                Today's Readings

1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18

We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. We can tell you this from the Lord’s own teaching, that we who are still alive for the Lord’s coming will not have any advantage over those who have fallen asleep. At the signal given by the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet of God, the Lord himself will come down from heaven; those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise, and only after that shall we who remain alive be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air. This is the way we shall be with the Lord for ever. With such thoughts as these, then, you should encourage one another.

                R. Thessalonians — they were worried that friends
                    who died would miss out on 2nd
                    coming of God —
                    St. Paul says they won't miss anything

                John was criticizing the King —
                    Following Old Testament law — not lawful
                        to marry brother's wife

                So John was imprisoned —

                Then this party was called
                    Fancy dancing —

                John was beheaded

                John's sacrifice shows us sometimes we have
                    to make great sacrifices
                    for God —

                We pray that God gives priests grace to deal
                    with people as they are
                    called, to encourage
                    people —

                Jesus: A house divided against
                itself cannot stand —

                    You cannot be united and
                divided at the same time —

                    To those who seek council
                they become wise —

                    To those whose ways are to
                serve satan — their end is
                the end of darkness

                    For what does it profit
                a man to gain the whole
                world and lose their soul —

                    In the end the hens come
                home to roost and so it is
                with you — your final days
                approach always with your
                works as the tally that
                you add for your days on
                earth —

                    No man can bring back
                a day that is spent — like
                cold cash it was either
                used in love or sadness serving
                satan —

                    I have warned because of
                My love for you —

                    As a mother hen tending to
                her babies, I tell you what you
                need to live eternally — in
                eternal bliss and

                    Satan takes the babies
                to a pit and throws them into
                the fire —

                    I warned, but in your
                pride you would not listen
                to the counsel of your God —
                You listened to the red man
                running an eternal furnace
                of doom and destruction — isolation
                and pain — for in the end your
                tally are your days —

                Simply They were lived to do good
                    or To do evil —

                    Come to Me all who are
                weary and find rest for your
                soul —

                    What mother hen would not
                warn the little chicks of their
                upcoming destruction —

                    Am I not more concerned
                with you My precious soul
                who I want to be one with
                you now and in eternity and you
                are choosing evil rather than
                to do good and I warn you, to
                turn your lives around, that
                your days are spent in love
                and goodness, obeying My commandments
                and love and serving your God and
                others —

                    You cannot be divided and
                united at the same time — The Plan
                of God is you live as a family
                of love —

                    I am all good —
                    I am light —

                    When you give into sin
                and jealousies, anger, waging
                war, envy, malice you are
                darker and darker inside and you
                must seek forgiveness or
                your cancer grows and grows
                and your tally becomes darker —
                Seek the light, forgive and love,
                do good to those who persecute
                you, put behind you black
                days for days of holiness —
                Love and seek forgiveness — love
                and seek unity

                    Measure a cup of flour and
                expect the leaven to grow
                bountifully —

                    Plant the seed and expect a
                bountiful harvest —

                    For the barren fields can
                produce fruit when the will
                to love is there and the seeds
                are cared for in love and goodness —

                    but a man that sows wrath
                in the barren field — yields
                no harvest and when the night
                winds blow because of the
                angry hearts the seed is
                scattered and lands on rotten
                ground — not the grounds
                planted and cared for in
                love —

                    For the harvest is by My
                Might for one who sows in
                goodness and love — reaps
                goodness and love

                    And one who sows in
                anger, envy, provoking
                selfishness reaps nothing
                good — only darkness and others
                are wanting who were to
                feast from the seeds of love
                never nurtured or sown from
                the jealous, dark hearts

                    So if your days are numbered
                a right —

                    How many have you sown
                for a bountiful harvest?

                    How many have you sown
                that was planted in wrath —
                like chaff that will be
                burned in the fires of Gahanna —

                    For the day comes and I call you
                from this journey and say

                    Now man how have you
                loved Me and others —

                    For I created My People
                to love and I gave you a unique
                heart to give your special
                love to Me and to others —

                    Listen to Me now before
                it is too late —

                    Love My precious one while
                your days of tally have not
                ended —

                    This is My warning —

                    A prophesy for a grand
                harvest of wheat —

                    A day of light —

                    An empty vessel ready to
                be filled with love and poured
                on the earth as one plants
                light amongst the weeds and
                the light with My Power
                casts out the darkness and
                many are touched by your
                ways —

                    I am the Sacred Heart of Jesus and
                I am love -

                    I was hung by 2 thieves —
                one was bad, another good —
                the one repented and was saved —
                the other cursed Me and hugged
                the darkness —

                    I give you a new day —

                    A message of truth —

                    For the man caught in
                the world — he is like a fisherman
                paralyzed in his own net, yielding
                no fish for he is caught up in the net —

                    My fisherman puts his net in
                the sea — full of promise and love and
                unity — one in My Heart and
                all he touches turns to fish
                that will feed the hungry
                souls for the judgment
                day, for the judgment day
                approaches — every day it
                is one day closer and the end
                is up to Me —

                    Why did Joseph tell them to
                prepare for the days of scarcity and
                so they stored up good grain and
                they were prepared when the winds
                came and they did not starve —

                    You prepare now for eternity —
                Store up days of beauteous light
                and love and goodness — obeying your
                God and being under just authority
                as a little baby hen walking
                with the mother hen — I guide
                you —

                    A black sheep can go to the
                end of the path — on this own
                and fall in an eternal ravine —

                    I give you My Word — I am
                the Good Shepherd - and they hear
                My Voice and they follow Me —
                They do not follow the hired man
                who runs when he sees
                a wolf coming and the sheep
                scatter and some are lost
                forever —

                    I am the Good Shepherd —
                They hear My Voice and they
                follow Me —

                    They take up their cross and
                when the days are dark and
                bleak they follow the light
                and I lead them staff in
                hand to safety

John 10: 11-15

I am the good shepherd:
the good shepherd lays down his life
   for his sheep.
The hired man,
   since he is not the shepherd
and the sheep do not belong to him,
abandons the sheep
as soon as he sees a wolf coming,
   and runs away,
and then the wolf attacks
   and scatters the sheep;
he runs away
   because he is only a hired man
and has no concern for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd;
I know my own
and my own know me,
just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father;
and I lay down my life for my sheep.

                Jesus: A man relying on his own
                might is prey to satan — he
                is divided and sees himself as
                king and when the stars shine —
                he reaches not for the beautiful
                stars in the sky, but busies
                himself 5 feet off the ground
                crowning his own head and

                    Where there was everlasting
                Bliss — he reached only a
                little above the earth —
                A man may stand 5 to 6 feet
                off the ground and when he
                sits on his own self-made
                throne he is even closer to
                the ground —

                    I give you an eternal
                garden of love, but you must
                choose to be gardeners and
                fishermen when on earth —
                that your labors increase
                in love like ripples on
                the pond —

                    Satan tells you to rule and
                when you listen to him - you
                shut yourself in a dark cave,
                on your throne — 4 feet off
                the earth and your heart
                withers and dies of selfishness —

                    I call you to service —
                    I call you to love —
                    I call you to stand beneath
                        the altar of God and
                        to shine from My gift
                        to you —

                    To be abundantly filled
                        with love and peace,
                        light and joy —

                I give you Holy Mother the Church —

                You are the little hens —
                    the one seeking God's will —
                    You flower and you fade,
                    but oh sweet one, My love,

                The beauty of your soul —

                For you heeded My warning —
                    you chose the light —
                    You sent the red man away
                    You stood in the sun to
                        soak up its rays —
                    Your eyes sought the
                        mystery of God —

                    Oh precious, beautiful
                        Spouse — you gave
                        Me so much happiness —
                        I am Jesus waiting our
                            union —
                        I love you dearly and
                            I write My Songs of
                            love to tell you —
                        I write My letters of love
                            to you —

                Satan can make you at
                    odds with your own
                    heart if you let him and
                    he wants to fill you with
                        tar,
                        blackness,
                        lose,
                        envy,
                        jealousy,
                        anger,
                        and pride —

                I give you My Heart of love,
                    of knowing —
                    I am your God —
                    I want to dwell in your
                        heart, but you must
                        go to confession and tell
                        the priest your sins of
                        selfishness, pride, jealousy.
                        envy
                        and ask for the grace to
                        open more and more to My love —

                R. Christ quieted the storms 

                R. Why would a man think he
                    could go alone when the
                    elements are overtaking him —

Mark 4: 4

Now it happened that, as he sowed, some of the seed fell on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

                R. The sea can be calm and

                The storms of life rage in
                    a moment —

                Jesus is always there to calm
                    the storms of life

                R. We need Faith, hope and love —
                Theological virtues —

                Our forefathers had great
                    faith and relied on God —

                They traveled in the desert and
                    did not lose hope —

                Their faith was so strong —

                They loved God and God's people —

                They were men for others —

                They lived in love —
 

                John the Baptist
                    Lost his head —

                    Why do we try to raise
                        above God?
                    Why do we try to raise
                        above authority God gives

                    Why do men not listen to the
                        voice of the Good Shepherd and
                        why do men choose a life that is sinful —
                        against God's rules —

Matthew 3: 3

This was the man spoken of by the prophet Isaiah 
when he said:

                     A voice of one that cries in the desert,
                    ‘Prepare a way for the Lord,
                    make his paths straight.’    

Matthew 3: 13-17

Then Jesus appeared: he came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John. John tried to dissuade him, with the words, ‘It is I who need baptism from you, and yet you come to me!’ But Jesus replied, ‘Leave it like this for the time being; it is fitting that we should, in this way, do all that uprightness demands.’ Then John gave in to him. 

    And when Jesus had been baptised he at once came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him. And suddenly there was a voice from heaven, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on him.’

                R. The devil tried to tempt Jesus

Excerpt from Priestly Newsletter 1998 - ISSUE FOUR

    Shortly before he was to die from cancer, Joseph Cardinal Bernardin left us these inspiring words about peace: "It is the first day of November, and fall is giving way to winter. Soon the trees will lose the vibrant colors of their leaves and snow will cover the ground. The earth will shut down, and people will race to and from their destinations bundled up for warmth. Chicago winters are harsh. It is a time of dying.

    "But we know that spring will soon come with all its new life and wonder.

    "It is quite clear that I will not be alive in the spring. But I will soon experience new life in a different way...

    "What I would like to leave behind is a simple prayer that each of you may find what I have found—God's special gift to us all: the gift of peace. When we are at peace, we find the freedom to be most fully who we are, even in the worst of times. We let go of what is non-essential and embrace what is essential. We empty ourselves so that God may more fully work within us. And we become instruments in the hands of the Lord."³

Seeing the crowds, he went onto the mountain. And when he was seated his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak. This is what he taught them:

How blessed are the poor in spirit:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are the gentle:
they shall have the earth as inheritance.
Blessed are those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those
   who hunger and thirst for uprightness:
they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
they shall be recognised
   as children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
   in the cause of uprightness:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Blessed are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven; this is how they persecuted the prophets before you.

‘You are salt for the earth. But if salt loses its taste, what can make it salty again? It is good for nothing, and can only be thrown out to be trampled under people’s feet.

    Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Matthew 8: 17

This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

      He himself bore our sicknesses away
        and carried our diseases.

                    R. Jesus calmed the storm
                    He healed the demoniacs
                    He healed the Paralytics
                    He healed the Blind Men
                    He healed the Mute Person

                Jesus preached the Gospel of the
                    Kingdom —

Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be cunning as snakes and yet innocent as doves.

Open and fearless speech

'So do not be afraid of them. Everything now covered up will be uncovered, and everything now hidden will be made clear. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from the housetops.

'Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet not one falls to the ground without your Father knowing. Why, every hair on your head has been counted. So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

'So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I will declare myself for him in the presence of my Father in heaven. But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I will disown in the presence of my Father in heaven.

Then he began to reproach the towns in which most of his miracles had been worked, because they refused to repent. 'Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Still, I tell you that it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on Judgement Day than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, did you want to be raised as high as heaven? You shall be flung down to hell. For if the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have been standing yet. Still, I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on Judgement Day than for you.'

At that time Jesus exclaimed, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children.
