are My apostles that I am calling this day. It is through you that I will minister to this world that is sick and in pain. I call and call and call and My words fall on deaf ears. Who listens? Will you listen to this call? Will you come to Me and join ever closer to My Heart?
l0. Hail Mary
The Crowning With Thorns
R. Let us find such comfort in meditating on the wounds of Jesus. The precious head of our Savior, the Son of God, that was crowned, not with a crown of jewels but with a crown of thorns, pounded deeply into His head and the blood ran down His face, into His eyes and into His ears, His head, covered with blood.
l. R. Let us see the holy head of Jesus, crowned with thorns and covered with blood.
Jesus: Satan is pressing down on this earth. You are receiving so much mental torment which I am allowing so that you may join ever closer to My Heart. Accept your sufferings. Accept the crosses that I am giving to you this day. It is in the cross that you will have deeper and deeper life in Me. I am Jesus and I call out to you, My beloved ones. Come close to Me. Accept the sufferings with great joy for it is in these sufferings that I will unite deeper and deeper to you. Do you feel My presence in these sufferings? Do you feel Me in your life? Do you feel deeper and deeper in your darkest night? Look at your sufferings and gifts given from Me that you will grow deeper and deeper in My life. Surrender, surrender to all that you are given. Quit fighting what I have given to you. I am guarding your every step, your every breath and your heartbeat. I am watching you, My dear ones, with the tenderest, gentlest love. You do not hear, you are bolted to this earth. Release yourselves, know that as you breathe, I am attentive to all your needs.
2. R. Holy head of Jesus, crowned and pierced with thorns, covered with blood! Why is it that I focus on incidental things when you are so close to me? The head that I see tells me of your immense love for me, that you came to this earth and you gave yourself for love of me!
3. Song: Crown Him with many crowns...
4. Song: O burning heart...
5. R. What do we know of the love of Jesus? If we look at Him, His Body, scourged and covered with wounds, His holy head covered with thorns, will we know more His love is burning love? It is not lip service love. It is not love that is shallow. It is as deep and deeper than the wounds on His Body. The wounds from the nails that went through His hands and His feet. What is the depth of His love? What is the depth of my response to God, for He longs and thirsts for our deep, burning love for Him. Let us pray everyday for the grace to love Him more, to love Him with our whole heart, our whole soul and our whole being.
6. R. What are we looking for in this life? We are so foolish. What is life? Life is not life if it is not rooted in Him. God gives us the baby in a womb. God shares His life with us in baptism. God is the source of love and life but many men, this day, have forgotten God. Many men have made this earth their end and one moment God can take our breath away! Life is not life if it is not rooted in Him.
7. Song: I know your love a little now...
8. R. Jesus sat on His throne, the King of all Kings, the Son of God. He came to this earth in greatest love for His beloved creatures and they stood around Him. Jesus was crowned with thorns as He sat on the throne and they spit on Him and they mocked Him and they poked at Him and He withstood all of this. His greatest sufferings were not the sufferings He experienced to His Heart but for the ingratitude and the hatred of His beloved creatures. He came to this earth to save these creatures He loved so much. He loved with a burning Heart on fire for love of them.
9. R. The creatures on this earth - how they have treated God! Let us beg for mercy for my sins and the sins of my brothers. Let us help make reparation to His adorable Heart, surrounded with a crown of thorns, for the way He is treated by His beloved souls that He loves.
l0. R. I think of how it is when you bleed when you puncture your finger or any part of your body. Jesus was covered with deep, bleeding wounds. His head was covered with blood, impounded with sharp thorns, but these wounds were nothing compared to the wounds in His Heart.
Jesus Carries His Cross
R. Jesus stood and many men condemned Him to death. They shouted out, “Crucify Him, Crucify Him.” The mob! The mob! Jesus, the Almighty God, the Son of God, the God of love - and they cried out in their angry voices, “Crucify Him, Crucify Him”.
l. Jesus: You will be persecuted this day for My sake, My beloved ones, but in this persecution you will know the fire of My love and the burning embers that are burning deeply within your heart. Accept the sufferings that I am allowing you to experience and you will unite with deeper union with Me. Do not curse the cross. Thank the Almighty God for the gifts that you are given. I love you. I love you. I love you with the deepest love. I love you and I come to you. Do you hear this message of My love? I am God and I am calling out to you. Do not turn a deaf ear. Open up your hearts and listen. I want to unite in deepest union with your heart and I am here. I am with you. I am alive. I live in your heart. Will you carry a message of My love to the world in your being? My message will go to this world. I live in your heart, My beloved ones. Make your hearts ever pure and let me dwell there. I want to be King and center of your hearts. Surrender, surrender, surrender to the God who gave His life for you.
2. Song: O burning heart, O love divine...
3. Jesus: I am alive, I am alive. I live in the hearts of men. I am with you this day. Surrender and let go and let me work in your heart. I carried My cross on My back. It dug into My shoulder, deeply and tore the wounds on My shoulder, deeper and deeper, the wounds in My Body. I gave My life for you - will you not come to Me for the love that I want to give to you?
4. R. Jesus' eyes peered into the eyes of His Beloved Mother. Such intimacy between this Son and His Mother, such a relationship between them! This is the relationship that He wants us to have - a binding force of our heart being joined to His Heart, a burning love. We must let go of the walls that are around our heart and realize that God is calling out for us to come and be so close to Him.
5. R. Jesus walked the walk to Calvary. He fell to the ground. I see His chin on the ground. How many walks do we walk when we feel that our chin is scraping the ground? The deep sufferings that we endure, but it is in these sufferings that we are brought to greater life in Him. In our darkest night these are the the nights that lead to greater union with Him. Bless the Almighty God for all the gifts that He gives to us, for our joys and for our sufferings. Accept those sufferings that He allows us to experience and endure those sufferings for as long as He allows us to carry this cross.
6. R. Jesus carried the cross. He did not give it up. There was not relief. He carried the cross, covered with wounds and blood, weakened as it became heavier as He walked and He became weaker. Jesus came to show us the way, the truth and the life. Life is not life if it is not rooted in Him. The way is the way of the cross. It is in the cross that we are brought to new life. Our life, a constant dying and rising in Him. Let us expect the struggles that He gives to us this day and beg for the grace to handle it the way He wants us to.
7. R. As Jesus looked into the eyes of His Beloved Mother, His Mother of love, let us realize that she walks by our side, that she is with us at every moment, that we are not alone, that she is mothering us. It is in her heart, through the Holy Spirit, that we become more and more like Him, that she is our spiritual mother to lead us on our journey to eternity. Feel her presence, so close to us. Think of this: she is with us at every second - every second! We are not alone. Let us focus all through the day to realize the presence of the Almighty God within us and to join with our Lady who walks with us on our journey.
8. Song: Our Lady of Fatima
9. R. Jesus fell on His journey three times and our beloved Mother was by His side, always there with Him. Such union between Their Hearts. Let us feel this oneness in our heart with the Almighty God and with our Lady. Let us feel this oneness in our heart here, joined with one another, for as we are one in Him, we are joined in deeper union with each other. We are all created by the Father with a plan - such a plan - that the Father has for us! Each one of us is given such gifts and talents to help in His work. Let us surrender to our beloved Father and live according to His Will for it is there that our peace and our joy lie.
l0. Hail Mary...
Jesus is Crucified and Dies on the Cross
R. Jesus is the Son of God. See Him as they nail His hands and His feet to the cross, as He stood at the pillar bound — this is the Almighty God! At any moment He could have stopped anything that they were doing but He endured the suffering for love of us. Our life paid for with the price of His Blood!
l. R. Jesus' tender and gentle love for us: He spreads his arms and they nail Him to the cross. He hung on the cross for three endless hours. His Body withered, His head crowned with thorns, covered with blood. As we look at the pictures of Jesus hanging on the cross, meditate with our heart, deeply in our heart, on the crucified Body of Jesus. We do not realize the immensity of His love!
2. R. We know only a little of His love. Let us pray more and more for the grace to know more and more His deep burning love for us. (Hail Mary - three times.) We are dependent on Him. Let us surrender and beg for the grace to know Him more. Let us beg for the Spirit to move within us, to know God more. Let us beg for the grace to unite in the Mass, deeper and deeper and deeper, to make each Mass the best Mass that we have ever attended. Let us beg for the grace that the Almighty God outpours to us and that every word in the Mass, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, will mean so much to us. The Sacrament of God’s love. We share in the mystery of His love in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. He comes to us. He gives us Himself. As He gave Himself on the cross, He gives Himself to us this day in the Holy Eucharist.
3. Hail Mary
4. R. How can we be busy when the Almighty God comes and unites with us in such union in the Holy Eucharist and He remains with us for about 20 minutes after communion! We run from the church. How this wounds His aching Heart - that we do not have time to spend with Him!
5. Jesus: My dear ones, come to Me. Be one with me. I give Myself to you.
6. Jesus: Gently and tenderly I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you. Will you come to Me? Become so one in Me and tell Me of your love.
7. R. Jesus gave us His beloved Mother to be by our side, to mother us and to lead us on our journey, to be with Him for ever and ever in heaven, our true home.
8. Song: At the cross, His station keeping...
R. Mary stands by our side endlessly, taking care of us and protecting us. She is the dearest Mother. As she stood beneath the cross and she watched her Son hang to His death, she walks beside us in all of our struggles, constantly taking us closer and closer to the Heart of her Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus' Heart was pierced with a lance; Mary's heart was invisibly pierced with a sword. It is through His Heart that the sacramental life of the Church was born. A light flows through His Heart and we are fed by His Body and Blood. The light flows through His Heart, through the heart of His Mother, into our heart. Let us go to our Mother Mary for she will lead us to the Heart of her Son.
9. R. Mary stood beneath the cross and she held her Son Jesus in her arms as she once held His little baby body when Simeon prophesied the sufferings to come. Mary held His withered, lifeless body under the cross. The Hearts of greatest love. It is in uniting to these two Hearts that we will unite more and more to the one, triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is our goal. This is how we will spend all eternity, in union with our beloved God. Let us go to our Mother, Mary and love the Father more, as Mary loved the Father. Love her Son, Jesus, through Mary's heart. Love the Holy Spirit through the heart of Mary. Ask her to lead us closer and closer to the Almighty God.
l0. Song: I come to you with greatest love...

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15 |
|
Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15 | ||
|
Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15 |
Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life.
