Sirach 3: 17-18, 20, 28-29

My child, be gentle in carrying out your business,
and you will be better loved than a lavish giver.
The greater you are, the more humbly you should behave,
   and then you will find favour with the Lord;
for great though the power of the Lord is,
he accepts the homage of the humble.

For the disease of the proud there is no cure,
since an evil growth has taken root there.
The heart of the sensible will reflect on parables,
an attentive ear is the sage's dream.

If we are all full of ourselves — there
is no room for God to enter our hearts —

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

Humility opens a door to the other virtues —

The first sin was a sin of pride —

Eve was tempted by satan to think she could be equal
                    to the Creator —

                Jesus said

"Learn from me I am meek and humble
                        of heart"

                Sing: Whatsoever You Do

                2 kinds of pride

                    (1) healthy pride — we are modest about
the gifts God has given us —
we are grateful for God's gifts —
we share our gifts with others —

                    (2) unhealthy pride —

The person tries to convince everybody they
are perfect — they look down on others —
they think others aren't as good as them —
they think they can do it themselves not
realizing their dependence on God and others —
They think they don't need anybody.

                2 kinds of humility

                    (1) unhealthy kind —

                        we say negative things about
                        ourselves and we wish others
will come back and tell us
                        good things about ourselves
                        putting ourselves down

                    (2) healthy humility

                        the truth —
                        God gives us gifts
we recognize our gifts from God —
                        we recognize our weaknesses —

We can have our focus on problems
and things we cannot control —

God is calling us to do our best —
to obey His will — to know problems
and to pray and trust He will answer
                our prayers —

We want to hold onto things here,
                people, possessions, worldly
                attachments —

our motives are to be pure —

we are praying for people because
                we deeply love them —

Jesus wants souls in heaven with
Him — Jesus died for all our sins, for
                all of us

We must deeply love — we do what
God wants for His honor and glory —
we are one with Him — others
                may misunderstand, think bad
                things because of the human
condition — We should not be attached to
what people think — we must do what
God is calling us to — to promote His
Kingdom, to do His will in love —
We are in a process — going to our
                eternal destiny —

The more we spread the prayer chapters
in the different languages — the
more prayers we will get for the
priests, the Church and the world —
We make this a top priority —

Spreading the Apostles of the Eucharistic
                Heart of Jesus —

                Having faith —
                Having hope —
                Loving —

                Humility seeking the truth about
ourselves — being holy as God
                    wants

St. Paul preached the cross of Christ —
                    Death/Resurrection the pascal mystery.

He said "The message of the cross is complete
absurdity to those who are headed
for ruin, but to us, who are
experiencing salvation it is the power
                of God"  1 Corinthians 1:18

We must not want to be something
God does not want us to be and want
what God wants us to be —

Doing whatever it is God wants —
it may be little things we don't do
trying to do what we can to prove how
great we are for vain glory —

Seek virtue — to be holy and seek
perfection — pray for virtue —
                practice virtue —
                when tested practice virtue —
with a big heart like the Heart of
Jesus — be about the things of the Lord.

                We must love —
                We must be humble —
We must do the will of God with love —
Do God's will all the time —
Seek it — want it —

1 Corinthians 2: 1-5

Now when I came to you, brothers, I did not come with any brilliance of oratory or wise argument to announce to you the mystery of God. I was resolved that the only knowledge I would have while I was with you was knowledge of Jesus, and of him as the crucified Christ. I came among you in weakness, in fear and great trembling and what I spoke and proclaimed was not meant to convince by philosophical argument, but to demonstrate the convincing power of the Spirit, so that your faith should depend not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

Next week we are reading from Luke —

Luke 4: 16-30

He came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day as he usually did. He stood up to read, and they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll he found the place where it is written:

The spirit of the Lord is on me,
    for he has anointed me
to bring the good news to the afflicted.
    He has sent me
        to proclaim liberty to captives,
    sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
to proclaim a year of favour
        from the Lord.

He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to speak to them, ‘This text is being fulfilled today even while you are listening.’ And he won the approval of all, and they were astonished by the gracious words that came from his lips.

They said, ‘This is Joseph’s son, surely?’ But he replied, ‘No doubt you will quote me the saying, “Physician, heal yourself,” and tell me, “We have heard all that happened in Capernaum, do the same here in your own country.” ’ And he went on, ‘In truth I tell you, no prophet is ever accepted in his own country.

There were many widows in Israel, I can assure you, in Elijahs day, when heaven remained shut for three years and six months and a great famine raged throughout the land, but Elijah was not sent to any one of these: he was sent to a widow at Zarephath, a town in Sidonia. And in the prophet Elishas time there were many suffering from virulent skin-diseases in Israel, but none of these was cured—only Naaman the Syrian.

When they heard this everyone in the synagogue was enraged. They sprang to their feet and hustled him out of the town; and they took him up to the brow of the hill their town was built on, intending to throw him off the cliff, but he passed straight through the crowd and walked away.

Jesus was without honor in His own town —

1 Corinthians 2: 10-16

to us, though, God has given revelation through the Spirit, for the Spirit explores the depths of everything, even the depths of God. After all, is there anyone who knows the qualities of anyone except his own spirit, within him; and in the same way, nobody knows the qualities of God except the Spirit of God. Now, the Spirit we have received is not the spirit of the world but God’s own Spirit, so that we may understand the lavish gifts God has given us. And these are what we speak of, not in the terms learnt from human philosophy, but in terms learnt from the Spirit, fitting spiritual language to spiritual things. The natural person has no room for the gifts of God’s Spirit; to him they are folly; he cannot recognise them, because their value can be assessed only in the Spirit. The spiritual person, on the other hand, can assess the value of everything, and that person’s value cannot be assessed by anybody else. For: who has ever known the mind of the Lord? Who has ever been his adviser? But we are those who have the mind of Christ.

Our happiness is in God —
                    Not in any man —
                    We must thank God and
Petition Him for our needs —
                    He is the "higher power"

The only remedy for the world is to
return to the love of God —
God created us to love Him —
God gave us the Blue Books
                        and these writings —
                        Personal love letters from God.

When we know God loves us —
                        we will be happy —
God created us for this —
Love of God — love of
                        others as ourselves —

We love God through faith and hope —
                We believe in Him —
                We trust in Him —

Faith opens our eyes to the truth —
We want to live because we see
                    clearly the Father's Plan —
We hope for eternal life —
We will have the fullness of life
if we go to heaven —
We will have happiness forever —
                We hope for this —
                Despair brings - unhappiness —
                Hope brings happiness —
The man who hopes in God
                    here below knows happiness —

                Judas did not really know
God's love — He was sneaky
                    attached to money —
Judas thought he knew more than Jesus —

                Judas despaired —

                God wants relationship

                God wants a personal relationship
                    with us
                A TWO WAY STREET

We love Him because of our
will to love Him and the
                        grace God gives us —

                    God first loved us —

                Relationship with others —
give and take in love —
helps us grow in our love
of God — it teaches us about
                    selfless love

God loves us so much —
He gives us such love —

Look at how Adam and Eve rebelled
against God's love given to them —
                    how foolish —
to try to be over or equal to God

Man is to have friendship with God —

The Blue Books teach us this

A Prayer before the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

Let me be a holy sacrifice and unite with God in the sacrament of His greatest love.

I want to be one in Him in this act of love, where He gives Himself to me and I give myself as a sacrifice to Him. Let me be a holy sacrifice as I become one with Him in this my act of greatest love to Him.

Let me unite with Him more, that I may more deeply love Him. May I help make reparation to His adorable Heart and the heart of His Mother, Mary. With greatest love, I offer myself to You and pray that You will accept my sacrifice of greatest love. I give myself to You and unite in Your gift of Yourself to me. Come and possess my soul.

Cleanse me, strengthen me, heal me. Dear Holy Spirit act in the heart of Mary to make me more and more like Jesus.

Father, I offer this my sacrifice, myself united to Jesus in the Holy Spirit to You. Help me to love God more deeply in this act of my greatest love.

Give me the grace to grow in my knowledge, love and service of You and for this to be my greatest participation in the Mass. Give me the greatest graces to love You so deeply in this Mass, You who are so worthy of my love.

-Mass Book, December 27, 1995

Love abounds in the world —
                Love reaches to others —
Love is like ripples on a pond —
                Love gives —
                Love is selfless

Definition of Love

The definition of love used by Father Carter is as follows.

Love is the gift of self to promote the true good of those loved. He states the reception of love is the receiving of the gift of the other, so my good will be promoted.

                We can only find peace,
joy and rest in the love of
God and love of men —

Love builds the Kingdom of God
                Love builds the world —

The Mission of the Shepherds of Christ — to
                    spread these love letters
of Jesus to a hungry world —

The tranquility of order is peace —
Order and peace depend on wisdom —
We must pray to God for wisdom —
                            pray to the Holy Spirit

From Tell My People

The Holy Spirit

Jesus: "My beloved friend, tell My people to pray daily to the Holy Spirit. They are to pray for an increase in His gifts. My people must realize that the Holy Spirit comes to transform them. The Spirit desires to transform you more and more according to My image. Those who are docile to His touch become increasingly shaped in My likeness. He performs this marvel within Mary's Immaculate Heart. The more one dwells in My Mother's Heart, the more active are the workings of the Spirit. The Spirit leads Mary to place you within My own Heart. In both Our Hearts, then, your transformation continues. The more you are formed after My own Heart, the more I lead you to the bosom of My Father. Tell My people all this. Tell them to pray daily for a greater appreciation of these wondrous gifts. I am Lord and Master. All who come to My Heart will be on fire to receive the gifts of the Spirit in ever greater measure! I love and bless My people!"

Reflection: The Holy Spirit is given to us to fashion us ever more according to the likeness of Jesus. And the more we are like Jesus, the more Jesus leads us to the Father. Do we, each day, pray to the Holy Spirit to be more open to His transforming influence? Do we strive each day to grow in union with Mary? The greater our union with our Mother, the spouse of the Holy Spirit, the greater is the transforming action of the Holy Spirit within us.

There must be wisdom and love
for the world to grow —
                    as the Father wants —

                With love and wisdom man
                    turns from selfishness,

Focusing on one's ego leads to
                    selfishness —

                God's Plan is to
                    build His Kingdom —

All man must do is give Himself
in love — first to God —
                    then to others —

God, in His generosity gives us
a sharing in His life —

We can have friendship with God —
                Be close to Him —
                Love Him

                Justice brings happiness —
                Injustice brings unhappiness —
                Justice gives us the opportunity

                    God - in love - selflessly —

                St. Thomas says
                    The irreligious man is
out of order in the universe —

                God intends us to practice
                    our faith and build His
                    Kingdom — praising and
                    thanking, honoring and

Man is created to praise, reverence and serve God
our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.

among men and peace and order

                Wisdom and Justice —

We are to be strong — pray
                    for fortitude —

We are to persevere in the Father's
                    Plan for us —

We must love what is good —
We must love what is right —
To help build the Kingdom of God —

                We must control ourselves —
have the virtue of temperance —

We are to be pure like Mary —
It is important to put our

Excerpt from Response in Christ by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

e) Relationship with Members of the Church

There is but one true Church of Christ. Yet this one Church has three different states of existence. There is the pilgrim Church, the Church of this world, composed of members who have received the grace of Christ and strive for its development. They have not yet obtained the goal of their efforts, as have the members of the heavenly Church, who enjoy God in eternal happiness. The Church suffering is an intermediate state of existence necessary for those who had not achieved the required purification as members of the pilgrim Church. Although there are these three phases of the Church’s existence, there is a profound union existing between all the members. All these members possess the same basic life of grace in Christ, and this common life establishes the most intimate bonds of love. In our preceding chapter, we discussed the pilgrim Church. Let us now consider the Church suffering and the heavenly Church.

The members of the Church suffering are those who have departed from this life in an incomplete state of Christian development. Their development is incomplete in the sense that grace has not fully taken possession of them, and, as a result, they are yet closed in upon themselves to a greater or lesser degree. They as yet cannot open themselves out in complete love to the Triune God in the beatific vision. They must undergo a further purification, a purification which could have been achieved upon earth with merit. Now the purification must be achieved with no merit attached. The pain of this purification is mixed with the certain expectation of achieving the vision of God. We can hasten the advent of this vision for this people by the offering of prayers and other good works. Scripture itself refers to our action on behalf of those in purgatory in Chapter 12 of the Second Book of Maccabees beginning with verse 38.

The members of the heavenly Church are those in whom the life of grace has taken full possession and has reached its completion in the life of glory. Faith now is unnecessary, as the light of glory gives the human intellect a new strength and capacity for seeing God face-to-face. While the Christian was a wayfarer, he received the imprint of the indwelling Trinity as he shared in God’s own life. Now in heaven that grace-life and possession of God reaches its completion—the absolute completion is not achieved, however, until the resurrection of the body. The divine persons give Themselves to the beatified in a profound union far surpassing that of the indwelling of the Trinity experienced here below.

This life of heaven is still the Christ-life, for just as we possess a share in Trinitarian life here below as mediated by Christ, and exercise this grace-life as structured by Him, so also in heaven is the mediation of Christ present. In the words of Rahner, "One always sees the Father through Jesus. Just as immediately as this, for the directness of the vision of God is not a denial of the mediatorship of Christ as man."14 And not only does the humanity of Christ unite the blessed to God, but also, in some way, to the whole of creation. This is merely a completion of what is begun here below, namely, the union with Christ in His humanity establishing the Christian in a special relationship with God, with other men, and with the whole of creation. We have a glimpse, therefore, of the fullness of life which members of the heavenly Church possess.

The heavenly Church, as St. Thomas says, is the true Church.15 The Church of this earth and the Church of purgatory are, each in its own way, reaching out in loving hope for the heavenly Jerusalem. Vatican II puts it very simply: "The Church, to which we are called in Christ Jesus, and in which we acquire sanctity through the grace of God, will attain her full perfection only in the glory of heaven."16

The members of the heavenly Church can help us in living our life of grace until we too share its fullness with them. Their power of intercession on our behalf is but another ramification of the communal aspect of Christianity. We are meant to help others grow in Christ. We, in turn, are intended by God to receive aid from others—yes, from members of the heavenly Church, as well as from those with whom we dwell here below.

Not only can we be aided by the saints’ intercession, but the example of the canonized saints can also be of great value to us. They have concretely proved that full holiness is possible. Such an inspiration is of real worth when we are tempted to think that Christian sanctity in its higher degrees is impossible of attainment. Moreover, the canonized saints, in their diversity, teach us that there are many authentic versions of Christian holiness. They can be innovators in showing us that there are numerous possibilities in assimilating the mystery of Christ, although the basic assimilation remains the same for all Christians of all times. In the opinion of Rahner this is one of the chief roles the canonized saints exert in the life of the Church.17

Glorious Mysteries

                Resurrection

                (1) John 20: 17

Jesus said to her, 'Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to the brothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'

                (2) Jesus appeared to Mary Magdala.

                (3) Jesus appeared to the Disciples.

John 20: 20

and, after saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord,

                (4) Jesus appeared and Thomas was
                    with them.

                (5) Jesus appeared to the 7 Disciples —
Jesus appeared at the Sea of Tiberius.

                (6) John 21: 15-19

When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these others do?’ He answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’ A second time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ He replied, ‘Yes, Lord, you know I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Look after my sheep.’ Then he said to him a third time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was hurt that he asked him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and said, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.

                (7) John 21: 25

There was much else that Jesus did; if it were written down in detail, I do not suppose the world itself would hold all the books that would be written.

                (8) Peter was the leading member
                    of the 12.

                (9) Luke wrote the Acts -

                (10) The Acts go from the resurrection
of Jesus to Paul's first Roman
                    imprisonment —

                The Ascension

                (1) Acts 1: 6-9

  1. Now having met together, they asked him, 'Lord, has the time come for you to restore the kingdom to Israel?' He replied, 'It is not for you to know times or dates that the Father has decided by his own authority, but you will receive the power of the Holy Spirit which will come on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and indeed to earth's remotest end.'

As he said this he was lifted up while they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.

                (2) During the time between
                    Ascension and Pentecost
                    St. Matthias was elected
                    as an apostle.

                (3) John 15: 16

You did not choose me,
no, I chose you;
and I commissioned you
to go out and to bear fruit,
fruit that will last;
so that the Father will give you
anything you ask him in my name.

                (4) First Message from the angel at Fatima

"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You!
I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe,
do not adore, do not hope and do not love You."

                (5) We pray these prayers for the priests,
the Church and the world as
                    Jesus directed Fr. Carter.

Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles

                (1) Acts 2: 1-4

  1. When Pentecost day came round, they had all met together, when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves.

                (2) From Tell My People

                (3) Sing: Veni Sanctu Spiritus

                (4) Sing: Come Holy Ghost

                (5) From the Holy Spirit Novena

Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts

Come Holy Spirit, come, come into our hearts, inflame all people with the fire of Your love.

Leader: Send forth Your Spirit and all will be reborn.
All:  And You will renew the face of the earth.

We pray for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask for perfection in our souls to make us holy, holy souls likened to God.

Dear Holy Spirit, we give ourselves to You soul and body. We ask You to give us the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

                (6) Sing: Taste and See the Goodness of the Lord

                (7) John 16: 5-11

but now I am going to the one
   who sent me.
Not one of you asks,
    ‘Where are you going?’
Yet you are sad at heart
because I have told you this.
Still, I am telling you the truth:
it is for your own good that I am going,
because unless I go,
the Paraclete will not come to you;
but if I go,
I will send him to you.
And when he comes,
he will show the world how wrong it was,
about sin,
and about who was in the right,
and about judgement:
about sin:
in that they refuse to believe in me;
about who was in the right:
in that I am going to the Father
and you will see me no more;
about judgement:
in that the prince of this world
    is already condemned.

                (8) John 16: 12-15

I still have many things to say to you
but they would be too much for you
    to bear now.
However, when the Spirit of truth comes
he will lead you to the complete truth,
since he will not be speaking
    of his own accord,
but will say only what he has been told;
and he will reveal to you
    the things to come.
He will glorify me,
since all he reveals to you
will be taken from what is mine.
Everything the Father has is mine;
that is why I said:
all he reveals to you
will be taken from what is mine.

                (9) John 16: 16-24

In a short time you will no longer see me,
and then a short time later
        you will see me again.

Then some of his disciples said to one another, ‘What does he mean, "In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again," and, "I am going to the Father"? What is this "short time"? We don’t know what he means.’ Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, so he said, ‘You are asking one another what I meant by saying, "In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again."

‘In all truth I tell you,
you will be weeping and wailing
         while the world will rejoice;
         you will be sorrowful,
but your sorrow will turn to joy.
          A woman in childbirth suffers,
         because her time has come;
but when she has given birth to the child
            she forgets the suffering
in her joy that a human being
has been born into the world.
So it is with you: you are sad now,
but I shall see you again,
and your hearts will be full of joy,
and that joy no one shall take from you.
          When that day comes,
you will not ask me any questions.
In all truth I tell you,
anything you ask from the Father
he will grant in my name.
Until now you have not asked
            anything in my name.
        Ask and you will receive,
and so your joy will be complete.

                (10) John 16: 25-33

I have been telling you these things
        in veiled language.
        The hour is coming
when I shall no longer speak to you
            in veiled language
but tell you about the Father
            in plain words.
         When that day comes
         you will ask in my name;
         and I do not say
that I shall pray to the Father for you,
because the Father himself loves you
         for loving me,
and believing that I came from God.
          I came from the Father
and have come into the world
and now I am leaving the world
            to go to the Father.’

His disciples said, ‘Now you are speaking plainly and not using veiled language. Now we see that you know everything and need not wait for questions to be put into words; because of this we believe that you came from God.’ Jesus answered them:

         Do you believe at last?
         Listen; the time will come—
             indeed it has come already—
when you are going to be scattered,
             each going his own way
         and leaving me alone.
And yet I am not alone,
because the Father is with me.
I have told you all this
so that you may find peace in me.
In the world you will have hardship,
         but be courageous:
         I have conquered the world.

May 13, 1917

"Do not be afraid, I will do you no harm..... I am from Heaven.

"I have come to ask you to come here for six months in succession, on the 13th day, at the same hour. Later on, I will tell you who I am and what I want

"Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you, as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners?

"Pray the Rosary every day in order to obtain peace for the world, and the end of the war." (8)

"God wishes you to remain in the world for some time because He wants to use you to establish in the world the devotion to my Immaculate Heart. I promise salvation to those who embrace it, and their souls will be loved by God as flowers placed by myself to adorn His throne." (10)

                (5) Mary gave this message
                    July 13, 1917 at Fatima.

Excerpts from The Spirituality of Fatima

by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

July 13, 1917

"During her appearance in July, Our Lady, in answer to Lucia's plea, promised that in October she would work a great miracle so that all might believe and know who she was. Again, the Mother of God told the children to sacrifice themselves for sinners and to say many times, especially when making a sacrifice, this prayer: "O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of poor sinners, and in reparation for all the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary." (11)

"During this same July apparition, Mary showed the three children a vision of Hell. She told them:

"You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish, in the world, devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If people do what I tell you, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.

"The war (World War I, then raging) is going to end. But if people do not stop offending God, another and worse one will begin in the reign of Pius XI. When you shall see a night illuminated by an unknown light [January 2, 1938], know that this is the great sign that God gives you that He is going to punish the world for its many crimes by means of war, hunger, and persecution of the Church and the Holy Father. (12)

"To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation on the five first Saturdays. If my requests are granted, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. If not, she will scatter her errors throughout the world, provoking wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and various nations will be destroyed....

"But in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph, the Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, Russia will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world." (13)

September 13, 1917

More than 30,000 people were present in September, and saw a shower of mysterious white petals fall to within 10 feet of the ground before dissolving into the air. Many also saw the globe of light bearing the Lady come to rest atop the tree, and the branches bend as though someone were standing on them. Later, they saw the cloud depart into the east, from whence it had come.(16)

Excerpts from The Spirituality of Fatima

by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

October 13, 1917

I am the Lady of the Rosary. I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and to ask pardon for their sins. They must not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already too grievously offended by the sins of men. People must say the Rosary. Let them continue saying it every day.(17)

While the people in attendance were beholding the great Miracle of the Sun, the three young visionaries, and they alone, were privileged to see striking visions in the heavens:

As Our Lady had promised, St. Joseph had come with the Holy Family and had blessed the world. Then, Our Lady appeared as the Mother of Sorrows, accompanied by her Divine Son, Who also blessed the world. Finally, Lucy had seen the Blessed Virgin, dressed in the brown robes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, crowned as Queen of Heaven and Earth, holding a brown Scapular in her hand, with her infant Son upon her knee. However, in none of these visions had any of the figures spoken to the children. (18)

Excerpts from The Spirituality of Fatima

by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

October 13, 1917

On October 13, 1917, there were more than 70,000 people gathered in the Cova da Iria in Fatima, Portugal. They had come to observe a miracle which had been foretold by the Blessed Virgin to three young visionaries: Lucia dos Santos, and her two cousins, Jacinta and Francisco Marto. (1) Shortly after noon, Our Lady appeared to the three visionaries:

As the Lady was about to leave, she pointed to the sun. Lucy excitedly repeated the gesture, and the people looked into the sky. The rain had ceased, the clouds parted, and the sun shone forth, but not in its usual brilliance. Instead, it appeared like a silver disc, pale as the moon, at which all could gaze without straining their eyes. Suddenly, impelled by some mysterious force, the disc began to whirl in the sky, casting off great shafts of multicolored light. Red, green, blue, yellow, violet—the enormous rays shot across the sky at all angles, lighting up the entire countryside for many miles around, but particularly the upturned faces of those 70,000 spellbound people.

After a few moments the wonder stopped, but resumed again a second and a third time—three times in all—within about 12 minutes. It seemed that the whole world was on fire, with the sun spinning at a greater speed each time.

Then a gasp of terror rose from the crowd, for the sun seemed to tear itself from the heavens and come crashing down upon the horrified multitude.... Just when it seemed that the ball of fire would fall upon and destroy them, the miracle ceased, and the sun resumed its normal place in the sky, shining forth as peacefully as ever.

When the people arose from the ground, cries of astonishment were heard on all sides. Their clothes, which had been soaking wet and muddy, now were clean and dry. Many of the sick and crippled had been cured of their afflictions. (2)

Mary's Message
from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.

I am Mary, your Mother. I do not appear as I once appeared to you. I am asking you today to circulate my message given on a tape on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, 1996. Please circulate this tape now. Give it to as many people as you can. I am Mary, your Mother. Please circulate my Rosary Book.

These messages were given to reveal insights into His most intimate love. My appearance in Florida and the Shepherds of Christ Movement must be connected. Please work with great fervor to spread my messages and the message of my Son from this location. Do not be afraid. The China Church is over 140 years old

and we pray in there 24 hours a day.

It needs stucco and so does

the community building.

Can you please help us?

Likewise the priest house

is 150 years old.

Jesus told us to repair it

which we have been doing.

We need $13,000.00 for this work.
