                Today's Scripture


Haggai 2: 1-9

on the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of Yahweh was addressed through the prophet Haggai, as follows, 'You are to speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest and to the remnant of the people. Say this, "Is there anyone left among you who saw this Temple in its former glory? And how does it look to you now? Does it not seem as though there is nothing there? But take courage now, Zerubbabel!-Yahweh declares. Courage, Joshua son of Jehozadak high priest! Courage, all you people of the country!-Yahweh declares. To work! I am with you – Yahweh Sabaoth declares-and my spirit is present among you. Do not be afraid! For Yahweh Sabaoth says this: A little while now, and I shall shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I shall shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will flow in, and I shall fill this Temple with glory, says Yahweh Sabaoth. Mine is the silver, mine the gold!-Yahweh Sabaoth declares. The glory of this new Temple will surpass that of the old, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and in this place I shall give peace – Yahweh Sabaoth declares." '

 

Psalm 43: 1-4

Judge me, God, defend my cause
    against a people who have no faithful love;
from those who are treacherous and unjust,
    rescue me.

For you are the God of my strength;
    why abandon me?
Why must I go around in mourning,
    harrassed by the enemy?

Send out your light and your truth;
    they shall be my guide,
to lead me to your holy mountain
    to the place where you dwell.

Then I shall go to the altar of God,
    to the God of my joy.
I will rejoice and praise you on the harp,
    O God, my God.

    

Luke 9: 18-22

    Now it happened that he was praying alone, and his disciples came to him and he put this question to them, 'Who do the crowds say I am?' And they answered, 'Some say John the Baptist; others Elijah; others again one of the ancient prophets come back to life.' 'But you,' he said to them, 'who do you say I am?' It was Peter who spoke up. 'The Christ of God,' he said. But He gave them strict orders and charged them not to say this to anyone.

First prophecy of the Passion

    He said, 'The Son of man is destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be put to death, and to be raised up on the third day.'

 

                R. Jesus is meek and tender
                of Heart – Jesus loved His Father, He
                showed us – Jesus died on the cross

                    This tenderness is found
                in God the Father –

                    God is infinite Love –

                    God is without limits –

                    God is All in All –

                    God is All Great

                    God is All Merciful

                    Man is limited!

                    We have been called to be Christic –
                that is that the image of Christ is
                more and more in us.

                    Christ obeyed His Father to His
                death on the cross and showed
                us His love for men – He was a
                "going-out" person, He showed us
                love is giving.

                    In baptism we receive the
                virtues of faith, hope and love,
                but the gifts of the Holy Spirit carries
                out deeply these virtues in
                how the person lives more and more
                in God.

                    The Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwell
                in the graced, baptized soul. We pray for
                this increase in these virtues
                because they are theological virtues
                and we pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit,
                the seven-fold gifts of the Holy Spirit.

                    The Holy Spirit gives to us inspirations –
                The Holy Spirit is the Divine God, where
                we are experiencing the uncertainties
                of life – the Holy Spirit guides us as
                the most precious breathe in
                knowing God's will and turning to God.

                    A man can perform actions from
                his own direction – priding himself
                on his wisdom, challenging those
                sent by God to lift him into
                a deeper knowledge of love and
                God's gifts.

                    A man may have failed at love
                and relationships, of understanding
                the role of those God has sent
                to him and the man or woman be so
                caught up in their pride and human
                ways (even failure ways) that
                they try to force others to play
                their dysfunctional games and
                prideful ways.

                    The Holy Spirit's instructing a
                soul in the will of God and
                ways of love is far, far different
                from the man living in his
                bad habits of deadly sins.

                    When the man controls his
                life by ways and imperfections
                of failures of the past – his
                ways are far, far from when
                the Divine God is acting, enlightening,
                counseling and giving wisdom to the
                simple. The Holy Spirit gives the gift
                of living more perfectly according
                to the heavenly Father's will.

                    A man who relies on himself
                and tries to implement his
                dysfunctional ways and ways
                that caused failure – only
                harder – will have more and
                more failure – which is his
                attitude and the path of his
                actions –

                    The Holy Spirit is Divine – The Holy
                Spirit is God – God is Almighty – God is
                Light – in Him there is no darkness –

                    A man of the Light – living
                by the counsel and wisdom from
                the Holy Spirit is a success. There is
                growth and not failure in no
                matter what he does.

                    I think, also, of the Promises
                of the Sacred Heart, that He will
                give them all the graces
                necessary in their state of life.

                    The person that listens to the
                counsel of satan is not open
                to these graces the Sacred Heart promises
                to give them for their state
                in life. It's like water on
                a stone!

                    I think of peace and justice
                kissing as the scripture says
                and the message today of peace –
                The man who uses God's gifts
                given for people to grow in
                the spiritual life, for evil
                is not just – A man who is
                grateful for God's gifts is a
                just man and will have
                peace even in suffering.
                Justice is in giving God what
                is His due – that means loving
                God first above all things –
                If a man loves God above
                all things and loves his neighbor
                as himself – he will have peace –
                even in suffering –

                    When we see through the
                eyes of faith, the eyes of
                the Father's will – we are
                lifted into performing God-like
                acts.

                    The man who controls his life,
                can spend his whole life
                seeking that field – not where
                a treasure is found – but
                seeking a place he can be in
                control and force his will on
                others. This is a reminder of
                the Garden of Eden – where
                Eve thought she could be
                equal to God!

                    God instructs us in contemplating
                Divine things –

                    The blind man – never even
                knows what this is –

                    A blind man may live a life
                of negative behavior – life long –
                trying to force his failure,
                dysfunctional ways on others,
                what a waste when a man
                has been baptized to throw
                away God's gifts to us for
                real wisdom of living more
                and more performing God-like acts.

                    A man may live his whole life –
                wanting only a relationship with
                himself – trusting no - one –
                If the world was like this it
                would interfere with propagation
                of the species.

                Blindness is addressed in John's
                Gospel before the Good Shepherd
                Chapter –

                    Mary said last month – the
                Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive
                to the voice of your supplication –

                    Do you know what the words to
                the Consecration to Mary and Jesus
                mean in the Prayers Jesus
                gave Fr. Carter for the Consecration
                to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary –
                It means that we give Them
                ourselves –
 

Act of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

"Lord Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock, I consecrate myself to Your most Sacred Heart. From Your pierced Heart the Church was born, the Church You have called me, as a member of Shepherds of Christ Associates, to serve in a most special way. You reveal Your Heart as a symbol of Your love in all its aspects, including Your most special love for me, whom You have chosen as Your companion in this most important work. Help me to always love You in return. Help me to give myself entirely to You. Help me always to pour out my life in love of God and neighbor! Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You!

 

Act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

"Dear Blessed Virgin Mary, I consecrate myself to your maternal and Immaculate Heart, this Heart which is symbol of your life of love. You are the Mother of my Savior. You are also my Mother. You love me with a most special love as a member of Shepherds of Christ Associates, a movement created by your Son as a powerful instrument for the renewal of the Church and the world. In a return of love, I give myself entirely to your motherly love and protection. You followed Jesus perfectly. You are His first and perfect disciple. Teach me to imitate you in the putting on of Christ. Be my motherly intercessor so that, through your Immaculate Heart, I may be guided to an ever closer union with the pierced Heart of Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock."

                   

                R. To receive inspiration from
                the Holy Spirit we should pray for
                great grace to love –

                    We have a free will – to
                close our hearts, let them
                be filled with lies and
                dirt and imperfections or
                to want to advance in
                the spiritual life by growing
                in the virtues and gifts.

                    A man who tries to mold
                the world on his image and likeness
                and force his failures on others is
                like a man standing in a stagnant
                pond!

  

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

     Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

 

                Jesus: I have called you to
                love one another – to work
                in giving and receiving in
                relationships – learning
                every day as you grow
                in relationships with God
                and others – The Holy Spirit wants
                to possess your soul with His
                gifts.

                    A blind man - cannot see –
                a man so steeped in pride
                may try to force his ways
                on others. When he tries to
                relate to others he must
                be on the top – the other on
                the bottom. If the man he
                chooses to be on the bottom, shows
                strength – he swiftly acts
                in a counter opposing way to
                force his dysfunctional imbalance
                of seeking dominance for
                dominance sake.  

                Jesus: Power - Plays are used by men
                    many times who were hurt
                    by women –
                    the old school many times
                        suppressed women and
                        so it can be easy for a
                        man to try to make sure
                        she never gets over him
 

                Couple this attitude with
                    a man scorned in love by a woman
                    a domineering mother
                    a broken home
 

                And a man may be so strong to live his
                    whole life using another woman for his
                    imbalance of what is right

                A woman may have similar problems
                    with men – brothers, fathers
                    who were domineering and
                    lorded themselves over her –
                    A woman may have been abused
                        by men –
                    held down by men –
                    sexually abused by men –

                And in rebellion
                    vow that no man would
                        ever get away with
                        anything with her
 

                R. It is sad when we know the truth is:
                    God made them male and female.

                Nothing is by chance –

                I am a woman
                    chosen in this time
                    to bring these messages and
                    Movement to the Church
                    and the world –

                It is God's will –
 

                A person who is a woman is a
                    woman with a purpose
                    by God –
                    why would a man scorned,
                    wounded, taught wrong –
                    live his life making a
                    woman a scape-goat because
                    of his problem –

                A woman can be attacked as a
                    child – how foolish it
                    is to punish people
                    for her whole life –
 

                God commanded this
 

Matthew 22: 36-40

'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'

                R. Angry parents bring anger to children –
 

                Jealous people – men and women – who
                    were scorned can keep
                    playing jealous games –
                    love - hate, in-out relationships
                    with innocent people of the same
                    sex as those who wounded them

                They can see a man and be sick in
                    their attitude toward all men
 

                A man who lost his power with
                    women can vow or try
                    to hold down another
                    woman to not feel
                    threatened by a person
                    doing nothing, but God's will
 

                We would really be in bad
                    shape if people weren't
                    working in relationships and learning
                    and they were severely damaged
                    by bad relationships –
                    forcing their punishment and
                    loss of power, hatred of
                    relationships - on others
 

                People who pull tricks on others
                    are acting like a porcupine –
                    ie. A child is kept away from a
                        burner so they don't get burned –

                    What about a person who was
                        gravely damaged in relationships
                        by power and abuse
                        and try to usurp
                        power to act out their
                        punishment for the wrong
                        done to them.

                The Holy Spirit counsels and leads men
                    to live in love according
                    to God's will –
                    And there is hope
                    And there is growth
                    And there is love

                The evil one uses willing
                    people to bring division,
                    chaos, negative behavior
                    anarchy, disorder,
                    jealousy, envy, pride,
                    anger, passive-aggressive
                    provoking others for a reaction

                The Holy Spirit possesses a soul and
                    gives them gifts, direction
                    from the Divine
   


 

                R. Fear of God
                    infuses in us an awful
                        fear of ever being
                        separated from God by sin –

                This helps a soul stay away
                    from sin –

                A person lifts up their
                    eyes to God –

                Fortitude helps us to be
                    strong against
                    evil inclinations –

                The Holy Spirit helps us regulate
                    our lives –

                We are here to be holy –
                    to overcome imperfections
                    that could hurt our
                    heavenly reward –

                We need to be able to
                    resist temptation and
                    obstacles of sin –               

The Our Father

    Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Daily Novena Prayers

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus, in union with Him in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in the Holy Spirit. We come to You united to the Child Jesus of Good Health and the Infant of Prague. We come to You in the perfect, sinless heart of Our Mother Mary, asking her powerful intercession, uniting ourselves to her holy tears. We come to You united to all the angels and saints, and the souls in purgatory.

Prayer for Holy Spirit

We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on us, to be baptized by the Holy Spirit, that He will descend mightily on us as He did on the Apostles at Pentecost. That the Holy Spirit will transform us from fear to fearlessness and that He will give us courage to do all the Father is asking of us to help bring about the Reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. We pray for the Holy Spirit to descend mightily on the Jesuits and the Poor Clares on the Shepherds of Christ leaders and members and on the whole Body of Christ and the world.

Protection by the Blood of Jesus

We pray that the Blood of Jesus will be spread on us, everyone in our families, and the Shepherds of Christ Movement, that we will be able to move steadfastly ahead and be protected from the evil one.

Healing

We pray for healing in body, mind, and soul and generational healing in ourselves, in all members in our families, and in all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, the Jesuit Community, the Poor Clares, the Body of Christ, and the world.

Prayer for Strength and Light

We adore You, oh Holy Spirit. Give us strength, give us light, console us. We give ourselves entirely to You. Oh Spirit of light and grace, we want to only do the will of the Father. Enlighten us that we may live always in the Father's will.

Eternal Spirit fill us with Your Divine Wisdom that we may comprehend more fully insight into Your Divine Mysteries.

Give us lights, Oh Holy Spirit that we may know God. Work within the heart, the spiritual womb of the Virgin Mary, to form us more and more into the image of Jesus.

Prayer to Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We long for You, Oh Spirit of Light, we long to know God, we want to be one with Him, our Divine God. We want to be one with the Father, know Him as a Person most intimately. We want to know the beloved One, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and live and dwell in Him at all times, every moment of our lives. We want to be one with You, Oh Spirit of Light, that You move in us in our every breath.

Prayer to Be One in Jesus

Let us experience life in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so we can say as Saint Paul, "I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me...." Let us live, united to the Mass, all through the day being one in Him. Let us be able to love and know in this elevated state of oneness with our God. We long for Thee, oh beauteous God, we love You, we love You, we love You. We praise You, worship You, honor You, adore You, and thank You, our beloved God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer to Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

We seek to be one in God, to live and dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, to experience life in the all perfect, pure, sinless heart of our Mother. We want the Holy Spirit to move in us and to be united to Jesus as the Bridegroom of our souls and be a most perfect sacrifice offered to the Father at every moment as we unite in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass around the world to help in the salvation of souls.

Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts

Come Holy Spirit, come, come into our hearts, inflame all people with the fire of Your love.

Leader: Send forth Your Spirit and all will be reborn.
All:  And You will renew the face of the earth.

We pray for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask for perfection in our souls to make us holy, holy souls likened to God.

Dear Holy Spirit, we give ourselves to You soul and body. We ask You to give us the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

Prayer for the Word Alive in Our Hearts

We know, dear Holy Spirit, the Word in His human nature was brought forth within the womb of the woman. We pray that His word will be brought forth in our hearts as He lives and dwells in us. We want the incarnation to go on in our lives. Dear Holy Spirit, work in us.

Little Prayers to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit, help us not to be ignorant or indifferent or weak, help us to be strong with the love of God.

Dear Holy Spirit, please pray for our needs for us.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to respect God and to avoid sin. Help us to live in the Father's will.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to keep Your commandments and to respect authority. Help us to love all things as You will us to love them. Romans 8: 5-9

Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires; those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things. And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life and peace, because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God's Law, and indeed it cannot, and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God. You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made a home in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
