Messenger: A person that has experienced tremendous
loss soon learns that the sun
comes up, and the days go on
despite how they feel.
A person may see their beloved in many
things and they have to deal with the
loss in seeing the other - here and there
where they once were - and the memories
of seeing them within their own mind.
Oh how temporary is this life here below
and how God gives us so many signs
and we may look away.
I remember Fr. Carter saying over and over
Rita, I won't be here forever - you
and John are going to have to run
the Movement someday -
and I wouldn't even think of it -
I thought God would keep him for
a ripe old age to guide the
Movement.
I didn't see that God gave me 6 solid
years as my training for what to do with
the Movement after he did all God called
him to do here on earth.
It was a packed experience, but it taught
me that God has us here just a short
time and there is such a thin veil
between heaven and earth. I know the
powerful intercession Fr. Carter has in
heaven for the Movement by the things
that have happened since his death.
- Jesus told me to make these cards.
We pray through the powerful intercession
of Fr. Carter and Our Lady of
Clearwater.
Tomorrow January 15 is Fr. Carter's
birthday.
We are hoping to open the Cincinnati Shepherds of Christ
Religious Shop on R #42- take 275

I woke today and a blanket of snow had
covered the earth.
The trees were covered so beautifully,
the ground so softly.
The flakes come so quietly and they
cover the earth in richness
and beauty.
God gives us so many signs every day.
He gives us the beautiful rolling hills
so we can see and have such
pleasure in their beauty.
He gives us the softly fallen beautiful
snow and our heart feels
at rest by the beautiful
scene He has painted for us.
I see roads and hills and scenes
in nature and my heart finds
rest.
He gives us music to soothe our
aching heart.
Here is a message from Mary

January 2, 1999
Mary speaks: I am Our Lady of Snows. I come to cover the earth with a soft white blanket of my love.
I come to bring peace to the earth. I tell you to let go of the anxiety in your heart and experience my peace and His love.
I am your heavenly Mother. I come to hold you and caress you and take you to my Immaculate Heart.
Here is a picture of Columbiere
the morning after Fr. Carter died.
Here are his works for us
He leaves these seeds with us.
God's hand extends over all of us.
This is His world.
God created all these things for us;
the sun, the moon, the clouds,
the air, (cold and warm),
the wind, the rolling hills,
the flowers, the snow, the
baby to touch and to love -
the face of the people to look
into with love -
the eyes of the toddlers full of
wonder and joy -
Oh God today you give us so many
gifts, we cannot hold on to
people and certain things -
you give us gifts a-new.
Some people want people to be with
that is not God's will -
A person cannot covet another's
spouse.
"You shall not covet your neighbor's wife."
God gives us people to love today in our lives -
God gives us people that love us
and we miss that gift if we
are hungering for the love of
another that is not wanting to
be with us.
Some want people to love them like
they want a house or boat -
they center their whole life
in trying to get someone especially
to love them who doesn't
want to love them.
What a waste of energy.
We must do God's will -
not wasting precious time
coveting others.
Jesus loves us so much.
He is always there.
He fills our needs.
He is our Divine Bridegroom.
He is God Almighty.
Our God loves us -
He gives us Himself in the Eucharist.
God gives us the priest - to guide us -
to administer the sacraments -
God gives us such gifts
Many times we want things we
don't have and miss the
gifts we do have.
From a Lenten Homily, March 24, 2000
Live in the Moment
Today’s Gospel in its story certainly points ahead to Jesus in His Passion and death. And as we read passages such as this during the Lenten season, we are reminded once again that the Church in her Liturgy of the Word gives us an opportunity to undergo a purification, an ever deepening cleansing of ourselves so that we may be a more fit instrument for receiving the great graces which are to be given to us at the time of the Resurrection memorial on Easter. And so all in all, Lent is a time of purification to prepare us for ever-greater gifts of the Lord. It’s a time of self-discipline, a time to renew our efforts to be self-disciplined in the service of the Lord. Self-discipline is an aspect of purification. And I suggest that one of the most difficult acts of self-discipline in the spiritual journey is to concentrate on the present moment. We have a very strong tendency to disregard the importance of the present moment by focusing in a wrong way on the past or in a wrong way on the future. There are proper occasions for thinking of the past and the future. For example, we have to learn from the past and we have to prepare for the future, but our great emphasis has to be upon the present. There is a Latin axiom which says, age quod agis, age quod agis, which means: do what you are doing, concentrate on the present. And of course we are familiar with that term in the history of spirituality: the sacrament of the present moment. And so the discipline of Lent certainly encourages us to include in a deeper self-discipline a greater determination to get as much as we can out of the present moment. People with a terminal illness have an opportunity as they prepare for death for increased prayer, contrition, love of God. However, some are taken very, very quickly. But for those who have the opportunity of knowing with some certainty the time of their death, I’m sure as they look back on their lives, they are saddened by the many times they did not use time and opportunities for the service of the Lord properly, and are overjoyed at those times in which they did use the present opportunity properly. A great means we have of living in the present properly is a greater focus upon our Lord. For if I have that awareness of the fact I am united with Jesus here and now, why should I be concerned so much about the future or the past? Yes, a great help in living in the present and deriving all the good we can from it for ourselves and others is an ever greater focus upon Jesus, because the more I focus upon Jesus and the more I live with Him in the present moment, the more I am satisfied with the present moment. And so let us in our Lenten activity resolve to grow in that self-discipline - which is very difficult at times - to really live in the presence with the fullness of our being as much as is possible, with the help of God’s grace. Now is the day of salvation. Now is the day of salvation.

Excerpt from Newsletter 2000 Issue 1
How much do we appreciate the great opportunity of participating in the Eucharistic Sacrifice? Here is a story which should inspire us all: "A priest who was in the German prison camp Dachau describes the Mass after all the German guards were in bed. He said, Our lives were in danger if we were ever discovered. A young priest had to memorize the names of all of those who had received Communion. After night call and bed check, we would set our guards, darken the windows, and the lucky one to be chosen to celebrate for this momentous occasion would carefully brush his pathetic garb, put the stole over his shoulders, and by the small light of his smuggled candle begin the commemoration of that great passion... We could understand the Mass. All that could crowd into the room were there, tears of joy running down our cheeks. Christ the Lord, who knew what suffering was, was coming... to bring us strength and consolation. The small hosts were broken into as many particles as possible so that the greatest number could communicate. We had to keep a secret roster of those who received. We missed some of the liturgy perhaps, but I think that God looked down into that prison room and found a particularly refreshing response to his cry of love from the cross, I thirst. There was nothing that could keep us from doing all in our power to be closer to God. " 10

Messenger:
The Eucharist is the greatest gift
to me.
I love Jesus so much -
The Almighty God comes to me -
He gives me His Body and Blood
It is a day today in our life here below -
It is one of many days in our life -
We may as well admit it as Fr. Carter
wanted me to see -
we won't be here forever -
everyday we are closer to our death -
Why wouldn't we prepare for it?
People are dying every day -
all we need to do is look at the
death notices -
Our life here is short -
