R. St. Augustine
was sinful in his early life, St. Monica
his mother prayed for him. Eventually
Augustine's life was reformed –
He ended with a strong prayer life –
St. Augustine was brilliant.
God calls us to change – to be
converted more and more in the image of
Jesus. A person who grew up in a dysfunctional
home can just keep using survival tactics in
their life as they get older and keep acting
out unfinished business because they
do not want to change.
It takes courage to change our bad
destructive, patterned behaviors a person
may have practiced as a child in a
dysfunctional home.
St. Monica prayed so hard for St. Augustine
her son and he led a very sinful life –
but he was converted in the end and
he was brilliant in what he gave
to us in teachings.
A person can live 50 or more years if they
can get away with it and keep acting out
bad habits they developed in their lives
to survive a dysfunctional home life.
A person can be addicted to crisis.
They can be so addicted to crisis that it feels normal.
Being peaceful and normal, as they should be,
they can't hardly stand, so they keep things in chaos
and crisis, upheaval to deal with what is
familiar to them. This way they can justify why
they can be sad and angry and see
darkness in every day life.
If this person has a position of power
to get a job done – they can use it
to try to force this negativity – dark
spirit on others because it is familiar
to them, and joy, happiness, peace,
they may be so dark, they cannot stand –
so they create constant crisis, to
keep problems and chaos.
By creating conflict, crisis, a
leader above them trying to do good work
can be forced into dealing with this
situation day-in day-out and
no growth can happen in the forced chaos
and constant upheaval that is created
by people starting crisis after
crisis.
Mary said at Fatima that Conversion
was necessary.
The deadly sins are sins. For
example a person that lives an
angry life needs healing. The more a
person, with their free will, gives into
creating crisis, the more they move
themselves from doing the work
Jesus calls us to.
God commissions us in baptism
to the building of the Kingdom of God – God
commissions us to go out and spread the
Good News of Jesus.
God the Father loves us so much and
wants us to be holy. We were created by
God the Father to love. We were created in
the image and likeness of God.
God commands us to love God
with our whole heart, our whole soul,
our whole being and love our neighbor
as ourselves. He commands this. We
must obey God's Law or we move
further and further from Him. God is
Light.
Giving into the deadly sins brings
darkness, blindness into our lives.
The more we give into pride and jealousy
and anger, envy, slothfulness, the
more we don't feel good – the darker
our life becomes. The more we
choose evil to what God calls us
to – being in this darkness makes us
feel more and more angry on top of all
the past unhealed anger. If darkness
and conflict is familiar, it is
not a place to stay and live like
this. Healing, conversion, forgiveness
confessing one's sins with a firm purpose
of amendment – is what can
take a person out of this dark cellar,
but this takes God's grace. We need
to come clean of the sins in our
hearts and with sorrow for our sins
make amendments.
God wants us to grow more and more in
the image and likeness of Jesus. This
takes grace and co-operation with
that grace – surrender really wanting
to change and know the unmanageability
of the situation for the person trying to
call all the shots by creating crisis
after crisis so they can live a dark life
in constant chaos –
Courage to heal –
Living the spiritual life with God is
submitting to God the Father's will –
seeking His will, loving His will
and loving as the commandment
says –
Matthew 22:
36-40
‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’ Jesus said to
him, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and
the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your
neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole
Law, and the Prophets too.’
R. A person wanting to serve God must live
or try to live by the Commandments of God.
Every action we perform should have
as our goal eternal salvation –
We are here to serve God and love God
and know God and love our
neighbor as ourselves and by
these means attain eternal
salvation some day when we
die –
We are to live in union with God in our
lives. Live the state where we know
the presence of God living in our
graced, baptized soul. The Father, Son
and Holy Spirit dwell in us and we know this
presence of God in us. We are instruments
as God operates in us. Channels for
God operating in us. We are instruments
of God – His light and love shine from
us because God is in us abundantly.
Song:
R. It is a presence of God is us –
This strengthens us to be living in
the truth. If God is in us our
lives are IN THE TRUTH –
Heaven is being possessed by God,
but we prepare for this here below.
Prayer for Union
with Jesus
Come to me, Lord, and possess my
soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence
with You and let You work in my heart.
I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to
use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all
that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to
die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw
my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling
within me.
I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my
life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to
put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as
You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me
from Your work.
When I worry, I have taken my focus
off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the
promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear
to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me
now.
-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994
R. The more one gives into the deadly
sins, bad habits – it acts like
channels on the top of a mountain
if water is poured from above it
will go to the channel – bad habits
are like gutter balls in bowling –
I used to be pretty good bowling –
we went bowling and now that I
am older I was afraid of throwing
my shoulder out so I didn't swing
like I needed to – and all the balls went
in the gutter – I finally left my son-in-law
fill in.
Remember the story – a lady went down
a street and fell in a hole –
She got up the next day – went down
the same street – she fell in a hole –
the next day she did it again –
same street, but went around
the hole –
The next day she went down a different street.
People who are dysfunctional can keep doing
the same bad behavior "harder" and
getting worse results.
It is hard to change, life - long patterned
behavior, but we can't keep falling
in the same hole we can hardly
get out of –
Who can make another person do
something different? The person has
to want to change – have courage to change –
ask for grace to change –
Nobody can do very good trying
to get somebody else to change.
When my children were two and
learning about obedience they would
test things. I remember telling a child
stay in the kitchen and they kept
putting their little foot over the
wood that separated the 2 rooms.
They were 2 and learning
about free will, but they had to decide
to obey.
A 50 year old person, abused
by someone may have decided to
always be in control because they
were held down and so they seek
the loss of power in fear of
being held - down and abused
again as a child.
They will have a very complicated life
if their goal in life is being in
control, power and NEVER –
co-operating with God's grace –
never co-operating with others –
and creating crisis all their life –
day after day to call all the shots –
WOW, what a trap for them and
others if they have any power in
situation –
I must say it again – I got up –
went down the same street and fell
in the same hole and could hardly
get out of the hole - too –
Go down a different path –
one that leads to light and love
and co-operation and unity
and peace – PREPARE for HEAVEN
