Excerpt from The Spirituality of Fatima
 

August 13, 1917

"Because of the excitement caused by the apparitions, the civil authorities were so alarmed that they kidnapped the three young visionaries and put them in jail. The incarceration period included the day of August 13. Consequently, Our Lady did not appear to the children on this particular 13th. The authorities, fearing reaction on the part of the people, quickly released the children.
 

August 19, 1917

Mary appeared to them on August 19 near Valinhos:

She told them she was greatly displeased by the action of the mayor. As a result, the miracle promised for October would not be as impressive as originally planned. (15)"

                Jesus: My way is the easy way —
                    even in the suffering
                    you are moving in the
                    right direction —

                A person swimming in
                    the wrong direction doesn't
                    get there — even though
                    the current is with them —

                Many a person thinks what, their
                    schedule is first, what
                    they want first, and then
                    like fools, try to fit
                    what they want first,
                    into what God tells them
                    to do — they are putting
                    the cart before the horse —
                    the cart before the horse
                    goes nowhere —

                Doing My will is letting
                    the hot air balloon
                    soar —

                Opposing My will is bolting
                    yourself to the earth —

                I gave a direction — you
                    missed the turn while
                    talking — then you were
                    hungry — you missed
                    your food while talking —

                Then you went the wrong way to
                    get dinner — you went
                    in the wrong direction —
                    miles and miles —

                This earth is covered with
                    possible roads —

                What do you do to block
                    My work — talk, play —
                    make up for it, looking for
                    needed food — pretty soon —
                    your wrong direction,
                    putting off — doing your
                    own thing — leads to
                    My work being impossible for
                    you now, after you did your
                    own thing, time and time again —

                Then you say I was wrong,
                    telling you what to do —

                You did your own will —

                Life is like this — day after
                    day — you do your will —

                You never reach My destination —

                Tomorrow God, when I'm done
                    doing My plan —

                Life is short —

                You can work your plan and say you
                    are doing God's will — when you
                    are opposing it —
                    In the end — everybody suffers —
                    you block them doing God's will
                    many times and
                    you can be going in the wrong
                    direction —

                I am the way, the truth and the life —

                Opposing My way is the wrong
                    way and you do pay for it —

                It's like putting a bag on your head or
                    playing pin the tail on the donkey
                    after someone spins you
                    around —

                The devil spins you around making
                    choices and you blindfold yourself
                    and plug up your ears to
                    God's will for you —

                How does it feel to be
                    in New York when I called
                    you to California —

                Then you get mad and
                    plan some more of
                    your own plans —

                If you run into a truck on the road
                    you can hurt others —

                Life is like this when you are
                    doing your own thing —

                R. So we know we did it our way and then
                    we are in a traffic jam because
                    it was not His way —
                    Then we miss it all together —

                Jesus: When I have given you such gifts it
                    does not fool Me when you put Me
                    off to do it your way —

                Your way causes sufferings many times
                    and blocks others from doing My will —

                The Trinity is one, there are 3 Persons in
                    one God —

                Perfect unity —
                Perfect love —

                I give you grace to see the Father's Plan —
                I give others grace to see the Father's Plan —

                A person that is seeking to control against God's
                    will — can be seeking affections, or can be angry,
                    or envious against what God wants and can be
                    sowing their willful seeds amongst others —

                You do not work alone — I tell you the
                    Plan — I tell you what to do —

                The devil can tempt the person to
                    procrastinate, put off — do their
                    thing, their way —

                Work cannot be accomplished when
                    one does their own will against God's will
                    and does not have regard for others —

                Holding on to others when you should
                    have let them do what God wanted
                    them to do, with the persons God
                    wanted them to interact with, in their
                    lives —

                Being in the wrong place at the
                    wrong time forces others
                    to compensate for your
                    absence and the ones you
                    tie up are also in the wrong
                    place, possibly doing what
                    is opposed to God's will —

                Surrendering to God's will means you
                    don't write your script and then
                    put God in —

                    God comes first —

                How do you judge your life
                    lived opposing God's Plan
                    for yourself and others —

                What the Shepherds of Christ is to promote
                    is working in union — working
                    as one — one body with many
                    members —
                    One will - God the Father's —

                People don't seek God's will first
                    because they want what they want and
                    they want control —

                How can men work as one when all
                    think they should do what they
                    want — This is utter pandemonium —

                In God we trust means —
                    God rules —
                    Men are under God —
                    Your life belongs to Me —
                    You were given your talents to serve
                        Me —

                Who has the power when God rules —

                All men are to be under My feet —

The Father's Will for Us  - Our Source of Peace

  • Pope John Paul II instructs us: "The Church, as a reconciled and reconciling community, cannot forget that at the source of her gift and mission of reconciliation is the initiative, full of compassionate love and mercy, of that God who is love (see 1 John 4:8) and who out of love created human beings (see Wisdom 11:23-26; Genesis 1:27: Psalms 8:4-8)…He created them so that they might live in friendship with Him and in communion with one another.

"God is faithful to His eternal plan even when man, under the impulse of the evil one (see Wisdom 2:24) and carried away by his own pride, abuses the freedom given to him in order to love and generously seek what is good, and (instead) refuses to obey his Lord and Father. God is faithful even when man, instead of responding with love to God’s love, opposes Him and treats Him like a rival, deluding himself and relying on his own power, with the resulting break of relationship with the One who created him. In spite of this transgression on man’s part, God remains faithful in love.

"It is certainly true that the story of the Garden of Eden makes us think about the tragic consequences of rejecting the Father, which becomes evident in man’s inner disorder and in the breakdown of harmony between man and woman, brother and brother (see Genesis 3:12 ff; 4:1-16). Also significant is the Gospel parable of the two brothers (the parable of the ‘prodigal son’; see Luke 15:11-32) who, in different ways, distance themselves from their father and cause a rift between them. Refusal of God’s fatherly love and of His loving gifts is always at the root of humanity’s divisions.

"But we know that God…like the father in the parable (of the prodigal son), does not close His heart to any of His children. He waits for them, looks for them, goes to meet them at the place where the refusal of communion imprisons them in isolation and division. He calls them to gather about His table in the joy of the feast of forgiveness and reconciliation.

"This initiative on God’s part is made concrete and manifest in the redemptive act of Christ, which radiates through the world by means of the ministry of the Church." 13
