R. Come Holy Spirit fill us with the fire of God's
love. Come Holy Spirit make us holy.
The Holy Spirit works in the Heart of Mary to
make us more and more in the image of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit works in us helping us to
be more likened to Jesus.
We put on Christ –
We live in Him, with Him, for Him –
We love as God loves more and more and
the Holy Spirit perfects more His work in us.
Beauty is in the soul. The interior life
is so very important to the man.
The world keeps trying to get us to think
happiness is outside of ourselves – go out –
find happiness in another person – go out –
find happiness in wealth, in youth,
in travel, in possessions –
Happiness is in God –
Our goal is God –
We live in the moment – we are alive
in Him – He lives in us NOW – He
operates in us NOW – God has a
Plan for me NOW –
NOW is the only moment I can live –
Song: Live This Day
R. We know we are the creation of
God the Father – the unique
creation – no one is like us –
No one can perform our role –
God is light
God is love –
God is real –
We live in Him, for Him,
through Him –
God dwells in our graced, baptized
soul –
Come Holy Spirit – Come fill us with Your self –
We seek to live and dwell in You –
Why listen to the devil – Why?
Why give into him, he is a liar.
Why waste one more precious moment
not living more and more fully in God.
A man down the street was in his
early 50's and first he had lymph node
cancer and he was healed – then he got
Leukemia and his 13 year old son gave
him bone marrow and he just died
and now his wife and son are without
him.
When my sister was in her freshman
year her best friend got Leukemia
and I never thought my sister got over
the shock of this.
A woman in the Movement's brother
died when she was young – it changed her
life – she never felt good –
My mom died when I was five
years old – God helped me and my brother
work through it – I went to Mass every day –
I spent time in Church as a child –
We prayed the rosary and prayers every day –
God created us and He has a unique
plan for us. Some people die young with
five children – like my mom –
Some never get out of childhood, an
accident happens. Some have an accident
and a near death experience and live
to tell us things we need to know –
God is a God of miracles – God has
a plan for us –
Why would anyone deny God –
rebel against God – We must thank
God for baptism and the gifts we have
received in the virtues of faith, hope
and love.
Jerry, our servant, was young and
hit by a train because their car
stalled on the tracks – he was in a
coma a long time – he had to swim
to get his body movements back –
He is such a gift to us – His life
given in prayer and service and
he loves Jesus –
R. He could have died –
Jesus wanted his life given like this –
Betty was sick – Betty prayed and prayed
in the Church for 17 years.
Betty couldn't hold up her head
because of her disease – when we
slept at night Betty prayed for all
of us.
R. Sophie was the sacristan – She
prayed 17 years in the China
Church –
She loved Jesus so much –
her life was for Jesus –
And I can go on and on
Fr. Carter gave this homily
September 8, 2000 – he was so
sick yet he got up in the China
Church and said Mass and gave
this homily September 8th.

Last Homily of Father Carter's
delivered in China, Indiana
Matthew 1:18-23
Joseph adopts Jesus as his son
This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this when suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.’ Now all this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
Look! the virgin is with child
and will give birth to a son
whom they will call Immanuel,a name which means ‘God–is–with–us’.
Father Carter's homily
We notice that the Church in Her liturgy for the celebration of the birthday, the Birth of Mary, immediately puts her with Jesus:
"She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins." (Mt 1:21) – words from today's Gospel.
And so the Church reminds us that Mary was born for the sake of Jesus. Again, in celebrating her birth, the Church links her very, very directly with Jesus, yes, this is the reason for her birth: to be Mother of Jesus, and in doing that, everything else about her takes its proper place.
And just as Mary was dedicated entirely to Jesus and to His cause, we in giving her a birthday present of the highest value can only promise her, "Mary, as you were completely dedicated to Jesus, help me be completely dedicated to Him. You were His first and perfect disciple. Teach me to imitate you in the putting on of Christ." end of homily
R. On September 8th, my sister went in the
Sisters of Charity – things changed –
she had her 25 anniversary on
September 8th, my sister committed
suicide by running a car in a
garage – she wanted to get out
because she had a timer and
was on the ground by the door with
a hole trying to get out –
This was on September 8th – her 26th
anniversary of when she entered the convent.
We must pray for grace to be all
God wants us to be –
The devil presses down –
Christ showed us He took on our
sufferings.
He was whipped for our sins, our
selfishness.
We sin and God will forgive us
but we must go to Him and ask for
forgiveness and tell Him we are
sorry and ask for mercy and have
a firm purpose of amendment.
On this line we can see how short our
life is
/ Life /
ETERNITY––––––>
never ends --
I am a mathematician – I learned about
infinity – it never ends –
I learned to think abstractly –
There are patterns God put in the
earth we don't even know about –
There is the beauty of life under
the ocean –
There are the clouds and skies
that show us vastness –
the depth of the ocean –
We have a heart that we can love
with – love like Jesus.
Song: Give Me Your Heart Oh Jesus –

Song: Teach Me to Love with your Heart
Rosary of August 27, 1994
The Sorrowful Mysteries
Messenger:
Agony in the Garden
Jesus went with Peter, James and John to the garden of Olives in Gethsemane.
..."My soul is sorrowful to the point of death. Wait here and stay awake with me." (Matthew 26:38)
Jesus fell to His knees and prayed, " 'Father,' he said, 'if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, let your will be done, not mine.' " (Luke 22:42)
The angel appeared and comforted Him.
Jesus found the disciples sleeping and He said, '...So you had not the strength to stay awake with me for one hour?' (Matthew 26:40)
Jesus was so alone. He suffered for all the sins of all men for all times.
Jesus suffered so for the indifference, rejection, disrespect and lack of love He receives in the Eucharist, the Sacrament of His great love for us.
Jesus did not want to leave us. He gives us Himself in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
"... 'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' ...'This cup is the new covenant in my blood poured out for you.' " (Luke 22:19-20)
Jesus' anguish was so great that His sweat became as great drops of Blood on the ground.
Scourging at the Pillar
Jesus loved Judas so much but Jesus knew Judas would betray Him with a kiss.
They led Jesus away as a common criminal. They pulled His hair, they hit Him on the cheek, they spit on Him.
They stripped Jesus and tied Him to a pillar.
They scourged Him, whipping Him all over His entire body.
Mary knew from the prophesy of Simeon that Jesus would suffer.
Jesus' whole body was beaten.
Jesus' flesh hung from where they had beaten Him.
Jesus stood in His own Blood.
Jesus' beautiful back, once perfect, was now so badly beaten and bruised.
Jesus suffered so for the sins of the flesh.
Crowning with Thorns
These ruthless men stripped Jesus and put a scarlet robe on Him and gave Him a reed for His right hand. Then kneeling, they mocked Jesus and called out, ....'Hail, king of the Jews!' (Matthew 27:29)
They wove a piercing crown of thorns for Jesus' precious head.
They pounded the thorns so harshly into His beautiful head.
Blood poured from Jesus' head and trickled into his eyes and ears and His hair was matted.
Blood ran from His mouth, from the blows to His head.
Then they knelt, mocking Him, spitting on Him, and saying, ...'Hail, king of the Jews!' (Matthew 27:29)
Jesus suffered for all the sins of the head.
Jesus suffered for love of us!
When Jesus suffered for the horrible sins, He was comforted by the love that we give to Him this day.
Jesus suffered for the indifference to the Eucharist.
Jesus saw us giving Him so much love when we receive Him.Carrying of the Cross
They condemned our precious Jesus to death on a cross.
They gave to Jesus a great cross and threw it on His shoulder. It was so immense!
Jesus' shoulder felt as if it would crack, the cross was so heavy.
Jesus' beloved Mother stood by and watched this massacre of her precious, beautiful Child.
She heard the thumping of the cross and the jeers of the crowd.
Mary's eyes peered into Jesus' eyes. Their suffering was intensified by the suffering of the other.
Jesus never gave up His cross, He collapsed under His cross.
Mary walked the walk with Him, always by His side, as she walks our walk of suffering with us this day.
They poked at Jesus and treated Him with such dishonor. Our beautiful Jesus! Mary stood by and watched her beloved suffer.
They stripped Jesus of His garments and He accepted the abuse.
He allowed all this to happen.
He loves us this much! The Crucifixion
When Mary reached the hill of Calvary where Jesus was to be crucified, she saw all the instruments prepared for His crucifixion.
The men pounded the nails into Jesus' precious hands and feet.
Mary's Heart was torn in her chest as she helplessly watched the treatment of her blessed Child.
Jesus had given His all for love of us. Battered and bruised from head to toe, He shed His Blood.
He hung there in such agony for three hours.
Mary stood under His cross, supported by her beloved John.
Jesus' last thoughts were for us, when He gave us His own Mother.
Jesus gave us the last beat of His Heart, the last drop of His Blood.
Jesus is our Savior. He merited the SAVING GRACE BY HIS LIFE and death.
Mary held Jesus as a Baby, now she sees His lifeless body in her arms after His death.
Prayer for Union with Jesus
Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.
I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.
I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.
When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15 |
Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15 |
Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15 |
Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15 |
Guiding Light — The Word Alive in Our Hearts. — Cycle A (partial) Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10 |

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD. — Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10 |
